Mana Disruption has a chance to temporarily disable an enhancement (defensive) spell on a target for 15 seconds. Using the caster's [[SMC|Spirit]] and [[Elemental Mana Control]] (with the higher of the two counting all ranks and the lesser counting half ranks), it uses a seed 1 [[summation]] to determine the % chance to disrupt a spell. If successful, it will randomly select a spell from the target based upon the caster's Mana Control skills. If the caster has higher SMC, it will attempt to randomly select a spiritual spell first, or if EMC is higher, an elemental spell. If they are equal, it will randomly select one type. Mana Disruption is the most universal Sorcerer Base warding attack spell. It inflicts damage by causing the mana in and around the target to be violently disturbed. There are two damage cycles inflicted: the first is a hitpoint loss, and the other is an injury with additional blood loss.

The severity of the strike depends heavily on the warding endroll. In addition, targets that are stunned or similarly incapacitated are more susceptible to damage. Likewise, using the CHANNEL command can potentially increase the overall damage. If channeling, more offensive stances as well as having one or both hands empty also have the potential to increase the damage inflicted.

This spell is commonly found in twisted wands.

Usage

  • PREP 702 | CAST {target} or INCANT 702 to cast this spell
  • PREP 702 | CHANNEL {target} to channel the spell for additional damage/critical strength, incurring 3 sec. of hard RT
  • INCANT 702 CHANNEL to channel this spell once using INCANT
  • INCANT SET CHANNEL 702 to always channel this spell using INCANT 702

Channel Damage

Channeling adds to the effective warding margin on a successful cast based on the caster's stance and number of open hands. Casters wielding two-handed weapons such as runestaves are considered to have one open hand (as long as they are not also holding another item).
