Synopsis
The Rooks gather on the rooftops and light torches, then bring forth bound figures. They kick them off the roofs, leaving them dangling from the ropes and smacking into the walls, but a guard checks the body and finds it's a strawman. The Rooks light the straw corpses ablaze, then leave.
Afterward, Sir Cryheart's group heads to the new Imperial camp to explore it. Eventually Elidal comes out to speak with everyone and says Mayor Thadston seeks a meeting with him, the town council, and the "elements of town" for protection talks before the next caravan arrives within the week, along with Commander Sablo--and his (Elidal's) parents Ferwin and Wintora to follow afterward. (OOC note: unclear whether his parents are arriving on that same night or if "afterward" refers to a third caravan later.)
Having heard gossip from settlers, a few of the Landing regulars inquire about it, so Elidal relays a story about Enisius devising a spell to give their father's vessels more buoyance, but it failed, resulting in losses that set the business back by many months. He also talks about Iliyaas, who some of the workers seemed intimidated by, but he says people are concerned about the unknown and describes her as staying in the forest, where her sylvan blood sings, and says her eyes can catch a "glimpse of tomorrow."

We waited with Vlashandra, Dennet, Octaven--well, you get the picture." Speaking to Leafiara, Yardie says, "I tend to argue the opposite. This town jumps quicker than a teenager's first drunken date."
(OOC) Yukito's player whispers to the group, "His eyes are still bright and wide with youth... and... and... HOPE." (OOC) Bellaja's player whispers to the group, "Quick. Someone crush it."
Elidal says, "Mayor Thadston has sent me a letter, seeking a meeting with myself, and the council and elements of town." Elidal says, "I suppose he meant, you all." Leafiara amusedly repeats, "'The elements of town'..." [shortly after...] Irval falls over. Irval rolls back and forth on the ground wildly, the bones sewn into his longcloak making a cacophony of rattling noises Is he doing some sort of strange ritual? Speaking to Irval, Leafiara concedes, "You know, I have to concur with Mayor Thadston. Describing some of you people as 'the elements of town' really is the most polite way to put it."
Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "I did have one other question, though it is also not a happy one." Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "What do you plan to do if the Rooks do start to kidnap your people? They move in ways we cannot always preempt, as I'm sure you know if you researched us." Elidal says, "Tonight is a night only for happy questions." Elidal chuckles. Speaking to Kiyna, Kayse advises, "Repeat it with a happy inflection."
Elidal says, "We will address the Rooks as needed, when and if that time comes. It is quite possible that reason can still win out." Elidal says, "Perhaps, their masks only allow them to view us as conquerers right now. Who is to say otherwise? Time may change that." Leafiara jests, "Reason winning out around here? You sure you've studied our history?" Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "It's happened... at least once." Elidal says, "Oh yes, I am well aware of their past leadership and tactics." Speaking to Leafiara, Kiyna says, "In our defense, we did just recently release a krolvin leader from custody with an agreement. Strange times." Leafiara clarifies, "Oh, I didn't mean just with the Rooks. I mean the Landing in general." Elidal says, "I will not fool myself, but I will also not still try." [I think he means to either have two nots there or none.] Speaking to Kiyna, Leafiara says, "See, you might think of that as a victory for reason--except for the part where the citizens rioted and attempted to kill those of us escorting him." Speaking amusedly to Leafiara, Tikba says, "'Attempted?'."

Snowfall
The sky is filled with a blanket of low clouds, pale and unmoving. Sounds seem muffled and the air feels thick and takes on a quiet stillness.
Leafiara says, "Hm."

Poised on the very edge of a canyon wall, you look upon the brink of a seemingly bottomless pit, your feet threatening to slip out from beneath you and plunge you into the dark depths below. The distance across the chasm is not too great, and you ponder the wisdom of trying to cross it. You also see the flaming Saraphenia disk.

Your surroundings blur into a white fog . . .
[Courtyard]
A well maintained and healthy garden occupies the entirety of the courtyard. The air here is cool and crisp, but the bulk of the monastery shelters you from wind and makes the air bracing instead of chilling. In the center of the garden is a natural spring bubbling up several inches above the surface of the encircling pool of crystal clear water. A large stone and iron gate blocks the entrance to the monastery flanked by a statue of a woman carrying a crystal staff and a set of crystalline keys facing a second statue of a kneeling young man bedecked in battle-worn black chain armor. You also see a large fel tree and a scorched black marble bench with some stuff on it.

There are small boulders scattered amidst the trees, firmly imbedded in the ground and covered by a light coating of lichen. The air is brisk and cool, a pleasant spot to rest and enjoy the forest. A barely discernible path winds through the rocks, ending at a haphazardly built wooden gate. You also see the Dwi disk, the Gutstorm disk, a quartz crystal, the sparking Dendum disk and a resplendent obsidian black raven that is flying around.

[Town Square Central]
This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. The Rooks' Message
Dark hooded figures move along the rooftops of town, like shadowy gargoyles amidst the falling snow.
Speaking to Elliathe, Kiyna says, "We'll see if they have the ability to clear the place out."
Speaking to Alosaka, Guarrin says, "One hopes."
Speaking to Guarrin, Bellaja says, "Sadly, they stood out a little as they looked a little..."
Nairena asks, "Rooks?"
Citan deeply says, "Well that is not Gouda."
Markx says to Julenne, "You, madam, are an infectious, pig-eyed pigeon-egg!"
Markx says, "O. Well that bodes well."

Alosaka says, "If the Landing is to become a true city, it will need more than merely natural growth. We must be a beacon to all who desire a safe and secure home."

Speaking dramatically to Markx, Leafiara exclaims, "Find out! In... probably less than five minutes!"

Guarrin says, "Let's hope things remain peaceful."

Alosaka says, "I would be happy to have all the world's displaced and suffering, for from those teeming masses we could forge a mighty home."
Speaking to Leafiara, Markx says, "Typically there's somethin ya say before the find out part, but I'll leave that up to you."
Evialla yells, "Ye all just sweeping snow off the shingles eh? Best be all.."
Speaking to Alosaka, Guarrin says, "A fine thought. Perhaps not practical, but I appreciate the intent."
From nearby, you hear Pookia yell, "Doin my duty!"

Vaemyr says, "Honestly though, isn't it a bit dangerous running across houses in the snow? I would think the roofs get very slippery with ice."
Evialla says, "Would be the first arrow there, so...a trophy for them."
Yardie says, "Fair enoug. A moment."

The flicker of fire appears upon a rooftop of Wehnimer's Landing.
Elliathe says, "Oh no."
Mourdeyan quietly asks, "Firin the roofs?"
Nairena yells, "Careful up there!"
Markx asks, "Someone we are fallin in on for when this hits the fan?"
The voice of Thrassus says, "Wonderful..."

A second spark of fire glows from a nearby rooftop.
[Realm] Yukito exclaims, "How often does the town need to be on fire? Put that out!"
Ulfwine says, "That or they are signals."
Tikba shortly says, "Buckets in Moot Hall."
Mourdeyan quietly says, "Or firebugs."
Mystiq says, "Nope they are setting the town on fire."
You hear Thrassus yell, "Great, just set the town on fire why don't you?"
Markx says, "O great. Tryin to burn the town down. Once the roofs go up, it all goes up."
Alosaka says, "The snow will smother the fires."
Cryheart yells, "Stop that whoever is on the roof!"
Vaemyr says, "That would be pretty out of character I'd think."
Speaking to Markx, Bellaja says, "Especially in Shantytown."
Guarrin says, "Should we head for the buckets already."
[Realm] Yardie thinks, "You all and fire."
[Realm] Yukito thinks, "Well... yes, exactly Alosaka."
From nearby, you hear Dwi yell, "Join Cryheart inna stoppin woteber dat is!"
Evialla yells, "Constable...arson on the roofs!"
Irval exclaims, "Everyone launch our flares at once. Let us Illuminate that which tries to remain unseen!"
Markx yells, "In Common please!"
Vaemyr says, "Maybe I'll go climb up on top of the Moothall and see if I can see better from there..."
Moments pass, and a dozen rooftops become aglow from torchlight. Standing in the shadow of the fire, are dark hooded figures with grey-beaked masks. They stand silent, the gleam of their beaks dusted with snow.
Speaking amusedly to Vaemyr, Leafiara says, "Good luck."
Kiyna says, "If they're Rooks, lighting the town up doesn't make any sense. They would be after the settler's encampment."
Avalera says, "Oh, what the...."
Kisun says, "Maybe they just want to talk."

One by one, the Rooks kick the bodies before them and send them flying over the edge of the rooftops! The bindings on the bodies suddenly go tight as each body falls from the roof, almost landing on the street but are suddenly stopped mid-air as the rope pulls back, jerking on the necks of the bodies, causing them to dangle in the night and some even smacking against walls.
Speaking to Yardie, Stormyrain says, "I'm not sure you could make it before they do whatever ---"
Dwi heartily says, "If'n Pukk aint here...I gitta say it."

The Rooks pick up and drop their torches on the hanging straw corpses and the flames instantly ignite, setting the fake bodies up into a wreath of fire! The hooded figures turn quietly and disappear into the darkness of night, leaving the burning glow along several buildings.

Settlement
Some settlers continue to cart off supplies and lumber, adding to the heavy traffic along a wide dirt-covered trail in the depths of the Lower Dragonsclaw. Smoke rises from the area, accompanied by the smoky aroma of cooked meat.
Yardie mutters, "It's as the Imperatrix says...order. One must maintain order."
Vaemyr says, "Well... no one died, heck I don't even know exctly what their little demonstration means."
Ulfwine says, "Setting up their camp."
Pookia asks, "About the after dinner show? thats what the synchronized burning was right?"

The ground shifts from flat forest to jagged hillside, the trees thinning out as the ground gets rougher and rockier. The oaks disappear farther up the slope, leaving the modwirs to dominate the hill. You also see a velnalin.

Stumps pepper the spacious clearing, as stacked logs leave evidence of their recent removal. A grove of trees surrounds the area, leaving a natural palisade to add some security to the campsite. You also see the sparking Dendum disk, a resplendent obsidian black raven that is flying around, a wide dirt-covered trail and a polished bronze lantern mounted on a wooden post.
[OOC note: rather than showing off the new area in a log, I'd encourage everyone to explore it for themselves, including speaking with the (stationary) NPCs. I've left the way in displayed in the log, but will be cutting out the other rooms as well as the NPC dialogue--though I've left in explanations of the prompts to be used. Alosaka has already mapped the area for those using Lich.]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. The dock's planks are dull and weathered from the salt spray of many seasons. Northward beyond the massive sea gates, a flock of ice geese passes, silhouetted against the sky over the waters of Darkstone Bay. The hulk of a derelict coastal sailer is tethered to the end of the pier. [Town Square Central]
This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Takaeshi disk, an ivy-covered white monir tower, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, a round silver-banded barrel, an herbal remedy donation bin and some wide stone benches with some stuff on it.

Leafiara amiably says, "Well, as the Rook Queen, let me go instruct my subjects that we need to forget about this burning strawmen idea and just move to Kraken's Fall."
