'''Black ora weapons''' were originally released during the 2005 [[Wavedancer]] event and are scripted weapons comprised of [[black ora]]. These weapons are also known as Pure Black Ora Weapons and Unholy Weapons. The first two released were ''a black ora longsword'' and ''a black ora maul''. There have been other [[/notable|notable black ora weapons released]] including at the [[Ebon_Gate_2009_auction_list|Ebon Gate 2009 auction]], [[Return to Coraesine Field]] 2013, the [[Great Auction of 2016]], and Ebon Gate 2025.


These weapons are permanently cursed, give a bonus to [[mana point regeneration]] and [[wisdom]], and give a penalty to [[spirit regeneration]]. The permanent curse means that upon holding the weapon (retrieving it from a scabbard, another player, etc.) the user has just a few seconds to deal with the weapon before the shadows surrounding the weapon wrap around the character's hand. Once this happens, the character needs to have the curse neutralized before [[STOW (verb)|stowing]], [[DROP (verb)|dropping]], or [[GIVE (verb)|giving]] the weapon. The curse may be neutralized by pouring a dose of a [[pure potion]] or other potion (usually from special events) that contains the spell [[Neutralize Curse (309)]] or [[Remove Curse (315)]], or by having either spell cast on them.
as much as i love this weapon, my paladin using it is going to be hunting undead for a
long time now, so i really have little use for it for quite a while.


Because of its evil nature, black ora will backlash if anyone attempts to cast [[Bless (304)]] on the weapon. Though at one point black ora weapons would backlash against the user when wielded against the undead, since the Bless 2.0 update in 2021, that is no longer the case.

Pure black ora has varied potency, '''minor, lesser,''' '''major''' and '''possessed'''. Minor and lesser versions are permanently enhancive, cursed, and work with Cursed Armor. Major black ora weapons have all the same features but additionally can be attended once per day to teleport the user to a preset location. Prior to 2025 - Major weapons were typically distributed with a +30 or above bonus, while minor weapons are normally distributed with a +20 or +25 bonus.
there are tons of scripts to this weapon, just by having it in your hand, all completely random. on occasion, it may lash back and hurt you, i've heard other people say their black ora did, but i've yet to have that happen.


As of the 2025 update, these weapons can now be Enchanted, Ensorcelled, Sanctified, and Bonded. This requires you to first Remove Curse, and then use potions appropriate for the service. Due to their enhancive nature, weapons require the use of [[Urven'eth potion]]<nowiki/>s for Enchanting and Sanctification, or an Inky Black Potion for Ensorcelling. '''The curse will return after a short time and will cause potions to fizzle and be wasted - be warned!'''
several different types of flares on this, including one that seems to use the Mana Disrupt crit table.


These weapons now also provide a set bonus of both offensive and defensive [[Terror flare]]<nowiki/>s when wearing [[Cursed Armor]]. This starts at a 4% chance, and increases 1% for each weapon and armor tier, capping at 10%.

The mask can also be adjusted by a merchant, but has restrictions. The format must remain 15/15/15. The material should be metal of some kind. The noun must remain a mask/vizard/visard, or something similar.
Well, as much as I love this new unholy black ora longsword won on the wavedancer, I've already spent hours upon hours bonding to my favorite weapon. Black ora weapons were originally released during the 2005 Wavedancer event and are scripted weapons comprised of black ora. These weapons are also known as Pure Black Ora Weapons and Unholy Weapons. The first two released were a black ora longsword and a black ora maul. There have been other notable black ora weapons released including at the Ebon Gate 2009 auction, Return to Coraesine Field 2013, the Great Auction of 2016, and Ebon Gate 2025.

These weapons are permanently cursed, give a bonus to mana point regeneration and wisdom, and give a penalty to spirit regeneration. The permanent curse means that upon holding the weapon (retrieving it from a scabbard, another player, etc.) the user has just a few seconds to deal with the weapon before the shadows surrounding the weapon wrap around the character's hand. Once this happens, the character needs to have the curse neutralized before stowing, dropping, or giving the weapon. The curse may be neutralized by pouring a dose of a pure potion or other potion (usually from special events) that contains the spell Neutralize Curse (309) or Remove Curse (315), or by having either spell cast on them.

Because of its evil nature, black ora will backlash if anyone attempts to cast Bless (304) on the weapon. Though at one point black ora weapons would backlash against the user when wielded against the undead, since the Bless 2.0 update in 2021, that is no longer the case.

Pure black ora has varied potency, minor, lesser, major and possessed. Minor and lesser versions are permanently enhancive, cursed, and work with Cursed Armor. Major black ora weapons have all the same features but additionally can be attended once per day to teleport the user to a preset location. Prior to 2025 - Major weapons were typically distributed with a +30 or above bonus, while minor weapons are normally distributed with a +20 or +25 bonus.

As of the 2025 update, these weapons can now be Enchanted, Ensorcelled, Sanctified, and Bonded. This requires you to first Remove Curse, and then use potions appropriate for the service. Due to their enhancive nature, weapons require the use of Urven'eth potions for Enchanting and Sanctification, or an Inky Black Potion for Ensorcelling. The curse will return after a short time and will cause potions to fizzle and be wasted - be warned!

These weapons now also provide a set bonus of both offensive and defensive Terror flares when wearing Cursed Armor. This starts at a 4% chance, and increases 1% for each weapon and armor tier, capping at 10%.

Tier 1 - Minor

At tier 1, unholy weapons offer no verb traps and only allow the item to be permanently cursed.

These weapons are permanently cursed and enhancive. Tier 1 - 3 offers a bonus of +1 to Mana Recovery, +3 to Wisdom Bonus, and a penalty of -1 to Spirit Recovery.

Tier 2 - Lesser

At tier 2, unholy weapons offer limited verb interactions.

Tier 3 - Major

At tier 3, unholy weapons allow the wielder the ability to transport back to safety once a day.

Analyze

You immediately sense that this is a Pure Black Ora Weapon known as an Unholy Weapon. Aside from some other fun little details that you'll need to learn on your own, the following information might be useful: This item is a Greater/Major Black Ora weapon, aka Tier 3 of 3. Gluttons for punishment can poke, wave, raise, and touch the kris. Additionally, attend allows for a teleporting ability.

Tier 4 - Possessed

Tier 4 grants the weapon a demonic name.

Weapons can now be CLENCHed to provide a "Shadowboost" ability which grants +25 AS/+15 CS for 3 minutes at a 15 minute cooldown.

Possessed weapons offers a bonus of +2 to Mana Recovery, +6 to Wisdom Bonus, and a penalty of -1 to Spirit Recovery.

Possessed weapons can be POKEd to morph the weapon into a mask which also changes your character's features. This allows the user's hands to be freed up without the need for Remove Curse. The mask is considered pin worn, and utilizes the unique feature field. The mask description and name may be customized by a merchant, as a limited services.

Analyze

You immediately sense that this is a Pure Black Ora Weapon known as an Unholy Weapon.  Aside from some other fun little details that you'll need to learn about on your own, the following information might prove useful:

This item is a 'Possessed' Greater/Major Black Ora weapon, aka Tier 4 (of 4).  Gluttons for punishment can POKE, WAVE, RAISE, and TOUCH the runestaff.  Additionally, ATTEND allows for a teleporting ability.

The mask can also be adjusted by a merchant, but has restrictions.  The format must remain 15/15/15. The material should be metal of some kind.  The noun must remain a mask/vizard/visard, or something similar.
The name of your weapon can also be customized, but must remain in-character.

These weapons cannot be transmuted into another material.

Flares

Black ora has special flares, including some that seem to use the disruption critical table. It has been reported by players that the flare rate is approximately 25%, which is higher than the standard flare rate of approximately 15%. Because the flares are script-based, these weapons have their special properties slot open and can accept another set of flares or weighting provided they do not take up the primary script slot.
