Summary

Elidal Dhenin comes to speak with everyone in the hills near Darkstone Castle. Though he says his coronation is most likely months away, he adds there's too much work to be done here before they consider a grand gesture. He offers apologies over the wagon ruse and says not to blame his brother Enisius Dhenin. Councilor Kayse says it demonstrated how expendable Wehnimer's Landing is to the Turamzzyrian Empire, but he says the people aren't and never will be expendable. He hopes they'll be their fastest and strongest ally soon, saying he'll be making the case in the coming weeks for how they need the Landing.

For now, he wants to hear everyone's concerns. Numerous questions are rattled off by Archious along with Councilors Kayse, Kiyna, and Vaemyr, Sir Geijon, and others; ultimately Elidal says:

  • They have no desire to change the Landing government
  • Business competition is healthy
  • They'll be wise in use of resources with the help of Aronia of Imaera's Green Sisters
  • The Landing's assistance will be needed by the weekend in ensuring the safety of the first caravan set to establish a camp in the Dragonsclaw; it will have some guards, but aid is welcome and necessary
  • He has no army at the moment, but that will come eventually as soldiers settle here under the charge of Commander Sablo
  • His scouts will be mindful of the Obsidian Tower
  • Everything will take time, as establishing a barony can take years
  • He can't strike any agreements yet
  • His brother Enisius Dhenin won't underestimate Darkstone Castle

Log

Standing in the Snow

[General] Cryheart thinks, "Weather in Landing."

[General] Directed to Gutstorm, Nalver thinks, "Please don't pee the bed tonight. Sick of cleaning the sheets."

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Maleagant disk, the discordant Tikba disk, the Melainae disk, the ivy-trimmed Aspyre disk dotted with clusters of Imaera's Lace, the sparking Dendum disk, the blue Taravangian disk, the skull-shaped Irval disk, the Kisun disk, the mist-hazed Asthenea disk, the Beansie disk, the icy blue Kyralina disk, a sleek arctic fox that is sitting, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, an ivy-covered white monir tower, a round silver-banded barrel, an herbal remedy donation bin and some wide stone benches with some stuff on it.

Also here: Event Planner Leafiara, Nalver, Maleagant, Tikba, Yhanse, Saiteari, Melainae, Anyauma, Great Lady Aspyre, Seneschal Dendum, Bluey, Great Lord Taravangian, Bernadette, Irval, Kisun, Lord Beansie, Asthenea, Sir Cryheart, Sir Guarrin, Lady Kyralina, Persistance

[General] Gutstorm drunkenly thinks, "Me shaw yoo go in temple."

Beansie says, "Careful with that sorceror."

Beansie says, "It's a dangerous tool of combat."

Leafiara muses, "Hm, wonder what Gutstorm was talking about..."

Nalver says, "Weather."

Asthenea softly asks, "Its not for eats?"

Pukk recites:

"Everybody join Cryheart!"

[General] Lunatick exclaims, "Oh yay snow!"

Beansie says, "No no."

[General] Leafiara thinks, "Oh, no, I was just running by to see Phenia home for the night."

Beansie says, "It's for fighting."

[Drakes] Nalver thinks, "Snow in the landing."

[General] Leafiara enthuses, "But yes, now it's snowing!"

Pukk exclaims, "Let us join!"

Cryheart says, "Now."

Pukk recites:

"Everybody join Cryheart!"

Speaking to Cryheart, Nalver says, "Be nice."

Speaking to Missoni, Tikba inquires, "Did you think I was unfair to the poor Captain?"

Speaking to a pale-faced coppery barn owl, Pukk says, "I fed you that tart. I hope you liked it."

Cryheart says, "Was daydreaming."

Asthenea softly says, "Snowflakes."

Cryheart says, "Cold snowflake."

Tikba says, "I thought you seemed a bit doubtful earlier. Perhaps I should have been more trusting."

[General] Aurien thinks, "Hmm still in castle."

Beansie says, "Smells like magic."

Cryheart says, "It is going to get colder."

Lunatick says, "Oh, i was thinkin' snowmen."

Lunatick says, "But that works too."

Cryheart says, "Snow."

Bluey exclaims, "WINTER FESTIVAL is happening soon!"

A flurry of snow falls about.

Pukk exclaims, "We are saved Kayse and Kiyna are here!"

Leafiara muses, "Right back."

[Help] Gutstorm: "So GMs can throw rocks at you and kill you."

[General] Bluey exclaims, "Oooo dats why I go KABLUEY so much eh Gutstorm them rocks hurt!"

[Help] Pukk: "GM's can do pretty much anything....even put a kick me sign on it before you die."

[Help] Gutstorm: "Im not sure I can ever top that."

[OOC note: He's referencing an invasion from the day before that featured this gem: A huge boulder comes soaring into view, arcing up into the night and descending upon Wehnimer's Landing! As it comes closer into view, a small yellow "Kick Me!" sign is stuck upon the rock as it lands on Gutstorm with a loud, squishy crunch!

That log is maybe possibly coming eventually. Nothing especially important happened in it, though, as it was just another Gnul attack.]

[Help] Yardie: "Tried to warn you!"

[Help] Dracord: "Gutstorm - you got the win. that was priceless."

Speaking to Perigourd, Ulfwine says, ""hopefully you wont need to drag my corpse any tonight."

Speaking to Ulfwine, Perigourd says, "Hopefully I won't have to drag anyones."

[General] Leafiara understandingly thinks, "Oh."

Kelfyr says, "I haven't gotten any lighter in twenty four hours."

Speaking lightly to Perigourd, Tikba asks, "Midnight snack?"

Speaking to Tikba, Perigourd says, "Research, more like."

Speaking to Perigourd, Tikba says, "I am eager to read it."

Tikba says, "Academic, for me, I fear."

Flurries of snow fall about.

Sairai softly says, "That snow is kinda chilly."

Goldstr says, "Aye chilly."

Lunatick asks, "As opposed to warm snow?"

Speaking to Lunatick, Perigourd asks, "You mean sand?"

Evia says, "I love chili."

Sairai softly says, "Wow."

Mourdeyan says, "Or mud."

Pukk recites:

"Just to remind everybody. Join Cryheart. If he is snoozin, just poke him."

Lunatick says, "Cold sand is the wost."

Lunatick says, "Worst too."

[General] Sairai thinks, "Look into the sky and the shape might make you think of making bread."

Speaking to Perigourd, Lunatick asks, "Wouldn't warm snow just be water?"

Speaking deeply to Pukk, Roelon says, "And if he asks who did it? We point at ye."

Speaking to her silver pitcher, Stormyrain mutters, "Trecherous thing."

Pukk says, "I will agree to that."

Speaking to Lunatick, Perigourd says, "Depends on how long it's warm for."

Elidal's Reintroduction

[General] Elidal thinks, "Good evening all."

[General] Perigourd thinks, "Fair Eve."

[General] Evia thinks, "Good evening to you."

[General] Guarrin thinks, "Good evening."

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "Evening."

[General] Kiyna thinks, "Good evening, Elidal."

[General] Ouidanna thinks, "I just got a bounty from Rex."

[General] Elidal thinks, "I'm enjoying the view of the snow blanketing your wooded hills. I would welcome company."

Leafiara recalls, "He's... what, the commander of the Darkstonian Army?"

Leafiara asks, "Or the Baron?"

Tikba says, "He is to be the Baron of Darkstone."

[General] Lylia thinks, "A fine night for company, indeed."

Speaking to Cryheart, Perigourd says, "I believe he's at the outpost."

Cryheart says, "Wooded hill...westward."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Did you hear? Lylia got a ship! It must be some sort of dictatorship."

Leafiara says, "Ah, so we still don't know who the commander is."

Cryheart says, "'ans south."

Lylia flashes a quick grin at Pukk.

Lylia nods knowingly at Pukk.

Cryheart says, "Ok...moving out...join me quickly."

Irval says, "Elidal."

Irval says, "Hmm."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "We shall be there."

Tikba says, "Perhaps we will meet him. Or have met him, recently."

Cryheart says, "Mooving."

[travel]

Cryheart says, "Goodness."

[travel; the group is currently in the Imperial outpost]

Cryheart says, "Hmmm."

Stormyrain asks, "Roof mayhaps?"

[General] Diablic asks, "Landing invasion started yet?"

Stormyrain offers, "That would give the best view."

[General] Dendum thinks, "Hrmm yes....started with caravans has now moved to sailors in streets."

[OOC note: I couldn't make a full log of what Dendum's referencing even if I wanted, since I had to step away to run an already-scheduled event, but a few hours earlier, an Imperial ship captain named Bodohai had arrived with his crew in a man o' war, saying he was looking for a vacation away from the Empire, and went with various PCs to Helga's.]

Goldstr asks, "Wooded hills?"

Cryheart says, "Hmmm."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Vaemyr says, "If he's not actually in the wooded hills of lower dragonsclaw rather than the outpost."

[General] Tikba politely asks, "Can you be more specific?"

Stormyrain says, "Could be that as well."

[General] Directed to Dendum, Yardie asks, "Sailors? Bodohal's crew, maybe?"

Cryheart says, "That is what I thought."

Vaemyr says, "Lets check there."

[travel]

[General] Directed to Yardie, Dendum asks, ""This is the correct word yes?"

[General] Directed to Yardie, Pukk thinks, "Get your kobold army ready in case we might need them to help stop the imp invasion."

[General] Linguist thinks, "When is there going to be an invasion of hilariously underpowered monsters. Maybe things in the 30ish range."

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Wooded Hills]

Peering downslope between the modwirs, you get a panoramic view of the next valley over to the west, and a glimpse of the Darkstone Bay to the north. The rocky slope is treacherous here though, so you pull your attention away from the land miles away and back to what's under your feet, as you continue along the path. You also see a rocky trail.

Also here: Event Planner Leafiara, High Lord Nazarr, Town Councilor Vaemyr, Sir Geijon, Kelfyr, Town Councilor Kiyna, Mourdeyan, Avalera, Perigourd, Dame Evia, Missoni, Tikba, Bernadette, Sir Guarrin, Pukk, Irval, Stormyrain, Lunatick, Town Councilor Kayse, Imperatrix Lylia, Drektor, Lord Thrassus, Anyauma, Goldstr, Ulfwine, Roelon, Lord Randsford, Sir Cryheart, Seaward Gutstorm, Lord Elidal

Kiyna says, "Truly, this journey will go down as another epic in the long, long tale of Sir Cryheart."

A young woman in a silvery-white cloak seems to be conversing with Elidal.

Cryheart says, "Good evening."

A woman in a silvery-white cloak nods to Elidal, who whispers something to her. The woman's brown eyes sparkle briefly, bringing attention to the faint black markings along the sides of her face. She nods to Elidal again, says nothing, then walks off into the dark of the forest, disappearing amidst the falling snow.

Elidal nods.

Elidal turns around.

>l elid

You see Lord Elidal Dhenin.

He appears to be a Human.

He is tall and has a muscular build. He appears to be young and robust. He has sharp indigo blue eyes and tanned skin. He has short, silky strawberry blonde hair. He has an angular and chiseled face, a thin nose and a smattering of light stubble along his face.

He is in good shape.

He is wearing a lacquered fireleaf locket, a single-shoulder cape of cream wool lined with silk, a folded leather satchel, a sleeveless coffee leather jerkin secured up the front with gold buckles over an open-necked viridian linen shirt, a woven black and white ring, a small slashed leather pouch, a tooled cognac leather scabbard, some fitted beige buckskin pants, and a pair of knee-high bronze oiled leather boots.

Elidal smiles.

Tikba says, "It is nice to see you again, Elidal."

[General] Directed to Pukk, Yardie thinks, "We are not putting the kobolds in the middle of this unless absolutely necessary. I'd rather not there be a fight, but I've expressed my doubts. But I'm just your average Landing frequenter, is all."

Elidal says, "Hello again, to some of you."

[General] Leafiara amusedly thinks, "Yes, Yardie, 'average' is exactly the word I'd use to describe you."

[General] Directed disbelievingly to Yardie, Pukk thinks, "Sure you are."

Lylia says, "Good evening to you."

Speaking to Elidal, Goldstr says, "Beens awhile Sir."

Cryheart asks, "How are ye?"

Tikba wishes, "And congratulations."

Elidal says, "I am still well since last we met."

Cryheart says, "Good to hear."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Lylia, it lil nippy, me keep warm d'kay."

(Gutstorm huddles next to Lylia.)

Lylia attends to her wrap, making the wrap as presentable as possible.

Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine says, ""it is good to see you again, sir."

[General] Directed to Leafiara, Yardie thinks, "I'm just me, Leafiara. Nothing more or less. You lot are the intellectuals."

(Lylia flips a corner of her sable wrap around Gutstorm's shoulders.)

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Glad to see you doing well, also it seems that your wish to not be burdened with a crown was quite dashed rather quickly."

Elidal says, "The land is absolutely majestic."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Their love has no bounds."

Speaking drunkenly to Cryheart, Gutstorm slurs, "Dish how ye woo da ladiesh, take note."

Elidal begins chuckling at Vaemyr!

[General] Leafiara recounts, "Birthing squids, punching demons, hosting debates, becoming a Blade, forever mired in confusion and consternation... yep, sounds totally average."

Speaking to Elidal, Lylia says, "Everything looks better blanketed in something soft that smooths its rougher edges."

Elidal says, "I knew it was coming for awhile. I suppose, if done right, crowns can be light, and their burden can be lessened."

[General] Directed to Leafiara, Yardie thinks, "That's an entire Feastday."

Cryheart says, "Hopefully."

[General] Pukk thinks, "You forgot becoming the king of the kobolds."

Mourdeyan says, "Or uplifted."

[General] Lynaera mentions, "Don't leave out the kobolds. And accomplished baker."

Cryheart says, "I am sure you will do fine."

[General] Leafiara agrees, "Ah, of course!"

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "I think Bourth is no less beautiful. Just in different ways."

[General] Directed embarrassedly to Lynaera, Yardie mutters, "...and manicurist."

Elidal gazes out across the panoramic view of the valley, eyes drawn to the deep forest and Darkstone Bay beyond.

Elidal nods at Kiyna.

Elidal says, "Bourth has plenty of beauty. So does home in Riverwood."

Elidal asks, "Although, home has a way of changing, doesn't it?"

Lylia agrees, "It does."

Tikba quietly says, "Yes, it does."

Cryheart says, "Aye."

Irval says, "If you mean stones and fires."

Irval says, "Then yes."

Vaemyr says, "That it does."

Evia says, "Everything changes if we wait long enough."

Cryheart asks, "So when is the coronation? if I may ask?"

Elidal says, "No, that isn't what I mean."

Elidal looks over at Irval and shakes his head.

Elidal says, "Months away, most likely."

Elidal nods at Cryheart.

Cryheart nods at Elidal.

Speaking to Elidal, Geijon says, "Change isn't a negative, but it has to be planned and executed well in action."

Perigourd says, "I expect it depends on what you consider home to be."

Evia asks, "Perhaps springtime then?"

Speaking drunkenly to Perigourd, Gutstorm slurs, "Me like yoo beard, yoo a dwarf in trainin? Dwi teach ye how to git it all beardly like."

Elidal says, "I am hardly a fan of formalities, and there's too much work to be done here first because we even consider some grand gesture."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna offers, "I think it changes in some ways. Abruptly, uncomfortably. But I think in others, it remains quite the same and refuses to budge."

Speaking evenly to Elidal, Kayse asks, "Work? Such as?"

Speaking to Geijon, Guarrin says, "Even then it can often go awry."

Elidal says, "They'll be no wagons before the horse, so to speak."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Perigourd says, "It's a work in progress."

Regarding the Wagons

Elidal says, "Hmm, wagons. Perhaps a poor choice of words too soon."

Leafiara amusedly says, "There weren't even wagons before the boats."

Speaking to Elidal, Evia says, "We tend to enjoy feasting, arguing, over-dressing, and dancing a bit."

Elidal says, "I understand some were left more bristled than usual. My apologies. Do not blame my brother."

Elidal begins chuckling at Evia!

Speaking to Elidal, Geijon asks, "Well, a top question is surely how do you plan to build this Barony? Where will you base it from and where will your people settle?"

Elidal says, "I will ensure to include all of those at the coronation."

Elidal nods at Evia.

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "So... I guess a hot question of many folks mind is, why? While certainly this area does have a lot of beauty, it is also not exactly hospitable either, as you've very well seen with the monster attacks in the past few days. There had to of been other easier options to settle folks."

Evia beams happily at Elidal!

Vaemyr says, "Maybe you don't know that answer yourself."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Ish dere a depooty baron positon vailable?"

Speaking measuredly to Elidal, Kayse says, "The ruse only showed us how expendable Wehnimer's Landing is. We rushed to the aid of the caravan. It doesn't exactly build trust among us or the citizens."

Speaking to Elidal, Evia says, "May your crown ever be as light as a falling leaf on the wind."

Kayse adds, "Expendable to Imperials it seems."

Tikba mildly asks, "Who should we blame?"

Speaking drunkenly to Cryheart, Gutstorm slurs, "We needa bard."

Archious remarks, "I think a hotter question is what exactly entitles the Empire to claim this land at all?"

Cryheart asks, "Are ye building a different castle?"

Elidal grins at Vaemyr.

Lunatick asks, "And an even hotter question is what's the difference between magma and lava?"

Elidal asks, "I will get to your question. Councilor Vaemyr, correct?"

Archious adds, "When some made it their home years prior."

Elidal peers quizzically at Vaemyr.

Vaemyr nods at Elidal.

Vaemyr says, "Indeed."

Elidal says, "But to address yours..."

Elidal nods at Kayse.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me didnt vote for Vaemyr."

Elidal asks, "Do you prefer Councilor or Firefly?"

Lylia carefully says, "We had an opportunity to claim it as part of the greater Wehnimer's Landing region; our Town Council at the time, which is not this Town Council, chose otherwise."

Elidal peers quizzically at Kayse.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Geijon asks, "And?"

Speaking to Gutstorm, Geijon says, "He won."

Speaking steadily to Elidal, Kayse says, "In these matters, councilor will do."

Speaking drunkenly to Geijon, Gutstorm slurs, "Cubber me tnite incase flying rocks."

Speaking to Lylia, Evia says, "Quite right."

Irval whispers to the group, "Is this coronet worth a boot on our neck and a new lord to rule us? I felt we did enough of our fair share for self governing agreeing or not. I dont see the point in allowing this whelp to come in and take the reins."

Elidal says, "A interesting approach, the ability to change hats when the situation dictates. I envy that. Slightly."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Geijon says, "Your odds look poor tonight."

Elidal says, "The people of Wehnimer's Landing are not expendable, and they never will be."

Speaking to Evia, Lylia says, "You know that was not my choice, certainly. I am grabby and would have pushed our borders farther than our walls."

Elidal says, "I hope they will be our fastest and strongest ally soon."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "If that is the case many of the citizens want answers."

Irval asks, "I mean how could we not be when the lands you gain basically are just outside our gates?"

Lunatick says, "I mean, let's not be too hasty, some of the people in the Landing are expendable."

Elidal says, "We will not always agree on methods, but we shouldn't disagree on the value of people."

Speaking drunkenly to Kayse, Gutstorm slurs, "Wot da question agin?"

Speaking to Lylia, Evia says, "It was my opinion we should have at least made a modest effort."

Leafiara curiously says, "Why would the Landing be your ally? You proved rather decisively that its help isn't needed."

Elidal asks, "We did?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Leafiara.

Geijon whispers to the group, "Judge him on his actions, or atleast his record of them before we jump to too many conclusions about oppression."

Speaking to Elidal, Leafiara says, "Why, yes, of course. Your Magister brother had it handled sufficiently on his own."

Speaking to Leafiara, Kiyna says, "If you're speaking of the decoy caravan, the opposite is true."

Elidal says, "We're actually quite in need of the Landing's help. I hope to make that case to you and your people in the coming weeks."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "Where was our aid when Gnul and his forces attacked last night? I saw militia running into the Outpost. I saw no soliders around our walls of the town."

Evia says, "Because something was well-handled does not preclude allies."

Irval whispers to the group, "Is it not oppression for a power to come in and annex our lands? Just because they come with flowers to take over your lands doesnt mean that the sword isnt behind the flowers in case of non capitulation."

Speaking to Leafiara, Kiyna says, "Had none of us rushed to its defense, the trolls would have caught on much sooner - perhaps in time to find the real convoy and do serious damage where we can't as readily defend them."

Elidal says, "A simple distraction to mislead trolls, which also temporarily misled some of you, does not in any shape or form diminish the value of the people of Wehnimer's Landing or the assistance we'll need from them."

Speaking to Leafiara, Kiyna says, "The caravan wasn't where we were, but we were defending it all the same."

Guarrin whispers to the group, "Did not Lylia just address the border?"

Elidal says, "But, we're digressing for a moment...."

Leafiara relents, "Alright, then make that case when you make it later, I suppose."

Leafiara nods briefly.

Elidal says, "I did not come here to make any bold statements, or give some moving speech, or declare my intentions."

Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine asks, ""M'Lord, as Baron, you will be a vassal to Earl Jovery?"

Lylia whispers to the group, "I did, but some people do not listen because they see others' speech as merely pauses while they look for where they can make their own speeches."

Speaking drunkenly to Leafiara, Gutstorm slurs, "Wot digest mean?"

Kelfyr asks, "When you place the town between your approach and your decoy, how do you not expect it to become a target?"

Elidal says, "I've been studying your town and its history, and you are riddled with so-called imperials coming here to declare their agenda, only to betray you in the end."

Elidal asks, "Am I right?"

Vaemyr says, "Pretty much."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "Not entirely, no."

Elidal says, "I will serve the Northern Sentinel, yes."

Lylia replies, "That has some truth, yes. But only some."

Elidal nods at Ulfwine.

Mourdeyan says, "Some, not t'lump em all in a sac."

Elidal nods at Lylia.

Tikba says, "Some of the betrayals were by locals."

Speaking wryly to Gutstorm, Leafiara explains, "It's that thing you do with alcohol after it enters you and before it leaves."

Elidal says, "Yes of course, some, not all."

Speaking drunkenly to Xorus, Gutstorm slurs, "Me'd nebber keep Lylia waitin..."

Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine says, ""well so much for fear of oppression, then."

Lylia notes, "I quite liked that Praxopius fellow. Others may not agree."

Xorus says, "Fashionably late."

Elidal says, "I did not seek an audience to rattle off a list of my demands, and strategy and upcoming plans."

Elidal says, "Instead..."

Randsford whispers something to Roelon.

Leafiara recalls, "We've had positive interactions with Brieson and that's about the only one I can think of."

Elidal says, "I had hoped to enjoy this view before us, and listen to you."

Speaking to Elidal, Goldstr says, "Bourth, Hendor an Vornavis has always been friends."

People's Concerns?

Elidal asks, "What are your concerns? What do you wish to see or prevent?"

Elidal says, "Darkstone will be no different, Goldstr."

Mourdeyan says, "Not t'be the center of an inquish, inne, tarring."

Elidal inclines his ear, listening intently.

Speaking to Elidal, Goldstr says, "Den a new closer ally be welcome in me eyes."

Tikba says, "I fear my first hope is to be struck by fewer boulders."

Mourdeyan says, "And will calmer heads pr'vail."

Geijon says, "That isn't far."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna asks, "You are asking us to be frank with you, yes?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me want bouldersh aimed at me to be aimed at Geijon inshtead."

You quietly whisper to Yardie, "You don't want to know."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "I will share my concerns, to get things started."

Elidal says, "I would hope so. We've enough foliage to clear for our settlers, I would hate to add more bushes to beat around."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "A big concern among citizens is the loss of freedom within the town."

Elidal smirks.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Geijon says, "Better chances I dodge than you, aye."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Irval says, "Yah but your not suppose to try catch the boulder."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "A second concern is our town is experiencing violence and destruction from Gnul and the Illoke. We are fighting your battles at the moment based on the Empire's decision to come here."

Geijon says, "Maybe I just catch one."

Guarrin says, "Or, perhaps not."

Speaking drunkenly to Irval, Gutstorm slurs, "Troo..."

Elidal says, "Let's address one thing at a time."

Elidal nods.

Speaking amusedly to Geijon, Nairena says, "Mr Gutsy went splat."

Speaking to Guarrin, Evia says, "Go ahead."

Nairena says, "Like a little dwarf grape."

Elidal asks, "What does your loss of freedom look like to you?"

Speaking to Evia, Guarrin says, "The council found her voice."

The voice of Dendum says, "Cleared foilage."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "Like an outside power claiming the land my people have lived on for decades."

Elidal asks, "Your people?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Archious.

Speaking in Faendryl to Xylador, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd informs, "The Dhe'nar of the Obsidian Tower."

Speaking in Faendryl, Xylador says something you don't understand.

Elidal asks, "Land built on the backs of slaves?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Archious.

Speaking annoyedly to Elidal, Archious asks, "Have you really done so little research on your new territory?"

Speaking in Faendryl to Lylia, Xylador says something you don't understand.

Lunatick's eyes tear up as he swallows, the look on his face depicting utter disgust.

Lunatick cries out softly and doubles over in obvious pain, clutching at his stomach.

Lunatick suddenly clamps his mouth shut and covers it with his hand. It looks as if he is about to become violently ill! Better take a step back.

Lunatick asks, "What?"

Irval says, "Slaves? And how I wonder was the empire built."

Speaking to Lunatick, Yardie asks, "Hey. Hey....you okay?"

Lunatick suddenly emits an enormous belch, which brings with it a foul-smelling vaporous worm that writhes in the air for several moments before dissolving away.

Lunatick says, "Well."

Speaking coldly to Elidal, Archious says, "Our methods do not require your approval. We are here, and your claim encompasses our territory."

Lunatick says, "No."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "Territory we will not abandon."

Lunatick says, "This phlegm isn't very tasty."

Speaking to Irval, Ulfwine says, ""I saw no slaves in Hendor."

Lunatick says, "Surprisingly."

Elidal says, "Likewise, our methods do not require your approval. We are here."

Elidal nods at Archious.

Elidal says, "I am sure we will not bother you."

Evia says, "I should think an apt reply would be simply....likewise."

Elidal nods at Thrassus.

Irval says, "The edict was pretty much slavery..."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "We will brook no interference from you. In even the smallest degree."

Speaking to Irval, Yardie says, "Among other things...glad it has been rescinded."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Doh."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "And we have noted that the only requirement to claim this territory is a desire to do so and the ability to secure it."

Elidal asks, "What then, of lost freedoms?"

Speaking to Irval, Ulfwine says, ""I concede your point on that. It was misguided, ill-informed, and has been rectified."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse rattles off, "Based on the other evening and speaking to our denizens: Losing our governmental structure. Citizens businesses' competing with Imperial ones. Resources being used up."

Elidal asks, "Are there any other opinions on what that looks like?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me rum be ripe...."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "Sharath is not without its own forces. Perhaps we should review the status of your southern border."

[General] Beansie asks, "Does anyone know what part of the trollfang one can find some cactus blossom?"

Speaking to Elidal, Geijon says, "I had asked where you plan to settle your people, what construction needs to be done, but it can wait for more pressing questions."

Elidal grins at Archious.

Speaking to Elidal, Dendum repeats, ""Lost Foilage Human."

Lunatick says, "Loss of freedom? Havin' to answer or explain ourselves to the not us's out there."

Speaking to Geijon, Evia says, "Excellent question."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "They do not want change for the worse. They want assurances they will not lose their jobs, families or home."

Lunatick says, "Limited movement in the lands we have been traveling for years."

Elidal asks, "We have no desire to alter your political structure. Your merchant lords have done enough of that themselves, have they not?"

Lunatick says, "Taxes."

Lylia says, "Loss of freedom? Constant oversight. One of the chief benefits of the Landing has always been its proximity to Imperial lands without being entirely of the Empire itself. Or, for that matter, of any empire."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "You kin take Amos."

Nairena says, "They really have."

Cryheart asks, "Hae nae the orcs, krols and Illoke even, burned this area?"

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "I believe many of the concerns that came up, influencing or controlling of the towns government, restriction on trade and business, destruction of the surounding areas, or limit of free use to areas folks of the town have used for a long time, even lived on for some. That all of these we can probably hash out some official agreements in some negotiations to address."

Speaking to Cryheart, Ulfwine says, ""I think they may have done just that."

Lunatick says, "Hey that's a good list."

Elidal says, "Competition is healthy. But there is always room for cooperation. I hope to see far more of the latter with our people. A Barony does not grow overnight. It will take time. Years. The people of Wehnimer's Landing stand to prosper during that time. We will need your wood, your trade, your skilled workers, your experts, your eyes, your wisdom and knowledge of the area and its dangers."

Lunatick says, "Our bodies, our pain, our suffering, our stuff."

Lunatick says, "Funny that you acknowledge all that stuff is already ours."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "I'll also not bore anyone with potential ideas for what the Landing might provide in exchange, and we'll of course want to have our Mayor involved, but I'm sure we can think of some things from both sides and that cooperation would be the most... prosperous course of action that we could come to."

Archious loudly says, "Didn't you hear him? You can claim whatever you can take. It's the Imperial way."

Kelfyr says, "Cooperation at the point of a knife."

Speaking to Lunatick, Geijon says, "We are lucky to wake up every day."

Speaking to Elidal, Lylia asks, "May I ask a question of you in turn? Why do you think it has been some time coming, this new attention to the northern frontier?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me cal dib on Lylia, den."

Irval says, "He wants the baystone."

Speaking to Kelfyr, Vaemyr says, "Noone's pointing an knife at us."

Elidal says, "Resources? There is an abundance for all of us. Lady Aronia will join me soon, helping to oversee our expansion in that regard. She is among the Green Sisters, and she saw the devastation of her home in Talador. She has no desire to see more land ruined. We will be wise in our growth and consumption."

Irval says, "Or the emperor does."

Lylia says, "I am not to be called as 'dibs.'."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "To me, loss of freedom may be likened to a loss of spirit. Things have changed in the Landing for a long time, but it's always felt like the frontier town that it is. I don't wish for it to lose that spirit. I do not wish for us to be... hmm... 'fully tamed', if that makes sense."

Kelfyr says, "That border is a knife at the throat of the town."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "I would like to suggest some individuals within the town to help her with that."

Kayse surreptitiously glances between Tikba and Perigourd.

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "Sorry if mine sounds a bit more esoteric than the others."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Sunwu says, "Th' Imperials can't hold th' region without th' Landin's port. Too much danger bringin' supplies overland constantly."

Sunwu says, "Th' other night proved that."

Elidal nods at Kayse.

Speaking to Kayse, Lylia says, "I hope this is precisely what was meant in talking of the Landing's wisdom and knowledge of the region. Indeed."

Speaking to Sunwu, Geijon says, "If true, perhaps free information isn't a good barter."

Speaking to Sunwu, Yardie says, "There's already a ship here, today."

Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "You need to understand this manling. It is not us who need to answer to you. But you to us. Explain to us why we should capitulate to the emperors demands instead of just spouting off saying there's more than enough for everyone..."

Speaking to Sunwu, Thrassus says, "Think of the docking fees the town can collect then."

Elidal says, "Of course. We will lean heavy into cooperation, and joint efforts. I hope on both of our sides."

Elidal asks, "What do you mean Lylia?"

Kelfyr says, "Eventually, it can't not be taken. There's too much danger in not controlling the port."

Elidal peers quizzically at Lylia.

Elidal asks, "Why now?"

Speaking to Yardie, Sunwu says, "Exactly. They'll have to secure th' port and th' sea lanes."

Speaking to Sunwu, Vaemyr says, "It would certainly be a difficult situation without our assistence as they are in such an early state."

Lunatick asks, "Now, i'm not cartographer, but why here and not the secluded valley?"

Kelfyr says, "This is the way of Empires."

Elidal asks, "Manling?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Irval.

Speaking to Sunwu, Yardie says, "Easy to do when they can waltz in."

Lunatick asks, "Wouldn't that make a better place to start your path north?"

Speaking drunkenly to Lylia, Gutstorm slurs, "Well, in all fairnesh, me not good at arm wrasslin, sho dib shound better fer me."

Tikba asks, "Do you intend to build a new Imperial port?"

Irval nods at Elidal.

Speaking to Yardie, Sunwu says, "They didn't really waltz, eh? All sortsa deception an' such. An' the caravan was attacked strongly."

Speaking to Elidal, Geijon asks, "A lot of your designated lands are areas of issue we've not solved in decades, if not a generation. What plans to safety of your settlers do you have?"

Elidal asks, "You were once entrusted with the task of being a logical voice in metting out justice for the town during a trial?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Irval.

Mourdeyan softly says, "Do not think than anna or all of the folk in dissent, speak for all of us."

Speaking to Elidal, Lylia asks, "Yes, we have had a stable sort of...arrangement as a protectorate on land that has been in a less than settled state. What caused the decision to settle these matters of borders and jurisdictions?"

Elidal says, "I would caution respect, and you will gain it in return. Until then..."

Elidal looks over at Irval and shakes his head.

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "A trial that didn't take place."

Sunwu says, "Supplyin' this barony will require an established port."

Sunwu says, "Th' one near here, specifically."

Speaking to Elidal, Lylia murmurs, "Every village needs its idiots."

Vaemyr says, "Wait I don't see Pukk."

Lylia says, "Pukk is a trickster. Very different from an idiot."

Elidal smirks at Lylia.

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Shhhh."

Speaking to Yardie, Sunwu says, "They'll have to bring it by sea. That means they need th' port."

Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "Im sorry, i guess the fact that Ive been under siege the past few nights has gotten my manners in a tizzy..."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara says, "Pukk's a genius beyond your reckoning."

Speaking to Lylia, Pukk exclaims, "Thank you!"

Speaking to Sunwu, Yardie says, "Ther's a ship. Here. Arrived this evening at port in the Landing."

Guarrin asks, "Siege?"

Elidal says, "The loss of Talador spurred things forward I believe."

Elidal nods at Lylia.

Xorus asks, "More to the point. Where will the capital of the barony be established?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Well, I wouldn't go that far..."

Irval says, "Siege assault. Pick one."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "That's the genious Pukk, not the idiot one, they are two completely different folks, just look alike sometimes."

Speaking amiably to Pukk, Leafiara says, "I know. Because you're too smart for that."

Pukk adopts an agreeable expression.

Guarrin says, "Skirmish. At best."

Speaking to Yardie, Sunwu asks, "I got eyes. What happens when folk in th' town decide they don' like Imperial ships? Think they'll jus' go on to another port?"

Evia says, "My word, a practical question."

Elidal says, "The Empire lost a lot of land, resources, and people. Many who survived still hadn't fully settled. The north and northwest provided a new promising and productive mark in the history of the Empire. Growth."

Speaking to Elidal, Thrassus asks, "It showed the need for some order in the area, yes?"

Elidal nods at Lylia.

Lylia nods at Elidal.

Mourdeyan softly says, "Nor is this brannew slate of governance doin much t'waylay the concerns of the folk, or censure them what do naught but stir trouble and tha ashes of ol fires."

Elidal says, "It was also purposeful in some of the landmarks the new Barony now claims."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse inquires, "Are any of the borders negotiable?"

Kelfyr asks, "Helt is awfully close to Talador. Why could not its people be settled in your homeland?"

Speaking to Sunwu, Yardie says, "Interesting fellow. Captain...Bodohal or something of that sort."

Elidal says, "No."

Elidal looks over at Kayse and shakes his head.

Mourdeyan softly says, "Butr they are verra new in their terms, an as yet only try is by fire."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "Know that your...assurances of non-interference is woefully inadequate. Claiming our land without a word will not be left to rest on your promises."

Protection of the Settlers

Elidal asks, "Who asked about the settlers?"

Elidal asks, "Was that you Sir Geijon?"

Geijon says, "I had, aye."

Speaking dryly to Yardie, Leafiara says, "Yes, interesting. Rambling interchangeably about deserters and fish while confusing his own words for others' words, he made Pylasar seem coherent by comparison."

Lunatick says, "I guess i'm still not sure why your empire has to stop right outside OUR gates. Seaward access you already have. and Landwise, it just seems like there'd be better places."

Evia says, "Negotiable, we have already declined to expand our own town walls outward, now we fret about a border."

Speaking to Elidal, Geijon says, "We'd want to account for them."

Elidal says, "Assurances are best earned with actions, not words."

Elidal nods at Archious.

Elidal says, "You may not trust me today, but you will tomorrow."

Speaking to Leafiara, Yardie says, "And yet no one is mentioning it. He mentioned the deserter by name, asked about the tunnels."

Speaking to Evia, Kayse says, "I asked for two reasons. The Obsidian Tower and the Reach."

Irval whispers to the group, "They want the baystone mines no doubt."

Kayse whispers to the group, "...Those aren't even within the borders?"

Vaemyr whispers to the group, "If they did they'd of claimed them..."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin asks, "Going back to an earlier question. What will be done to aid the defense of the town while you and yours settle into the area?"

Thrassus whispers to the group, "That is outside the borders, yes."

Kiyna whispers to the group, "Those are on the other side of the Locksmehr."

Speaking sourly to Elidal, Archious says, "I have lived long enough and met enough pakra'a to know better."

Elidal says, "We will need your assistance, by this week's end actually. In helping ensure the safety of the settlers, the first caravans that is."

Elidal nods at Geijon.

Pukk whispers to the group, "All of you are silly thinking borders will stop the imps."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Caravan'sh a decoy."

Speaking to Elidal, Evia asks, "My pardons if this has already been addressed, but have your cartographers compiled a border map you may share with us all?"

Kelfyr asks, "Are these people settling here by choice?"

Elidal says, "I, and just a few, came before. I would not send my people before I came myself."

Speaking to Elidal, Geijon says, "Innocents will be cared for."

Elidal nods at Kelfyr.

Elidal nods at Evia.

Speaking to Dendum, Yardie says, "I mentioned it. Not sure if it resonates."

Elidal says, "I will see it shared, yes."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin asks, "Is there someplace for them to safely settle?"

Evia says, "Many thanks."

Kelfyr says, "I'd be curious their own thoughts on this, once they arrive."

Elidal says, "I will reveal all of that information before the week's end. We'll establish a camp in the Dragonsclaw."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Kelfyr says, "Especially if their journey is as troublesome as your last wagonload."

Elidal says, "Not far from here."

Guarrin nods firmly at Elidal.

Tikba asks, "Are you not planning to stay in the outpost?"

Leafiara asks, "The outpost isn't large enough, then?"

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "May you address how you will handle Gnul?"

Speaking to Elidal, Yardie asks, "And the crew of the Shiver? Will they remain in town?"

Elidal says, "I will be, yes."

Elidal nods at Tikba.

Archious demands, "You had best keep your settlers away from my Tower. The guards do not take kindly to wanderers."

Pukk whispers to the group, "What they will do is send all of their problems to us. Overrun us and then step in and take over in order to protect us. For our own good."

Elidal says, "But two hundred or more settlers?"

Elidal chuckles.

Avalera asks, "I'm curious. Will our guild master, Rhetger, continue to send people out on odd jobs in areas you've claimed, and if so, who is going to cover those fees?"

Elidal says, "No."

Elidal asks, "Unless Magister Raelee would like to house them?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Raelee.

Elidal smirks.

Raelee says, "... no."

Roelon whispers something to Randsford.

Elidal says, "I am sure this Rhetger will."

Speaking to Raelee, Perigourd says, "You have that sage."

Elidal nods at Avalera.

Randsford whispers something to Roelon.

Speaking to Perigourd, Raelee repeats, "No."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "I would advise sending plans to Mayor Thadston, he has a good eye for strategy, and would be helpful if we want to coordinate together."

Irval whispers to the group, "This is classic imperial strategy. Give us something we want, then garner good will, send friendly face, take everything back in the form of annexation."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "For defending your settlers that is."

Elidal says, "There are countless dangers and monsters in the some of the area we are claiming. We do not intend to build walls and homes in every inch of the Barony. Not yet."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Archious asks, "Has the Council of the Landing decided to cooperate so completely?"

Perigourd whispers to the group, "Yes, all of us imperials live for nothing but to sneak thief you out of everything you have because we want it so much."

Guarrin whispers to the group, "You do realize that you are standing next to those in an imperial order that have been serving this town for thirty years, yes?"

Elidal nods at Vaemyr.

Elidal says, "I hope to meet with your Mayor often, yes."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna asks, "I will restate Kayse's question, as it is rather relevant. Do you have plans to address Gnul?"

Elidal says, "The Earl spoke kindly of him. Even more than he does of me."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kayse asks, "Perhaps they should offer their forces first in defending our town against the Illoke and Gnul before we keep giving them manpower to defend their own?"

Elidal says, "That I can respect."

Elidal asks, "Our forces?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Kayse.

Tikba says, "Indeed, Gnul is your first rebellious subject."

Elidal says, "No army accompanied me."

Evia says, "The Earl has a spirit of grace."

Irval whispers to the group, "And that means? point proven?"

[General] Ouidanna thinks, "Rex is here."

Leafiara asks, "Is your army not coming?"

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "There were plenty of soliders defending the outpost last night. Our own militia even ran to help."

Elidal says, "That will come with time. We'll grow, as soldiers settle here and are recruited. Perhaps even from your own town if they wish."

Speaking to Elidal, Dendum reminds, ""There is imperial warship parked in harbor."

Lylia whispers to the group, "If they had wanted annexation alone, it could have happened half a century ago. Or more. It is why I asked what I did: Why now, and why this area? He gave an answer, and now we shall learn more about the truth of it as the weeks unfold before us."

Thrassus says, "The Hendorans and Bourthians assisted us last night as they have for years now."

Speaking to Elidal, Yardie says, "The Shiver. The Crew is already in town."

Elidal says, "The army is coming. Our commander has been chosen."

Elidal nods at Leafiara.

Archious asks, "Ah yes, and who could forget Jantalar's assistance in years past as well?"

Leafiara nods at Elidal.

Mourdeyan softly says, "Thankya Kayse."

Elidal says, "But again, nothing is born over night."

Archious wryly says, "What was that Baron's name? He was most helpful."

Tikba asks, "Who will it be?"

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd asks, "Who was chosen?"

Speaking curiously to Elidal, Guarrin asks, "Who is the Commander?"

Leafiara says, "Then maybe you should take it slower."

Speaking to Dendum, Yardie asks, "He said cavalry, no?"

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr asks, "Oh, can you share whom?"

Irval whispers to the group, "Im telling you. Its baystone. its the only thing right now that makes sense. They want a piece of the pie?"

Elidal says, "His name is Sablo. Commander Sablo now, I suppose."

Pukk whispers to the group, "What will the Gryphons do if it comes down to a fight? Will you fight with Landing or stay with the imperial order?"

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd asks, "Might we know some of his qualifications?"

Kayse whispers something to Kiyna.

Elidal says, "He can smash things."

Elidal begins chuckling at Perigourd!

Elidal says, "I jest."

Perigourd says, "Ah."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "I understand you don't have an army to unleash. How about you offer us your brother's services? He is a powerful Magister, and could be a great asset to taking down Gnul, who is a great danger to your own settlers as well."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "Smashing is in his favor, I'm sure."

Tikba says, "A mayoral qualification, certainly."

Mourdeyan whispers to the group, "The order as Sir Guarrin just said, has been defendi this town long afore most of ye here were here."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia notes something you don't understand.

Kayse mentions, "Gnul said he would keep coming and this is based upon the decision of the barony to be established in this area. Our town is paying the price for this decision with no reinforcements."

Elidal says, "He is a member of Mensyl's Marauders, out of Hendor."

Geijon whispers to the group, "We are an Imperial Order sworn to protect the Landing."

Mourdeyan whispers to the group, "Wi'out havin our loyalty abused by the very ones we defend."

Cryheart whispers to the group, "You forget what the Order did when Jantalar and Talador invaded the Landing."

Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine says, ""A fine fighting force, that."

Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna asks, "What do you make of my proposal just now?"

Kelfyr asks, "What recompense is being set aside to pay the surviving families of the settlers?"

Tikba says, "It is good to know he has experience."

Lunatick whispers to the group, "Doesn't seem like an unfair question though. When your loyalties are put to the test will ya'll choose the Landing or the Empire?"

Elidal says, "His nickname, I am told, was Monster for sometime. Given the ferocity and savagery in which he hunted them under Hendor's banners. But he also spent years channeling that into hunting Blameless after Chaston's fall."

Tikba whispers to the group, "They were. They chose the Empire."

Evia whispers to the group, "Asked, and answered at least twice."

Tikba whispers to the group, "The Landing."

Elidal says, "He will be invaluable for the wild and ruthless creatures who lurk in our new lands."

Lylia asks, "Hunting Blameless, you say?"

Vaemyr says, "Seems like quite the feirce fighter."

Tikba whispers to the group, "I am sorry. My mind was elswhere. They chose the Landing."

Speaking to Kiyna, Kayse says, "At this point anything is worth a shot, but I am unsure of a weakness for them."

Elidal nods at Lylia.

Lylia says, "Well, good for him. They should be put down like the foaming dogs they were."

Speaking to Lylia, Yardie says, "They still have not answered for that attack the day after the rescinding."

Goldstr exclaims, "Any fiter a da Blameless be a friend a mine!"

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "In the spirit of enabling future dialogue, I propose that you agree to keep any of your people, soldiers, settlers, and especially Magisters, away from the area around the Tower."

Ulfwine says, "The Marauders are much like the Guardians of Sunfist. They keep our Northern borders safe. It is a high recommendation for the new Barony commander."

Archious continues, "And we will agree to refrain from doing anything irreversable until we have had time to speak more fully."

Lylia says, "No, they have not."

Elidal says, "My brother is not, easily loaned, so to speak."

Elidal begins chuckling at Kiyna!

Archious adds, "It would be a shame if some unexpected violence closed the door to a possible understanding."

Lunatick whispers to the group, "Oh, I wasn't askin'. just reaskin' the quetion in another way. I don't care either way. Not like I could stop any of you."

A Matter of Time

Elidal says, "Gnul is not your problem."

Geijon whispers to the group, "Our loyalties are not the tough question folks pretzel roll themselves into to explain us."

Elidal says, "It's all of our problem, together."

Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "Yes, we noticed his hand..."

Elidal says, "We'll face it together."

Elidal nods.

Pukk whispers to the group, "Then Guarrin reminding us that they are an Imperial Order is not needed. They choose Landing so they are Landing."

Speaking evenly to Elidal, Kayse says, "Then I expect to see that."

Speaking quietly to himself, Archious says, "The Highlady will not approve.."

Kelfyr says, "I don't know that he'd be our problem, were you not his."

Elidal smirks at Kayse.

Kayse eyes Elidal with a stern expression, her dark sclera reduced to mere slits.

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "Right... these are nice words, but they're just words. They come in waves, and far swifter than promises of an army."

Leafiara amiably says, "Seems promising."

Mourdeyan whispers to the group, "Why must it be either or? why can we not defend the landin and those we give fealty?"

Elidal nods at Ulfwine.

Vaemyr whispers something to Elidal.

Elidal asks, "You are from Hendor?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Ulfwine.

Lylia whispers to the group, "Indeed. The sensible thing is to ensure there is no conflict of interest there, and then the point is no longer one of contention."

Pukk whispers to the group, "You cannot sit on the fence if a time comes that we must fight the imps."

Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine says, ""Yes, m'lord."

Tikba says, "I would very much like to see your brother help us against Gnul. I think he might make an impression. They have some things in common."

Lunatick whispers to the group, "Guess if the Empire attacks the landin', you aren't going to be able to chose both."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "We would be happy to discuss regional defenses with the Commander on his arrival."

Elidal nods.

Kelfyr asks, "Has consideration been paid to where the creatures that live in these hills and mountains will be driven? Has the town of Icemule Trace been consulted on the influx of danger these actions will drive their way?"

'Elidal says, "Of course."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Speaking to Kelfyr, Lylia says, "Also a very good question."

Mourdeyan whispers to the group, "Oh but we have fought on again seemingly impossible, and here we stand once again."

Speaking to Kelfyr, Kiyna says, "My understanding is the Trace's own council has plans to speak with us. We'll discuss the matter, then."

Elidal says, "Icemule Trace has not been consulted, or alerted. A fine idea though."

Elidal nods at Kayse.

Elidal asks, "Will these lands ever be purged of every last monster?"

Elidal says, "No."

Elidal says, "Not in my lifetime, likely."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "You may also wish to send an envoy of peace to the Reivers of Luinne Bheinn. Their folk are stout and have aided in the area before. They are also concerned about an imperial presence."

Lunatick asks, "Not to mention, we utilize these forests and the surrounding areas to feed the Landin'. What happens when the Empire moves in a overhunts the area to feed it's influx of people?"

Lylia dryly remarks, "We cannot even seem to agree on what constitutes a 'monster.'."

Evia says, "Not every monster or threat even dwells beyond our own walls."

Elidal says, "But can we create a more peaceful region? Build homes, and docks, and a life for our people? And slowly beat back the wilds with the rise of a new frontier? Absolutely. But again, time."

Lylia says, "Ask people how they feel about kobolds..."

Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine says, ""Neither is the empire, m'Lord. It is the way of things in our world."

Elidal nods at Perigourd.

Elidal says, "Reivers. Check."

Nairena says, "Just imagine how those monsters view us."

Speaking steadily to Elidal, Kayse says, "We do not have much time to deal with Gnul. His forces are quickly destroying the town."

Speaking to Nairena, Lylia says, "With great fear, I hope."

Kelfyr says, "A town with walls and gates and guards and towers."

Raelee says, "... I think the threat to Icemule Trace is overstated."

Pukk says, "Isn't that what all invaders say? We come in peace, right before they take over."

Kelfyr says, "I wonder what he'll do against a sparsely built settlement."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "He's managed to rally many factions in the nearby area that ordinarily do not cooperate."

Leafiara affably says, "That's for Icemule to decide."

Speaking to Lylia, Nairena says, "One can hope."

Speaking to Pukk, Ulfwine says, ""No, some just say they are coming to take over."

Elidal asks, "I missed a question of yours, I believe?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Archious.

Elidal nods at Kiyna.

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "It was ill-timed."

Mourdeyan softly says, "So which is it ye wish, for them t'come IN to our town an save the day? or stay outside wi'no protection."

Tikba says, "Your brother mentioned that the illusionary ploy was not meant to distract the fighters of the Landing, or the trolls, or Gnul. It was meant to distract the Brotherhood of the Rooks."

Speaking to Kiyna, Geijon says, "Their assault didn't seem to sustain well or impact th' city substantially, in comparison to past battles."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "Eii, I propose a temporary agreement between you and us."

Elidal says, "There are a lot of voices."

Elidal nods at Archious.

Raelee says, "Briarmoon Cove can be reached at roughly the same distance if one moves along the coast. Bloodriven Village is closer than Icemule and far less frigid. The edges of the bleaklands are closer than all three."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia murmurs something you don't understand.

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "Keep your people away from my Tower, and we will keep ours in our existing holding."

Elidal says, "I cannot strike any agreements this night. But I welcome future discussions."

Elidal nods at Archious.

Raelee says, "Overflow towards Icemule Trace is possible, but not guaranteed."

Speaking in Faendryl, Xylador says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "This will prevent unexpected violence from making future discussion impossible."

Elidal asks, "I don't expect violence. Do you?"

Speaking in Faendryl, Yardie stammers something you don't understand.

Elidal peers quizzically at Archious.

Speaking in Faendryl, Thrassus says something you don't understand.

Lunatick says, "Always."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "If your soldiers or settlers come near my Tower, yes."

Speaking to Geijon, Kiyna says, "Perhaps not, but the little bits we lose at the edges are unacceptable losses, all."

Elidal smirks.

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Also, don't underestimate Darkstone Castle or the Reach, all we need is you or your brother turning into another lich king, or possessed by some ancient outside spirit, or go on about becoming a new god."

Elidal says, "And here you were worried about freedom."

Speaking in Faendryl to Lylia, Xylador says something you don't understand.

Elidal smirks at Archious.

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "But we can prevent that, at least in the immediate term."

Mourdeyan softly says, "If so I wanna watch."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara reminds, "Hey, you like Barnom's cookies almost as much as I do."

Elidal begins chuckling at Vaemyr!

Lunatick says, "How can you live in the Landin' and not learn to always expect violence? Hope there isn't, but expect it."

Archious says, "Perhaps that will create the space and time needed for you to make good on your assurances with action."

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Da firsht thing deez growd up turnip farmersh learnt ta do wash go out and kill da wildlife, knowin dish, alwaysh shpect violence."

Speaking neutrally to Elidal, Raelee says, "I have a question."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kelfyr says, "Or lost in the waterslides for all eternity."

Elidal says, "My brother is many things, but he is no fool. He won't underestimate it."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Lylia says, "In fairness, any of us could tap into some forbidden magics and become a dark god. Or goddess. I do not think that is unique to Imperial visitors."

Tikba says, "Surely the first thing was to farm turnips."

Elidal nods at Raelee.

Speaking evenly to Elidal, Raelee asks, "Why you?"

Speaking to Elidal, Goldstr says, "I know dis a new home fer da refugees a Ralador, now da Bleaklands, and I applaud it."

Speaking to Tikba, Lunatick says, "After comin' from the farm."

Goldstr says, "Rt Talador."

Speaking grimly to Sunwu, Archious says, "If we need to increase our patrols, you will oversee it."

Speaking to Lylia, Vaemyr says, "Sure, they could, but doesn't mean we can't warn folks ahead of time."

Lunatick says, "And after learning the Landing by running messages."

Elidal bows to Goldstr.

Goldstr turns toward Elidal and renders a sharp hand salute.

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Good to hear, although I think he should invest in one of these floating books to keep his notes, he's gonna run outta space on his body."

Speaking to Sunwu, Yardie quips, "Don't start a calamity, eh?"

Speaking flatly to Elidal, Archious says, "You did not answer me."

Elidal says, "I asked myself the same question."

Elidal nods at Raelee.

Lylia asks, "And who is this 'Monster' you spoke of, again? The one who hunted the Blameless?"

Speaking to Yardie, Sunwu says, "I follow my lord's instructions."

Speaking to Elidal, Raelee asks, "And your conclusion?"

Elidal says, "And asked the Earl, quite frankly, as well."

Speaking to Archious, Yardie repeats, "Don't start a calamity, eh?"

Sunwu says, "Th' guards aren't kind to those who wander near."

Speaking to Elidal, Raelee says, "... that was my follow-up question."

Speaking to Lylia, Perigourd says, "Commander Sablo."

Elidal says, "I won't bore you with my life story. Not tonight. Soon, perhaps. But not tonight."

Lylia suggests, "Commander...Sablo, yes. Thank you."

Evia says, "As if anyone wanted to wander near in the first place."

Kiyna says, "...I worry Gnul will sway the minotaurs. We haven't seen them in the attacks to date, but they are many and a force to be reckoned with."

Speaking to Yardie, Archious asks, "How am I to take encroachment on our land?"

Speaking to Kiyna, Yardie says, "I thought about that."

Speaking to Yardie, Archious asks, "How would you if your Spire were within the new territory?"

Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine says, ""I am sure the Earl made a good choice, m'Lord. He is a great man."

Speaking cautiously to Elidal, Kayse asks, "Can I get assurance someone will not be harmed?"

Elidal says, "I have known the Caulfields and the Earl for ages. They have seen my character, my decision making, the peaks of my life so far, and each pit as well."

Speaking to Kiyna, Lunatick says, "I'm doing my best to keep their numbers distrated."

Elidal says, "I was told I have the heart to serve our people, and the eternal patience to deal with yours."

Elidal chuckles.

Elidal says, "Something along those lines he said."

Speaking to Archious, Dendum remarks, ""It is well known how Faendryl deal with Turamzyrrian invasions....however a demon wall of the north serves no one."

Speaking honestly to Archious, Yardie says, "I like to think that wouldn't happen, but if it did, I'd have thoughts and feelings not dissimilar to yours. But I already have thoughts and feelings."

Tikba asks, "Did Baron Caulfield recommend you? Or recommend to you that you accept?"

Lylia suggests, "Commander Sablo could be very popular if it is widely known he fought the Blameless. They have an ill odor here as well. The camps are still fresh in many people's minds. By all means, make it known."

Evia says, "It will take a few extra dollops of that patience."

Mourdeyan softly says, "Indeed."

Lunatick says, "I mean, I can't argue that one would need patience to deal with everyone else here but not me..."

Elidal asks, "What was your question?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Archious.

Elidal asks, "Assurance for who Kayse?"

With barely concealed exasperation reserved for Elidal, Archious crosses his arms as he sighs wearily and rolls his eyes to the heavens.

Elidal says, "So many voices, I need a hundred ears."

Elidal says, "And half as many mouths."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse explains, "The barony claims Melgorehn's Reach, correct? There is someone there that is a Wehnimer's Landing citizen that should be left alone. This is not a deal, I want to know that he will not be disturbed or bothered or hurt."

Xorus says, "That would be rather monstrous."

Elidal nods at Lylia.

Speaking to Evia, Goldstr asks, "An ye kin help der farmers in growin Flax aye?"

Elidal says, "The Blameless are men turned monsters. They deserve to be removed. We all know this."

Elidal nods at Lylia.

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "I offer to keep my people near our Tower if you will keep yours away from it as well, at least in the immediate term."

Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna says, "A good point."

Elidal says, "I cannot strike any agreements this night."

Elidal nods at Kayse.

Speaking to Evia, Yardie says, "Part of the package. The loquacious nature."

Speaking to Sunwu, Archious says, "Then you will put our forces on alert."

Elidal says, "With the Obsidian Tower, or a councilor protecting a mountain boy."

(OOC) Lunatick's player whispers to the group, "Who's Kayse talkin' about? Sorry I'm outta the loop on that one."

Leafiara interjects, "It's not an easy agreement anyway, considering what Grand Magister Octaven said years ago."

(OOC) Perigourd's player whispers to the group, "Rodnay, I'd think."

Elidal says, "I am aware of Rodnay though. I've been studying."

(OOC) Lylia's player whispers to the group, "Yes, Rodnay."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "Then consider this topic to be readdressed."

Xorus says, "The mountain boy may be able to lift that whole mountain with his mind."

(OOC) Cryheart's player whispers to the group, "Aye."

(OOC) Lunatick's player whispers to the group, "Thanks."

Speaking coldly to Elidal, Archious says, "Then I advise you deliver a warning to any new arrivals to be very careful about where they tread."

Thrassus says, "Indeed, I do not think Rodnay is in any actual danger."

Elidal says, "I will ensure our scouts are mindful."

Elidal nods at Archious.

Speaking to Thrassus, Kayse says, "I saved him from the Hall once, I do not need to do it again."

Perigourd says, "I'd just like to point out that he's come here without guard, without van, in the open, and not asked for anyone to bend a knee."

Lylia says, "No, but neither would I particularly wish to rouse him from what passes for his slumber. Or his pupating. Whatever he is up to."

Archious flatly says, "And ours will be watchful."

Irval says, "I think the mayor needs to be consulted..."

Cryheart whispers something to Mourdeyan.

Evia says, "Certainly, with as many dung heaps that are about, they shall tread with utmost caution, I am sure."

Perigourd says, "That alone speaks volumes."

Speaking mildly to Perigourd, Tikba says, "Indeed, it is fortunate."

Goldstr exclaims, "Rodnay actually saved us at one time!"

Ulfwine says, "Yet some would see nothing but danger and conspiracy."

Lunatick asks, "Perhaps he's crazier than I am?"

Kelfyr asks, "Who would be asked to bend a knee from a free city?"

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "To Perigourd's point, I appreciate you coming out to speak with us, and evaluate our intentions."

Speaking to Perigourd, Dendum says, "'No guard? Half of Sol Haven is here to protect this human."

Leafiara says, "I can recall at least two times he saved us."

Speaking to Goldstr, Kayse agrees, "He saved us many times."

Speaking quietly to Kayse, Raelee mentions, "The Hall answers to the Royal Magister and via him, directly to the Sun Throne. We are not under baronial control."

Elidal grins at Kiyna.

Speaking to Perigourd, Yardie says, "But someone else arrived, tonight, with a crew in the meanttime. I'm sorry...I just have trust issues."

Speaking to Kayse, Thrassus says, "I would say he is rather able to take care of himself, seeing how monstrously powerful he is now."

Speaking to Kelfyr, Ulfwine asks, ""A conqueror perhaps?"

Evia asks, "Half eh?"

Elidal says, "A wise man listens more than he speaks. My father taught me that. He was horrible at it, but he knew it was the truth regardless."

Elidal nods at Kiyna.

Kiyna smiles at Elidal.

Speaking to Thrassus, Kayse responds, "True at the time he was weak after Talador still. I will still be cautious and protective though."

Evia says, "Didn't realize Solhaven was so small in population that half are here."

Lunatick says, "Dang...I don't think I'm wise..."

Mourdeyan softly says, "Tis the way of fathers, not all, many."

Leafiara snickers at Evia.

Archious asks, "Is he the one with the authority to make decisions?"

Archious asks, "When does he arrive?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Evia says, "And the other half are wisely having a buttered lobster dinner by a warm fire."

Elidal asks, "My father?"

Speaking to Evia, Leafiara muses, "Smart."

Elidal peers quizzically at Archious.

Lunatick says, "Kinda feel like the man has told you he can't forge an agreement with you tonight."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "Whoever actually makes the decisions for your ...barony."

Elidal says, "I do, and will."

Elidal nods at Archious.

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "I am hoping we can come to an arrangement that suits both our citizens and yours. There will be no shortage of obstacles complicating that, as you should well know if you've done your research."

Speaking in Faendryl, Xylador asks something you don't understand.

Archious says, "Ah, so it's that you *won't* do it, not that you can't."

Archious says, "An important distinction."

Elidal says, "Correct."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "I look forward to working on some more... concrete agreements in the future, as you said, actions will mean much more than words."

Archious says, "Very clarifying."

Lunatick says, "He said not tonight, not not ever."

Goldstr says, "I suggest, folks, we welcome our new neighbors and aide dem as we can."

Lunatick asks, "Or did I miss something?"

Elidal says, "I have those I trust. Good decisions are seldom made in the moment."

Elidal nods at Archious.

Speaking to Lunatick, Archious says, "You might not be willing to wait if it were the lands of your tribe he was claiming."

Tikba says, "Speaking of that research, again, I would like to know what you feared from the Brotherhood of the Rooks."

Speaking carefully to Elidal, Kayse recalls, "Your brother mentioned we have been being studied and observed. Why and how much?"

Nairena says, "Its kind of exciting seeing all these new visitors and potential citizens."

Speaking to Archious, Lunatick says, "Doesn't sound like you have a choice in the matter, friend."

Elidal asks, "Why would this area and its people not be studied?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Kayse.

Speaking to Kayse, Raelee says, "Why? They would be fools not to."

Speaking to Nairena, Irval exclaims, "And taxes!"

Speaking to Lunatick, Archious says, "There are always choices. I simply offered a way to prevent the worst one in the immediate term."

Speaking to Irval, Nairena says, "Yeah."

Elidal says, "It's been..."

Speaking wryly to Raelee, Kayse says, "Thank you, Baron."

Archious says, "But the Empire isn't interested in that kind of deal."

Geijon says, "Assessing capabilities, current trends. It makes sense."

Elidal asks, "Hmm. Over a year now?"

Speaking to Kayse, Guarrin says, "It would be Baroness."

Ulfwine says, "Or it's all an evil plot."

Elidal says, "My brother and I studied your maps, the history, the people."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "There's a museum as well, if you're interested."

Kayse casually says, "I was more interested in the how much than the why."

Elidal nods at Perigourd.

Speaking to Archious, Lunatick says, "I have no dog in this fight friend, just sayin' what I've heard."

Elidal says, "More than enough."

Elidal nods at Kayse.

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "Tikba had a question regarding the Rooks."

Elidal peers quizzically at Tikba.

Lunatick says, "We should just let Helga feed all the new comers her stew."

Tikba asks, "Your caravan ploy was meant to protect you from the Rooks, yes? What did you fear?"

Lunatick says, "As a sign of good faith."

Speaking to Lunatick, Ulfwine says, ""It's kept Quin alive all these years."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Ye know, it called soup, till she shtick her thumb in it, den it calt shtew."

Speaking to Lunatick, Nairena says, "Even Captain Sparkles wont touch that stuff."

Speaking to Tikba, Yardie says, "Would explain that one Rook who was watching from afar tonight when the Captain arrived."

Elidal says, "Their tactics in the name of freedom."

Elidal nods at Tikba.

Speaking to Tikba, Thrassus says, "Likely an attack on the caravan, which the Rooks have done many times in the past."

Tikba says, "The illusionary caravan is gone. But the Rooks are still here."

Mourdeyan softly says, "Death comes t'mind."

Tikba asks, "What do you intend to do next?"

Evia says, "And such things as using children as human shields."

Sunwu says, "They ain' gonna fall fer that trick now that they've seen it."

Speaking drunkenly to Irval, Gutstorm slurs, "Needa hand?"

Lylia says, "Anyone who has read recent histories of the Landing might have recalled the times the Rooks slaughtered the guards on the walls or used children to shield themselves from Thadston's wrath as well as the times they fought against the Blameless or the krolvin."

Elidal says, "I won't pretend to know the cure for your Rooks."

Elidal nods at Tikba.

Elidal says, "We'll need your help protecting the settlers when they arrive."

Lylia says, "They would be quite right to be cautious about the Rooks' intentions."

Tikba says, "Ah."

Elidal says, "You are wiser than us in recognizing the Rook's movements."

Leafiara amiably says, "Well, as long as you're not another Grishom Stone blood cult, you're probably safe."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin asks, "Do we know the number of settlers that are arriving?"

Speaking to Evia, Yardie asks, "That's....not reassuring. I take it you're the one that calls for action while he....talks?"

Kayse dismissively offers, "Perhaps no cure is needed."

Elidal says, "The first caravan brings just under a hundred."

Sunwu wryly asks, "Or th' number of soldiers comin' with 'em?"

Tikba says, "I understand your hopes."

Speaking to Elidal, Geijon asks, "Many are from Talador?"

Lunatick asks, "Is anyone else lost as to why the empire needs our help protecting people? If you think they're in danger, uh, just send more guards?"

Evia says, "Speaking of Stone, I would not be surprised to hear he is not especially pleased, but then again he is completely perverse."

Elidal says, "Some, yes."

Elidal nods at Geijon.

Speaking to Tikba, Raelee says, "I have taken a rook blade between the shoulders as I sat in a library and read, merely for being Imperial. Caution is necessary."

Speaking amiably to Lunatick, Leafiara says, "I'm enjoying the dodging of that question, peronally."

Speaking drunkenly to Evia, Gutstorm slurs, "Me like yoo, yoo got shashinish."

Kelfyr says, "It's not their travel I'd be concerned with as much as their continued existence."

Elidal says, "I'm sorry, I did not intend to dodge a question." [In a sense, he didn't--not directly. What Leafi was getting at is that it was there in the undercurrent of what she, Kayse, Kiyna, and possibly others were saying throughout the night about lack of reinforcements.]

Elidal asks, "What did I miss?"

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Anyways, I do still suggest sending your plans through Mayor Thadston for review before informing us if you wish help with your ariving citizens."

Speaking to Raelee, Lylia asks, "Oh, I am rather jealous; I only had a blade pressed to me but was not ultimately stabbed. Perhaps I seemed less of a threat?"

Speaking to Raelee, Kayse inquires, "How long ago was that?"

Lunatick asks, "Why didn't the empire send enough guards?"

Speaking to himself, Dendum muses, ""Yes Rook Paranoia that Turamzyrr was coming north was without warrant...."

Tikba clarifies, "If caution was necessary then, it is necessary now. That is my concern."

Lunatick asks, "For their people?"

Speaking to Lylia, Yardie mutters, "Far from it."

Tikba says, "One ruse will not defeat them."

Kelfyr asks, "Why would you need the free peoples of a border town to protect your citizens in their travels here?"

Lunatick asks, "Why expect US to throw our bodies in front of YOUR settlers?"

Elidal says, "There will be guards, we will have some. The caravan does not come completely unguarded. That's madness."

Speaking to Lylia, Kiyna reassures, "Worry not, you're extremely threatening."

Ulfwine says, "No one will have to do that if they choose not to."

Perigourd says, "I expect no one has to that doesn't wish to."

Kelfyr asks, "And if you don't have the power to protect their travel, how in the world do you expect them to settle long term?"

Elidal says, "But we know the forces outside of your town, and the threat they bring, and of your, your aid is welcome and likely necessary."

Thrassus says, "You don't have to answer the request for assistance if you don't want to. It's not a demand."

Speaking to Kayse, Raelee says, "It was my first meeting with them. Leadership has turned over several times since then. But, under other leaders I have also seen the Outpost attacked, my laboratory burned, thefts of plinite..."

Leafiara asks, "Yes, but to the greater overall point, how can you expect to settle this area without sufficient resources? Why do you rely on a smaller town such as this?"

Alosaka asks, "Is there another caravan coming?"

Kelfyr asks, "As a ruse or in earnest this time?"

Speaking to Kayse, Raelee says, "... I have never raised the first hand."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Caravan'sh a decoy."

Lunatick says, "But if you've been studying us and our area, and you know of the dangers, I'm still lost why you didn't send enough guards."

Elidal says, "I also find it ironic that, there are complaints of the illusionary wagons and not consulting you, in the same breath by asking why are we consulting you and asking for help."

Elidal chuckles.

Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine says, "'And asking for help is different from compelling, as some here would have it."

Speaking to Elidal, Dendum remarks, ""Starting with lies and illusions does lead to such confusing questions...yes."

Lylia asks, "At the risk of sounding like an Imperial apologist, something I have hilariously been accused of being...how would we have reacted if an entire Imperial army had arrived?"

Elidal says, "A river runs only one way. Pick a direction."

Elidal chuckles.

Kelfyr says, "You and your brother are a lot alike."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "I am fine for assistance as long as it's returned to us."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "Many rivers of opinion run through the Landing."

Speaking to Elidal, Leafiara says, "You were the one who claimed that my stating you proved you didn't need help was incorrect, so now the curious matter is why you do need help."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "You will come to know just how right they were when they said you would require patience dealing with ours."

Kayse mouths, "Gnul."

Elidal says, "We are, and we aren't."

Elidal says, "I have his face, if you were to ask him. But nothing more."

Elidal nods at Kelfyr.

Mourdeyan softly says, "Easier t'sit in tha mid stream an complain o'bein wet sir."

Leafiara says, "The Empire has a great deal of resources but hasn't spared enough for you, it seems."

Leafiara says, "I gave them more credit than that."

Kelfyr says, "Oh, I think a bit more than that."

Sunwu says, "Sounds precarious."

Speaking to Elidal, Evia asks, "One simple query, how fares the young lady Larsya, of whom we are fond?"

Elidal says, "Oh, I thought you meant our appearance."

Elidal begins chuckling at Kelfyr!

Lunatick says, "And the only thing I can come up with is that you plan on sacrificing Landingers to protect your settlers. Kinda makes it seem like we're just another resource."

Yardie whispers aloud, "It's easier to absolve blame when you invite the army into your walls."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "An Empire can never have enough resources so they go and take what they want from others."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "I mean, perhaps they didn't wish to come looking like a full invading force, as that would cause us to resist even harder, no winning here."

Speaking to Lunatick, Sunwu says, "Think you see it very clearly."

Elidal says, "There is truth in that."

Elidal nods at Vaemyr.

Speaking to Dendum, Yardie says, "Or perhaps come in little pieces."

Elidal asks, "Imagine if a thousand troops accompanied the settlers?"

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin asks, "To clarify an earlier statement. When you indicated to Sir Geijon you would need his aid with the caravan, were you making a request of the Order?"

Xorus says, "The krolvin warlord of Glaoveln will eventually be coming for the southern Upper Trollfang. It is a mission from god, in a manner of speaking."

Speaking to Dendum, Yardie says, "A ship here, another there."

Lunatick asks, "So, what if we just say 'No.'? and don't help the settlers?"

Elidal says, "If I wasn't, I am now."'

Kelfyr says, "I hope the Imperial coffers are being filled to pay the survivors of these settlers. From the sound of it, they are lambs being led to these woods. Unless they're all roltons at heart, it will be a difficult winter."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Speaking to Yardie, Dendum remarks, ""Sailors in the town."

Lunatick asks, "Let 'em die?"

Speaking to Dendum, Yardie says, "Rude sailors in the town."

Speaking to Elidal, Pukk says, "I would rather imagine that no imps had come at all. Settlers or soldiers."

Speaking to Yardie, Dendum remarks, ""Knights as spies?"

Speaking to Lunatick, Leafiara says, "Some are sworn to aid, but you don't need to be among them."

Elidal says, "Yet here we are."

Elidal nods at Pukk.

Lunatick says, "I mean the Landin' as a whole."

Kelfyr says, "Yep, a bit of your brother in you."

Speaking to Lunatick, Leafiara says, "They'll do it because they like bloodshed."

Speaking to Dendum, Yardie says, "Just visitors on leave, as they claim."

Lunatick says, "Close the gates and let 'em fend for themselves."

Elidal grins at Kelfyr.

Elidal says, "I was born first. By seconds, but first nonetheless. Never let him tell you otherwise."

Vaemyr says, "Had they brought more resources, we see them as conquerers, they come slowly to try and establish trust, we see them as "using" us, and blame them for misfortunes. I'll note many here supported making a deal with a Krolvin for the betterment of our town after he had lead numerous attacks that resulted in wide destruction to our town and harm to our citizens. Try to be less hypocrites people."

Elidal nods at Kelfyr.

Lunatick asks, "We don't want the Empire here, so why help 'em settle?"

Tikba says, "Perhaps the Landing as a whole could choose some people who help decide these things. Possibly there could be some sort of election."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Well clearly you got da looksh."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Dendum remarks, ""Will note Krolvin went away."

Lunatick says, "This isn't something that should be left up to the council alone."

Mourdeyan softly says, "Oh goody, nother election."

Lunatick says, "You wanna vote on the town's official puppy fine, but this is bigger than the couciil."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara says, "You know as well as anyone here that it's more complicated than that."

Lunatick says, "It is."

Closing Thoughts

Elidal asks, "Are there questions, or concerns I have missed?"

Lylia notes, "Some of the same people who wanted to deal with the krolvin are also amenable to Imperial conversation. The waters become so roiled and muddy when we all talk at once that it is hard to recall who hates whom."

Lunatick says, "The entire coucil is all new."

Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "Just one."

Lunatick says, "They aren't even moved into their offices."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Pukk says, "Brokering a peace so the krolvin will go away is different from accepting a quiet invasion in the name of settlers and peace."

Mourdeyan softly says, "Yours no doubt."

Speaking to Lunatick, Kiyna says, "You seem to be under the impression that we think ourselves monarchs. This is far bigger than our town council. These are imperial borders moving."

Speaking to Elidal, Yardie says, "A few, but I still wanted to know if you were aware of the Shiver's arrival."

Lunatick says, "Not in the least."

Xorus says, "The krolvin will be coming back. There was no question of that."

Speaking to Pukk, Vaemyr says, "A temporary peace, that will end in the future, and you all know it."

Nairena asks, "Shiver's arrival?"

Cryheart says, "The krolvin is an existing and perpetual problem."

Speaking to Pukk, Vaemyr says, "And when that comes we'd be good to have other allies to call upon."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Pukk says, "True, but a peace none the less. The only real peace is when we finally lay to rest."

Lunatick says, "I think you're little more than fair judges pretending to run things."

Elidal shrugs at Yardie.

Lunatick says, "And have little actual power."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Dendum remarks, ""Is problem with Krolvin that they did not line purse enough? Seem very eager to trade freedom for a few more silvers to shake around."

Speaking to Nairena, Yardie says, "A ship arrived this evening, with a crew. Captain Bodohal was his name. He wanted to enjoy the town while on leave."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Pukk says, "And the imps are not good allies to have."

Speaking to Nairena, Yardie says, "Asked a lot of questions about tunnels and the like. It was....peculiar."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd asks, "Will you be building your own port at some point or relying on the good will of the Landing to negotiate operations with them?"

Elidal says, "Bodohal? Sounds familiar, but not recalling quite."

Elidal shrugs.

Speaking to Lunatick, Kayse says, "I do not believe any of the councilors believe we have power or are 'pretending' to run things. But we are the voice of the people and are here to express those concerns."

Elidal nods at Perigourd.

Speaking politely to Elidal, Tikba says, "He is of the Bluewater Brigade. We met him earlier today. I am assured he will survive."

Nairena says, "I wouldnt worry."

Speaking to Pukk, Vaemyr says, "I guess Bourthe and Hendor and the Gryphons are really fooling everyone then..."

Elidal says, "Our own port in time, yes. I would imagine so."

Elidal nods at Perigourd.

Speaking to Elidal, Yardie says, "Bluewater Brigade out of Por Ta...Tam.....Tamzyrr I believe it's pronounced."

Nairena says, "Just some sailors needing to relax."

Speaking to Guarrin, Vaemyr says, "No offense."

Speaking to Kayse, Lunatick says, "And the Landin' has done find for decades without a council."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Guarrin says, "None taken."

Irval whispers to the group, "Did he ever answer Why now?"

Elidal gazes up into the heavens.

Lunatick says, "Wasn't here when the first came around."

Kiyna whispers to the group, "The loss of Talador spurred this on."

Elidal says, "The snow has stopped."

Speaking to Lunatick, Thrassus says, "They've had a council for decades."

Elidal says, "I suppose that's a herald for sleep soon."

Speaking to Perigourd, Raelee says, "If all else fails, there is also a port on the southern border of Darkstone too. Baron Malwind is likely to be... more cooperative."

Elidal says, "But I do not want to leave any question unanswered."

Speaking to Thrassus, Dendum remarks, ""Yes...of Slims, De Archons...and Stones....not great history that."

Mourdeyan softly asks, "That an ominus sign? or a blessin ye rekkon?"

Yardie says, "Sleep sounds good right now."

Alosaka says, "Spring is here already, wonderful."

Cryheart says, "Back to our warm fireplaces."

Speaking to Elidal, Evia says, "And the lady of the green rules the stars just now."

Elidal asks, "Of course, we will talk often, but, have I missed anyone?"

Kelfyr whispers to the group, "It sounds as if it's been in the offing for at least a year though, given the time they claim to have studied the area."

Speaking to Lunatick, Kayse says, "Um, there's been a council for years. Juramis himself sat on it years ago."

Lunatick asks, "One voted on by the people? from the Adventurers of the Landing?"

Speaking to Raelee, Guarrin says, "I am curious how that will work."

Lunatick says, "Anyway."

Speaking to Lunatick, Stormyrain says, "We've voted on Councilors throughout the years yes."

Speaking to Lunatick, Kiyna says, "...Yes. With a handful of exceptions here and there. The Mayorship is generally the same."

Speaking to Elidal, Goldstr says, "Was verra nice to chat wid ye Sir."

Speaking to Elidal, Raelee says, "... there are always questions unanswered. It is but one night."

Speaking to Elidal, Missoni says, "Thank you for sharing information as you are able."

Speaking to Guarrin, Raelee says, "Indeed."

Speaking to Cryheart, Evia says, "Some buttered toast and scrambled eggs sounds good."

Speaking to Elidal, Tikba says, "I appreciate your efforts to reassure us."

Elidal bows to Goldstr.

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "Rest well, Baron."

Mourdeyan softly says, "Thank ye for yer patience sir."

Elidal says, "I am no Baron yet."

Elidal says, "Lord will do. Or Eli."

Speaking to Elidal, Evia says, "We look forward to seeing you again soon."

Elidal says, "Formalities..."

Elidal waves his hand in a dismissive gesture.

Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine says, ""Thank you for your time, m'Lord."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Depooty baron, den."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "This much about you I find greatly refreshing."

Speaking smoothly to Elidal, Kayse wishes, "Fair evening, Eli."

Cryheart says, "Be well."

Lunatick says, "If you guys say so, but seems to me that the crowd, such as this one, is still the voice of the people."

Speaking to Elidal, Evia says, "Our regards to lady Larsya."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Stay safe, and enjoy the snow."

Tikba says, "You should have run on that platform."

Xorus says, "And yet 'Baron of Darkstone' will be the envy of all other such titles. The sound of it."

Nairena says, "Pleasant dreams, Elidal."

Geijon says, "Believe it's Potentate normally."

Elidal says, "Goodnight everyone. We'll speak again. I look forward to what we can do together."

Speaking to Elidal, Pukk says, "Hope you have a great trip back to the empire."

Lunatick says, "Fair winds."

Kelfyr says, "Tell the young lass you sent off into the woods hello for me."

Mourdeyan softly says, "G'night."

Lunatick says, "Good eve."

Lord Elidal just went southeast.
