Joola's Jewels are scripted items that can have different gems swapped out of them and allow for items to have both a LONG and SHOW description in a single alteration session with a merchant. There are two tiers to Joolas, locked and unlocked. They can be set to take a gemstone only, a gemstone insect, or either. They were first introduced in 2011 by GM Vanah via merchant Joola. Analyze The creator has also provided the following information: This item can be altered to have a LONG and a SHOW, but the show must accommodate either an inserted gem or an empty socket anywhere the gem is to be mentioned. The merchant can also change the way the gem is attached. For example, you can have: capped by (a gemstone) topped by a carved (gemstone) heart set with a series of (gemstone) studs This item is currently set as follows: Description with no gem inset: a moonlight silver silk gown with black tracery Description with a gem inset: a moonlight silver silk gown with gemstone tracery You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the silver silk gown for you. Locked Usage Verb Gem Status First Third PUSH No gem You push the heel of your empty hand against a hollow socket on your orase runestaff. As you examine the shallow indentations that the sharp prongs leave, you think that it might work better with a gem in hand. XXX pushes the heel of his empty hand against his orase runestaff. Gem in hand You push your yellow sunstone into the empty socket on your runestaff and click it into place. XXX pushes his yellow sunstone into an empty socket on his runestaff and clicks it into place. Gem in item You brush your palm across your orase runestaff and notice that there is already a yellow sunstone within the runestaff. Did you want to pull the sunstone out? XXX passes his hand over the yellow sunstone adorning his orase runestaff. PULL No gem You trace your fingers along the empty gem socket on your orase runestaff, but there is not a gem within. XXX absently traces his finger along the empty gem socket on his orase runestaff. Gem in item You carefully pry the yellow sunstone out of your runestaff. XXX carefully pries the yellow sunstone out of his runestaff. PROD No gem You prod your orase runestaff thoughtfully, considering what gem to put in the empty socket. XXX prods at an empty socket on his orase runestaff with a thoughtful look on his face. Gem in item You prod at your runestaff, making a few adjustments. When you finish, you have a sanded orase runestaff capped by a claw-ensnared orb. XXX prods his orase runestaff with a thoughtful look on his face. This will toggle the description of the item from plain appearance to gemmed appearance. Unlocked This tier unlocks verbs that will only work when a gem is inserted into the item. Analyze This orase runestaff is unlocked. You sense you can CLEAN, POKE, and TILT it while a gem is inserted. Usage Verb First Third CLEAN You fastidiously rub the surface of your orase runestaff, causing the yellow sunstone adorning the runestaff to gleam. XXX fastidiously rubs the surface of his orase runestaff, causing the yellow sunstone adorning the runestaff to gleam. POKE You tap your fingers against the yellow sunstone on your orase runestaff. TILT You tilt the angle of your orase runestaff slightly, causing the light to catch the yellow sunstone adorning your runestaff. Additional Information Some gem-cutter patterns, such as -shaped, may be truncated in the display. For example, "a white shirt with a gemstone pin" -> "a white shirt with a blush-hearted scarlet ruby pin" but when a -shaped gem is inserted such as "a rugged heart-shaped ruby" it turns into "a white shirt with a ruby pin", having omitted everything before the -shaped in the display.
