Weddings/What To Do the Day Of
Disclaimer
For the purposes of this tutorial, and to ensure that we are capturing as many things as possible, the default for each person, space, or item will be identified as the following:
- Spouse1 - this person has purchased the license and/or obtained it. In the examples listed here, this person is female.
- Spouse2 - this is the person who will be marrying the license holder. In the examples listed here, this person is male.
- Package Type - this will always be deluxe so that we can handle the largest amount of data at once. All other packages have fewer items. Where we can, we will note the differences.
- Wedding Hall - this will always be Kraken's Fall, but you can visit any of the Wedding Halls in the lands that are open.
- Wedding Planner - this will always be Anne, but your wedding planner can be anyone that is associated with a wedding hall.
Note On Wedding Couples: Couples seeing to be married may be any of these combinations: female/female, female/male, male/female, male/male.
Note About Entering the Wedding Hall: It is incredibly important to remember that you can not get into a Wedding Hall until you have obtained a wedding license and had it signed by two interested parties.
Note About Meetings with the Wedding Planner: It is also important to note that meeting with the Wedding Planner only requires one Spouse and that it doesn't matter if it is Spouse 1 or Spouse 2. Both spouses can enter the wedding hall. Both spouses can handle this portion of the planning stage. It is not, however, a requirement.
What to do on the Day of your Wedding
Your big day has arrived! What should you do? Don't panic, we have you covered. Herein lies a few tips for how to handle the big day.
What to do before you get to the Wedding Glade
Here's a quick list of things you should do before getting to the wedding glade:
- Try to reduce the number of items you carry. This is your special day, there's no reason for you to be weighted down.
- Bring a large container with you. You'll want to have something with you to carry any presents you may receive.
- Bring a knife to cut your wedding cake with! You can't serve your wedding cake without a knife to cut it.
- Grab your wedding trunk! You'll want to make sure that you have your items on you for the glade.
- Make sure you have your Spousal Invitation. This is helpful both before and during the ceremony.
Thirty Minutes Before
- Thirty minutes prior to the start of your ceremony, a crier will call out to let everyone know that it is time to start gathering. The crier will only speak to those people that you have given an invitation to and no one else.
A wedding attendant rushes toward you, pausing briefly to catch his breath, then reads from a leather-bound journal in a clear but soothing voice, "Spouseone, it is time for you to begin preparations for your wedding which is scheduled to begin in approximately 16 minutes. Please proceed to your dressing room at your earliest convenience. As a reminder, your invitation will serve as your transport, as it has been imbued with the magic of teleportation. Don't be late, and best of luck to you and your intended!" He quickly pockets the journal and hurries off in the direction of the nearest Wedding Hall. [KISS INVITATION will teleport you to your dressing room, or RAISE INVITATION will teleport you to the Approach where guests are gathering in the "Secluded Beach" wedding area.]
Once you are transported to your wedding area for the first time, your invitation will be pinned to you. Don't worry, we've done it discreetly so that you can interact with it and it won't sully your ensemble.
Dressing Room
Once in your dressing room, you have time to change into your wedding clothing and you have a trunk that can hold the items you don't want at your ceremony.
There is a mirror here that you can use to make sure everything is perfect.
If you forgot something in town, have no fear you can CLENCH your invitation to get back to the town.
In the Wedding Glade
- When your wedding is scheduled to start, your Officiant will ask everyone to gather at the altar.
For a preview of the start of the ceremony, click here. With both hands raised in the air, an attendant enters and announces, "If everyone could please settle down, the ceremony is about to begin." You notice Murwer follow behind and pause just outside the ceremony area, his head lowered while visibly deep in thought as the attendant quietly retreats. When you are ready, you or your intended can "WHISPER Murwer START" to begin the ceremony. Make sure to WHISPER Murwer HELP before you begin so that you can see what you can ask him about.
- Your officiant is the sole of patience. They will wait for you to arrive.
- Once you do arrive, your officiant will whisper instructions for you and ONLY start when you tell them to.
For a preview of officiant's instructions, click here. Whisper Officiant Help Murwer whispers discreetly to you, "Here is what you can whisper to me:
PAUSE/WAIT: If you need me to PAUSE or WAIT before proceeding, you can WHISPER MURWER {PAUSE|WAIT} {# of seconds greater than 5} and I will pause for that amount of time before I continue.
EJECT: If you need to remove an unruly guest from the ceremony, you can WHISPER MURWER {name} and I will see to it that they are removed. They will not be able to return for the duration of the event.
START: You can WHISPER MURWER START when you are ready to begin the ceremony. Bear in mind that I will BY DEFAULT pause for 30 seconds between each of my messages. If you want them faster (20 seconds), you can WHISPER MURWER START FAST. If you want them slower (40 seconds), you can WHISPER MURWER START SLOW. If you do not give a speed, it will remain at 30 seconds. This cannot be changed once the ceremony has begun, but you can use the PAUSE/WAIT whisper command if you need some time at a particular part of the ceremony. Only ONE of you should START the ceremony.
One important thing to mention -- I can pause the ceremony for as long as you need, but this will not extend the set duration of your time here, and the wedding will still end at its scheduled time."
- A gift table will be set out at the entry to the venue. Your guests may leave gifts on the table, and you can GET each one, or CLEAN all of the gifts from the table at once into a held container. When you GET a gift from the table or your container, it will remind you who gave the gift. When you are done with the table, or if you do not wish to receive gifts, DISMISS the table. You will receive a gift list detailing all of the gifts received along with their giver when you DISMISS the gift table, along with a final gift from the wedding staff.
We'll let you handle it from here!
