Barkskin allows the Ranger to surround themselves with a thick layer of bark, which will absorb the next instance of a physical attack, SMRv2 maneuver, bolt spell, or warding spell that would have otherwise successfully struck them.
On attacks that would have only moderately been successful, the bark has a 50 + (Spiritual Lore, Blessings ranks / 2) % chance of enduring. Moderate success is defined as a successful endroll threshold of no more than 20 + (Ranger’s Survival skill / 10).
Barkskin has a five minute character-specific cooldown after successfully absorbing an effect during which that character may not gain Barkskin again.
Usage
- PREP 605 | CAST or INCANT 605 to cast this spell
- PREP 605 | EVOKE to cast a group version of the spell for 15 mana, at 50 ranks of Spiritual Lore, Blessings
- INCANT 605 EVOKE to evoke this spell once using INCANT
- INCANT SET EVOKE 605 to always evoke this spell using INCANT 605
Lore Benefits
Training in Spiritual Lore, Blessings increases the chance of Barkskin enduring past the initial absorb at a rate of +1 per 2 ranks, for moderate attack successes only.
Additionally, at 15 Blessings lore ranks, the Ranger may COMMUNE with nature to cast the spell while incapacitated (but not while in roundtime) once per hour.
At 50 Blessings lore ranks, the Ranger may EVOKE the spell to affect the Ranger’s entire group for 15 mana.
