Arcane Blast is an attack spell designed specifically to ease mana constraints early on in the careers of pure professions: cleric, empath, sorcerer, and wizard. Arcane Blast is unique among spells as it requires no mana to cast and it is known innately (without training Spell Research). It can be cast as both a warding spell and a bolt spell. In trade for these advantages, unlike other spells, it will induce five (5) seconds of hard roundtime (RT) for the caster (which is ordinarily three (3) seconds of cast roundtime for most spells). Furthermore, it cannot be used with or gains no advantage by coupling with a host of other spells where its zero mana cost would be overly powerful.

Usage

  • PREP 1700 | CAST {target} or INCANT 1700
  • PREP 1700 | EVOKE {target} to cast the bolt version of the spell
  • INCANT 1700 EVOKE to evoke this spell once using INCANT
  • INCANT SET EVOKE 1700 to always evoke this spell using INCANT 1700

To effectively use the bolt version, training in Spell Aiming is required, and casting from an offensive stance is strongly recommended.

Damage Factor (DF) Table

The warding version is functionally identical to the retired spell Force Orb (1201) in terms of the amount of damage done, whereas the bolt version uses a damage table identical to Minor Shock (901) except that both versions result in impact damage.

Warding DF

A successful attack will inflict 8 base damage plus 1 additional hitpoint for each 20 warding margin (endroll - 100) (damage factor of 0.050). A successful cast will also include an impact critical injury with associated critical damage and status effects.

Limitations

This spell is available to pure professions only. Arcane Blast does not work with Holy Receptacle (325), Magic Item Creation (420), Haste (506), Rapid Fire (515), Charge Item (517), nor Scroll Infusion (714).
