Hello WINTERDAWN. I have reviewed a few of your recent changes. I'm wondering why you're removing the PSM 3.0 costs template from the weapon techniques pages. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. [[User:MOD-GSMOTTE|MOD-GSMOTTE]] ([[User talk:MOD-GSMOTTE|talk]]) 18:01, 3 July 2022 (CDT)

:To me it's not useful information and just takes up space. You don't train in the ability, you get it automatically once you achieve a certain rank in the weapon skill. You don't train in the ability to increase the ranks of it, you get those automatically once you achieve the necessary rank in the weapon skill. Why do I need a table telling me "all 5 ranks are free" when the notation on the page already says that: "you increase ranks in the ability as you gain weapon ranks." It's a case of a similar system (PSM) being lumped into the wiki design of another system (CMAN/armor/shield). I think ALL skills that are free to learn (and done automatically) should have the table removed.

Hi, WINTERDAWN. I just wanted to give you a head's up on why I reverted your changes to [[Template:Wood_Rarity_and_Use]] to remove the redlined links added. The additional links were all to existing real world trees that are not unique to Elanthia. While it is certainly fine for someone to eventually make pages for individual trees and add those links back in to the template, none of the trees with redlined links had anything unique to them in an Elanthian setting apart from their real world equivalents. Hopefully that helps clarify! [[User:HOST-GSKEBECHET|HOST-GSKEBECHET]] ([[User talk:HOST-GSKEBECHET|talk]]) 10:42, 26 July 2022 (CDT)

Thank you for all of the contributions you've made toward archiving all of the Elanthian Journals! Just as a reminder, please use <nowiki>[[Category:Marked for Deletion]]</nowiki> on a page when you would like it deleted. I went ahead and deleted the Journal pages you had cleared and replaced with the text, "Things to be deleted by Simu Admin." because your intent appeared to be very clear, however using the Category instead would make it easier for any mods to see those pages as part of weekly patrols for page deletion requests. == Talk Pages vs Articles ==

Hi, WINTERDAWN. I am reaching out to you because I am reverting back the edits on [[Northern Sentinel's Decree on the Imperial Protection of Wehnimer's Landing]] to include the full text of the letter instead of omitting portions of it. Could you help me understand why you removed portions of the letter? I understand that you also put the log of the letter being read aloud in game on the page's Talk page. However, the purpose of a Talk page is to provide notes about the main article, such as indicating permission to share something on behalf of another person, sharing incomplete research information, or asking a question/seeking clarification about the text of an article. Talk pages are not intended to be used as supplementary articles, nor should articles omit relevant information for the sake of sharing it on a Talk page. [[User:HOST-GSKEBECHET|HOST-GSKEBECHET]] ([[User talk:HOST-GSKEBECHET|talk]]) 09:42, 8 February 2023 (CST)

:So there are two separate authors here: myself and WBURKE.

:When I first came across the letter as relayed by Cordarius, in user LEAFIARA's log, I thought, "this is very useful information that should probably be more accessible than in the middle of a log." However, it was late, and I was not necessarily wanting to embark on a lengthy project at the time, and so I literally just copy/pasted it into a separate wiki page (the awkwardly named one I marked for deletion).

:Soon after this, user WBURKE created a page to document the information relayed by that letter. The desire of my page was "here's the log so it's easier to find, maybe it'll be made nicer one day." The desire of their page was to focus on the specific points of interest in that letter. My focus was "here's the letter in full" while their focus was "here's the bullet points with regards to the Empire and Wehnimer's Landing." What they created is what I wanted the log to eventually turn into.

:I still felt it useful to have the log around, though, and so dumped it on the discussion page as I don't know where else to put it.

:As an aside, based on how this wiki is used, both in the past and currently, I feel that the discussion page is a fine spot for these types of things. On other wikis yes, you can have very lengthy conversations about the topics you listed, but that just doesn't really happen here on this one.

:Based on those guidelines we would need to move this content: [[Talk:Sanctify (330)]] and [[Talk:Introduction to the Confluence#The Mentor Event Itself]]. I feel that these bits, that are relevant to their pages, would detract from the pages themselves if added. The Sanctify content would just muddy the page and the Confluence content has no relevance on the guide itself. The Sanctify content would be easy enough to break out into it's own guide I guess, and I guess the Confluence content could just be added to my user page or something. /shrug

:Anyways, just my thoughts. At the end of the day you're the boss on this stuff so I acquiesce to what you feel is best :)

Actually, discussions go on talk pages. Also, you are required to thoroughly organize, category, and edit all contributed materials to conform to the rigid standards of Krakiipedia.

Only teasing ;) Welcome to KP! *SammichKing*..who?..wha? 03:13, 13 March 2006 (PST)

On my HARD DRIVE plz.  :) Just stick it wherever it looks like it fits. If you need help with anything, hit me up on AIM or email or talk pages. Oliver (User | Talk) 12:43, 13 March 2006 (PST)

How do I use talk pages? I've only ever lurked Wiki content.

You just did. Basically, every page has its own talk page ('Discussion' tab at the top). You can add comments by navigating to the talk page, then clicking the "Edit" or "+" tab. You will be forwarded to an edit page, and you type whatever you wish. If you do this specifically on user talk pages, then that user is notified on their next log-in that they have message(s) waiting for them (and receive Email notification if turned on). At the end of your comment, be sure to auto-sign with your username and a timestamp, all you have to enter is four tildes (like this: ~~~~) after the text. You can hit the preview button at the bottom to see what it looks like.
If you wish, you may IM me (Ulthripe) and I'll gladly answer any questions and help to generally orientate you to KP. For some twisted reason, I like to help. *SammichKing*..who?..wha? 18:55, 13 March 2006 (PST)

The most recent note about temporary vs permanent here Talk:Loresinging was very helpful to me, just wanted to say thanks since I don't take the time to say it too often. -Soliere FIRENSIA (talk) 16:35, 22 March 2020 (CDT)

I came here to thank you profusely for posting your research re: temporary vs permanent on the Loresinging Talk page, and apparently, I already thanked you in March 2020. It deserved another thank you, it helped me so much again today, when I was attempting to figure it out all over again. So I'll try not to spam you with a 3rd thank you unless I lose my mind again. THANKS! -Soliere FIRENSIA (talk) 08:49, 9 December 2020 (CST)
This is just another thank you from me. Everywhere I have gone today to look up information, your name has turned up. Thanks for all your diligent work on the wiki. I'm sure I don't say it enough. -Soliere FIRENSIA (talk) 14:08, 18 September 2021 (CDT)
You're welcome Soliere! ..and thank you for everything you do too! WINTERDAWN (talk) 16:26, 18 September 2021 (CDT)

In response to your note after changing the link on the Elven Armor page - Yes, that's fine. I am going to create a gear difficulty modifier page that has all three of the templates together on one page along with a description of what the gear difficulty modifier is, at which time I will revert your change. (I left it red-linked on purpose knowing I was creating this page.) It's fine to be linked to the template for now. MOD-GSMOTTE (talk) 23:34, 21 March 2021 (CDT)

Okay, sounds good! Not trying to step on any toes or ruffle any feathers :) WINTERDAWN (talk) 01:19, 22 March 2021 (CDT)
Certainly. Please do not spend too much time being concerned about stepping on my toes. If there is something that isn't in accordance with the style guide, wiki consistency, or the directions I am given, it is easy enough to edit or revert the changes. It is not an emotionally-loaded event worth feather ruffling. I appreciate and value the work of all contributors to the wiki; their time and effort demonstrates their passion for this beloved game. Thank you for your continued work. MOD-GSMOTTE (talk) 09:27, 28 March 2021 (CDT)

I have added responses to your queries at User talk:MOD-GSMOTTE. Thank you for your curiosity, for reaching out for clarification and information, and your work on the wiki. MOD-GSMOTTE (talk) 10:27, 13 April 2021 (CDT)

I read them all, thank you! I appreciate the thoroughness of the responses as you can tell I have many angles of thought, haha. WINTERDAWN (talk) 16:13, 13 April 2021 (CDT)

Talk Pages vs Articles

Hi, WINTERDAWN. I am reaching out to you because I am reverting back the edits on Northern Sentinel's Decree on the Imperial Protection of Wehnimer's Landing to include the full text of the letter instead of omitting portions of it. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 09:42, 8 February 2023 (CST)

So there are two separate authors here: myself and WBURKE.
When I first came across the letter as relayed by Cordarius, in user LEAFIARA's log, I thought, "this is very useful information that should probably be more accessible than in the middle of a log." However, it was late, and I was not necessarily wanting to embark on a lengthy project at the time, and so I literally just copy/pasted it into a separate wiki page (the awkwardly named one I marked for deletion).
Soon after this, user WBURKE created a page to document the information relayed by that letter.
I still felt it useful to have the log around, though, and so dumped it on the discussion page as I don't know where else to put it.
As an aside, based on how this wiki is used, both in the past and currently, I feel that the discussion page is a fine spot for these types of things. On other wikis yes, you can have very lengthy conversations about the topics you listed, but that just doesn't really happen here on this one.
Based on those guidelines we would need to move this content: Talk:Sanctify (330) and Talk:Introduction to the Confluence#The Mentor Event Itself. /shrug
Anyways, just my thoughts. At the end of the day you're the boss on this stuff so I acquiesce to what you feel is best :)
