As part of the annual Elanthian Fashion Week scene, the The Looking Glass are pleased to announce Fashion! 5122. This year, we will be holding a series of seasonally themed events across Elanthia in collaboration with other CHEs and MHOs.

Spring

The Looking Glass are celebrating the arrival of spring with a day at the races! We are taking over the Veythorne Manor grounds for the day to let the roltons run amok with a little side-betting action, refreshments, and the chance to show off your finest race day outfits. Prizes will be given for all race entries and subsequent wins. An award will also be given for the most ostentatious hat seen during the day!

Race Rules

  • There will be a minimum of six roltons running in each race.
  • Each of the six roltons can be "sponsored" in a race for a nominal fee (exact amount to be determined).
  • Private pedigree rolton entries will be accepted on the day (yes, you can bring your own Racing toy).
  • The race course will run from the Veythorne Manor dock (starting post ~ lich #13402) to the entrance gate (finish line ~ lich #13366. (A total of 9 rooms in either direction)
  • The first rolton to reach the gate (finish line) will be declared the winner.
  • In the event of no rolton reaching the gate (finish line) before all movements cease, the race will be declared over with no outright winner.
  • All roltons must be attuned before the race. (HUG your rolton x2)
  • All roltons must be prepared before the race. (TURN your rolton x10 to fully wind it)
  • All roltons must be lined up at the start of the race. (DROP your rolton at the starting post)
  • False starts will be disqualified. (Do not NUDGE your rolton until you are told "GO!" Make sure you know which rolton is yours e.g. NUDGE THIRD ROLTON or NUDGE BLUE ROLTON)
  • Any tampering with your rolton or interference with other roltons during the race will result in disqualification.
  • Retrieve your rolton once the race has finished (GET rolton. You will not be able to pick up your rolton until its 10 movements have completed, hopefully at the finish line!)
  • All roltons must be returned to the Adjudicator where you will receive your prize (for entry and/or race win). Unless, of course, you are the proud owner of the rolton, in which case just come and collect your prize and praise!
  • The Adjudicator's decision in all matters is final. (No arguing with Rohese or she will cry.)

Betting Rules

  • Betting Odds will be clearly displayed before each race on the chalkboard outside the tent.
  • Minimum stake is 10,000 silvers.
  • Maximum stake is 1 million silvers.
  • Bets can only be placed on the race about to commence.
  • All bets are for first place only (no second or third place) and the rolton must have reached the finish line.
  • Betting will close before each race begins. No bets can be placed while the race is underway.
  • All wins must be claimed immediately after the race is over (within 10 minutes of the finish or before the next race begins, whichever is sooner) or will be forfeit.

Betting (explained in simple terms)
Betting Odds are used to determine the probability of a rolton winning a race. The fractional odds displayed will allow you to calculate how likely a given event is to happen based on previous form. For example, betting odds of 9/1 gives a 10% chance that the rolton will win. 4/1 gives a 20% chance and 1/1 gives a 50% chance.

Betting Odds then allow you to calculate how much silver you will win if you make a bet. Using the same examples as before, quite simply, for every silver you bet, you will win the value of that bet plus the return of your stake.

  • 9/1 for every 1 silver you bet, you will win 9 silvers plus the return of your 1 silver stake. So 10 silvers in total.
  • 4/1 for every 1 silver you bet, you will win 4 silvers plus the return of your 1 silver stake. So 5 silvers in total.
  • 1/1 for every 1 silver you bet, you will win 1 silver plus the return of your 1 silver stake. So 2 silvers in total.

A Rolton Race Day Rehearsal will be held on the afternoon of Niiman, 17th day of Charlatos (Thursday, March 17th) to determine the racing form of all six roltons and the subsequents odds for the opening race on the big day itself. The rehearsal will be an open event and everyone is welcome to come along and spectate.
