Background
Gnul formed a mountain alliance of monster races which included Wehntoph, Glatoph, Sentoph, and Thanatoph. Gnul referred to himself as the King of Thanatoph. There were also some gnolls who stole plinite from under the Hendoran Outpost, which had once belonged to Grand Magister Dennet Kestrel, but there is no indication Cavernhold was involved. Gnul was forging feras weapons below Sentoph with cyclopean blacksmiths. Magister Enisius made feystone illusion pins which made half a dozen adventurers look like kobolds, who infiltrated the forge on a reconnaissance mission. Adventurers then raided and destroyed the forge using "The Badger", a dwarven mining vessel in the possession of Amos from the Grenroa.
Gnul began abusing the mountain allies by experimenting on them with plinite, attempting to augment their powers, or at least perfect the process before using it on himself. The minotaurs withdrew from the alliance over it. Gnul made himself a few hundred feet tall by using plinite on himself. Adventurers had to climb up Gnul will he was stomping around the landscape and attacked his vulnerable points. This resulted in his death and the destruction of his enormous body.
