Synopsis
Lord Elidal comes to the Landing gates to await the caravan with Lady Aronia and the Green Sisters, but it seems to be late on arrival. He says Commander Sablo is already out there as he'd intended to guard the rear, but hasn't heard word from him and asks if anyone will help scout. A few do. Mnar reports odd mounds in the Upper Trollfang, but Councilor Kayse and Meril relay that the mounds had already been there. Rasson does report wasps in the mounds, though. Meanwhile, Kelfyr spots nothing in Danjirland and Councilor Vaemyr spots nothing in the Foothills of the Upper Trollfang.
Finally Perigourd finds them near the Zeltoph: scorched wagons and burned corpses, with only a few empty and undamaged wagons nearby. Sir Cryheart's group goes to search the area for survivors and Drazaa notices faint tracks in the snow heading north to the Trollfang. As the group moves that way, a wisp of green smoke curls up in the distance and Elidal says it's her, then sends a thought not to move or speak since the enemy has ears, but the group will find them.
This and the signal fire are enough to alert Gnul that someone survived, so he commences a hunt as his forces mob the area. However, Dendum locates Aronia in a cottage and Cryheart's group makes its way there, finding her and Sister Filanci--who realize they might be the only survivors when they see no one in the crowd is from the wagons. A portal gets them to safety.
Gnul isn't done with his attack, however, as he reveals that he kept some the people from the caravan--and then launches weighted nets full of broken people with feathers nailed into their flesh to splatter onto the roads. He asks if the lady pirate wants some and sends another volley of bodies into the Hendoran outpost, then says he shouldn't leave out the baron king and his monster man before sending a third volley of bodies into the Imperial campsite. The sound of a horn follos and Gnul's forces withdraw for the time being.

Log
Awaiting the Green Sisters
[Town Square Central] This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Selucia disk, the Maleagant disk, the icy blue Qwizzer disk, a plump brown frog, the Linguist disk, a masked owl, the Stormyrain disk, the Crendain disk, the flaming Nairena disk, a thin-fingered dark grey tarsier that is sitting, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a hummingbird feather, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a dagger, a large acorn, a large acorn, a fluffy white cat, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, some wide stone benches with some stuff on it, an herbal remedy donation bin and a round silver-banded barrel.

Speaking drunkenly to Mourdeyan, Gutstorm slurs, "More."

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "Grippinsh...define."
Elliathe says, "Indeed."

Lylia says, "I doubt we are going to find ourselves troubled by griffins again, at least no time soon."
Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi asks, "Oh..ye meant buzzerds?"
Speaking to Lylia, Elliathe says, "Though those griffins were hardly the only 'death from above' Gnul had."
Mourdeyan says, "Never thought t'fly, never wish to again in that manner."
Scouting Ahead
Elidal says, "Does.."
Elidal asks, "Would anyone scout?"
Irval asks, "While we are waiting, anyone else get the reports of Gnul's forces making a show in the bowels tonight. Outside of the normal ones?"
Speaking to Elidal, Missoni says, "Perigourd has gone to do just that."
Vaemyr says, "I will head out to the trollfang."
Mnar says, "We have a scout or two among us, eii."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "We should git Cryheart a shiller grippin to ride."
Speaking to Elidal, Drazaa says, "I imagine a number of us would."
Elidal nods.
Kayse whispers something to Drazaa.

Mourdeyan says, "There was a migration of ....trolls it seems."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "I'll return or think on thought if I see anything."
Mnar asks, "What are we looking for, exactly?"
Speaking to Elidal, Missoni asks, "Is there a particular path I should inform him of?"
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me shcout?"
Speaking to Mnar, Guarrin says, "A caravan."

Elidal slowly empties his lungs.
Speaking to Elidal, Missoni says, "He is already in the foothills, it seems."
Cryheart asks, "Hard to wait, isn't it?"
Elidal says, "Sablo has not sent word either. So he has not found anything. He had hoped to circle behind the caravans, provide rear support."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "No banditsh in datavern."
Irval says, "I will scry to him."
[General] Mnar thinks, "There is an odd mound at the fork in the Trollfang."
Speaking heartily to Cryheart, Dwi says, "Waitin is da easy part... cleanin up da axe..not so much."
Dwi heartily says, "I was rong."
Lylia whispers something to Xorus.

Missoni curiously says, "A mound..."
Speaking drunkenly to Cryheart, Gutstorm slurs, "Take a shippy ship."
[General] Vaemyr thinks, "Other mounds in the Trollfang as well."
Speaking heartily to Evia, Dwi says, "Gittin Guts to bring us booze...a rarity."
[General] Kayse slowly asks, "I am pretty sure those have been there...no?"
[General] Cryheart thinks, "Hearing reports of several mounds."
[General] Vaemyr thinks, "Perhaps? I... can't remember."
Evia asks, "Mounds of what?"
[General] Kelfyr thinks, "There's a red substance on it."
Cryheart says, "Hearing repors of several now."
Speaking heartily to Cryheart, Dwi exclaims, "One wont kill ye!"
[General] Kelfyr thinks, "Some sort of residue."
Cryheart says, "Sorry."
Irval says, "Hmm."
Cryheart says, "Not while on duty."

[General] Meril thinks, "The mounds are not unusual."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Dooty shmooty."
Missoni says, "Normal landmarks sometimes look odd in the snow."
[General] Mnar thinks, "Thank you, Meril."
Speaking heartily to Cryheart, Dwi says, "Ye kin be releef'd."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Drink like ye gotta pair Cryheart."
Avalera asks, "You don't suppose they could be...graves?"
[General] Kiyna thinks, "Careful. Could be a trap of some kind."
Cryheart says, "I dinnae need to drink for that."
[General] Irval asks, "Any alchemist able to push forward and see if the red substance can be analyzed?"
Evia says, "Could be dung heaps for all we know, covered in snow."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Dat mean yoo finely admittin to all dem kidsh at da orpinich?"

Cryheart asks, "What is our command, Lord Elidal?"
Speaking to Evia, Kiyna says, "Let's hope that's all it is."

Elidal says, "Especially when we are gifted with the ability to shape tomorrow, by the actions of today."
Irval asks, "Did you have the route they would take Lord Elidal?"
Elidal nods at Lylia.
[General] Cryheart thinks, "Mound was constructed of acorns."
Speaking to Gutstorm, Lylia asks, "Does that mean I should buy you tomorrow and not today?"
[General] Mnar thinks, "Oh, those poor Voln initiates."
Speaking to Elidal, Elliathe says, "The weather is even worse to the North tonight."
Lylia nods in agreement at Elidal.

Elidal says, "Either through Trollfang or up near Vornavis, I did not know. The caravans at times change routes based on the terrain, and other dangers or weather."
Mourdeyan says, "Very."
Nazca melodically asks, "Acorn mounds?"
Shork says, "You can kick the mounds and they disappear."
Elidal says, "Wouldn't it be a great surprise if they glided into Darkstone Bay suddenly..."
Elidal chuckles.
Dwi yells, "Cryheart's sober! Join him!"
Cryheart says, "Some of the mounds hae wasps I am hearing."
Evia says, "Good thing patrols keep it clear of bandits."
Mourdeyan says, "Indeed."
Irval says, "Thats not very specific..."
Speaking to Elidal, Missoni says, "It would be a delight."
Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine says, ""That would be the smart thing for them to have done."
Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "I imagine even you're not completely aware where they are at any given time. I suspect you've had a logistics specialist organize it."
Dwi heartily says, "Guts gittin more bad rum."
Speaking to Elidal, Elliathe admits, "That would be quite a pleasant change of pace."
Mourdeyan says, "Praps modes of travel run in tha family."
Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "Krol were spotted heading north from Vornavis today. Arriving before them would be good timing indeed."
[General] Vaemyr thinks, "No sign of any wagons down through the Foothills toward Vornavis either."
[General] Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "Which way wagon come?"
Speaking to Elidal, Raelee says, "We should discuss teleportation with your brother. It takes some effort, power, and planning... but moving large groups is possible."
Nazca melodically says, "I mat know where to check."
Cryheart says, "No sighting of wagons yet."
[General] Bellaja thinks, "They are normal nests. Nothing to trouble over."
[General] Perigourd exclaims, "I found them!"
[General] Irval thinks, "Supposidely through trollfang or up near Vornavis. Potentionally even a ship into the harbor..."
Speaking heartily to Goldstr, Dwi says, "Ye missed da rum swillin, Gazer."
Cryheart says, "Wait."
Elidal says, "A method they will always, always come to expect."
Bellaja exclaims, "He's found them!!"
Missoni says, "Ah, Perigourd has found them."
Elidal nods at Raelee.
Speaking to Elidal, Elliathe asks, "Still no word from Sablo either?"
[General] Yukito exclaims, "Excellent!"
[General] Cryheart asks, "Where Perigourd?"
Guarrin says, "Perigourd is with them. Near Zeltoph."
[General] Perigourd exclaims, "By the Zeltoph, they seem to have been attacked!"
Speaking to Raelee, Kiyna asks, "Can large amounts of goods be so transported? Wagons, and so forth?"
Tikba says, "The wagons are not safe."
Irval says, "The Zeltoph's base..."
Elidal asks, "He has?"
Missoni says, "The wagons do not look good."
Irval asks, "Why would they be there?"
Elidal blinks.
Irval says, "Oh no..."
Elidal says, "...."
Speaking heartily to Goldstr, Dwi says, "Ye also missed me hollerin at Cryheart."
Irval says, "Uh..."
Guarrin adds, "They seem to have been under attack."
Speaking to Kiyna, Raelee says, "A portal is but a shortcut in geometry. Anything can follow it."
Irval says, "Elidal. You need to prepare yourself."
Tikba shortly says, "We should seek them."
Elidal says, "Get me there."
Elidal says, "Now."
Elidal put a small crystal dirt-filled vial that is suspended from a thin leather cord in his wool cape.
[General] Urpy thinks, "Enroute."
[General] Mnar thinks, "The, ah..."
[travel]
[General] Stormyrain thinks, "We are on the way."
Missoni says, "He is not with us."
[travel back]
Elidal says, "Did he...."
Speaking to Lylia, Guarrin says, "Perigourd is there already...he would have mentioned."
Dwi heartily exclaims, "Onwards!"
Elidal smirks.
[General] Gutstorm drunkenly thinks, "Deez wagonsh fireproof, dey no decoy."
Cryheart says, "Join me."
Elidal joins Cryheart's group.
[General] Mnar thinks, "They were set aflame. There are... many bodies here."
[travel]
Speaking to Bristenn, Ifanna whispers aloud, "Sure this a good idea ser?"
Guarrin whispers something to Elidal.
Bristenn simply answers, "I am not."
[General] Vaemyr thinks, "I found some unburnt wagons further down."
Elidal glances at Guarrin.
Elidal clenches his jaw.
[General] Mnar thinks, "Some undamaged wagons to the south. Abandoned."
Irval says, "Onward."
Dwi heartily says, "Dat was prolley da inbasion."
Cryheart asks, "See em?"
Dwi heartily says, "Tahoo trolls anna orc."
Irval says, "Zeltoph base."
Elidal removes a small crystal dirt-filled vial that is suspended from a thin leather cord from in his wool cape.
Irval says, "Cryheart."
Speaking to Irval, Stormyrain says, "Raelee is working on transporting us."
Speaking to Cryheart, Raelee says, "I do."
[General] Urpy thinks, "Was it the orcs."
Cryheart asks, "Port us there?"
Speaking to Elidal, Lylia asks, "Does she usually travel at the head of the caravan, or does she prefer to remain toward its tail when she travels?"
Raelee says, "This is too many people."
[General] Mnar thinks, "I don't imagine orcs could have done this."
Raelee says, "I am not prepared for large scale."
Tikba shortly says, "Take who you can."
Speaking heartily to Raelee, Dwi says, "Gotta map/."
Elidal asks, "She is like me, among the people at all times. Her place is everywhere, if that makes sense?"
Elidal peers quizzically at Lylia.
Raelee says, "Just..."
[General] Urpy thinks, "There's enough of them for a warband here."
Missoni says, "I will find my own way if that is helpful."
Lylia says, "Very much so."
Raelee says, "Go. I will reopen it as needed."
You follow Cryheart as he steps through the shifting portal.
Empty Wagons and Scorched Wagons
[Zeltoph Switchbacks]
Bits of cloth are stuck to the rock wall where others have boldly climbed up to a ledge that shadows the trail. Huddling under the ledge would also provide protection from the occasional showers of rocks that rain down from above. You also see the crab-shaped Rasson disk, a silver-tipped smoke grey wolf, a shifting portal, a bushy-tailed golden brown coyote, a sapphire-eyed pale golden margay, a grizzled porcupine, the Meril disk, a joyous swamp spirit that is flying around, the Kelfyr disk, a seed-eyed dusky-grained zebrawood mandrake sprouting sprigs of Imaera's Lace, a pale-faced coppery barn owl that is flying around, the repousse copper Perigourd disk raised in leafy designs, a large covered imperial wagon, a large covered imperial wagon and a large covered imperial wagon.
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Makin shore dey empy."
>l wag
The wagon appears worn slightly from time and weather, but otherwise in good shape. Several belongings, packs, and crates still line the inside of the wagon, but no settlers are present.
Drazaa says, "It's possible some fled to safety."
Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "These seem abandoned."
Speaking to Cryheart, Mnar says, "There are more wagons north. Many corpses."
Elidal slowly empties his lungs.
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me got dibs on da wagon loot."
Elidal stands in front of a large covered imperial wagon.
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "I'm sorry..."
Speaking to Raelee, Lylia says, "Thank you."
Elidal peeks inside each wagon frantically.
Irval says, "Spread out."
Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "Some dem finnerwagglers shy'd off frem bringin dis many folks. ye should be proud."
Stormyrain says, "I do not sense any lingering lore."
Irval says, "Search for survivors."
Elidal says, "Their bags, their belongings..."
Elidal asks, "Where are the...the burnt wagons?"
Dwi heartily says, "Also...I jus needa map."
Sir Cryheart's group just went northeast.
[Zeltoph Switchbacks]
Narrowing severely, the trail bends around a rock outcropping that appears to have grown from the side of the mountain. You stay close to the western side of the trail after glancing cautiously over the edge and seeing that the bottom is several hundred feet below. You also see a massive snowy white tiger, a thin-fingered dark grey tarsier, a buoyant sun spirit that is flying around, a lazy wild dark red dog, a greater orc that appears rather calm, a burnt corpse and a burnt corpse.
>l corps
The corpse was once a humanoid, with all other identifying features burned away by the fire that scorched the corpse to death. The body's skin is charred along almost every inch, the flesh blackened and cracked like the barren earth of a wasteland.
Mourdeyan says, "All gone, praps they are afoot."
Evia yells, "Can anyone hear us?"
Elidal slowly empties his lungs.
Elidal clenches his jaw.
Mnar says, "There are more."
From nearby, you hear Gutstorm yell, "Nope!"
Dwi heartily exclaims, "Wait!"
Elidal put a small crystal dirt-filled vial that is suspended from a thin leather cord in his wool cape.
Dwi heartily exclaims, "Onwards!"
Stormyrain quietly says, "I do not sense any lingering lore."
Cryheart says, "Gads."
Guarrin says, "Burnt. While fleeing, perhaps."
Ulfwine says, "This is awful."
Cryheart says, "Cannae recognize the bodies."
Elliathe says, "Truly awful."
Vaemyr says, "The wagons are a bit further..."
Elidal slowly walks among the burnt corpses, as silent and still as them himself. His eyes have teared, his jaw clenched tight.
Mnar notes, "Just more orc tracks."
Elidal kneels down.
Elidal looks over one of the corpses, then another.
Tikba urgently asks, "Elidal, how many were their party?"
Elidal says, "Dozens per wagon...."
Bellaja says, "Oh my."
Nazca melodically says, "Try one of these."
Speaking to Elidal, Nairena says, "Im sorry."
Grimguls begins drawing a faint, twisting symbol as he utters an arcane invocation in hushed tones...
Grimguls gestures at a burnt corpse.
Grimguls's spell misfires.
Grimguls says, "Too gone."
Ulfwine says, "So perhaps some have been taken."
Mnar says, "There... are not that many bodies."
Kelfyr says, "There's a cave west-southwest of here. If there were survivors, they may have hid in there. None responded to my call, but I'm not a friendly voice."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Prolly da Ta'vaalor elfsh."
Cryheart says, "Well..we shall nae give up yet."
Tikba says, "Then we do not know all their fates."
Speaking to Ulfwine, Perigourd says, "Or escaped."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Well... there are not dozens of corpses, there could still be a possibility that some escaped."
Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "We dont know that any of these are her Eli. She still could of gotten away."
Elidal stands up.
Mourdeyan says, "Praps it's but a ploy."
Lord Elidal just went northeast.
Sir Cryheart's group just went northeast.
[Zeltoph Switchbacks]
On a trailbed built from crushed rock and bone-aching labor, the caravan trail climbs the base of Zeltoph Mountain from northeast to southwest. You also see the skull-shaped Irval disk, an animated flayed gigas disciple, a buoyant sun spirit that is flying around, a sapphire-eyed pale golden margay, a burnt corpse, a burnt corpse and a scorched and ruined wooden wagon.
Speaking to Perigourd, Guarrin says, "Let us hope for the latter."
Earthdiver says, "Having a friendly voice is an undervalued skill."
Elidal glances at a scorched and ruined wooden wagon.
Earthdiver says, "It's easy to be loud. But hard to be loud AND friendly."
Speaking to Guarrin, Perigourd says, "Knowing the Commander, it is likely he took Aronia and fled with her to protect her."
Bellaja says, "It doesn't matter who they are. It's all unacceptable."
Nairena says, "Vaalorians wouldnt do that."
Elidal says, "There are...."
Irval asks, "That her wagon?"
Elidal says, "There are bodies within the wagons...."
Speaking to a scorched and ruined wooden wagon, Tikba murmurs, "These were children."
>l wag
The wagon, if you can call it that, is mostly a pile of wooden framework and charred remnants. Smoke still billows up from its blackened husk. Within the ruin is the form of several, severely burnt corpses, many of them the size of younger humanoids.
Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "Three more wagons to the northeast. All burnt..."
Mnar says, "The Caravansary is just around the next bend. They may have taken shelter there."
Cryheart says, "Moe wagons all over."
Elidal says, "Some..."
Earthdiver says, "Children."
Ulfwine says, "CHildren."
Elidal turns quickly, pushing away from the crowd and vomits near a tree.
Kelfyr says, "That would be past the attack point, but they could have slipped through."
Rasson says, "Spoils of war."
Irval says, "Quick give the man something stout to wash it away with."
Mourdeyan says, "A travesty."
Mnar says, "I'll, ah, check the Caravansary."
Dwi heartily says, "War spoils lots."
Speaking in Guildspeak, Dendum asks something you don't understand.
Speaking to Elidal, Tikba whispers aloud, "It will pass."
[General] Stormyrain somberly thinks, "Sablo if you are within the reaches of these thoughts, you should work towards us, we are near the Zeltoph Switchbacks. Your Lord needs you."
Guarrin grimly says, "More ahead, as well."
Missoni whispers aloud, "Someone will answer for this."
Cryheart says, "Keep up hope still."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "We bury da dead?"
Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "There's a duty to find any survivors that must be attended, Lord."
Meril says, "All this would have happened not long ago, yes? At least, by the condition of the wagons and bodies..."
Elliathe asks, "Doesn't Gnul usually like to boast about his handiwork?"
Elidal straightens himself, wiping his mouth, and staring for a long, long moment at the wagons and corpses.
Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "Come now Lord Elidal. You must be strong. Head up. We know nothing for certain yet."
Speaking heartily to Elliathe, Dwi asks, "Knittin?"
Speaking to Mnar, Guarrin asks, "No sign?"
Cryheart asks, "How far did ye see wagons?"
Speaking to Irval, Dendum asks, ""Err...you think this is illusion of the dead?"
Speaking to Irval, Stormyrain growls, "He knows that some of his people are dead in a terrible way."
Tikba quietly says, "The wagons to the northeast are also burnt."
Irval says, "Im speaking towards the Lady."
Speaking to Elidal, Nairena says, "We could espand out and look for possible fleeing tracks."
Speaking to Guarrin, Mnar says, "No sign. I don't think anyone made it that far. They may have backtracked, though I don't know where to, except Varunar."
Vaemyr says, "There are unfortunately still more burnt wagons to the north east..."
Elidal slowly empties his lungs.
Tikba quietly says, "We should look at those."
Cryheart says, "How many more wagons."
Speaking angrily to Irval, Stormyrain says, "And he leads not just a lady but many. How insensitive of you."
Speaking to Cryheart, Missoni says, "Three."
Speaking to Mnar, Kiyna says, "Varunar is not a good place to flee to..."
Elidal says, "The abandoned wagons..."
Bellaja says, "A little different outside the borders of the Empire."
Dwi heartily says, "Der's dead down der too."
Speaking to Mnar, Perigourd says, "There's a cabin, but in a melee that large, they may have pushed past the battle lines North as well."
[General] Urpy thinks, "It looks like the wagons were full... of young ones."
Elidal asks, "Did we look for signs of fleeing?"
Elidal asks, "Of...anything?"
Speaking to Elidal, Mnar says, "We still are."
Cryheart asks, "See any tracks?"
Speaking heartily to Cryheart, Dwi says, "Moobit."
Elidal says, "Let's go back there."
Mourdeyan says, "Some would say, if found ina deathly predicament, any port in a storm."
Kelfyr says, "There's a cave near, and well further south, a cabin and a barn."
Speaking carefully to Elidal, Guarrin says, "We can return, Scout and others were investigating that area."
Ulfwine asks, "The cave to our south? Has it been looked in?"
Cryheart says, "Join me lord."
Lylia says, "I saw footprints, but it was impossible to tell if they were our own or not, with the snow."
Kiyna says, "I checked the cave."
Kiyna says, "Nothing."
Kelfyr says, "As did I."
Dwi heartily asks, "Hmm dat cabe?"
Meril says, "Were they attacked with magical fire? The scorch patterns would be unusual for something more natural."
Dwi heartily says, "Neber been nuffin inna dat cabe."
Cryheart says, "Ye need to be with a group, as his area is still dangerous."
Speaking to Meril, Raelee says, "... possible."
Speaking melodically to Meril, Urpy says, "Whatever it was, it took them fast. No time to escape the wagons."
Elidal kneels down.
Mourdeyan says, "Then perhaps none would find em there."
[General] Coins asks, "Veal is on the menu?"
Nairena says, "Its not wise to call out if the enemy is close by."
Elliathe asks, "More of those fire catapults like they used on us, perhaps?"
Kelfyr says, "I'll try further south, past the stream. If they ran hard, they may have found shelter there."
Earthdiver says, "We would take care of them."
Bristenn notes, "There's the old farmhouse, out on the plateau."
Evia says, "So close to the little caravansary."
Speaking to Elliathe, Vaemyr says, "I'm not sure... we'll need to inspect things closer later... but now isn't the time."
Bristenn slowly adds, "..that, could provide something. Some clues, perhaps, though it's some ways south."
Elidal clenches his jaw.
Tikba says, "We must return to the whole wagons."
Elidal says, "Take me to the abandoned wagons."
Elidal joins Cryheart's group.
Tikba says, "Those survived."
Speaking to Goldstr, Mourdeyan asks, "Want t'go check them?"
[Zeltoph Switchbacks]
Bits of cloth are stuck to the rock wall where others have boldly climbed up to a ledge that shadows the trail. Huddling under the ledge would also provide protection from the occasional showers of rocks that rain down from above. You also see a greater orc, a greater orc, a greater orc, a bushy-tailed golden brown coyote, a large covered imperial wagon, a large covered imperial wagon and a large covered imperial wagon.
Mnar says, "Nothing out to the castle."
Mnar asks, "There may be a Grimswarm camp. Do we have any Masters here who can search for their paths?"
Nairena says, "The wagons show no signs of burns."
Kelfyr says, "No one in the cabin nor the barn on the far side of the river."
Meril says, "If the attackers ambushed the caravan with such... overwhelming power, then they would also have had the means of taking the survivors elsewhere."
Kiyna says, "...I do sense the Grimswarm somewhere nearby."
Tikba says, "There is a camp nearby, but not here."
Mnar says, "Hm."
Cryheart asks, "See any tracks?"
Bellaja asks, "Does it look like they picked out some specific wagons?"
Speaking to Cryheart, Mnar says, "Just orcs. All over orcs."
Nairena says, "Its like the humans were startled, dismounted to set up a defense, then set on fire."
Mourdeyan says, "And its a good sign these wagons weren't razed as all the rest."
[General] Gutstorm drunkenly thinks, "Owlie huntin orcsh."
Vaemyr says, "I'm going to look a bit further down the pass... just in case."
Kelfyr says, "Nothing but orc prints and our boots."
Earthdiver says, "It means they left before whatever got here."
[General] Drazaa thinks, "I am noticing some tracks in the snow. Faintly."
[General] Directed to Drazaa, Stormyrain asks, "Where?"
[General] Cryheart asks, "Aye?"
Earthdiver says, "There may have been some advanced warning."
Stormyrain says, "Drazaa reports some faint tracks in the snow."
Nairena says, "Only focused elemental attacks can be that accurate."
Elidal asks, "Where do they lead?"
Nairena says, "And effective."
Tikba says, "Further down the path, but before the stream."
Kelfyr says, "I do see something."
Kelfyr says, "To the north."
[General] Cryheart asks, "Where do they lead to?"
[General] Drazaa thinks, "They appear to head northly to the Trollfang."
Stormyrain says, "Northly to the Trollfang."
Kelfyr says, "Back towards the Trollfang."
Guarrin says, "The switchbacks....heading north though."
Evia says, "Cardinal directions pleeeease."
Kiyna says, "If there are tracks, we must follow them immediately. We'll lose them quickly in the snow."
Tikba says, "My mistake."
Elidal nods.
Elidal nods.
Elidal says, "Go then."
[travel throughout all this next bit]
Speaking to Drazaa, Kayse inquires, "Do you see any more?"
Cryheart says, "Look carefully for tracks."
Cryheart says, "Moving."
Mnar says, "The Caravansary is just down the path. I can't imagine they would have passed it without seeking shelter inside."
Speaking quietly to herself, Elliathe mumbles, "Sad waste of life."
Cryheart says, "Moving."
Speaking to Mnar, Guarrin asks, "You looked there already though, yes?"
Finding Aronia
A small wisp of green smoke curls up above the Upper Trollfang a faint moment then burns away.
Speaking to Stormyrain, Nairena says, "I know the landing has stables. Perhaps we could bring some here to pull the wagons into the settlement. Just so the supplies are not lost or taken by the surrounding orcs, trolls, or bad guys."
Cryheart says, "Moving."
[just assume a ton of travel is going on throughout this section]
Elidal gazes up into the heavens.
Elidal exclaims, "That is Aronia!"
Kelfyr says, "Fire on the horizon."
Elliathe asks, "Did anyone else see that?"
Irval says, "Yes."
Evia says, "Yah."
Elidal says, "She hasn't done that since..."
Elidal says, "Well, we were younger."
Irval says, "Quickly now everyone..."
Ulfwine says, "It seems she lives."
Kiyna says, "For now. Let's move quickly."
Meril says, "We are not here to steal from the gnolls. Let us keep on the trail."
Mourdeyan says, "Gah."
[General] Elidal thinks, "Do not move. Do not speak. We will find you. Our enemy has ears."
Mourdeyan says, "Dead thieves canna be questioned."
Irval says, "We must make haste before others see the signal."
[General] Gutstorm drunkenly thinks, "Me moved."
Guarrin says, "No saign as far as the grasslands from Mnar."
Meril says, "We must reach the Trollfang."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Ye meshin witme webs Earthdiver."
[General] Gnul thinks, "If it makes you feel any better, those little humans of yours squirmed and squealed louder than a pen of pigs when the fires licked them."
Bristenn remarks, "It could have come from the old fallen tree, or the swamp."
Bristenn grouses, "Forest's vast."
Elidal clenches his jaw.
[General] Azclepi thinks, "Signal fire: A small wisp of green smoke curls up above the Upper Trollfang a faint moment then burns away."
Earthdiver says, "Hard habit to break."
Elliathe growls, "Gnul."
[General] Urpy thinks, "So you've chosen death..."
Earthdiver says, "Webs mean death in some places."
Lylia says, "Certainly for insects."
Earthdiver says, "The great worms in the north cast webs."
[General] Gnul thinks, "Sounds like the little green bird only has a broken wing. What a shame. But we like a good hunt..."
[General] Tikba quietly asks, "Good evening, Gnul. How is your hatchery today?"
Cryheart says, "I see nothing yet."
Kelfyr says, "Seems as if we may have competition in the search."
Lylia says, "He wishes to race us."
Mourdeyan says, "Aye, Gnul searches."
Speaking to Elidal, Nairena asks, "What is her name?"
Ulfwine yells, ""Lady Aronia!"
[General] Urpy thinks, "May Onar bless us as we present his gift to your host."
[General] Mnar thinks, "Minotaurs in the trollfang."
[General] Mnar thinks, "North of the bridge."
Cryheart asks, "See anything?"
Tikba says, "Ah, his troops have arrived."
Tikba says, "We must be more careful north of here."
Kelfyr says, "We may have lost a few folks at the tree crossing."
Mnar says, "They're here."
[combat commences from here, so editing pares down heavily]
Tikba says, "Dendum has found them."
Ifanna quickly urges, "Th' cottage?"
Kelfyr says, "Inside a cottage."
Tikba says, "They are safe in a cottage."
Guarrin says, "Aye the cottage."
Speaking to Elidal, Tikba says, "She is alive."
Elidal nods at Tikba.
Elidal nods at Tikba.
Elidal asks, "Where is she?"
[Upper Trollfang]
A small cottage stands in this small and very secluded glen. Smoke is curling lazily from the high chimney and drifts gently into the surrounding wood. Behind the cottage can be seen a quiet pool that has formed below a bubbling spring. You also see a silver-tipped smoke grey wolf and a resplendent obsidian black raven that is flying around.
[back to normal editing as combat has ceased for the moment]
Speaking quickly to Elidal, Bristenn urges, "Head in."
Bristenn remarks, "We'll guard here."
[General] The ghost of Urpy thinks, "Walls breeched, militia, Heave to! defend the town."
Sir Cryheart's group just went through a heavy door.
[Inside Cottage]
You are in the main room of the cottage. A stone fireplace crackles merrily on the south wall, casting a yellow-gold glow throughout the room. All the furniture here is made of heavy wood and is simple and functional. Scattered about the room are weapons, traps, bundles of animal skins and sacks of food. Obviously this is the cottage of a trained woodsman. You also see the crab-shaped Rasson disk and a heavy door.
Also here: Bellaja, Perigourd, Missoni, Sir Guarrin, Lady Nairena, Magister Raelee, Xorus, Lord Elidal, Tamma, Avalera, Hospitaller Yukito, Imperatrix Lylia, Kelfyr, Ifanna, Dame Evia, Tikba, Sir Bristenn, Meril, Stormyrain, Fionola, Earthdiver, Sir Cryheart, Dwi, Seaward Rasson, Seaward Gutstorm, Dendum, Lady Aronia, Sister Filanci who is sitting
Cryheart says, "Aha."
Nairena says, "The dark orcs now."
Elidal exclaims, "Aronia!"
Aronia hugs Elidal.
Bristenn briskly orders, "Azure Sun, on me."
Dwi yells, "Join Cryheart!"
Elidal hugs Aronia.
[General] Markx thinks, "There are a ton of trolls and sentinels in Lower Dragonsclaw."
Tikba says, "This one is hurt."
Aronia says, "Are the...."
Speaking to Dwi, Rasson asks, "Pukk?"
>l aronia
You see Lady Aronia the Disciple of the Green Sisters.
She appears to be a Human from Talador.
She is taller than average. She appears to be youthful. She has sparkling gold-haloed fern green eyes and sunkissed tan skin. She has waist-length, soft blonde hair that falls in spirals down her back. She has a rounded face, an upturned nose and well-defined cheekbones.
She is in good shape.
She is holding a chilled glass of water in her right hand. She is wearing a series of leaf-etched wyrwood beads strung around her neck, a hooded silver cloak layered in rich velvet, a high-waisted plum faille silk gown sleeved in sheer taupe, a brushed gold ring set with a leaf-shaped emerald, a square-shaped doeskin reticule, and a pair of matte argent slippers beaded in lilac glaes petals.
[General] The ghost of Urpy thinks, "Focus defences on the Landing."
Aronia glances at the crowd, and her eyes droop.
Kelfyr says, "The young woman looks to need some aid."
Aronia says, "None of you are from the wagon...."
Aronia asks, "Is it only Filanci and I?"
Tikba quietly says, "We have found no others yet."
Cryheart says, "Seems so."
Lylia says, "So far, that seems to be so, but there may yet be others."
[General] Ulfwine thinks, ""Engaged south of town."
[General] Nalver thinks, "I'm coming to cause havoc."
Elidal says, "There's dozens who perished. Other wagons were abandoned. I had thought perhaps more with you..."
Dendum says, "Get these to some safe place....this cottage is not that place."
Speaking heartily to Lylia, Dwi says, "See...ye spect to libe fer anudder century...dis why ye should let me lead."
Aronia shakes her head.
[Realm] Bristenn thinks, "Get them out of that cottage with a portal."
[Realm] Bristenn thinks, "Somewhere safe."
Guarrin says, "It seems they are approaching town. We should return someplace safer."
Aronia says, "Filanci and I escaped, found this cottage. Dendum found us thankfully."
Evia says, "Hurt hand."
Aronia nods at Dendum.
[Realm] Bristenn thinks, "We will hold this line."
Speaking to Dendum, Tikba says, "Thank you, friend."
Filanci weakly says, "I fell out of the wagon when we ran for the forest. It was a good thing you were there to help me, Lady Aronia."
Earthdiver says, "I will have a door open for town shortly."
[General] Mnar thinks, "Minor skirmishes outside the town. Nothing in danger of breaking through except a few bears."
Earthdiver says, "That door leads to town."
[General] Chandrellia asks, "Get who out of what cottage?"
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me fall alla time, it not to bad if ye liquidated."
[General] Kiyna thinks, "Careful with thoughts. Gnul is listening."
Tikba says, "Elidal and the sisters must pass first."
Cryheart asks, "Shall we head back?"
Earthdiver says, "It is a nice door."
Elidal nods.
You follow Cryheart as he steps through the starlit doorway. [portal]
[Town Square Central]
This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. You also see a starlit doorway, a fluffy white cat, the Valdorin disk, a pale-faced coppery barn owl that is flying around, the Elliathe disk, the Raychelle disk, the Huntly disk, an ice hound ear, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a hummingbird feather, a dagger, some wide stone benches with some stuff on it, an herbal remedy donation bin and a round silver-banded barrel.
[General] Nalver asks, "Gnul. Can I buy you a drink?"
Cryheart says, "Oops."
Rasson says, "The cottage couold have been safe before people started yelling cottage on the net."
[General] Dwi thinks, "Straigh to town."
Earthdiver says, "Well."
[General] The ghost of Urpy thinks, "Gnul can kiss my corpse."
Guarrin says, "Sweet kai man."
Rasson says, "The cottage couold have been safe before people started yelling cottage on the netgo por."
Elidal says, "You...."
Earthdiver says, "That won't work that way."
[General] Tikba patiently thinks, "Please send another portal."
Elidal says, "Left them."
Earthdiver says, "Let's go back."
Elliathe asks, "What just happened?"
Stormyrain says, "Bristenn is there."
Stormyrain says, "I have let him know."
Cryheart asks, "Another doorway?"
Earthdiver says, "I will send to Bristenn."
Markx says, "O look someone markx'ed everyone."
Earthdiver says, "Oof."
Earthdiver says, "That is not where I wanted the cat to go."
Earthdiver says, "That looks dangerous."
Stormyrain asks, "Outside the cottage?"
Elliathe asks, "Did ye all find them?"
Mugz says, "Well wel."
Cryheart asks, "Well?"
Kelfyr says, "Minor issue regarding transporting them back."
Elidal asks, "Is someone returning to her?"
Dwi heartily says, "Sum things stil work."
Tikba says, "We have come."
[Realm] Guarrin thinks, "Mires! Get out of there."
Aronia says, "We are here Lord Elidal."
Aronia smiles at Elidal.
Cryheart says, "Sir Guarrin got them."
Filanci weakly asks, "Oh, we made it alive? We made it?"
Earthdiver says, "Was helping Bristenn out when I saw the mess."
Speaking reassuringly to Filanci, Missoni says, "You made it."
Speaking to Elidal, Evia says, "You must seek safe shelter for the ladies."
[General] Gnul thinks, "Did the little green bird run off safe? What a shame..."
Kelfyr says, "You may wish to take the party indoors, perhaps in Thrak's Inn or similar."
Earthdiver says, "Glad we got everyone in."
Elidal nods.
Speaking to Aronia, Nairena asks, "Are you well enough to make it to a safer location, m'lady?"
Filanci says, "What a relief. I was sure we were going to die."
Kelfyr says, "This area is a known target for artillery."
Azclepi says, "More like from the ladies."
Aronia says, "I am."
Dwi yells, "Join Pukk!"
Aronia joins Elidal's group.
Evia says, "Please get them to safety."
Elliathe says, "I am so glad the Lady has been found,"
Speaking to Filanci, Missoni says, "I am sorry for what happened to you. It must have been terrifying."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Take care of Aronia, we need to defend our town."
Aronia peers quizzically at Filanci.
Aronia asks, "Sister, will you come? Or is your destination within town?"
Aronia peers quizzically at Filanci.
Tikba says, "You would be safer in the Thrak."
(OOC) Cryheart's player whispers to the group, "Sorry folks, but cataracts interfere with my vision."
Aronia peers quizzically at Filanci.
Dendum exclaims, "You brought them...to the city?!"
(OOC) Evia's player whispers to the group, "I feel you there brother."
[Realm] Bristenn asks, "Targets secured, yes?"
(OOC) Kelfyr's player whispers to the group, "No worries, happens to the best of us."
[Realm] Guarrin thinks, "Aye."
(OOC) Cryheart's player whispers to the group, "Thanks."
Urpy melodically says, "Tried to bar the gates on my own."
[General] Dwi thinks, "Dat's a helpful hint."
[Realm] Guarrin thinks, "Engaged at the north gate."
Aronia taps Filanci lightly on her shoulder.
Urpy melodically says, "It didn't work out well."
[General] Kelfyr asks, "Are you missing your own feathered friends, Gnul?"
Tikba says, "As you are a priestess, in the Thrak you may also be able to help the fallen with us."
[General] Ulfwine thinks, ""The road outside the outpost is packed."
[Realm] Drazaa thinks, "West Gate has been mostly clear for some time."
Urpy melodically says, "North gate needs help."
Filanci joins Elidal's group.
Elidal says, "Let us get you to safety."
[General] Mugz asks, "And where should i be headed?"
Elidal nods at Aronia.
Elidal nods at Filanci.
Lylia stresses, "Take care."
Elidal says, "Thank you...everyone."
[Realm] Guarrin thinks, "Clearing to the outpost."
Elidal says, "I am even more in your debt."
Missoni murmurs, "Be well."
Lord Elidal's group just went northwest.
Lobbed Bodies
[Realm] Perigourd thinks, "Almost there already."
[General] Irval thinks, "I dispatched as many forces as I could in Trollfang."
Missoni says, "I will see where I can be of help."
Speaking to Earthdiver, Nalver says, "Go meteor swarm in Lower Dragonsclaw with me."
Nalver says, "It's fun."
Lylia says, "We shall see if Gnul is a sore loser."
Nalver exclaims, "I'm serious!"
Azclepi says, "Have fun go get em."
Earthdiver says, "Have to work on something for a moment."
[Realm] Vaemyr thinks, "Pushing back some of them in upper trollfang to head off reinforcements."
Earthdiver says, "Before I will be able to leave."
Nalver says, "Ohh."
Nalver says, "It was."
Nalver chuckles.
[General] Gnul thinks, "I just couldn't bring myself to cook all of your little wagon people. So I kept some of them for myself."
Elliathe exclaims, "I really hate that stone creep!"
[General] Nalver thinks, "A ransom. I mean. No spreading rumors."
[General] Irval thinks, "Gnul , Ive a grifflet Ill trade you for them..."
[General] Gnul asks, "You want them back?"
Urpy melodically says, "Soon."
[General] Nalver thinks, "I'm going to pack em on a boat and send them to Ta'Vaalor."
Avalera says, "I have a bad feeling."
[General] Gutstorm drunkenly thinks, "Jush da wimunz."
[General] Mnar thinks, "The Lower Dragonsclaw is a bit exciting."
[General] Irval thinks, "You want griffins? Then you'll deal."
[General] Perigourd thinks, "Obviously we would like any of the settlers returned unharmed."
[General] Nalver thinks, "Or maybe Teras. It'd take them about 2 years to figure out something was happening."
Elliathe asks, "What in the world is Irval on about?"
[General] Urpy thinks, "Scuttlebutt says the invoker is enroute to the small park."
[General] Gnul thinks, "Hmm...."
Speaking to Kiyna, Tikba says, "I hope you will not mind."
Speaking to Tikba, the ghostly voice of Kiyna says, "I always prefer this to the alternative."
[General] Nalver asks, "Gnul. Why are the kobolds richer than your stone creatures?"
[General] Nairena thinks, "Hi Gnul."
[General] Gnul thinks, "I am a reasonable King..."
[General] Kayse steadily thinks, "You and I have a different definition of reasonable."
[General] Urpy thinks, "Gnul if you're going to kill a queen, make sure she stays dead. At LEAST give me that satisfaction."
[at this point my character finds someone on the front lines again, so combat resumes; it was a relatively small group, so I could edit around it, but because it was a relatively small group, I'll still trim to just ESP and monsterbold here so no one is favored]
[Realm] Urpy thinks, "Dark orc north gates."
[General] Nalver exclaims, "Hear me out. I'll give you 2m silvers and we'll put all these imperials on a boat and send them to the nations or Teras, your choice. Also, we'll take that Sablo guy, cut out his tongue, and tar and feather him with griffon feathers!"
[General] Nalver thinks, "That sounds like so much more fun than whatever this is."
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
[General] Nalver thinks, "Ohh. And you take Candor."
Suddenly, netted spheres come soariing into view up over the Trollfang and arcing above the walls of Wehnimer's Landing! Within the weighted nets are a handful of humans, half-elves, and elves, of all ages, twisted and broken, their legs and arms bent unnaturally with several feathers nailed into their flesh. Some of them still squirm and cry out, but not for long, as they land along the cobblestone roads, the netting breaking apart as the bodies scatter and splatter in death.
[General] Gnul thinks, "Catch...."
[General] Bellaja thinks, "Nooooo."
[General] Jiarine thinks, "You missed."
[General] Kayse angrily exclaims, "That is not reasonable! How dare you!"
[General] Nalver thinks, "That was cute."
[General] Chandrellia asks, "Well, sometimes you gotta break a few eggs to make an omlette right?"
[General] Gnul asks, "Want the rest of them?"
[General] Perigourd thinks, "We want them alive and unharmed."
[General] Gnul thinks, "Maybe little lady pirate wants some..."
[General] Huntly thinks, "Well on the up side, we have plenty of food in storage now we will not have to use."
[General] Nalver thinks, "You gotta let them rot a little bit to make the town sick. Or light em on fire."
[General] Meril thinks, "These bodies are not yet so far gone that they are beyond a priest's help. We should gather them quickly, if we can."
[General] Dendum thinks, "Not sure they are bodies anymore..."
[General] Meril thinks, "I have seen far worse."
[General] Dendum thinks, "Well yes have also hunted Grimswarm...."
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Another netted sphere of intertwined bodies comes soaring into view, rising into the night sky and turning over and over before slamming into the walls and ramparts of the Hendoran outpost within the grasslands! The bodies smack and break loudly, bones and skulls shattering as they slide down the walls, leaving streaks of blood in their wake. Several soldiers alog the outpost's ramparts rush down to the bodies.
[General] Gnul thinks, "I don't want to leave anyone out."
[General] Gnul thinks, "Still a few little wagon people left...."
[General] Kayse angrily asks, "What do you want?"
[General] Huntly asks, "The next meat delivery could you toss in a couple of crates of spices and maybe a few kegs of ale?"
[General] Gnul thinks, "Hahahahahaha. Nothing you can give, only that which we will take."
[General] Irval thinks, "Gnul do you have any idea what Im going to do to you...You know whats worse than a pissed of Warpath? A Pissed off Warpath with a target..."
[General] Mugz thinks, "Come out and let me kill you like you deserve coward."
[General] Kayse measuredly thinks, "TRY ME."
[General] Gnul thinks, "Oh, little baron king boy and his monster man shouldn't be left out either..."
[General] Elliathe thinks, "You left out the pissed off warpath doing triage."
[Realm] Urpy thinks, "Trolls and orcs in the walls. Be careful."
[General] Mugz thinks, "Coward the other night and coward now, why don't you come give me a visit at the gate Gnul."
[General] Chandrellia thinks, "Can someone bring me some popcorn to TSC this is getting interesting."
[General] Huntly thinks, "Popcorn? plenty of meat now for a bbq."
[General] Kayse frustratedly asks, "Our citizens just splattered on the cobblestone streets of our home and you want popcorn?"
[General] Yukito murmurs, "He will die. No worries on that. Even if we have to drag him down from that mountain."
[General] Huntly thinks, "And some ale too."
[General] Chandrellia thinks, "Eh I'm not into eating rotten meat."
[General] Missoni thinks, "Goodness knows he is too much a coward to climb down himself."
[General] Huntly thinks, "Waste not want not."
[General] Directed to Elliathe, Irval thinks, "You are right, but sometimes in triage we have to make the hard choice to save those that we can. Gnul, you are beyond redemption and as a medical professional sometimes...you shall be excised."
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
[General] Mugz thinks, "Waiting for you to grow some courage Gnul, Assuming you won't after what i did to your forces last time..."
A smaller netted sphere of bodies comes flying into view, rising above the treetops of the Upper Trollfang and soaring towards the Dragonsclaw! As fate would have it, the netting frays in mid-flight and a shower of twisted bodies, all mutilated with feathers nailed into their torsos, showers down upon the imperial campsite and dozens of settlers run screaming as the corpses fall down around them with sickening thuds.
[General] Nairena thinks, "We will take great pleasure in dismembering and slowly killing you and your forces, Gnul. Know that."
[General] Mugz thinks, "We saw first hand he couldn't handle us few the other night."
[General] Gnul thinks, "Who would have known, putting wings on your wagon people could make them fly too. No eggs needed."
[General] Huntly exclaims, "They did not fly, they soared!"
[General] Mugz thinks, "Come on and land down here at the noth gate i'm waiting for you coward."
[General] Irval thinks, "Hey Gnul, I wish you could see me tossing this dead baby grifflet in the air and watching it splat over and over again."
[General] Lylia thinks, "All great rocks are eventually ground to sand, and it shall be a pleasure to tread on what is left of you and shake you from my sandals. Impotent Gnul, flinging the bodies of those who were incapable of defending themselves at our walls."
[General] Nazca asks, "Did anyone else notice these invading critters are attacking each other?"
[General] Cyred thinks, "The way you guys think, I don't feel like we're the 'good guys' here."
A final horn sounds from Stone Valley and the remaining monsters at large begin to turn and march back from whence they came.
