Hand of Tonis is named after Tonis, the Arkati of Speed, Travel and Thieves. There are two versions of this spell. A CS based warding attack which attempts to stun a target by stealing its breath, and an AS based bolt spell which uses the spell aiming skill and becomes available with 20 ranks Elemental Lore, Air training. This second version, commonly referred to as Tonis Bolt, hurls a churning bolt of air at the target and must be cast in a stance other than guarded or defensive.
Spell Usage
- Normal use: CAST {target} or INCANT this spell to cause a hand of air to reach out and squeeze the breath from your target thereby, stunning it. The stun roundtime is determined by the endroll success margin. (ER - 100) / 2 = stun RT measured in seconds.
- Bolt use: Prep 505, EVOKE {target}. Requires 20 ranks of Elemental Lore, Air (see below for additional information).
- This spell can be cast at clouds to disperse them.
- Self-casting the CS version will cause a column of air to form around you and blow your hair in all directions: a 'hair dryer' of sorts (no mechanical effect).
Lore Benefits
Bolt Version
20 ranks of Elemental Lore, Air unlocks a bolt version of the spell and is cast using Prep 505, EVOKE {target}. In addition to Hitpoint damage, this spell uses the Unbalance critical table, producing injuries along with frequent knockdowns and stuns.
Increased Damage Factor
Training in Elemental Lore, Air increases the spell's damage factor (DF). Since the initial 20 ranks of EL:Air are required for the bolt version, they are excluded from the DF bonus.
