Twisted Weapon

A twisted weapon is a specialty weapon that was introduced at Return to Coraesine Field by the merchant Hurdragof. When unlocked and fully "trained", the weapon can change from a white-runed twisted steel weapon to a scintillating twisted steel weapon, and will manipulate small whirlwinds. GameMaster Marstreforn updated Twisted Weapons, allowing for Twisted Flares to be unlocked at Tier 3. Twisted weapons have two scripted counterparts, twisted shields and twisted armor. The initial release was Vacuum Edition. Later releases included Fire Edition, Frost Edition, and Lightning Edition. These four, with common flare types, are now available exclusively at Ebon Gate. Acid Edition is the latest release, with an uncommon flare type, and is available exclusively at Duskruin. The Evermore Hollow shops are Twisted Ways and Twisted Glory, and are located at Vigil's End. The Bloodriven Village shop is Amalgamations and is located on Wergild Way. Tier 1 (OTS) At tier 1 (as sold in the shop) these weapons have standard (Category B) flares. The twisted weapon adds the following line to the end of the weapon's LOOK description prior to being unlocked or when in "normal" mode: A thin layer of dust coats the stiletto. The energy suddenly flows into the stiletto's edge and the air around you swirls lazily in response, forming a rippling little whirlwind near your feet that quickly dissipates. Tier 2 - Twisted Affinity At Tier 2, the twisted weapon adds the following line to the end of the weapon's LOOK description when it is scintillating: The stiletto is surrounded by a scintillating white glow. Using WAVE at [self] toggles the appearance of the energy between languidly and sinuously. At this tier, PEER can be used while the weapon is held and scintillating. When doing so, it functions as if viewing yourself in a mirror, and the weapon will whisper a response based on the wielder's demeanor. This has a 30 seconds cooldown. PEER Scintillating Only The scintillating white glow surrounding your white ora tanto flickers and twists into a flawless reflection... A baleful voice sardonically whispers, "We will do fantastic things together." (30s cooldown) The scintillating white glow surrounding XXX's white ora tanto flickers and twists as he peers into it at eye level. XXX's eyes flash with a shimmer of white light. Tier 3 - Twisted Flares At tier 3, the weapon gains offensive (Category D) flares when used to make an attack against the target. A runestaff will flare this way when a hostile spell is cast at the target. These flares damage the target twice. Additionally, the twisted weapon adds a special feature line that appears just above any held items: Tendrils of white energy languidly spiral around his right wrist. Using WAVEat [self] toggles the appearance of the energy between languidly and sinuously. Additional Information Flares Example flare: Your white ora tanto's hilt trembles with power! ** A scintillating white glow shimmers and oscillates across your tanto's blade as a twisted, violently whirling vortex surges from its edge and strikes a massive troll king! ** ... 20 points of damage! Abdomen bulges greatly and organs rupture! ... 20 points of damage! Blood gushes from ears and nose! Legacy Release These weapons were sold off the shelf as a white-runed twisted steel <weapon>. By treating the weapon with a powder, Hurdragof was able to unlock its potential to gain affinity with its wielder. Hurdragof grabs a handful of scintillating white powder from inside his tool satchel, and begins to rub it over the surface of his sledgehammer. After a moment, the sledgehammer begins to hum loudly and shimmers briefly. As the wielder uses the weapon, they begin to train it - or the weapon trains them. With enough training, the weapon will reach its full potential, at which time it becomes a scintillating <weapon>, and have access to the Tier 2 verbs. It's important to note that allowing someone else to use the weapon will reset all the training and the owner will have to start the process over again.
