Twisted shield

Twisted shields are scripted shields that debuted at the February 2024 run of Duskruin, in a Bloodriven Village shop called Amalgamations. They were created by GameMaster Marstreforn. They are the shield counterpart to twisted weapons and twisted armor. Acid Edition, which is the first version of these shields released, comes with acid flares and a +20 enchantment. They are constructed of black alloy, and are exclusive to the Duskruin event. Fire Edition, Frost Edition, Lightning Edition, and Vacuum Edition were later released during the Ebon Gate event in 2024, sold in the Evermore Hollow shops Twisted Glory and Twisted Lodge. Tier 1 (OTS) At tier 1 (as sold in the shop) these shields have standard (Category B) flares. Some messaging varies slightly based on demeanor. For Stance Verbose messaging, the shield will use its own messaging if a weapon being used does not already have its own Stance Verbose messaging. Merchants that are skilled with this type of shield may also customize the following: * Bouche: "an angular notch" * Grooves: "labyrinthine" * Fumes: "virescent" * Enarmes: "rigid leather brace" ** Lever: "a twisted metal lever" (not unlocked) ** Flares: "a twisted, prismatic spray of acid" (not unlocked) Unlocks: ** Twisted Interdiction Flares (reactive - acid): NOT UNLOCKED - Chance for extra flares when you block an attack. - Will only flare this way while in an aggressive stance. *** Twisted Assault Flares (offensive - acid): NOT UNLOCKED - Chance for extra flares when you strike a target with a shield ability. - These flares damage the target twice when they hit. **** Twisted Puissance (POINT - acid): NOT UNLOCKED - Deals damage equal to Twisted Assault Flares if it hits. - Buff of +10 TD while active. Ends early if no longer holding the shield in the left hand. - Twisted Puissance lasts for 60 seconds and has a 3 minute cooldown. Twisted Interdiction Flares must be unlocked to enable the Lever and Flares customizations. You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the black alloy shield for you. These flares damage the target twice. Tier 4 - Twisted Puissance At tier 4, the shield gains an SMRv2 ability by using POINT while holding it in the left hand. Usage: POINT <my> shield [AT {target}] This ability deals damage equal to a Twisted Assault Flare, and grants a 60 second buff that increases the wielder's TD by +10. There is a 3 minute cooldown to use Twisted Puissance from any Twisted Shield, and if the wielder is no longer holding the shield in their left hand at any time the buff will end prematurely. Tier 5 - Puissant Boost This is the final tier that can be unlocked on a Twisted Shield, and adds a damage padding buff while Twisted Puissance is active. At this tier, Twisted Assault Flares (and the POINT ability) have a 20% chance to damage the target a third time.
