'''Haste''' reduces nearly all [[roundtime]]s (RT) except for the offensive combat actions, and selected utility actions, that are affected by the [[Celerity]] spell. Example areas of RT reduction are the imposed RT from offensive [[creature maneuver|creature]] and [[combat maneuver]]s carried out against the caster, or the [[movement]] RT incurred when traversing certain obstacles. Training in additional ranks of the Major Elemental spell circle (benefit capped at level) and [[Elemental Lore, Air]] increase the RT reduction by 1% for every five ranks, as shown in the following formula: |

The '''Haste''' spell appears to provide a [[Wizard]] with a reduction in [[roundtime|Roundtime]] based on the following formula (all fractions are rounded down): |
The maximum possible RT reduction that can be attained with this spell is a 60% reduction of the original RT. With this maximum reduction, the end result would be 40% of the original RT (e.g. a 10-second RT would be reduced to 4 seconds, and a 20-second RT would be reduced to 8 seconds). '''This maximum benefit is attained when{{mono| MjE ranks + EL:Air ranks <nowiki>=</nowiki> 200}}'''. |
;*Final RT = (RT - [1 + X + Y]) * (75 - Z)% |
The base RT reduction for this spell is 20%. Thus, without any training in [[Elemental Lore, Air]] and the minimum 35 ranks in Major Elemental spell circle, the caster will see RTs reduced by 27%, and will therefore see 73% of the original RT (10 seconds would be reduced to 7.3, and 20 seconds would be reduced to 14.6 -- the formula rounds down, resulting in RTs of 7 seconds and 14 seconds, respectively.) |

Additional training in Major Elemental spells will reduce the lore requirement on a per rank basis, capped at level. |
A second example, at 51 MjE ranks, 24 Air Lore ranks, and a six second RT: |
:X= 1; Y = 1; Z = 17 |
:Final RT = (6 - [1 + 1 + 1]) * (75 - 17)% |
:Final RT = 3 * 58% |
:Final RT = 1.74; Which rounds down to a 1 second RT. |
Also, the benefit of MjE ranks does not appear to be capped by your character's level. |
The skills of the person benefiting from the spell are used for this formula, not those of the caster. Therefore, non-[[Wizard]]s will see (RT - [1 + X]) * (75)%. The only variable would be the amount of Air Lore ranks, which behave the same as variable X in the above formula. |

== Customary Uses == |
This spell is primarily used in combat situations by [[War Mage]]s as part of their unique combat style, which involves repeated attacks with a weapon upon a single target. |
In the form of imbedded items, rechargeable items or scrolls, it is often used by other adventurers for a similar purpose. |
As it is not limited to selfcast use, [[Wizard]]s of all types can often be seen casting this upon other adventurers, particularly in group hunting situations or in cases when those adventurers are engaging in activities known to cause long roundtimes (such as healing, box picking, or use of [[Raise Dead (318)]], among others). Some wizards have also been known to use it in combination with [[Enchant Item (925)]]. |
Note: Haste is ignored with [[ALCHEMY]] commands. However, it does function with various alchemy-related tasks which have other verbs. |

Haste reduces nearly all roundtimes (RT) except for the offensive combat actions, and selected utility actions, that are affected by the Celerity spell. Example areas of RT reduction are the imposed RT from offensive creature and combat maneuvers carried out against the caster, or the movement RT incurred when traversing certain obstacles. Training in additional ranks of the Major Elemental spell circle (benefit capped at level) and Elemental Lore, Air increase the RT reduction by 1% for every five ranks, as shown in the following formula:
The maximum possible RT reduction that can be attained with this spell is a 60% reduction of the original RT. With this maximum reduction, the end result would be 40% of the original RT (e.g. a 10-second RT would be reduced to 4 seconds, and a 20-second RT would be reduced to 8 seconds). This maximum benefit is attained when MjE ranks + EL:Air ranks = 200.
The base RT reduction for this spell is 20%. Thus, without any training in Elemental Lore, Air and the minimum 35 ranks in Major Elemental spell circle, the caster will see RTs reduced by 27%, and will therefore see 73% of the original RT (10 seconds would be reduced to 7.3, and 20 seconds would be reduced to 14.6 -- the formula rounds down, resulting in RTs of 7 seconds and 14 seconds, respectively.)
