Summary

 • Magister Cordarius comes with some news--the first being that Grand Magister Octaven has arrived and settled in the Hendoran outpost, where we might see additional increases of their golems in coming days.
 • Next he asks Magister Raelee to speak on the Hall of Mages' findings and theories about the bleakstone statue. She says it's currently a large, decorative object, but was a catalyst component in the origin of the blight; once all else was in place it allowed the blight to begin and grow, but isn't required to sustain it.
 • Leafiara asks if it could be reused as a component and she says it's possible. Mayor Lylia confirms with Raelee that removing the statue would not affect the blight. Bbee confirms with Raelee that it's the bleakstone aspect of the statue, so Leafi inquires about smaller bleakstones having the same properties; Raelee says yes, but a small shard won't generate a blight on its own. Captain Shinann asks about what the "all else" in place to trigger it entails; Raelee says she suspects an entire process of spellcraft. Cruxophim draws a comparison to the properties of blood marble, namely transmutation of energy and acting as a catalyst.
 • Next Cordarius explains his current theory that the blight has taken on a life of itself--it's fed, channeled, pushed, pulled. Leafi asks if that means it would continue living even if Raznel were killed; he replies that it's possible. Cordarius raises the possibility of creating a dome of antimagic over town to starve it, having noticed that in Raznel's earlier attacks she often deployed antimagic, but did it less often as the blight progressed. His theory, then, is that doing it later would suffocate the blight. He admits Octaven's not a fan of the idea.
 • Chamorr brings up the danger to the town if they did it, and Cordarius acknowledges that both the blight and starving it with antimagic both leave the town vulnerable. Leafi asks if they could shut off the dome only when needed for battle; Cordarius says we haven't seen mass antimagic deployed successfully since Hochstib (referring to the Mandis Crystals) and it would be no easy or quick task to flip it on and off.
 • Crux proposes finding a way to prevent the blight from being nourished or force it to evolve to produce a different result, like trees producing breathable air; Cordarius can only shrug and say he's not saying no. He asks everyone to spend the next few days considering the idea or alternatives.
 • Shinann raises the idea of starving it section by section. Cordarius says they could create barriers, but eventually they'd need to expand it to cover the town or else risk pushing it elsewhere; Zolis suggests pushing it eastward, but Cordarius says the Hall won't help do that. Shinann asks if they've experimented with starving a section; Cordarius says no, but they've seen results in starving the symptonms in animals and humans.
 • A militia messenger arrives with a note for Shinann, who reports that Disean's forces are approaching town and should arrive the next night.
 • Before Cordarius leaves for the night, he says it's a shame he missed Ysharra and to let her know he'd like to meet with her. Raelee notes that Thadston will be demanding the coffin and Cordarius affirms they'll get it to him. Wolfloner asks if Cordarius or Raelee will lead an opposing force against Disean; they say no and Raelee says it's not her responsibility; Wolf says Disean's an Imperial, so it is their responsibility. Raelee says to ask Breshon instead.
 • A nearby voice shouts that they've spotted the mayor and an angry crowd of townspeople arrive, bearing weapons. One says Lylia's no fan of children, but they never suspected her taking them in the night. Shinann says we won't have violence against the mayor, but a man claims she's been exposed and someone shouts asking if she eats them. One throws a rock at Lylia while another says they should have known from her slogan of "elect a witch to catch a witch."
 • Amidst all this, Leafi, Pukk, Wolfloner, Razanetika, and Xorus make note of Raznel's ability to change her appearance, but the crowd's having none of it as they say they have seven reported children missing and claim that five witnesses saw the mayor. Lylia says to bring forth the witnesses or cease their lies.
 • Shinann says Lylia would never be seen doing this and asks why they didn't report it last night when it happened; one of the men says they didn't tell her because she's a mayor-lover who doesn't serve the people anymore, but serves her title and badge, and says they can't trust her when she has her memories of Raznel's mother Reannah.
 • Lylia tries to take a calmer approach than before and says she won't meet their grief with anger; likewise Shinann says no matter what they say about her (Shinann), she won't let anger and confusion blind her to looking for their children. The man pounces at them speaking similarly and asks if they practiced their responses. Lylia says to look in Shantytown for the home of the farmer Jonathan Wilshire, who had tried to attack her, and ask his family about how she returned his body and left them money to sustain the family. However, the man only says Lylia has a good act and says they'll turn the town over to find the children and take justice.

Highlights

Raelee says, "Ultimately you have a choice. Any solution, anti-magic or not, is going to take some time. However, inventing something new is going to take far longer - time in which the blight will continue to kill. Thus, you can balance your need for magic against the time you do not have."
Speaking calmly to Raelee, Cruxophim concedes, "A fair point, of course, but one has to measure if the cure is worse than the disease. Easily no, but we can't be sure just yet."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Raelee says, "Ultimately the option is the town's. It is not mine to make."
Speaking to Cruxophim, Raelee says, "Even a lack of decision is beneficial to some. You all die, presumably I go home."
Speaking to Cordarius, Wolfloner asks, "Will you be leading an opposing force against Disean?"
Cordarius says, "I don't really lead forces."
Speaking to Raelee, Wolfloner asks, "Perhaps you then?"
Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee says, "That is not my responsibility."
Cordarius asks, "Will you?"
Cordarius peers quizzically at Wolfloner.
Cordarius asks, "Are you a Wolfleader or Wolfloner?"
Speaking to Raelee, Wolfloner says, "Disean is an imperial. By definition your responsibility."
Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee says, "Lord Breshon's then. Ask him, not us."
Cordarius says, "Your logic is flawed, but cute."
Speaking to Cordarius, Wolfloner says, "I am not a paladin."
Raelee says, "The Hall is here to aid with curing the blight, not to fight battles."
Speaking to Raelee, Leafiara teases, "You say that, but you're out there fighting with us all the time anyway."
Leafiara jests, "And alongside us, for that matter."
A small crowd of angry townspeople pour into view, many of them glaring at Lylia, while some tighten grips on their weapons, and two women in the crowd weep.
Speaking to Lylia, Wolfloner asks, "Did you raise taxes?"
Zosopage says, "They could have said something earlier and perhaps the Rooks could have done something."
Speaking amusedly to Zosopage, Leafiara says, "And I didn't even have to be the one to bring it up this time."
Speaking darkly to Lylia, Wolfloner says, "Ban Raelee from the town till she complies."
Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "Please do."
Lylia says, "I have no intention of banning her from somewhere she hates to be anyway."
Speaking darkly to Lylia, Wolfloner says, "Put her in jail then till she complies."
Lylia smiles wryly and says, "Not so easy, Magister."
Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "Shackle her to Pukk til she complies."
Leafiara slowly says, "...wouldn't take long."

Log

Awaiting Cordarius

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see some stone benches with some stuff on it and an herbal remedy donation bin.

Also here: Master Eledryn, Orthis, Mozek, Draden, Ascheraden, Event Planner Leafiara, Lord Chamorr, Humielie, the body of Bhast who is lying down, Hektur who is lying down, Shinann, Zalinix who is sitting, Gozmo, Harfgaar who is kneeling, Aargren who is sitting, Helsfeld

Glistening flakes of snow descend from the sky.

Pukk just arrived.

Pukk glances around the area.

Pukk quietly asks, "Where is he?"

Pukk flails his arms about.

Speaking curiously to Pukk, Leafiara asks, "Who?"

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk exclaims, "Cryheart!"

Sweetsin says, "Just going to leave this here, before all the excitment starts."

Sweetsin puts a piece of ivory parchment on some stone benches.

Speaking understandingly to Pukk, Leafiara says, "Ahhh."

Pukk quietly exclaims, "It's snowing!"

Pukk quietly exclaims, "The sky is falling!"

Sweetsin says, "Just a note."

Speaking amusedly to Pukk, Leafiara says, "I don't think it's all -that- bad."

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk exclaims, "It's snow, which is just hard water!"

Pukk quietly exclaims, "Water is bad!"

Speaking to Pukk, Eledryn says, "It's more like very soft fluffy water."

Pukk recites quietly:

"Everybody join Leafiara!"

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk exclaims, "You're the Cryheart for tonight!"

Speaking optimistically to Pukk, Leafiara exclaims, "Maybe we'll go shopping!"

Siggurd recites:

"Everyone pinch Pukk."

Pukk pinches Siggurd!

Speaking to Eledryn, Bbee says, "Papa always told me it was frozen bird pee."

Kobane recites quietly:

"Everyone give Pukk one coin!"

Speaking to Pukk, Siggurd exclaims, "That hurt!"

Shinann says, "No."

Speaking to Pukk, Ensayn comments, "It has been explained to me that water and soap are both good for you. Especially together."

Speaking softly to Kobane, Razanetika says, "I don carry coins on me."

Bbee says, "Well that is what papa said."

Pukk: "The sky is falling! There is white death coming down from the sky!"

Pukk recites quietly:

"Everybody join Leafiara!"

Speaking hopefully to Pukk, Leafiara asks, "Do you think the shops are opening up?"

Bbee exclaims, "I do love hugs!"

Pukk: "I have nominated Leafiara to be the honorary Cryheart for tonight!"

Speaking to Bbee, Helsfeld says, "I'll take one."

Bbee asks, "Take one what?"

Helsfeld says, "A hug."

Speaking musingly to Pukk, Leafiara wonders, "Hmm, what would Cryheart do?"

Bbee hugs Helsfeld.

Speaking to Bbee, Helsfeld says, "Thanks."

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Take a long time to walk to Moot Hall."

Speaking to Pukk, Leafiara agrees, "Good point!"

Speaking sagely to Pukk, Leafiara says, "Let's take a scenic route and get lost."

Speaking to Kobane, Helsfeld says, "Have you seen mom."

Pukk recites quietly:

"Everybody smooch Razanetika!"

Speaking softly to Pukk, Razanetika asks, "Yes?"

The voice of Razanetika softly says, "Hells to the no."

Speaking quietly to Helsfeld, Kobane asks, "Erm, who is mom?"

Cordarius: "Evening all!"

Leafiara: "Good eve again!"

Cruxophim: "Evenin'!"

Speaking to Kobane, Helsfeld says, "The person who named us."

Lylia: "And a fine one it is, too."

Zosopage: "Evening!"

Speaking quietly to Helsfeld, Kobane asks, "I do believe you have me mistaken for another?"

[Town Square, East]

Here in the center of a broad plaza near the commercial area of the bazaar stands the impressive facade of the slate-roofed Moot Hall, where the citizens of Wehnimer's Landing hold various official, religious and social functions. Facing the square are some of the town's more prosperous shops, still doing business with the many customers who still frequent the streets at night. You also see the Zolis disk, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, a polished bleakstone statue and a large purple wooden barrel.

Also here: Rasson, Lord Lycurgus, Bernadette, Great Lord Kobane, Pukk, Zosopage, Master Eledryn, Felita, Bbee, Ensayn, Lord Chamorr, Event Planner Leafiara Shinann, Lord Zolis, Mayor Lylia, Cruxophim

Chamorr heartily says, "Where we goin."

Bbee says, "Somewhere good I hope."

Speaking to Chamorr, Leafiara reasons, "Well, I'm trying to do what Cryheart would do and come over here."

Speaking to Bbee, Lylia says, "Anywhere you are is a better place to be."

Speaking quietly to Lylia, Pukk says, "Leafi is the Cryheart for tonight."

Speaking heartily to Leafiara, Chamorr says, "He would do what you do, but slower."

The coppery barn owl hoots at Pukk.

The coppery barn owl hoots at Pukk.

Speaking lightly to Chamorr, Leafiara says, "You said it, not me."

Pukk nods to the coppery barn owl.

Speaking quietly to a pale-faced coppery barn owl, Pukk says, "I'm sorry, next time we can all join you."

Speaking hopefully to Pukk, Leafiara says, "Maybe Cordarius will raffle off an elemental ring like Dennet did once."

Pukk quietly says, "Oh that would be nice."

Pukk quietly says, "I never get the good raffles."

Speaking to Pukk, Leafiara mutters, "Kinda wish he'd raffled off all of them before he died, come to think of it."

Bbee says, "It's the pill, they keep me jovial."

Pukk quietly says, "I guess I could pull a Hlendril and complain about it though."

Chamorr glances at a polished bleakstone statue.

Speaking quietly to Chamorr, Pukk says, "I get confused too."

Chamorr heartily says, "If we all lean on da statue, maybe we kin move it."

Speaking quietly to Chamorr, Pukk exclaims, "You're a genuis!"

Chamorr leans on Lylia.

Bbee says, "It's quite amazing how many Ladies are on the pill because of me."

Cruxophim whispers something to Lylia.

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "Oops."

Lylia mildly says, "I have been working on getting it moved, but..."

Shinann says, "We do not know the proper way to dispose of it. Moving it or destroying it could cause problems."

Speaking dubiously to Bbee, Cruxophim ventures, "You... drug them?"

Speaking quietly to Lylia, Pukk asks, "You are going to move it to your house, aren't you?"

Lylia says, "I am the one who is not on a decorative plinth."

Bbee says, "Of course."

Chamorr heartily says, "It got here, take it back the same way."

The coppery barn owl pecks at a polished bleakstone statue.

Speaking to Pukk, Lylia says, "The town is my 'house.'."

Speaking amusedly to a pale-faced coppery barn owl, Leafiara asks, "Are you trying to eat it?"

Pukk quietly says, "I knew it."

Shinann says, "It should go back to the Bleaklands."

Lylia adds, "And I do not think we want it in front of Brigatta."

Speaking quietly to Leafiarar, Pukk says, "It's too late. She took over."

Octaven at the Outpost

Magister Cordarius just arrived.

Cordarius says, "You could have waited...the streets are dangerous."

Cordarius nods at Raelee.

Cordarius smirks.

Cordarius removes the hood of his robe, revealing his features.

Speaking pointedly to Cordarius, Raelee says, "I did wait."

Cordarius says, "Hello everyone."

Chamorr heartily asks, "Waited?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Lylia says, "Good evening to you."

Speaking to Leafiara, Bbee says, "Sorry, just popped into my head."

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee adds, "You took too long. It is just a window."

Speaking suddenly to Cordarius, Cruxophim inquires, "Are you going to flirt with me?"

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk exclaims, "About time!"

Cordarius peers quizzically at Cruxophim.

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "Evenin imperial."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk exclaims, "It's snowing...that is a bad sign!"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Lylia says, "Only if you are quite fortunate."

Speaking to Pukk, Eledryn says, "It is late fall. Snow is not unusual."

Cordarius says, "I'm not even sure what you are."

Cordarius begins chuckling at Cruxophim!

Speaking dubiously to Cordarius, Cruxophim warns, "I heard you might flirt with me."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk says, "Next thing you know, Leafiara will be Cryheart for the night..."

Speaking fondly to Cordarius, Leafiara agrees, "That's the best thing about him."

Ensayn musingly asks, "Will anything be flying out Lylia's office window today?"

Speaking dubiously to Ensayn, Leafiara asks, "That hasn't happened in, what, six months?" (nine and a half months, actually!)

Bbee asks, "If we all run around like madmen catching snow flakes on our tongues, we may be able to avoid shoveling?"

Cordarius says, "I think we have entirely different appetites."

Cordarius grins at Cruxophim.

Ensayn thoughtfully says, "Seemed like we couldn't keep that thing replaced for awhile."

Cruxophim flashes a quick grin.

Speaking to Bbee, Eledryn asks, "Weren't you just saying you thought snow was frozen bird pee earlier?"

Cordarius says, "Well, this crowd will do."

Bbee says, "No, I said papa said that."

Speaking curiously to Eledryn, Pukk asks, "Really?"

Speaking affably to Cordarius, Cruxophim ventures, "Got an announcement?"

Leafiara optimistically asks, "Gonna help us celebrate Frontier Days?"

Bbee says, "Mama said it was angel dust."

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "Buncha undisciplined hooligans."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Raelee says, "No."

Cordarius says, "No."

Leafiara looks thoughtfully at Cordarius.

Speaking quietly to Eledryn, Pukk says, "I don't think so."

Speaking coolly to Chamorr, Cruxophim agrees, "The undisciplinedenest."

Cordarius says, "I've heard the plague and witch has kept much of previous years festivities away this time."

Speaking amicably to Cordarius, Leafiara says, "I guess that's just as well. The last Magister to help us celebrate didn't really have our best interests at heart."

Cordarius says, "A shame really."

Leafiara nods slowly at Cordarius.

Speaking heartily to Cruxophim, Chamorr says, "You are sooo scary."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk says, "Yes, also that scary statue too."

Cordarius says, "But, that's why we're here."

Lylia says, "A particular shame, yes. I had hoped...well."

Speaking affably to Cordarius, Cruxophim informs, "The Order still raised a few coins."

Raelee says, "... indeed. We are here to work, not to celebrate."

Bbee asks, "Anyone want a pill?"

Speaking quietly to Lylia, Pukk says, "I mean....such a lovely and domineering statue..."

Cordarius says, "Octaven has arrived. She's settling in the Outpost. So, if you see in the coming days some additional increases of our golems.."

Cordarius says, "Well, do not be alarmed."

Cordarius says, "So, check. There's that."

Speaking amusedly to Cruxophim, Leafiara says, "Well, she's only late delivering your request by about two years..."

Speaking bemusedly to Lylia, Cruxophim reminds, "We were promised golems." (Leafi and Crux are referring to this

Cruxophim laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement from Leafiara.

Leafiara nods in agreement at Cruxophim.

Cruxophim nods in agreement at Leafiara.

Leafiara flashes a quick grin.

Findings on the Bleakstone Statue

Cordarius says, "Secondly...I sort of wanted to cover a theory we're having. Throw out an idea...."

Cordarius says, "But first..."

Cordarius says, "Magister Raelee."

Cordarius says, "Did you want to..."

Cordarius points at a polished bleakstone statue.

Chamorr heartily says, "Question."

Cordarius asks, "You know?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee asks, "Explain what we know about the statue?"

Speaking amusedly to Cordarius, Cruxophim offers, "Take it home? Sure."

Cordarius says, "Yes."

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "Why does ya need more golems to find a cure."

Speaking quietly to Raelee, Pukk says, "It's big...it's sca....really life like....."

Cordarius says, "The golems are to protect the Hall's interests and defend against the witch."

(Raelee lightly taps her fingers against the bleakstone statue.)

Speaking suddenly to Lylia, Cruxophim wonders, "I wonder if we could animate that by the same means as the golems?"

Speaking softly to Cordarius, Razanetika asks, "So I cannot have one as a pet?"

Cordarius says, "Right."

Cordarius smirks at Razanetika.

Raelee says, "At this point, this statue is little more than a large, decorative object."

Razanetika gives Cordarius a lopsided grin.

Speaking softly to Cordarius, Razanetika says, "A girl can dream."

Razanetika nods knowingly at Cordarius.

Raelee says, "It was, however, a piece of the origin of the blight."

Bbee asks, "You wish to animate something made of bleakstone?"

Cordarius says, "A fine carving. How the creator captured such beauty in the first place is amazing."

Cordarius nods at Lylia.

Raelee stares sternly down her nose at Cordarius.

Lylia gazes in amusement at Cordarius.

Raelee says, "This blight is... magical, to oversimplify vastly."

Lylia offhandedly notes, "The ears are not quite right."

Speaking uncomfortably to Cruxophim, Pukk asks, "You mean golem Lylias walking about?"

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "He's gonna want territory, after that."

Raelee says, "And many spells have many components. This was one of them."

Speaking to Chamorr, Lylia says, "If wishes were horses..."

Speaking wryly to Pukk, Cruxophim jests, "Pity it's not urnon."

Cruxophim wryly mutters, "Too soon?"

Raelee says, "One might refer to it as a trigger component, or a catalyst component."

Raelee says, "Once all else was in place, this statue allowed the blight to begin and to grow."

Speaking flirtatiously to Raelee, Pukk says, "Come on, let us see one of those dazzling smiles of yours."

Bbee asks, "Which component is that?"

Raelee says, "But it is not required to sustain it."

Cordarius asks, "Which, is kind of good news, right?"

Speaking curiously to Raelee, Leafiara asks, "Can it be reused as a component again, or is it... inert after initial use?"

Speaking to Raelee, Bbee asks, "Which component is that?"

Leafiara grabs a pure white circlet with a leaf-framed polished bleakstone centerpiece from a small pocket inside of her red silk cape.

Leafiara gazes thoughtfully at her pure white circlet.

Cordarius says, "We weren't sitting here, immobilized with no options to remove the statue. The damage was done the moment it took root."

Cruxophim rummages inside one of the small pouches hanging from his black harness and procures a polished bleakstone.

Cruxophim gazes thoughtfully at his polished bleakstone.

Lylia clarifies, "In other words, removal of it would not affect the blight, to the best of your knowledge."

Speaking to Bbee, Raelee asks, "Which component are you inquiring about, precisely?"

With a gentle hand, Leafiara carefully removes the bleakstone from her pure white circlet.

Speaking to Leafiara, Raelee says, "And it is possible."

Leafiara nods understandingly at Raelee.

Cruxophim nods slowly at Lylia.

Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "Correct."

Speaking to Raelee, Bbee asks, "The catalyst one?"

Speaking to Bbee, Raelee says, "The statue."

Raelee glances at a polished bleakstone statue.

Speaking thoughtfully to Lylia, Cruxophim speculates, "Makes sense, as a catalyst. Removing the bitten hand does little good once the venom has already circulated."

Speaking to Raelee, Bbee asks, "So bleakstone?"

Cruxophim brushes his fingers lightly against his polished bleakstone.

Cruxophim gives a polished bleakstone a quick glance over and drops the bleakstone into one of the small pouches hanging from his black harness.

Raelee nods at Bbee.

Speaking tentatively to Raelee, Leafiara asks, "What of other smaller pieces of bleakstone? Do they all have the same properties?"

Leafiara gazes thoughtfully at her polished bleakstone.

Speaking quietly to Cruxophim, Pukk says, "But removing the stinger with the venom sac would help."

Shinann asks, "What was actually set in place for it to trigger? Items or what or am I misunderstanding?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Raelee says, "Yes, however, a small shard of bleakstone is not going to generate a blight on its own."

Speaking neutrally to Raelee, Leafiara says, "Interesting, thank you."

Raelee says, "There would be... an entire process of spellcraft, which I suspect was somewhat involved."

Leafiara gently places a bleakstone in her pure white circlet, taking care to arrange it just so.

Leafiara tucks a pure white circlet with a leaf-framed polished bleakstone centerpiece into a small pocket inside of her red silk cape.

Speaking quietly to Raelee, Pukk says, "Aren't there curse stones that can cause trouble just by themselves? This could be something akin to that. Just from another form of magic."

Raelee says, "And there is the matter of volume, of course."

Speaking thoughtfully to Raelee, Cruxophim speculates, "So not unlike the properties of blood marble?"

Bbee asks, "We could coat it with honey and seeds and use it to feed the winter birds?"

Speaking to Cruxophim, Raelee asks, "Which properties are you referring to, precisely?"

Starving the Blight

Cordarius says, "Now...the other idea."

Chamorr heartily says, "Wow."

Cordarius says, "We suspect the blight is..."

Cordarius rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Speaking thoughtfully to Raelee, Cruxophim counters, "Absorption. Transmutation of energy and as a catalyst."

Pukk quietly says, "I just figured a magic like that would have to have some sort of anchor."

Cordarius says, "Alive? In some ways. It's magical in nature, and has taken on a life of itself almost. It is fed, it is channeled, pushed, pulled, you name it."

Cordarius says, "Most importantly, it is fed."

Lylia says, "Ysharra suspected as much, too."

Speaking bluntly to Cordarius, Leafiara asks, "Does that mean the Hall believes the blight would continue... 'living,' as it were, even if Raznel were killed?"

Raelee quietly says, "... that depends on one's definition of 'alive', of course."

Speaking slowly to Cordarius, Cruxophim speculates, "So not unlike an organism. Yes, that has been suspected for some time."

Cordarius says, "It's possible, yes."

Cordarius nods to Leafiara.

Speaking amusedly to Lylia, Cruxophim remarks, "She would know."

Pukk quietly asks, "If it is alive maybe we could use another magic to poison it?"

Cordarius says, "So whatifwecreatedsomewayofcastingadomeofantimagicoverthetown....and slowly starved it."

Cordarius gazes in wonder at his surroundings.

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee reminds, "Enunciate."

Shinann asks, "A dome?"

Speaking drunkenly to Cordarius, Gutstorm says, "I didnt unnashtan a werd ye shed bub."

Leafiara affably says, "Sounds plausible."

Chamorr heartily says, "Why the town."

Cordarius says, "So we came to this theory for a few reasons."

Speaking dryly to Leafiara, Cruxophim mutters, "Not ideal, however."

Lylia flatly says, "Anti-magic. In the town itself."

Chamorr heartily says, "Forests bay."

Pukk quietly says, "That would be different."

Cordarius says, "We noticed that in the beginning, Raznel often deployed temporary phases of anti-magic in the area."

Cordarius says, "When we were under attack."

Cordarius says, "As the blight progressed, she did it less."

Speaking uncertainly to Cordarius, Cruxophim ventures, "What if... there were another way? A counter-transmutation, if you will?"

Raelee says, "Because the blight is here. We cannot starve it with anti-magic if the anti-magic field is far away from where the blight is flourishing."

Lylia says, "It is not enough to starve my -- I mean, to starve our bodies, but we must starve our minds as well, being severed from magic."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Leafiara guesses, "The bone pillar plan?" (referring to this)

Bbee asks, "We could all disrobe, hold hands and dance around it in wild abandon will singing disturbing love song and maybe it would chose to leave?"

Cordarius says, "Because, in theory only, doing it too much later on would harm the blight. Almost suffocate it. Starve it, even if temporary."

Speaking thoughtfully to Leafiara, Cruxophim remarks, "The framework is still in place."

Cordarius says, "...and she needed it to grow."

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "That would leave the town quite vulnerable to attack."

Speaking amusedly to Cruxophim, Leafiara agrees, "That's why I brought it up."

Cordarius nods at Chamorr.

Cordarius says, "It would."

Zosopage says, "No magic would would hinder many from being able to fight."

Pukk quietly says, "Suddently I'm in favor of anti-magic in town."

Cordarius says, "Which, to be honest, I have considered this theory is playing into Raznel's hands all along."

Cordarius says, "She knows the blight makes us vulnerable, and any idea to starve it with anti-magic also makes us vulnerable."

Lylia says, "Just so."

Chamorr heartily says, "Put a dome over the statue."

Cordarius says, "Won't work."

Speaking to Chamorr, Raelee says, "That will do nothing."

Speaking thoughtfully to Cordarius, Cruxophim suggests, "You suggest starving the organism by depriving it of the same sustenance that we, ourselves, utilize... what if we could find a way to prevent it from drawing nourishment instead? Or force it to evolve to produce a different result?"

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Kobane asks, "Could it be localized to just this area?"

Lylia says, "I refuse to believe, though, that this woman has so neatly tipped us all into a bag and left us no other choices."

Leafiara thoughtfully asks, "How easy or difficult would it be to shut off such a dome during war times only?"

Cruxophim whispers something to Zolis.

Cordarius shrugs at Leafiara.

Speaking deeply to Lylia, Zolis says, "Seems to be terribly convenient, almost."

Leafiara grins at Cordarius.

Chamorr heartily says, "We could all move to the northern caravansary."

Bbee asks, "Mama alwaays said Love is the strongest magic. We could make flower necklaces for it and make it feel welcome?"

Cordarius says, "We haven't seen mass anti-magic deployed successfully since Hochstib."

Zosopage says, "What if there were a sanct."

Speaking calmly to Cordarius, Cruxophim reasons, "Trees absorb expelled breath and produce breathable air, for example."

Cordarius says, "I can already tell you Octaven is no fan of our theory."

Raelee says, "Ultimately you have a choice. Any solution, anti-magic or not, is going to take some time. However, inventing something new is going to take far longer - time in which the blight will continue to kill. Thus, you can balance your need for magic against the time you do not have."

Pukk quietly asks, "What exactly does this rot curse use for "food"?"

Speaking deeply to Cordarius, Zolis says, "Seems it would open the town to attack from any source."

Cordarius shrugs at Cruxophim.

Cordarius says, "I'm not saying no."

Cordarius says, "Also, this is only a theory and an idea."

Speaking calmly to Raelee, Cruxophim concedes, "A fair point, of course, but one has to measure if the cure is worse than the disease. Easily no, but we can't be sure just yet."

Cordarius says, "We promised cooperation and transparency, so I'm sharing this idea."

Cruxophim nods understandingly at Cordarius.

Speaking to Pukk, Bbee asks, "Anxiety, disgust and suffering?"

Cordarius says, "Because you know, the Hall doesn't have all the right answers all of the time."

Speaking quietly to Cruxophim, Pukk says, "I think your idea sounds good, maybe we could find out where it gets its food from and poison it...so to speak."

Cordarius says, "Only most of the time."

Cordarius chuckles to himself.

Speaking calmly to Cordarius, Cruxophim notes, "The transparency is appreciated, both from you and the Magister."

Speaking wryly to Pukk, Cruxophim jests, "Could feed it donuts."

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "Before you start doming in the city, better have the town's permission."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Raelee says, "Ultimately the option is the town's. It is not mine to make."

Cordarius says, "Creating any type of anti-magic barrier over the town would be no small task. Or quick task. So no, I do not think it could easily be flipped on and off..."

Cordarius nods to Leafiara.

Lylia says, "I do appreciate the idea of creating a kind of backlash. Poisoning its source instead of starving it. I am simply not certain that we know enough, or that we have enough time."

Speaking to Cruxophim, Raelee says, "Even a lack of decision is beneficial to some. You all die, presumably I go home."

Cordarius says, "Down boy."

Cordarius nods at Chamorr.

Cordarius says, "I'm not doming anything."

Speaking seriously to Lylia, Cruxophim offers, "I'll offer what I can, I shall get to work immediately."

Speaking to Cordarius, Leafiara admits, "A shame. Between that and my previous thought that killing the witch would end the blight too, it seems any simple answers are off the table."

Cordarius says, "We don't know for sure killing Raznel will not stop the blight."

Speaking amusedly to Raelee, Cruxophim states, "Touche."

Cordarius shrugs at Leafiara.

Cordarius says, "It's possible that it does."

Chamorr heartily says, "You dont knw fer sure about da dome eitjer."

Zosopage says, "Thats assuming that they can't defeat the dome and only hurt us and not them."

Cordarius says, "But if I were Raznel..."

Cordarius says, "Which I'm not..."

Leafiara acknowledges, "Yes, I realize that, but... if it's possible that it doesn't, we stilll have to plan against it."

Cordarius says, "But if I were Raznel..."

Bbee exclaims, "Lets bury it in tarts!"

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "Alternatively, if set the town alight... killing me will not quash the flames."

Cordarius says, "I'd create a curse that lasted beyond my death."

Lylia coldly says, "Killing her may not end the blight, but it does end her, and I wish to see that just as surely."

Pukk quietly says, "I say, we dome the town in anti-magic, move that statue to Solhaven, kill Raznel and check the banks to make sure they weren't affected too."

Pukk quietly says, "I will take care of the banks."

Cordarius says, "So, there you have it."

Bbee exclaims, "Lets throw it in Lake Eonak!"

Cordarius says, "Let's spend the next few days toying with the idea, or alternatives."

Speaking to Cordarius, Leafiara muses, "With almost anyone else I'd agree, but she's worked so hard on immortality that I wonder if she even thinks her death possible... but yes, best to plan for worst case scenarios."

Chamorr heartily asks, "Have what?"

Speaking evenly to Pukk, Raelee says, "If you wish Vornavis to take custody of the statue, I expect that it could be arranged."

Lylia explains, "It would not work. The damage has been done. Breaking a dagger after it has cut you does not heal the wound."

Speaking to Pukk, Raelee says, "It is no longer active, but it is still valuable... afterall."

Speaking wryly to Lylia, Cruxophim muses, "It's a good thing I've been studying Raznel's methods for years. And I'm not alone in that."

Speaking quietly to Lylia, Pukk says, "Removing a dagger from the wound would help the wound heal though."

Lylia says, "If the statue goes anywhere, it goes to New Ta'Faendryl."

Cordarius says, "If only we knew people who helped train Raznel..."

Cordarius rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Cordarius rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Cordarius smirks.

Speaking to Pukk, Zosopage says, "Or you bleed out faster."

Shinann asks, "Instead of a big dome, could we not starve it section by section?"

Chamorr heartily says, "We do."

Cordarius winks at Chamorr.

Speaking quietly to Zosopage, Pukk says, "Leaving a dagger doesn't mean you will heal around the dagger."

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "We do."

Lylia says, "In hundreds of years, she doubtless learned from many."

Speaking quietly to Shinann, Pukk says, "I was thinking the same thing earlier."

Lylia says, "I have not had one person teaching me for centuries, after all."

Cordarius asks, "Maybe?"

Cordarius peers quizzically at Shinann.

Bbee asks, "Can we hook it to a ballista and hurl it somewhere?"

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "Little purple fuzzbal pschotic."

Shinann ponders.

Cordarius says, "We could create barriers around the town, so it does not spread, but we would need to expand it within eventually, covering the town."

Cordarius says, "Otherwise we risk pushing it elsewhere. Not starving it."

Speaking to Pukk, Zosopage says, "Better to do it simultaneously if possible."

Zolis deeply says, "Push it eastward."

Zolis starts chortling.

Lylia whispers something to Zolis.

Bbee asks, "Maybe it would like it in a nice empty lonely desert?"

Kobane quietly says, "Just hook it to an airship and send it to Ta'Vaalor."

Cordarius says, "...and...no surprise, the Hall is not about to help push the blight somewhere else."

Pukk quietly says, "Poison it, starve it, remove statue, cast dome, move statue to someplace else just in case, kill Raznel."

Cruxophim begins chuckling at Cordarius!

Shinann asks, "Have you experimented starving any section of the blight yet?"

Speaking to Shinann, Leafiara acknowledges, "Good thought. A smaller, localized test first."

Speaking to Cordarius, Zosopage says, "I'd expect none would want this problem shoved onto another town."

Cordarius says, "No, but we've seen some faint results in starving the symptons in animals, and...humans."

Razanetika whistles tunelessly to herself.

Speaking quietly to Zosopage, Pukk says, "Sol said they wouldn't mind it."

Cordarius smirks at Razanetika. [I can only assume a whispered exchange]

Speaking to Shinann, Raelee says, "Imagine what might occur if we erected even a small area of anti-magic without asking permission first."

Wolfloner quietly asks, "Why not take the statue to the Bleaklands. And then close the portal to that region?"

Razanetika wiggles her ears at Cordarius.

Shinann says, "It is outside the town also."

Speaking to Shinann, Raelee says, "The typical accusations of Imperial conspiracy and how dare we and what not..."

Bbee asks, "Let's put it in the catacombs to starve that rats?"

Razanetika glances at Cordarius and pouts.

Shinann says, "Those patches of grass."

Chamorr heartily says, "How bout the outpost, dome the outpost."

Speaking quietly to Bbee, Kobane asks, "Then how would the people fresh off the farms learn how to hunt?"

Speaking calmly to Wolfloner, Cruxophim repeats, "Wouldn't matter now. And besides, we'd be depriving ourselves of a valuable research tool. Once doesn't learn to cure diseases by ignoring them, one learns by dissecting them."

Shinann says, "Just a thought."

Bbee says, "Um."

Bbee says, "I hadn't thought of that."

Speaking quietly to Raelee, Pukk asks, "What if the magic users of the town were to do this all together and raise the dome themselves...that way the Imps....I mean..the Hall would not be accused of anything?"

Bbee says, "Was just an idea."

Disean En Route

A militiaman messenger arrives and hands a note to Shinann.

Speaking pointedly to Pukk, Raelee says, "You accuse us of ill-intent on a near daily basis."

Cordarius asks, "A suitor?"

Cordarius peers quizzically at Shinann.

Speaking to Shinann, Wolfloner asks, "Someone die?"

Speaking quietly to Raelee, Pukk says, "I'm lovable and endearing that way...but I only accuse you and...Lylia...and Berkana....Oh I see your point."

Speaking curiously to Lylia, Cruxophim apologizes, "If you'll pardon, Mayor... I've some work to see to. Related, perhaps. I'll keep you appraised."

Lylia says, "Of course."

Shinann recites:

"I just received a message that Disean's forces are approching town."

Bbee says, "I am still for smearing it with honey and covering it with seeds for the birds to eat."

Cordarius asks, "Tonight?"

Cordarius furrows his brow.

Shinann says, "Tomorrow night."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk says, "Oh good, you can help us kill them quickly."

Cordarius slowly empties his lungs.

Shinann says, "Most likely."

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "Good thing we ain't got a dome."

Shinann says, "From the rate they are moving."

Speaking to Shinann, Zosopage says, "Ahh ok was just about to ask how far out."

Cordarius says, "Well, thank goodness for scouts."

Leafiara surprisedly says, "It's more warning than usual, at least."

Shinann agrees with Cordarius.

Cordarius says, "Well, you know. There you have it. There's much work to be done."

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr asks, "Ya comin?"

Cordarius says, "A shame I missed Ysharra tonight."

Speaking to Cordarius, Wolfloner asks, "Will you be leading an opposing force against Disean?"

Lylia says, "I shall convey your best wishes to her."

Cordarius says, "Let her know please I'd like to meet with her."

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "Thadston will be demanding the coffin, then."

Cordarius nods at Raelee.

Cordarius says, "We'll get it to him as promised."

Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee says, "And he will not."

Cordarius says, "I don't really lead forces."

Pukk quietly exclaims, "Invasion of roltons!"

Cordarius nods at Wolfloner.

Speaking to Wolfloner, Shinann says, "We will defend the town."

Speaking to Raelee, Wolfloner asks, "Perhaps you then?"

Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee says, "That is not my responsibility."

Wolfloner glances at Cordarius.

Cordarius asks, "Will you?"

Cordarius peers quizzically at Wolfloner.

Speaking to Cordarius, Shinann says, "Our town always fights back."

Cordarius asks, "Are you a Wolfleader or Wolfloner?"

Shinann says, "Always."

Cordarius snickers to himself.

Speaking to Raelee, Wolfloner says, "Disean is an imperial. By definition your responsibility."

Wolfloner glances at Cordarius.

Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee says, "Lord Breshon's then. Ask him, not us."

Gutstorm yells, "Gimme!"

Great Lord Gutstorm begins to walk west but suddenly trips and goes flailing out of sight!

Speaking to Cordarius, Wolfloner says, "Greetings."

Chamorr heartily says, "Always da same."

Cordarius says, "Your logic is flawed, but cute."

Cordarius nods at Wolfloner.

Leafiara acknowledges, "I kinda liked it myself."

Speaking to Cordarius, Wolfloner says, "I am not a paladin."

Chamorr heartily says, "Lotsa talk, then its tea time."

Cordarius says, "I should be off."

Cordarius waves.

Raelee says, "The Hall is here to aid with curing the blight, not to fight battles."

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "Go find a dome."

Cordarius waves.

Raelee says, "Lord Breshon may be willing to lend some of his men, should you request it. That may be taken to him."

Speaking to Cordarius, Wolfloner says, "Lead on noble Magister."

Speaking to Raelee, Leafiara teases, "You say that, but you're out there fighting with us all the time anyway."

Magister Cordarius just went north.

Bbee asks, "Does no one think my honey and seed idea is a good idea?"

Leafiara jests, "And alongside us, for that matter."

Missing Children and Mayoral, Militial Mayhem

A voice from a nearby street shouts, "There she is! There's the Mayor!"

Raelee says, "At times."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Rut roh."

Gutstorm points at his mayor pinata.

Chamorr points at Lylia.

Gutstorm yells, "Its only a pinata!"

Chamorr heartily says, "There she is."

Wolfloner says, "Perhaps someone intends to kidnap the Mayor."

Leafiara suddenly says, "Wait a minute." [not an elaborated-upon thought, but at this point Leafi figured Raznel was posing as Lylia and

Speaking quietly to Lylia, Pukk exclaims, "If you stand still, they will not be able to tell the difference between you and the statue!"

Chamorr heartily says, "Stone her."

Shinann says, "Unless they saw someone else."

A small crowd of angry townspeople pour into view, many of them glaring at Lylia, while some tighten grips on their weapons, and two women in the crowd weep.

Leafiara dubiously says, "Hopefully not the witch doing her impersona--"

Shinann says, "Oh."

Razanetika softly says, "Hmm."

Eledryn says, "Oh my."

Leafiara heavily says, "Yeah, I'm going with the witch doing her impersonations again."

Meureii continues, "It is no secret to the power with which Koar posses."

Zosopage says, "Quick, dress Pukk like Lylia."

Chamorr heartily says, "Is Disean comin tonight."

Speaking to Lylia, Wolfloner asks, "Did you raise taxes?"

A man steps forward from the crowd, a blade in hand.

Speaking to Chamorr, Leafiara says, "Tomorrow."

Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "We lynching the lynchers?"

Speaking quietly to Zosopage, Pukk says, "Wait."

Speaking quietly to Zosopage, Pukk asks, "You think I could look that good too?"

Shinann recites:

"We will not have violence against our mayor."

The man says, "It's no secret you're no fan of children Mayor. We never suspected you taking them in the night."

Lylia glares.

Speaking to a crowd of angry townspeople, Leafiara explains, "So, uh... I'm thinking that Raznel's been doing some deceptions--"

Leafiara uncertainly says, "Err."

Razanetika softly asks, "Children missing?"

Speaking to Pukk, Zosopage says, "You'd be the anti-Lylia Lylia."

Gutstorm drunkenly exclaims, "If ye want Lylia, ye gotta go through Pukk!"

Shinann asks, "What?"

The man says, "Violence? Oh, she's the source of it. She's been seen. She's finally been exposed!"

Pukk quietly asks, "Wait..what?"

Lylia says, "You would not be the first to try it. You will not be the last."

Razanetika softly asks, "She's been seen doing what exactly?"

Someone else in the crowd shouts, "Do you eat them Mayor? Like the last Mayor!?"

Speaking to a crowd of angry townspeople, Meureii says, "Deception is simple."

Speaking in Faendryl, Zolis deeply says something you don't understand.

Greenish-black flames spring to life in Lylia's hand...

Shinann asks, "Are you seeing someone that looks like the mayor is taking children?"

Bbee asks, "Eat what?"

Chamorr heartily says, "That's a maybe."

Speaking to a crowd of angry townspeople, Leafiara inquires, "Have you all actually seen something, or heard rumors, or...?"

Lylia smiles faintly, her expression visible in the fitful light of the balefire in her hand.

One of the weeping women from the crowd lunges forward, mustering a second of courage and throws a rock at Lylia! It misses, by a lot. She screams at the sky, "HE WAS MY ONLY CHILD YOU WITCH!"

Pukk yells, "No, she has explained she would rather rule over them than eat them....her palate is more tender!"

Ensayn warningly says, "Settle down folks. You've been misled."

Lylia asks, "And which child is this?"

Razanetika softly says, "Oh my."

The man says, "Elect a witch to catch a witch...we should have known....she told us as much..."

Speaking quietly in Faendryl to Zolis, Kobane says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Lylia, Wolfloner asks, "So many you can not keep count?"

Pukk quietly says, "Wait.."

Razanetika softly asks, "She who?"

Pukk quietly asks, "Who told you?"

Felita says, "Missie Mayor dont kill kids."

Xorus asks, "What are you people even talking about?"

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "Do ya like em roasted wif taters."

The woman in the crowd says, "You took him! I saw you! Your face! Your eyes, you did not care at all. You took him and he's gone!"

The man says, "...and he's not the only one."

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "Mmmmm I do."

Pukk quietly says, "Illusions are common place."

Shinann asks, "How long has this been happening?"

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Lylia, Zolis asks something you don't understand.

Pukk quietly says, "People can look like other people."

Lylia asks, "Who are these who were 'taken?' Do you have names? Do you have anything at all to support your words?"

Bbee exclaims, "Leave Lylia be!"

Speaking heartily to a crowd of angry townspeople, Chamorr says, "It's not her."

Wolfloner darkly says, "Sounds more like Raznel's work."

Pukk quietly says, "Looking like Lylia doesn't prove a thing."

Razanetika softly says, "Alright, the witch impersonating the mayor is kidnapping children in the dead of night."

Eledryn says, "In fact, I have a trinket that could make Pukk almost look like me."

Lylia commands, "Bring me proof or cease your lies!"

Pukk's body, including any visible musculature, relaxes significantly. His skin then ripples violently, its appearance shifting, and sharp cracking sounds come from beneath his skin as his body transforms to alter his height and body.

The transformation seems to come to its conclusion as the cracking sounds fade away and Pukk's visible skin firms up around her muscles and facial features. It isn't entirely clear if this is an illusion framing her or her true form.

Wolfloner says, "You have the wrong witch."

Pukk quietly says, "Like this."

Zosopage says, "Illusions easily fool weak minded folk."

Pukk quietly says, "See."

The man says, "Last eve. We've seven reported children missing. Five witnesses saw the Mayor. But they were frozen in fear. Damn black magic."

Speaking to Pukk, Eledryn says, "Oh hello there."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Pukk yells, "Magic is making you all look like fools!"

Lylia haughtily says, "Witnesses. Bring them forth."

Razanetika softly says, "Perhaps putting up magic barriers may be helpful afte all."

Pukk quietly asks, "Why am I yelling?"

Chamorr heartily says, "Dang."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Yes, bring forth the witnesses so we can kill dem, I mean question dems."

Wolfloner says, "And be quick about it. Disean approaches."

Speaking to Pukk, Eledryn asks, "Not quite used to the effects of the transformation?"

Lylia repeats, "Bring them forth, and let them accuse me, if they wish."

Speaking to Pukk, Zosopage says, "You like the sound of your own voice."

Xorus says, "It is well known that the witch Raznel takes on the appearance of others."

The weeping woman riles up enough courage to step forward again. "I saw you! You took Ethan out of his bed! You froze me in fear! Your grin so wicked! So heartless! You are not a mayor! You are a monster!"

Shinann says, "I assure you if it were our mayor she would never be seen. That puts holes in this theory. Think about it. I am very sorry about your children. Why did you not come report it to us last night."

Speaking to Xorus, Leafiara agrees, "That's what I said from the start, yeah."

Speaking quietly to Zosopage, Pukk asks, "Really? I tend to not speak my mind in a true fashion about something and only joke, but now you are saying I like the sound of my voice?"

Chamorr heartily says, "The last time we had wards on the town, they snatched chillen to make portals."

Lylia hisses, "Lies and calumnies. Illusions. You do not know."

Shinann recites:

"She would never do this."

Lylia lets out a long, contemplative breath.

Pukk quietly says, "But that begs the point...I am standing up for Lylia..."

Lylia closes her eyes for a moment.

The man says, "That is exactly why we did not tell you Captain."

Pukk quietly says, "I think I am feeling ill."

Speaking mildly to Shinann, Leafiara says, "Well, let's not get too crazy now."

Speaking to Pukk, Eledryn says, "Strange times call for strange allies."

Shinann asks, "Why, because I am being logical?"

Speaking heartily to a crowd of angry townspeople, Chamorr says, "She dinna do it."

The man says, "You're suckling from the mayor-loving teet. You don't serve us anymore. You serve your cushy title and badge."

Pukk nods at Eledryn.

Pukk quietly says, "Right."

(Lylia lets her brow go smooth and unclenches her jaw. When she opens her eyes, her expression and her voice have softened.)

Zosopage says, "There is no way she would do that knowingly or willingly."

The man says, "But what do you expect, from Reannah right?"

Shinann says, "That is not true..."

The man says, "Raznel's mommy?"

Bbee exclaims, "This isn't true, I know cause, well, um um, she gave me a license to peddle my pills!"

Shinann says, "Umm."

The man says, "Yeah we trust you...not at all."

Shinann says, "Fine."

Speaking in Faendryl, Kobane quietly asks something you don't understand.

Shinann says, "I am still sorry about your children and I will try to find them."

Shinann says, "No matter what you say about me."

Lylia says, "You have clearly been dealing with one who wears other faces, and you believe your eyes instead of your hearts."

Eledryn whispers something to Pukk.

Speaking warningly to Lylia, Pukk exclaims, "Don't ask them to believe their hearts!"

Lylia says, "I shall not meet grief with anger."

Speaking to a crowd of angry townspeople, Wolfloner says, "Better to go home before the horde arrives."

Shinann says, "I will not let anger and confusion blind me to looking for them."

The man says, "Oh look, they're even talking the same."

The man says, "Lylia and Reannah."

Shinann asks, "Did you see which way they went?"

The man says, "Won't let anger....yada yada."

Speaking to a crowd of angry townspeople, Lylia says, "Go to Shantytown. Look for the home of the farmer, Jonathan Wilshire."

The man says, "Did you both practice your responses?"

Speaking heartily to a crowd of angry townspeople, Chamorr says, "Any ideas where they is taken, what did ya all see."

Lylia continues, "Ask his wife and child what became of him."

Pukk quietly asks, "Yeah...why are you sounding like Reannah?"

Shinann says, "That is not going to work with me. I am trying to get information to look for them."

Lylia says, "Zolis? Xorus? You were with me that night. When I was attacked, the man with the crossbow."

The man says, "Shame it didn't stick."

Zolis deeply says, "Bloody fool got what he deserved."

Lylia says, "Thrassus was there as well. You saw."

Xorus says, "Yes. That crossbow fellow."

Speaking to Lylia, Bbee says, "We believe in you."

Shinann asks, "Did anyone see which direction they were taken?"

Speaking to a crowd of angry townspeople, Lylia says, "Find his family. Find those who saw me return his body, with honor. Find his child, to whom I left enough to sustain the family."

Lylia says, "They know a different story. And if you hear two stories, you must ask yourselves, 'Who gains from the lies?'"

The man says, "You've been warned Mayor. Your act is good. Not surprising of a Faendryl. But you've been warned. We've got witnesses. They know what they've seen. Your own slogan should have warned us. We'll turn over every stone in this town and board in Moot Hall to find these children. Maybe even your Alabaster tower. We'll prove it and we'll take justice."

(Lylia paces back and forth before the crowd, meeting the gaze of a few faces within it.)

Gutstorm drunkenly exclaims, "Hey, dats me girl!"

Gutstorm stands in front of a polished bleakstone statue.

The man returns to the crowd and they slowly begin to move away, many of them glaring and offering rude gestures to the mayor and others before they disperse.

Discussion Afterward

Lylia says, "I have heard many such threats."

Speaking in Faendryl, Zolis deeply says something you don't understand.

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia coolly says something you don't understand.

Shinann says, "Those poor children..."

Leafiara indifferently offers, "Probablly idle threats in any case."

Shinann says, "And their parents."

Zosopage asks, "This took place a few days ago?"

Lylia says, "Oh, I doubt it."

Pukk quietly says, "Well, they do know their rude gestures...those were some doozies."

Speaking in Faendryl, Xorus says something you don't understand.

Lylia says, "It is not the first time someone has threatened my life. It shall not be the last."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Its not like they cant have more kidsh."

Speaking to Lylia, Leafiara clarifies, "Threats they're not able to make good on even if earnest, then--I'll put it that way."

Lylia says, "I could protect this town for the next century, but the moment I falter or that someone wishes to spread lies, they believe them readily enough."

Lylia says, "Because I am Faendryl, and because I am Lylia."

Speaking to Razanetika, Bbee says, "Well thumped."

Chamorr heartily says, "Well, yeah."

Lylia says, "We shall find the truth of it."

Zosopage asks, "If this took place a few days ago then why are we hearing about it now and not when it happened?"

Zosopage says, "That doesn't make sense."

Speaking to Zosopage, Lylia says, "A good question."

Shinann says, "He said last night."

Wolfloner says, "Larsya Caulfield's attemped assassin was first attributed to impostors before the true assailant Vinswith was discovered."

Shinann says, "I asked."

Zosopage says, "Even so. If they said something last night we may have been able to do something."

Wolfloner says, "Things are not always as first appears."

Speaking to Wolfloner, Leafiara says, "Yes, even you were questioned... I remember."

Razanetika softly says, "He indeed said "Last eve..."

Speaking to Zosopage, Shinann says, "He said they do not trust me or the Mayor."

Chamorr heartily asks, "Where do ya start to look?"

Shinann says, "And that is why we were not told."

Speaking to Shinann, Zosopage says, "There are many in town that could have helped."

Leafiara offers, "I guess they could go talk to Khylon." [captain of the town guard, which is a separate organization from the militia]

Bbee says, "The mom said last eve."

Bbee says, "From her son's bed."

Speaking to Shinann, Wolfloner asks, "How close was Disean?"

Speaking to Shinann, Lylia says, "Find out more about the missing children and the circumstances of their disappearance."

Shinann says, "Only said he should be in range by tomorrow night."

Shinann nods at Wolfloner.

Zosopage says, "It just doesn't make sense to me that they didn't come out yelling their children were being taken at the time they were being taken."

Speaking to Leafiara, Shinann says, "I am thinking they do not trust authority."

Speaking softly to Zosopage, Razanetika says, "They were frozen in fear."

Leafiara muses, "So let's see, the list of problems... Disean tomorrow, a question of whether an anti-magic field is viable or desirable, missing children, angry townspeople, Brumas on the loose, our next paragon known, and of course Raznel off somewhere."

Chamorr heartily says, "Can't imagine why."

Speaking neutrally to Shinann, Leafiara agrees, "Mmm."

Bbee says, "I still think if we cover the statue with honey and seeds it would seem less imposing."

Pukk quietly says, "This is curious though, this crowd starts when you all were discussing ways to take care of this blight."

Speaking to Shinann, Leafiara relents, "Fair enough."

Shinann says, "I honestly do not know where to start looking."

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Kobane says, "That's quite a list."

Pukk quietly says, "Then a group of unknowns marching to town..."

Speaking to Razanetika, Zosopage says, "I doubt it lasted all night that."

Pukk quietly says, "Too much of a coincidence."

Zosopage says, "Doesn't make sense."

Speaking heartily to Leafiara, Chamorr says, "At least the distiller is still workin."

Leafiara adds, "Oh, right, and the possible mystery paragon as well. Lots to contemplate."

Speaking softly to Zosopage, Razanetika says, "Fear does crazy things to people..."

Speaking to Lylia, Wolfloner says, "You left out the imperials."

Lylia pointedly says, "Shantytown, with the shrieking woman who said she was so scared she could do no more to help her child than stand there frozen in fear with piss running down her leg."

Lylia hisses, "Would you like me to draw up a list?"

Wolfloner says, "Spies everywhere."

Zosopage says, "So they couldn't move or speak."

Zolis deeply says, "This could be a perfect opportunity for Imperials to put a dome over the town, then attack it."

Speaking to Lylia, Shinann says, "She was losing her child."

Xorus says, "Shame about the children. Raznel will surely want to do something horrible with them."

Razanetika whispers something to Zosopage.

Wolfloner says, "That has been her practice."

Speaking deeply to Xorus, Zolis asks, "Remember the memory with those 'children' in it?"

Chamorr heartily says, "Any reason to search fer them."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia murmurs something you don't understand.

Shinann says, "I am sure that is who has them, but what good to tell them that? They were not going to believe it."

Pukk quietly says, "Maybe they are being schooled in the art of statue making to earn a living and this is all some big misunderstanding."

Zosopage says, "They could have said something earlier and perhaps the Rooks could have done something."

Pukk quietly says, "Yes, that sounds about right."

Speaking amusedly to Zosopage, Leafiara says, "And I didn't even have to be the one to bring it up this time."

Shinann says, "I am unsure where to look for them. I am pretty sure they are not in town any longer."

Chamorr heartily says, "Tunnels."

Shinann says, "I did not want to say that with them here."

Speaking to Shinann, Leafiara suggests, "Pup and Aatu, maybe. Get a scent?"

Bbee asks, "How do we know they are missing, perhaps they are just hiding?"

Shinann says, "All this snow might make that hard."

Lylia says, "These people say they witnessed them being taken."

Shinann says, "We can try."

Speaking slowly to Shinann, Leafiara concedes, "Ah... right."

Lylia dryly remarks, "By the mayor. The wicked Faendryl witch."

Bbee says, "They also said they were scared stiff,"

Shinann says, "I tried to see if they saw where they were taken, but they would not answer."

Lylia says, "No one stops to consider that I bloody loathe children and would not want to take any of them anywhere."

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "Yes an no."

Lylia says, "And now I am stuck finding them."

Speaking to Xorus, Raelee says, "... one wonders if there is any potential value of the blood of youths when making paragons."

Speaking quietly to Shinann, Pukk says, "Somebody was stirring them up at this time to distract everybody from working on the blight problem."

Xorus says, "They may be paragon materials. Or they may be nothing more than leverage, the witch making it hurt when the town comes for her."

Bbee says, "Hard to bbe bboth observative and frightened bbeyond measure."

Pukk quietly says, "Maybe that man in the group."

Pukk quietly says, "He was Raznel's man."

Speaking to Pukk, Shinann says, "I think they were not lying."

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "Because you didnt do the one, does not preclude the other."

Pukk quietly says, "Oh yeah, they believe it, but he was stirring it."

Shinann says, "They just do not know what they saw..."

Pukk quietly says, "Making it worse."

Lylia says, "They are not lying consciously, but they were lied to, and they repeat these calumnies as though they were truths."

Wolfloner asks, "Raznel would need somewhere to perform her nefarious deeds. Anyone have an inkling of where that might be?"

Speaking flatly to Chamorr, Lylia says, "Perhaps, but the fact remains that I did not take anyone's children."

Xorus says, "The Bleaklands, most likely."

Lylia asks, "What in the dark valences would I do with them?"

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "I believe ya."

Speaking to Xorus, Wolfloner asks, "Should we go look?"

Bbee asks, "Is there a seer we could enlist to see the fate of the children?"

Xorus says, "I am always up for investigating the Bleaklands."

Wolfloner says, "I am willing."

Lylia says, "I could do an Igaeshian reading, but...well. It might be seen as rather self-serving."

Shinann says, "We have no direct access... I do not think."

Xorus says, "Besides. That cocoon with the real body of Brumas in it is somewhere out there."

Leafiara nods at Xorus.

Pukk quietly says, "The statue was a place for the blight to start but also it started another problem. It helped encourage the townspeople to have more distrust in you."

Leafiara agrees, "Right, we do have to go one way or another."

Speaking to Lylia, Bbee asks, "Yet it yield a clue?"

Pukk quietly says, "It demonized you more in everybody's eyes by making a statue of you in the town for people to look at while the blight was taking root."

Speaking gently to Pukk, Lylia explains, "My friend, there was always distrust. I am Faendryl. We take it in like the air we breathe."

Lylia says, "Statue or no statue, this would have been the case."

Pukk quietly says, "It pushed it more, it made the distrust spread faster...."

Lylia adds, "Remember that she took my blood."

Shinann nods at Lylia.

Chamorr heartily says, "Nuff yakkin bout, start figurin what to do about it."

Shinann says, "That was the first thing I thought of."

Xorus says, "It is unsurprising she would take your form. I have expected her to eventually since taking that scarab back."

Bbee asks, "You believe she made an impersonation potion with yor bblood?"

Lylia simply says, "Yes."

Speaking darkly to Raelee, Wolfloner asks, "The portal to the Bleaklands is no longer accessbile from the Hendoran Outpost?"

Pukk quietly asks, "Does that mean she might take the forms of other people who had the scarabs in them?"

Shinann says, "She does that a lot."

Bbee asks, "Oh?"

Speaking to Xorus, Lylia says, "I was not asking for permission."

Speaking to Pukk, Leafiara admits, "It's possible, but each scarab could also have had different purposes--like the ones that scattered into Lake Eonak."

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Lylia, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Bbee says, "She bbest not do that to me, she won't like bbeing lil and insignificant."

Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee says, "It is there."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Speaking surreptitiously to Shinann, Leafiara asks, "Do you have any idea what she did with your scarab, come to think of it?"

Pukk quietly exclaims, "Well, I'm good. I didn't have a scarab. There will be no other Pukk. People would not believe an impostor Pukk!"

Speaking darkly to Lylia, Wolfloner says, "I will take it that it no longer exists."

Meureii whispers something to Lylia.

Speaking deeply in Faendryl to Lylia, Zolis says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee says, "Alternatively, you can walk. The hike across the glacier to Icemule Trace is further than where Talador once stood."

Speaking wryly to Pukk, Leafiara says, "Actually, I wouldn't bet on that. Right now I have you pegged as a top twenty target--since Disean took your blood for the maggots."

Speaking darkly to Raelee, Wolfloner asks, "You cannot open a portal then?"

Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee says, "I absolutely can."

Speaking to Leafiara, Eledryn asks, "Wait, how do I know I'm talking to the real Pukk then?"

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk exclaims, "I forgot about that!"

Speaking dryly to Pukk, Leafiara says, "If it makes you feel any better, I have myself pegged in my top ten."

Speaking darkly to Raelee, Wolfloner says, "Then do so. Slim chance to save those children is better than none."

Speaking to Raelee, Lylia says, "Thank you for the earlier information about the statue. Regrettable that other matters distracted from it."

Speaking seriously to Pukk, Leafiara says, "But I've got my eye on you. Watch out for any sign of being turned into a paragon."

Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee asks, "And I thought I was suppoesd to be leading the charge against Disean. Which is it now?"

Speaking quietly to Eledryn, Pukk says, "It's easy. Just ask me something I wouldn't know. And when I can't answer it...you will know I'm Pukk."

Speaking darkly to Raelee, Wolfloner says, "Seems Disean will not be here till tomorrow."

Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "Of course. It remains a work in progress."

Speaking darkly to Raelee, Wolfloner says, "You have time to do both now."

Shinann recites:

"Militia, I will put something on the wall in the barracks about tomorrow night. Those poor children. I am going to go look for Thadston to make him aware, if he is not already."

Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee says, "If you want to travel to the Bleaklands tonight, I suggest you start walking. I do not take orders from you."

Bbee asks, "You know what I have never seen?"

Speaking to Bbee, Eledryn asks, "The top of a giantman's head?"

Shinann says, "Poor parents too... remember if you deal with them they are suffering."

Bbee says, "A bird sit on that statue."

Pukk quietly exclaims, "I order to not take anybody's orders!"

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia growls something you don't understand.

Speaking darkly to Lylia, Wolfloner says, "Ban Raelee from the town till she complies."

Shinann bows.

Shinann just went north.

Leafiara says, "Like you said earlier, I think 'authority' is taking the brunt of this--"

Leafiara glances north.

Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "Please do."

Lylia says, "I have no intention of banning her from somewhere she hates to be anyway."

Leafiara mumbles, "She always runs off so quick."

Speaking to Eledryn, Bbee says, "Giants lie down on occasion."

Speaking darkly to Lylia, Wolfloner says, "Put her in jail then till she complies."

Lylia smiles wryly and says, "Not so easy, Magister."

Speaking to Bbee, Eledryn says, "True. Or fall down."

Lylia says, "Compelling someone who can open portals to other places by putting her in prison seems...counterproductive."

Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "Shackle her to Pukk til she complies."

Speaking to Bbee, Eledryn says, "The top of a standing giant, then."

Leafiara slowly says, "...wouldn't take long."

Raelee adds, "Not to mention, it would likely have a severe impact on our progress against the blight."

Speaking to Raelee, Lylia says, "I hope that you will consider it in the future, though. The near future."

Speaking to Bbee, Eledryn says, "Then again, there's a treehouse..."

Speaking quietly to Chamorr, Pukk asks, "Shackle who?"

Bbee says, "I have bbeen known to climb trees."

Speaking heartily to Pukk, Chamorr says, "Raelee."

Lylia says, "The blight is a bigger concern, clearly. As regrettable as a few missing children are, a town filled with dead ones, and with women and men as well, is worse."

Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "If requested."

Xorus says, "It would be pointless without also banning the owl, and the townsfolk would become an unruly mob."

Speaking quietly to Chamorr, Pukk says, "I have often thought you didn't like me. Now I know."

Speaking darkly to Raelee, Wolfloner says, "Then you will share whatever befalls those children."

Speaking adamantly to Xorus, Leafiara agrees, "Every last one."

Lylia briskly says, "I have my own business to attend to."

Mayor Lylia's group just went south.

Speaking quietly to Chamorr, Pukk exclaims, "I renounce my affliation with Ord and Dragan!"

Speaking adoringly to a pale-faced coppery barn owl, Leafiara says, "Don't worry, you'll never be banished."

Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee says, "Unlikely. I am far more capable of defending myself against such."

Speaking darkly to Raelee, Wolfloner asks, "Are you sure?"

Pukk quietly says, "Wait."

Speaking heartily to Pukk, Chamorr says, "What."

Pukk quietly exclaims, "What about the group coming!"

Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee says, "Rather."

Speaking quietly to Zosopage, Pukk says, "You have to stay around till that group gets here and we can defend it."

Speaking darkly to Raelee, Wolfloner asks, "Shall we put that to a test?"

Zosopage says, "That's not until tomorrow."

Speaking to Wolfloner, Raelee asks, "Now why are you still here, attempting to order me about instead of hiking your way towards the Bleaklands if this is so absolutely urgent?"

Leafiara earnestly exclaims, "Well, another night to ponder... see you all tomorrow in defense of the town!"
