Trolls are large, fearsome creatures whose blood has been known to possess regenerative properties. Different types of troll can be found in all regions of Elanthia, across a wide range of levels.
For the purposes of the Animate Dead spell, the level of the troll whose blood a sorcerer has used in the creation of crimson salt crystals is important for determining Maximum Animatable Level of that sorcerer with those crystals. Below is a list of the common troll species of Elanthia, their level, and their general location in the world.
Most, if not all, types of trolls take double damage when hit by fire based spells or weapon flares, and most have regenerative abilities (self-healing, similar to empath spells).
Alchemists can extract essence of regeneration from the skin of any troll; however, some trolls, notably Agresh troll chieftains, are not skinnable.

Trolls Hate Fire
Most trolls take double damage rounds from fire, either from spells or flaring weapons. Furthermore, as ball spells can blossom for a second impact on the same target, it is possible to get multiple hits. If all of these effects are combined together, the results can be absolutely devastating. Combining a fiery ball spell with a fire flaring runestaff is certainly one of the most effective ways to kill a troll, as shown below.
You utter a light chant and raise your hands, beckoning the lesser spirits to aid you with the Fire Spirit spell...
Your spell is ready.
You gesture at a greater bog troll.
