Summary

• Magister Cordarius comes to town with news.
  • First, he'd like to meet again within the week to discuss theories regarding the blight and what to do about it; he'd love some of them to be presented beforehand or during the discussion.
  • Second, Thadston is alive and being kept under observation at the [[::Kingdom of Hendor|Hendoran]] outpost, where he and Magister [[::Raelee_Svala|Raelee]] have seen him.

• When others found him, Thadston was said to be wandering the Bleaklands with blood dripping from his arms and with shards infused in his flesh, potentially from his kroderine gauntlets. He hadn't lost any weight, and the wound at his side was gone. He at first didn't recognize anyone or anything, so the Hall withheld the information for weeks while verifying that he was truly alive and not just animated flesh.

• [[::Ysharra_Nagorn|Ysharra]] asks if it's possible he was afected by the time shifting in the Bleaklands and Cordarius says anything's possible. Captain Shinann asks when she and Captain Stormyrain can see Thadston; Cordarius he says the goal is to have him see a handful of visitors he knew well within a week. Mayor Lylia asks if Casiphia has been to see him; Cordarius says no.

• Cordarius says Thadston's been sleeping with the Hall's aid, so Stormy asks if they'll minimize sedating him now that they know he'll live. Cordarius says they'll do what's necessary and it's hard to observe him if he's always sleeping; Stormy says he's a [[::Wehnimer's Landing|Landing]] citizen and marshal, so he needs to be returned. After some further back and forth, Cordarius says we're on the same side and in a week he'll have visitors and we'll go from there. Furthermore, the Hall thinks Thadston might be blind.

• Cordarius looks forward to discussing the blight. He recieves a note from a glowing white light and whispers something to Raelee, then departs for the night.

Waiting in the Snow

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see some acantha leaf, a sharp-eared fire wyrdling, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, an aged scroll, some stone benches with some stuff on it and an herbal remedy donation bin.

The sky is filled with a blanket of low clouds, pale and unmoving. Sounds seem muffled and the air feels thick and takes on a quiet stillness.

Hapenlok says, "But the Krolvin lover, I've got a score to settle." (referring to Stephos DeArchon and Hap's ongoing desire to kill him)

Leafiara mischievously says, "Though if it really *is* her, a threat that Mother made to destroy Stephos' ships would be... kinda brilliant." (referring to the speculation some have that Mother is Alendrial DeArchon; if that were true, and if Stephos knows such--which he very well might, considering [[::Mayor%27s_Minutes_-_A_Proposal_by_Stephos|his reaction to Florania]] here--then her threat to [[::Witchful_Thinking_-_5119-11-26_-_Last_Stand#Stop_the_Proceedings|destroy Stephos' ships]] if Thadston proceeded with sweeps wouldn't have even been arson because it's her own family's property)

Speaking to Antaean, Lyrna says, "Also, I don't have so many of the... hangups.. many Vaalorians do."

Antaean says, "I wasn't aware they had hangups."

Speaking to Leafiara, Hapenlok says, "How and why he survived the fight against Raznel, I'll never know."

Lyrna says, "Just as well."

Speaking heavily to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "Yeah, I don't know how he survives time and again either."

Hapenlok says, "But, that means I get a chance."

Lyrna says, "But then, I'm no longer, technically, Vaalorian."

Speaking to Lyrna, Hapenlok repeats, "Tech-nic-ally?"

Pukk says, "It's snowing."

Antaean says, "They are small folk and I generally don't look down at them unless they are pretty and provocative." (conversation before the snow started was about halflings)

Tiny glistening flakes of snow descend from the sky.

Tareo just arrived.

Speaking to Leafiara, Soneiken says, "It's quite obvious, he buys favor with anybody, anything, in trade for promised mercantile services."

Lyrna says, "By which I mean, I believe I've been officially removed from the records as having ever been Vaalorian even."

Pukk recites:

"Everybody join ....Leafi!" (no Cryheart present)

Ushea asks, "Why, what we doing?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "You're it."

Leafiara amusedly says, "Apparently joining me and waiting for Cordarius."

Bernadette softly says, "Sure."

Speaking to Lyrna, Antaean says, "That's sad."

Pukk recites:

Speaking to Pukk, Ushea asks, "If she's it, dont we run away from her though?"

Zosopage says, "I never did prefer being the leader."

Speaking to Zosopage, Hapenlok says, "Me neither, I never shirked from it, but ...a lot of people followed me to an early grave. It's why I prefer...being solo."

Ysharra: "Good evening, Cordarius."

Lazaryth: "Good evening."

Speaking to Antaean, Lyrna says, "I'm not sorry I'm here, and I am glad of the people here. But I do miss Vaalor sometimes."

Hapenlok: "Well, another new voice I hear in my head."

Guarrin: "Evening."

Hapenlok: "I guess that's someone I'm going to have to meet, I guess."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Zosopage says, "I had no choice when in the Fury."

Hapenlok: "Tell me, though, Is Captain Autura still alive and well?"

Speaking to Ushea, Pukk says, "You have to watch out for those imps."

Zosopage says, "Then again I suppose I could have delegated."

Speaking to Chaoswynd, Lyrna says, "Still love this armor. It has been doing well for me."

Speaking to Lyrna, Chaoswynd says, "Glad to hear it."

Speaking to Shinann, Leafiara says, "I've been trying to find you..."

Speaking to Shinann, Leafiara says, "Well, I guess it can wait since Cordarius is coming, but I have something for you."

Speaking to Shinann, Pukk says, "Join up."

Lyrna says, "Shall we head east."

Leafiara exclaims, "Yep!"

Speaking to Soneiken, Zosopage says, "You were so quiet I didn't even see ya there."

Leafiara declares, "Movin'!"

[Town Square, East]

Here in the center of a broad plaza near the commercial area of the bazaar stands the impressive facade of the slate-roofed Moot Hall, where the citizens of Wehnimer's Landing hold various official, religious and social functions. Facing the square are some of the town's more prosperous shops, still doing business with the many customers who still frequent the streets at night. You also see a dimly radiant floating orb of golden flame, a snow white raven, an iced orange muffin, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, a giant mound of snow, a polished bleakstone statue and a large purple wooden barrel. Speaking amusedly to Zosopage, Leafiara says, "Oh, that's where you sent it." (the dimly radiant floating orb of golden flame came from his lantern)

Lylia makes a quick gesture while calling upon the powers of the elements...

Lylia gestures.

A strong whirlwind whips through the area, stirring up dust and other small pieces of debris, which form a small cloud overhead.

A bolt of pure energy suddenly leaps out from the center of the dust cloud, striking Lylia and knocking her to the ground!

... 1 point of damage!

Light shock to back. That stings!

The whirlwind subsides, allowing the dust cloud to settle.

Lylia stands up.

Cordarius: "Where is everyone gathering these days?"

Leafiara: "Many are outside Moot Hall for the time!"

Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra says, "It's a cold night. Builds up a charge."

Speaking to Pukk, Lazaryth asks, "Did you finish that apple?"

Cordarius: "Outside? Are we barbarians?"

Speaking to Lazaryth, Pukk exclaims, "Yep!"

Leafiara: "I can't necessarily say no..."

Zosopage: "No we just love to get covered in snow. Good camouflage."

Lyrna: "I'm sure we could be convinced to move elsewhere."

Raelee: "Your announcement, Cordarius. Make it where you see fit."

Hapenlok: "Oh, I think I'm going to like you already."

Leafiara: "The Abandoned Inn is lovely this time of year!"

Speaking to Lazaryth, Pukk says, "I think healthy foods don't sit with me well....I got sick from it."

Speaking to Pukk, Lazaryth says, "Well, I told you not to eat it."

Leafiara wryly says, "Hey, *one* of these days some guest will listen to my Abandoned Inn suggestion."

Speaking to Lazaryth, Pukk exclaims, "Exactly!"

Speaking to Hapenlok, Stormyrain says, "You're not dead."

Leafiara says, "So far it's been a no from Dennet, Osment, Cyph, and probably now Cordarius." (might have been Reannah instead of Cyph, actually)

Pukk says, "Now you understand."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Hapenlok says, "Been about fifteen years, Captain." (OOC notes: Hap's running story to explain his character's absence is that, in order to prevent Raznel from taking control of him yet again when he sensed it beginning to happen, he found a way to seal himself away in another dimension. There, time passed differently from our dimension--some 15-20 years that were a mere six months or so for us. Despite having expected to die there, he found his way out through a dimensional tear, but the aging has taken its toll.)

Hapenlok says, "Glad to see most of the old faces."

Stormyrain says, "..it's been about four months. But, I suppose time feels different to you."

Lylia dryly says, "My face is no older than it was last night. Except by a night."

Zosopage says, "Now he's calling us old. How rude."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Hapenlok says, "Well, to be brief, the night you all went after the first paragon, I banished myself."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Hapenlok says, "And it took me years to find my way back."

Hapenlok says, "Time and space."

Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra says, "That's barely a heartbeat, to a beauty such as you possess."

Speaking to Hapenlok, Pukk exclaims, "I missed you too little buddy!"

Cordarius' Arrival

Magister Cordarius just arrived.

Speaking warmly to Ysharra, Lylia says, "Oh, flatterer."

Speaking to Pukk, Hapenlok says, "I owe you a handshake."

Speaking amiably to Cordarius, Leafiara says, "Evenin'."

Speaking to Pukk, Hapenlok says, "Later ...though."

Lylia lightly says, "Speaking of flatterers...good evening, Magister Cordarius."

Speaking to Cordarius, Goldstr says, "Evenin Magister."

Cordarius grins at Lylia.

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "Hello again, sirrah. Keeping warm, I hope."

Cordarius exclaims, "Hello all!"

Speaking to Cordarius, Pukk says, "If you wait here with us, a evil imp mage will be here soon."

Cordarius says, "Yes, some nights."

Cordarius winks at Ysharra.

Speaking to Ushea, Pukk says, "He is an imp."

Lyrna says, "Good evening, Magister."

Speaking to Cordarius, Zosopage says, "Good eve to you."

Pukk says, "Anytime now."

Speaking to Pukk, Hapenlok says, "I haven't seen you in a long time, and I already want to kill you."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "I hope you'll spare us the details, we'll get jealous."

Pukk says, "Wait..."

Cordarius says, "I've some news to share."

Speaking amusedly to Hapenlok, Leafiara says, "So business as usual."

Cordarius says, "Well, we, I suppose."

Cordarius nods at Raelee.

Speaking to Hapenlok, Zosopage says, "He has that kind of face, doesn't he."

Speaking to Cordarius, Pukk says, "Oh yeah, you're the imp with a sense of humor."

Cordarius asks, "Imp!?"

Cordarius sets about preparing himself to be as presentable as possible.

Pukk says, "Imp."

Speaking flatly to Cordarius, Raelee says, "You were so eager to spread the news. Do proceed."

Speaking to Bbee, Lazaryth says, "You've always had an unusual way of making friends."

Speaking to Cordarius, Leafiara explains, "Short for Imperial... it's Pukk-speak."

Cordarius says, "Let's go inside though."

Maylan asks, "Who is this fella again?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "It works, no? You enjoy talking, thus it is now your job."

Lylia traces an arcane sigil in the air while incanting, resulting in the opening of a small rift in space beside her. Her eyes glow momentarily as a lean white imp comes hurtling out of the rift.

Cordarius asks, "Mayor, your office? While we still can?"

Lylia says, "That is an imp."

Maylan asks, "He's an imp?"

Lylia says, "Join me."

Speaking to Raelee, Leafiara says, "The perfect subordinate then."

Speaking to a lean white imp, Ysharra says, "Welcome, NevillenotNeville."

Pukk exclaims, "Wait!"

Speaking to Leafiara, Raelee says, "A minor benefit."

Speaking to Cordarius, Bbee says, "Here drink this."

Bbee offers Cordarius a silvery blue potion.

Lyrna says, "Too slow Pukk."

Pukk recites:

"Everybody join Lylia!"

Cordarius accepts Bbee's silvery blue potion.

Lyrna says, "Gotta be faster than that."

Bbee says, "Drink up."

Speaking to Ysharra, Melikor says, "He is outside."

Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra says, "I'll have to come up with a fitting sobriquet for your..guests."

Pukk says, "Now it's official."

Speaking to Pukk, Maylan asks, "Would it help if I left and rejoined?"

[Moot Hall, Mayor Lylia's Office]

From a dais, the maoral desk and an ivory and velvet curule seat loom over two carved wooden chairs. Tapestry rugs cover the hardwood floor, their patterns complementing the arched windows flanking the desk. A stag's head stares at a panoramic fresco mounted opposite it. In a corner near the bar, a scarred witchwood perch rises to the high ceiling, while several feet away, a black iron stove rests against the west wall and is topped with a silver kettle. You also see a lean white imp, a varnished modwir door, a maoral bookcase and a small maoral sideboard with some stuff on it.

Lylia says, "Avail yourself of the bar, if you like. Or of the tea-kettle."

Speaking to herself, Maylan says, "Don't mind if I do."

Cordarius leans against a maoral desk.

Speaking to Cordarius, Maylan says, "Mind the desk. She's testy about it."

Hapenlok says, "I've greatly missed coffee in my time in exile."

Suddenly you have the strangest feeling that you are being watched.

The feeling fades as quickly as it came.

Cordarius gives a slight flick of his wrist, and a crisp green apple suddenly appears in his hand!

Speaking to Cordarius, Goldstr asks, "It be good news Sir?"

Pukk says, "Somebody peekin."

Speaking to Lazaryth, Leafiara wonders, "Need a fresh one of those?"

Cordarius says, "Yes, I think so."

Lazaryth asks, "Mm?"

Speaking to Bbee, Zosopage asks, "Any more of them potions by chance?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "Please."

Cordarius says, "But before I get to it, since there will be boundless questions..."

Speaking to Leafiara, Bbee asks, "Did he drink it?"

(Leafiara glances at Lazaryth and then appraisingly at the apple.)

Speaking to Cordarius, Lylia says, "There always are."

Lazaryth says, "Ah.. no thank you. I've had my fill of apples for a while."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "Tease."

Speaking deeply to Goldstr, Guarrin says, "Another friend of mine was quite fond of it as well."

Blight Plans

Cordarius says, "I'd like us to meet again within the week, well, for those who wish to meet to discuss the blight."

Cordarius says, "And perhaps begin some further work on what we can do."

Raelee quietly says, "We are nearly ready to begin."

Cordarius says, "I've heard rumors there's a handful of theories running around."

Lyrna says, "I do have some information regarding that."

Cordarius says, "I'd love to have some presented beforehand, or during our discussion."

Goldstr asks, "Da witch put bugs in some a us. Can we git rid a dem?"

Cordarius says, "Let's see what we can do. Together."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra asks, "That it feeds off of mana, especially concentrated nodes and the Reach?"

Cordarius says, "I do not wish to have us overlapping our efforts."

Speaking to Madmountan, Ushea says, "Thanks, um, got in a little over my head with that ale."

Speaking to Raelee, Lyrna says, "I was actually hoping to speak with you again soon regarding it."

Maylan says, "It's clearly Rodnay's doing."

Bbee says, "You owe me a hug for that potion."

Speaking quietly to Lyrna, Raelee says, "Very well."

Cordarius says, "So we'll get to that in time."

Regarding Thadston

Cordarius says, "Now for my other news."

Cordarius says, "Sir Thadston is alive."

Lazaryth says, "Excellent."

Speaking to Cordarius, Bbee says, "You owe me a hug for that potion."

Lylia says, "Wonderful news."

Leafiara confidently says, "Knew he was too stubborn to die out there."

Bernadette softly says, "Good news indeed."

Speaking to Cordarius, Stormyrain asks, "You've seen him?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra asks, "Is he...all right?"

Shinann asks, "Where is he?"

Lylia nods at Ysharra.

Cordarius says, "I have seen him. So has Magister Raelee."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra asks, "Does he need healing?"

Lylia says, "That was my first question too."

Stormyrain says, "I see."

Shinann asks, "Where is he?"

Cordarius says, "In the Outpost under observation still."

Maylan surprisedly exclaims, "So he's home!"

Zosopage says, "Thadston is a stubborn one."

Cordarius says, "It is our hope within a week or so we can permit others to visit."

Leafiara says, "Well, as long as he's recovering alright..."

Goldstr exclaims, "Good news to hear!"

Stormyrain asks, "Permit?"

Cordarius says, "We had some concerns."

Maylan says, "Oh oh we should bring him soup."

Speaking to Cordarius, Lazaryth says, "Do tell."

Ysharra says, "That sounds...like the news is tinged with some reality. He must be needing some special attending."

Cordarius says, "In fact, we learned of his survival a few weeks ago."

Cordarius nods at Lylia. (indiscernible what this is a response to)

Lyrna asks, "What IS his condition?"

Maylan mutters, "Coulda told us a few weeks ago."

Stormyrain asks, "Is he there of his own volition?"

Shinann says, "You did not tell us? I wish to see him."

Raelee says, "He is not conscious enough to offer an opinion."

Cordarius says, "I was not there when they found him in the Bleaklands. So I know only what I've been told but..."

Guarrin deeply asks, "Who found him?"

Ysharra says, "He's been through a great deal. I am amazed and grateful he yet lives."

Lylia says, "Has he been attended by those who know his condition best, including Casiphia? While I feel certain he is receiving the best of care, it is important that he also have continuity of care."

Zosopage says, "Just don't let Crux near him."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia murmurs something you don't understand.

Leafiara wonders, "Do you all hire empaths or other healers, or is it truly only a Hall of *Mages*?"

Cordarius says, "It had been some time after the battle with the witch when he was found, but he was alive...and wandering the Bleaklands. Blood dripping from his arms and hands, shards infused into his flesh. Likely from his gauntlets."

Speaking in Faendryl to Lylia, Ysharra says something you don't understand.

Maylan says, "Whoa..."

Cordarius says, "He had not seem to have lost any weight, despite his lack of options for nutrition."

Cordarius says, "...and the festering wound on his side."

Cordarius says, "Gone."

Hapenlok murmurs, "There was a blood apple tree out in the Bleaklands, wasn't there?" (several now)

Lazaryth says, "Curious."

Speaking to Cordarius, Hleef says, "Maybe assuming the shards are from his gauntlets isn't the best avenue."

Ysharra asks, "Have you made sure he's not a golem?"

Goldstr says, "Verra good news der."

Ysharra says, "Because these people will ask."

Lazaryth says, "And potentially disturb -"

Lazaryth says, "Yes."

Bbee says, "Gotta stay smelling good when you charge hugs."

Speaking to Ysharra, Leafiara says, "I was about to ask that, but Raelee would know to check."

Madmountan says, "Assuming that's related to her dying."

Raelee flatly says, "... he is not a golem."

Cordarius says, "He did not seem to recognize anyone or anything at first, and yes, we did worry..."

Cordarius asks, "Is the flesh alive? What of the man?"

Cordarius says, "So you will forgive our caution for a measure of time."

Cordarius says, "To ensure the man truly was still alive."

Cordarius says, "No point in getting people's hopes up."

Cordarius asks, "You know?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "Is it possible that he was...affected by some of the timeshifting we saw in the Bleaklands."

Cordarius says, "Let the man die a hero if he's gone."

Lazaryth noncommittally says, "Mm."

Maylan says, "He's already changed so much over the years."

Shinann asks, "When can Captain Stormyrain and I see him?"

Cordarius nods at Ysharra.

Cordarius says, "Anything is possible. We know so little of the Bleaklands."

Speaking in Sylvankind, Stormyrain bitterly states, "Men and their need for 'heroes'."

Lylia says, "Understandable. We must care not only for the individual but also for the legacy that remains. Sensible, really."

Cordarius says, "Within a week's time is our goal."

Cordarius nods at Shinann.

Guarrin whispers something to Stormyrain.

Cordarius says, "A handful of visitors. Those he knew well."

Lazaryth calmly says, "I'll certainly be curious to hear his story."

Shinann nods at Cordarius.

Cordarius says, "He's been sleeping for awhile, with our aid."

Speaking to Lazaryth, Ysharra says, "I wish we could see him."

Speaking to Cordarius, Maylan promises, "We will bring soup."

Cordarius says, "As we finish conducting some...observations."

Cordarius exclaims, "But enough has been done to verify he is truly alive. This is good news!"

Lazaryth says, "I agree that a man recovering from something like that probably doesn't want thirty near-strangers around his bed."

Lylia says, "Unquestionably good news. But speaking of strangers, has Casiphia been in attendance too? Perhaps she could shed light on his condition."

Speaking deeply to Lazaryth, Zolis says, "I fail to see how that's stressful."

Lyrna says, "Probably. There are things worse than Gosaena's realm."

Cordarius says, "Whatever he endured in the Bleaklands, he survived, he's here, and that is good news."

Felita says, "We hopins fer best."

Cordarius says, "She has not."

Cordarius looks over at Lylia and shakes his head.

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "I am content with the news he lives, and I know Magister Raelee and your colleagues will study his condition."

Cordarius agrees with Ysharra.

Speaking to Cordarius, Leafiara says, "Pretty well, up until your outpost lost him." (following the train of thought here... Leafi was initially referring to the [[::Landing_Events_-_5118-10-29_-_Delivery_for_Thrayzar|militia holding Thrayzar]] after use of the Rone gauntlets left him temporally unstable. Cordarius seemingly jumped about a year ahead to the current situation in which Thrayzar is lost, so Leafi too switched gears to say that it was the outpost that [[::Witchful_Thinking_-_5119-11-09_-_Dis-ceptive_Dis-truction#Regrouping_Again|Raznel released him from]]. If he'd wanted to continue the argument, then the best followup counter would have been that moving Thrayzar there was Thadston's idea. That would have blindsided Leafi and essentially won the debate, if we want to frame it as such, but ironically it would be missing her point a bit. Leafi doesn't actually mind Thadston being kept at the outpost since she assumes he's still in good standing with the Hendorans after his time as outpost commander, so she never backed up Stormy or Shinann in wanting him returned. She just disagreed with the idea that the Landing can't contain someone, then Cordarius took a snipe and she fired back, heh.)

Speaking sarcastically to Cordarius, Hapenlok comments, "Oh, yes....I do believe I like you."

Stormyrain dryly says, "I'm not sure he would hold the same opinion if he knew that the Magister was involved with Grishom Stone." (For such a short statement, the number of things to unpack here is pretty wild. If she was referring to the recent vision of [[::Landing_Events_-_5119-12-01_-_Time%27s_Gate#The_Changed_Future|seeing Raelee with Grishom]], then it makes sense why Thadston wouldn't know of it, but then it might not even necessarily be so much "was involved" as "will be involved"--or even "is involved." On the other hand, if Stormy was referring to whatever incident led [[::Landing_Events_-_5119-12-01_-_Time%27s_Gate#Contemplation|Grishom to guard her mind]], then framing it as past tense makes sense, but I'm not sure why Thadston doesn't know such considering that it's been known at least for [[::Keeping_Up_with_the_Kestrels_-_5117-10-19_-_Rodnay_and_the_Talon#Guarded_Minds..._Both_Magically_and_Mundanely|years]], if not longer.)

There is a small glow of white light next to Cordarius and a sealed parchment drops from it and into his hand. The light fades as he looks down, opening the note to read.
