Arcane Blast is a unique attack spell designed specifically for pure professions and to ease their hunting and mana constraints early on in their careers. As such, Arcane Blast is unique among spells as it requires no mana to cast and it is known innately (without training Spell Research) to all pures. In trade for these advantages, unlike other spells, it will induce five (5) seconds of hard roundtime for the caster (which is ordinarily three (3) seconds of cast roundtime for most spells). Furthermore, it cannot be used with or gains no advantage by coupling with a host of other properties where its zero mana cost would be overly powerful. |

A new level 0 spell called Arcane Blast (1700) has been released. All Pures (Wizards, Clerics, Empaths, Sorcerers, and Savants) will have innate knowledge of this spell and can simply PREPARE 1700 or ARCANEBLAST (or INCANT) to cast it. It requires no mana to cast, but does subject the caster to 5 seconds of roundtime. If cast from stance defensive or guarded, it cast a warding attack at the target. If cast from a higher stance, it will cast a bolt attack at the target. Holy Receptacle (325), Magic Item Creation (420), Haste (506), Rapid Fire (515), Charge Item (517), and Scroll Infusion (714) do not work with this spell. |

It is our hope that this new ability will allow our players to play their characters as a caster from the start instead of relying on physical weapons due to mana constraints. We've updated the sprite quest to inform new characters of this new ability. |

Spell Usage
Arcane Blast uses mechanics similar to Hand of Tonis (505), where the type of attack depends on the caster's stance. If the spell is cast from either defensive or guarded stance, a warding attack spell will be cast. If it is cast from any lower stance (usually offensive for the most effect), instead a bolt spell is cast.
The warding version is functionally identical to Force Orb (1201) in terms of the type and amount of damage done, whereas the bolt version uses a damage factor identical to Minor Shock (901) except it causes impact damage.

Warding DF
A successful attack will inflict 8 base damage plus 1 additional hitpoint for each 20 warding margin (endroll - 100); a damage factor of 0.050. A successful cast will also include a impact critical injury with associated critical damage.
Limitations
Arcane Blast does not work with Holy Receptacle (325), Magic Item Creation (420), Haste (506), Rapid Fire (515), Charge Item (517), nor Scroll Infusion (714).
