Ithnishmyn

Ithnishmyn was the first great city of the sylvan elves. It was established approximately 45,400 years before the Modern Era as a colony for the sylvans to inhabit among tall trees. Eventually, 36,567 years before the Modern Era, the city was abandoned amid concerns about elven encroachment on the sylvan community.

City of Ithnishmyn

Ithnishmyn was known for its natural beauty and distinctive architecture. Early sylvan tents evolved to become multi-level constructions that both rose from the ground and hung suspended from the tree boughs, and the collection of such homes resembled a fleet of ships with billowing sails. The colony grew slowly, accepting small family groups of elves who had heard of the settlement and wished to join the sylvan culture. The city also engaged in limited trade with the early elven city-states as well as dwarven clans in the west. However, visitors from the city-states were viewed with increasing wariness over time as they sought to study, convert, or enslave the sylvans.

Three of the Primary Hierarchs, leaders of the Sylvan High Council, ruled during the time in Ithnishmyn: Hefina, who guided the sylvans to the city's founding; Citlalli, who presided over the establishment of the D'ahranals and sylvan governance; and Tuwm, who would at last lead the sylvans away from the site after almost nine thousand years of habitation.

After a final debate between Hierarch Tuwm and Eislemar Nathlai, cavalot of the Tyesteron D'ahranal, the sylvans would dismantle the city and leave in secret. The next visitors found only some imprints on a ground and a large circle where the Council House once stood.

Ma'Henrith Caverns

In 4,955 of the Modern Era, over forty millenia after the sylvans left Ithnishmyn, the scholar Relian Degaloth Illistim discovered a massive trove of sylvan artifacts at the nearby Ma'Henrith Caverns. Further research revealed that not only did the site contain scrolls describing historical events and cultural exchanges during the sylvans' time in Ithnishmyn, but it also held a vast collection of funerary items such as burial urns and rivelyn beads made from ashes. These items were excavated and eventually put on display briefly in Ta'Illistim in the year 5,125, but protests from sylvans in attendance at the careless ransacking of the burial site led to its closure. After the Council of the Sylvisterai in the Wild revealed their existence to the Illistim loremasters, the artifacts were arranged to be returned to Hierarch Hyldedd.
