Communitea House

Communitea House is an eatery in South Haven, around Solhaven, that sells beverages and coffee and/or tea brewing supplies. The proprietor is Molleine, who is helped by her adopted daughter, Audreyn. It is located in the Old Market Plaza in the eastern part of South Haven. Both Molleine and Audreyn are refugees from Talador.

Beautiful rugs, worn thin in spots but still largely intact, and colorful tapestries soften the cold, exposed stone of the large entryway. A long hall extends north from a heavy wooden door with panes of leaded glass, its walls lined with painted landscapes, and leads to a wrought iron and glass arch at its end. A cordoned-off flight of stairs leads to the upper chambers of this once great home, and to the west a wide doorway draped with heavy velvet curtains opens into a modest sitting room. You also see Molleine Brauxn.

Cracks in the granite-tiled floor, some small and some not, have been mostly hidden by the careful arrangement of a tufted emerald velvet divan with several missing buttons and matching wide, scallop back chairs with scuffed, dark walnut end tables in between. Bookcases and curio cabinets backed with blackened mirrors line one wall, the faint scent of old books clinging to them still. Gold and bronze damask curtains, fraying a little at the edges, are partially drawn over a large window on the far side of the room from a pair of paneled sliding doors.

Dark finishes and plush fabrics lend to a cozy atmosphere despite their obvious age and wear. Directly across from a pair of paneled sliding doors, a large framed Talador map hangs in a place of honor above a small fireplace. On the west wall, a tall back overstuffed armchair with cracked chocolate leather and large desk face a small sofa and floor-to-ceiling bookcases across the room.

Large panes of thick, cloudy glass enclose this space on three sides and rise above to form a lantern roof. Within the fourth wall, a wrought iron and glass arch is set directly across from a stained glass door leading out to the garden. The lush foliage of highly cultivated trees in oversized weathered stone planters forms a thick canopy, their green leaves shading small groupings of white wicker chairs and tables arranged around a cast iron potbelly stove.

There are two different orange trees in this room inside the planters which can have harvested for oranges, flowers, and leaves. There is a public stove with a single burner for brewing tea, but it does not have a kettle.

Dark ivy climbs the walls surrounding this private garden, the broad and waxy leaves covering lifeless stone with lush green. Opposite a stained glass door, nestled against the verdant vines, a four-tiered white marble fountain with a cracked acanthus finial stands between a pair of oversized planters ravaged by time. In the center of it all, resting on slate paving stones with moss growing between their cracks, low stone benches surround a ring of blackened limestone set with a steel grate.

Water can be drawn from the fountain to brew tea in the orangery. The ring of limestone is a cooking firepit.
