Appearance

He is smallish in height and has a delicately lithe build.  He appears to be very young.  He has long-lashed cobalt-violet eyes and velvety smooth alabaster skin.  He has nape-length, lush ebon-hazed purple hair and a stygian leather hat with a broad rim and crooked conical crown worn at a rakish angle.  He has a perfectly symmetrical, delicately featured face, an upturned nose and thin-tipped pointed ears.  He has lustrous smoky lilac glaze brushed onto his neatly squared fingernails.

Background

Described by his Illistim mother as a "generational disappointment", and his Vaalor father as "a source of perpetual dismay", Gwynek was not a great pupil during his childhood. His interests flitted, as did his attention. Thus, much of the expense spent on raising him to be an esteemed academic of Illistim, or an officer of the Crimson Legion in Vaalor, was done so in vain. Elemental magic and swordplay both drew his attention, but his refusal to adapt his intuitions to their teachings led to their constant exasperation. in his early adolescence, his parents withdrew all tutoring, and Gwynek tried to fill in the blanks on his own. In during the Feast of Immortals in 5119, Gwynek declared his interest in joining the Wizard's guild, which inspired the typical ridicule and teasing he'd come to expect from his parents.

So he left.

Speech and Demeanor

In his day to day, Gwynek rejects much of his Elven upbringing. He infrequently speaks elven, and much of his common vocabulary has been shaped by his time at sea with pirates and privateers, leading to a manner of speech that blends canting with the academia when he's in a sociable and bantering way. He does get anxious, morose, and after the events of the player driven storyline "Lost in the Mists," his mercurial aspect has intensified.

Vignettes

These vignettes are posted in chronological, rather than publication date, order.

The Early Days (5121-5122)

Leave - sometimes, it's best to just walk away.

Upon Reflection - in his early days of adventuring, when he felt especially small.

A Gentle Heart - After acquiring a cursed mask at shop, Gwynek struggles.

Last Boat - with Eni delivered to safety, all the refugees of Caligos were safe.

A Pirate's Life - It's all fun and games until a lunatic in a raven mask playing the bagpipes rams your brigantine and kills and your mates.

Nesting - trying to help all manner of creatures.

Lost in the Mist Period (5123)

Lost in the Mist was a player driven storyline run and administered by Teveriel and Uniana. Initially tasked with finding the Carmine Triumph, investigators we're pulled into realms of madness.

What a Smile Gets You - spoilers. It gets you thonked.

Too Soft Too Tired - maybe violence isn't always the answer. Maybe enough folks are already the meanest, hardest, culls around.

Toll for Thee - Lissaya and Gwynek investigate at the Aies, and nothing terrible happens to either of them.

Outside the Maze - Gwynek's crew is very happy about the situation.

Adrift - Can't have consequences without causality.

The Sea

Gwynek spends most of his time at sea; patrolling the Sea of Mists and the Caligean sea, or providing escort to trading vessels between Mistwatch and Nielira Harbor. Every few months, he takes it upon himself to tour every open, known port in Elanthia, including Sleeping Drake Harbor. As a co-chair of the Gilded Talon Consortium, Gwynek serves as helmsmen during their monthly expeditions, and has gained a reputation as skilled navigator.

The Fancy Fuchsia Zombie

Gwynek's first vessel, which he purchased with the assistance of his friend Avalenya in the spring of 5121. He calls it the Eff Eff Zee (or FFZ) for short, and is quick to point out that it is neither fuchsia (because it's magenta), and that it is not a zombie (because it is a ship). One the matter of its fanciness, he remains mum, considering that a matter of taste. It's the ship he uses the most due to its speed.
