The defensive spell, Lesser Shroud, increases a target's generic defensive strength by 15 and increases spiritual target defense by 20. The generic defensive strength is increased by 1 for every two ranks in the Minor Spiritual spell circle above 20.
The enhanced defensive strength causes an increased mana cost. The mana cost increases by one point per 3 points added to defensive strength above the initial 15, or +1 to the mana cost for every 6 ranks in Minor Spiritual above 20. This benefit maxes out when the number of ranks the caster possesses in Minor Spiritual is equal to his level, therefore it is not possible to increase one's defensive strength by overtraining in this skill.
Special Availability
With sixty ranks in Spiritual Lore, Blessings, a caster can bestow this spell upon another recipient beyond himself, though the duration is reduced to a flat two minutes and the recipient does not benefit from the caster's training in Minor Spiritual.
