Avidleigh (Veed) na-Aorthana is a half-elf spiritualist and hunter raised in the Sea of Fire.

Early History

She was born in a small half-elven commune called Aorthana on the coast near Ubl in the Turamzzyrian Empire, the younger of fraternal twins, and was given the name Avidleigh. An accident in her youth led to her twin's presumed death, and she, being of dubious mental stability to begin with, quickly spiraled into madness as a result of the associated trauma.

She left the commune at a young age and was eventually found, raving and near death, in the Sea of Fire by the Hunted Feather Tribe of the Tehir. Her pale appearance and sorry state moved the tribe's shaman to take her in, and she regained her health in their care. They shortened her given name to Veed and she went by this among them.

She was adopted into the tribe and trained in martial and healing arts. During this time, she was bound to the tribe's guardian, a vulture spirit referred to as the 'Eater of Hearts' that she describes as an aspect or servant of Mularos. However, after decades as the tribe's Spirit-Speaker, tribal politics caused her to be cast out, despite carrying the spiritual safety of the tribe on her shoulders.

After being forced from her tribe, she fell in with a band of raiders, brigands and thieves led by a war-leader who styled himself the 'Dragon of the Desert'. She served as the band's chief heal-woman for thirty years before their leader's death. At that time, she left the Sea of Fire and traveled north.

Recent History

Going under her birth name 'Avidleigh', she worked as a freelance healer and hunter in the environs of Wehnimer's Landing and Solhaven. She was reunited with her twin brother Avidlen, who suffered from amnesia in the wake of the accident that had separated them years ago.

She served as the Company Chirurgeon of the Free Holders Mercenary Company until she was marked by Eryael Ladrinyth and relinquished her position. She was a supporter of the Dark Alliance. Alongside the Nalfein elf Uniana, she jointly housed Eryael's soul after his mind was invaded by Ulstram Chanerser and the Resistance near the end of the Second Griffin Sword War.

In accordance with the traditions of her tribe, she took two sworn blood-companions (bodyguards), Divid Reyene and Aasterinian Amalathia Illistim, both of whom wore tokens of her favor in their ears.

After the destruction of the Griffin Sword and the banishment of the four priests of the Dark Alliance, Avidleigh found she had lost her focus and strayed too far from her inner balance. When her brother went missing again, she lost herself in a fog of quiet madness that would last ten years.

When the fog cleared, she traveled back to the Sea of Fire to consult her spirit-mate for guidance. The Eater of Hearts was not pleased with how she had supported Eryael, and it chastised her thoroughly. The spirit stripped her of her healing power and scoured away the marks the High Priest of Mularos had left on her, blackening her eyes in the process. She was left terribly weakened and told to forge a new path to strength, and only then would she regain its favor.

She generally prefers to go by 'Veed', the name her estranged tribe gave her. She has begun to regain her spirit-mate's approval and her inner balance, and she can most often be found in the vicinity of Solhaven.
