Summary

 • Magister Cordarius arrives outside Moot Hall and here's here to meet with Grand Magister Octaven, whose falcon is circling. However, while everyone waits, he inquires with Ysharra about whether she's learned anything of the blight and says he and Magister Raelee would like to meet with her about their own thoughts. Cordarius confirms with Raelee that Octaven is coming with the second requested coffin.
 • As the crowd continues talking and Taloin offers Cordarius a calling card for business ventures, a patch of darkness detaches from the sky and seems to swallow Octaven's falcon up... and undead griffins attack! As the Landing defenders repel them, Cordarius says he'll go to check on Octaven.
 • As the town repels the griffins, shimmers of air signal the return of Brumas' dwarven forces and a temporal rift scatters defenders. More griffins swarm, though they and the dwarves battle each other too in a chaotic war. Hendoran and Bouthian soldiers join the fray from the Imperial outpost too!
 • Eventually Brumas stands outside North Gate, where fellow dwarf Berost attempts to talk sense into him. Various adventurers arrive and Brumas says they're in bed with the orcs and asks Berost to take arms with him as brother, saying they have to take the keep back and close the gateway to the endworld. In his delusions he sees the Hendoran knights as orcs, though others try to talk him down.
 • Pukk, Zosopage, and Leafiara attempt to take Brumas down with the Symbol of Sleep and other methods, though to ultimately no avail, and Xorus wins him over with an orc scalp. Brumas urges defeating the orc king, closing the gateway, and stopping the coming rot as others begin to suss out that he's talking about the portal to the Bleaklands. Though most in the crowd continue trying to talk him down, some like Chamorr and Pukk are alright with him killing off approaching Hendorans.
 • As Brumas insists that the orc king on his crystal throne is in the keep, he tells everyone that if they'll stand down, he'll leave their wooden-walled post alone. Berost and Xorus ask Brumas to show what he speaks of, so asks everyone to join him! Captain Shinann and Ysharra ask for him to call off his forces, so he gives a howl to identify who's with him.
 • The group marches toward the outpost, with Brumas still identifying Hendoran knights as orcs and attacking them despite the protests of Shinann, Sir Cryheart, Maags, Falvicar, and others. Ysharra attempts to take a more sly approach of suggesting saving their strength for the portal, though also to no avail as Brumas rambles about taking the gateway beyond a wall of runes according to his "priestess."
 • More knights charge and this time the group sees them as Brumas sees them, their forms shifting to appear as orcs as they get close. Leafi and Mayor Lylia try a different sly approach of suggesting hurrying to the target instead of wasting so much time on grunts that it'll be too late, though again to no avail.
 • Ysharra asks about the priestess' name and Brumas says she's "the Wanderer" with no name, "only wisdom." Berost later says she's the witch herself using Brumas' soul.
 • Shinann tries to reach out to Breshon over the amunet as Raelee asks Lylia if we're really going to march into the outpost and into the portal; she says no, but it would be helpful if she informed the troops to stay out of the way. Breshon responds to Shinann and Ysharra advises not to step outside and to keep Larsya well-guarded while Leafi suggests that there could be advantages for both sides if his troops stand down. Raelee explains that they want to march Brumas through the portal while Leafi explains it as a way to corner him. However, Breshon says they won't allow him passage. With that plan shot down, Leafi just kills Brumas with a Condemn spell, but that too is to no avail as he heals himself up and tosses her straight to TSC with a pillar of shadows.
 • Brumas at last shouts at the gates that he challenges the king--and out comes Thadston! He bashes his kroderine gauntlets together to send a blast of energy toward Brumas, though it also sends Thadston flying. Brumas seems stunned and the air around him reveals a view into the Bleaklands, where a withered dwarf twitches inside an underground cocoon. As he regains his senses, he interprets Thadston as an ogre with magic gauntlets and retreats to regroup.
 • The group heads inside to find Thadston spitting up blood and saying now he sees why Osment--from whom he'd gotten a gauntlet--was so crippled. Everyone fills him on what happened with Brumas' location being revealed and he confirms with Raelee that Octaven has the second coffin for him. Thadston says Disean's coming and won't come light next time.
 • Lylia asks if Disean still trusts Casiphia and Thadston at first says he worries what the witch might show him, but then says it gives him a great idea that he'll need to think on, as rage is a powerful motivator.
 • Thadston gives updates that tomorrow they'll try to locate the next paragon with Pylasar, though he doesn't know whether the one offering help will be Quinshon or Chrysamber--neither of whom he trusts, so he'll try to be there. Ysharra asks if he trusts Peter/Pylasar and Thadston says "far enough to bring us to Raznel's end but not end her," saying he might want to somehow repair or heal her. He says he won't hesitate to kill Peter if needed.

Snow Time Like The Present

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see some stone benches with some stuff on it and an herbal remedy donation bin.

Also here: Humielie, Lady Istafia, Annelie, Zosopage, Lady Rainedrop, Lord Elkiros, Lothylend, Lord Tilgen, Naylani, Giantphang, Aargren, Tsarok, Great Lord Torpe, Ensayn who is sitting, Rasson, Event Planner Leafiara, Fisher Beldannon, Guarrin, Pietra, Pukk, Bernadette, Lord Chamorr, Great Lord Kobane, Razanetika, Harfgaar, Sir Cryheart

A cold chill stirs through the area.

Pukk quietly says, "Aha."

Leafiara musingly says, "Gettin' cold, though. I think I need my fire gloves and shoes."

Pukk recites quietly:

"Everybody join Cryheart!"

Giantphang shows his woolen scarf to Leafiara.

Giantphang says, "Can borrow."

Speaking to Pukk, Pietra asks, "How long you've been waiting to say that?"

Speaking to Pukk, Zosopage asks, "How big of an itch was that?"

'The sky is filled with a blanket of low clouds, pale and unmoving. Sounds seem muffled and the air feels thick and takes on a quiet stillness.

Speaking quietly to Pietra, Pukk says, "All month."

Berost deeply says, "Damn cold."

Elphieya nervously asks, "Did anyone else just get a chill?"

Speaking musingly to Elphieya, Leafiara says, "Yep."

Speaking to Pukk, Zosopage says, "I bet that was a relief to scratch."

Berost deeply asks, "We gathering?"

Speaking to Cryheart, Pietra exclaims, "Glad you're still here and have such big shiny hands!"

Speaking quietly to Zosopage, Pukk says, "You have no idea."

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk says, "Told you I felt the storm coming."

Maylan: "Yarr."

Cryheart says, "Mayor is about."

Pietra: "Yarr indeed!"

Speaking quietly to Cryheart, Pukk asks, "So what are you saying? That because it is so cold that it is the mayor's fault for being so cold hearted?"

Pukk recites quietly:

"Everybody join Cryheart!"

Cryheart says, "I would never say that."

Pukk quietly says, "More people."

Pukk quietly says, "Like Maylan."

Pukk quietly says, "And Falvicar."

Maylan whines at Pukk!

Maylan joins Cryheart's group.

Speaking to Falvicar, Leafiara roars, "Join up!"

Falvicar joins Cryheart's group.

Speaking to Maylan, Lazaryth asks, "Maylan, can I get you anything?"

Leafiara removes a fluffy white pillow from in her instrument case.

Leafiara tightens her grip on the pillow and whips around in a fury of strikes! Falvicar is caught by surprise and lightly stunned!

Falvicar says to Leafiara, "You, madam, are a bootless, goblin-cavorting gnome-cruncher!"

Leafiara says to Falvicar, "You, sir, are a brazen brown-noser!"

Zosopage says, "Snow."

Speaking to Lazaryth, Maylan says, "Booze."

Zosopage grumbles.

Lazaryth glances at a circular ebonwood cart.

Zosopage says, "Well at least it isn't rain."

Shinann says, "I saw maggots on that cart."

Speaking to Maylan, Lazaryth says, "I'm getting it, I'm getting it."

Falvicar removes a silver sword-shaped pillow with a fringe of blood-red beads along one edge from in his spidersilk cape.

Lazaryth takes a few steps toward a circular ebonwood cart.

Lazaryth pours himself a mug of deep amber rum.

Falvicar tightens his grip on the pillow and swings wildly at Leafiara! A light tap on the shoulder is all he accomplishes.

Lazaryth offers Maylan a mug of deep amber rum.

Speaking surprisedly to Lazaryth, Maylan asks, "Wow! Where did you get this?"

Maylan accepts Lazaryth's deep amber rum.

Falvicar tightens his grip on the pillow and swings wildly at Leafiara! A light tap on the shoulder is all he accomplishes.

Maylan takes a drink from her deep amber rum.

Maylan looks rather relaxed.

Speaking coyly to Falvicar, Leafiara says, "Someone's out of practice."

Falvicar tightens his grip on the pillow and attempts to smack Leafiara! She easily deflects the attack.

Speaking to Maylan, Lazaryth asks, "Done already?"

Falvicar quietly says, "Oof."

Speaking to Lazaryth, Maylan says, "I had to share with my buddy."

Falvicar tightens his grip on the pillow and swings wildly at Leafiara! A light tap on the shoulder is all he accomplishes.

Falvicar quietly exclaims, "Stand still!"

Falvicar tightens his grip on the pillow and swings wildly at Leafiarra! A light tap on the shoulder is all he accomplishes.

Ralkau asks, "The mayor is about?"

Cryheart says, "Somewhere."

Speaking amusedly to Falvicar, Leafiara asks, "Snow got'cha down?"

Speaking heartily to Falvicar, Chamorr says, "Ya lost yer touch."

Falvicar tightens his grip on the pillow and spins around with a fierce growl, smacking Chamorr right in the head!

Speaking amusedly to Chamorr, Leafiara says, "Bigger target."

Cryheart says, "Ok...moving to outside of Moot Hall."

Falvicar tightens his grip on the pillow and spins around with a fierce growl, smacking Leafiara right in the head!

Sir Cryheart's group just went east.

[Town Square, East]

Here in the center of a broad plaza near the commercial area of the bazaar stands the impressive facade of the slate-roofed Moot Hall, where the citizens of Wehnimer's Landing hold various official, religious and social functions. Facing the square are some of the town's more prosperous shops, still doing business with the many customers who still frequent the streets at night. You also see a polished bleakstone statue, a bone-framed bulletin board and a large purple wooden barrel.

Also here: Lord Chamorr, Giantphang, Tsarok, Falvicar, Land Pirate Maylan, Lazaryth, Lord Lycurgus, Berost, Felita, Annahlee, Maiden Dezrae, Zosopage, Lady Rainedrop, Ensayn, Rasson, Event Planner Leafiara, Pietra, Pukk, Bernadette, Great Lord Kobane, Razanetika, Sir Cryheart, Shinann, Guarrin, Ysharra, Melikor, Lord Thrassus

Maylan drunkenly exclaims, "You don't know me!"

Chamorr heartily says, "If we all lean on the Hall, think we kin move it."

Cryheart says, "I think the mayor will be miffed a bit...when she sees the board."

Speaking thoughtfully to Chamorr, Leafiara says, "Only one way to find out."

The following messages are written on the bulletin board:

NOTICE: This board is intended for PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS pertaining to the town of Wehnimer's Landing. Feel free to post your messages regarding public gatherings and the like here, but make sure to keep them appropriate to public display.

When was the last time you punt a Gnome?

Gnomes can now be kicked with impunity.

In a shocking turn of events a coupe happened today involving a the Kitten Overlords that took legal ownership of the Landing for themselves. The group broke into Moot Hall as the town council was deliberating and gave an unspecificied threat before town officials relented and gave legal control over to the rogue kitten group. The leader of the kittens, one infamously known as the Sinister Mister Mittens was proclaimed the Kitten Overlord Emperor of the newly established Kitten Empire and all are legally forced to bow to his new found authority and pay tribute. The Wolf Pack has sounded high alarm and is organizing a counter attack to the boldest move yet made by the K.O.

Long live the new Kitten Overlord Emperor, the Sinister Mister Mittens, first of his name. Praise his name and submit to his will or may you suffer eternally! His first order of business was to rename the and start the official new year of the Dominion of the Kitten.

The kittens won, you can all celebrate or more than likely be enslaved and serve at their pleasure and mercy. Expect to serve your Kitten Overlord masters as thralls to be used in taking over other towns to reach their final goal of world domination(kidding, there will be more!).

The first order of the new Emperor is the construction of a 20 story tall Cat Tree Castle of Doom that can be seen from anywhere in town.

All hail the Kitten Overlord Emperor Mister Mittens!!! *shakes treat bag as tribute*

The Emperor Mister Mittens has demanded with seeing the statue here that statues twice as big on every corner be made of him, he has spoken!

Berost deeply says, "Snow."

Speaking to Melikor, Ysharra says, "Yes, I abandoned you."

Berost deeply says, "Need me thicker kilt ..."

Cryheart says, "And then some."

Maylan drunkenly says, "Yer all muck headed mucks."

Speaking to Maylan, Melikor says, "Well said."

Maylan drunkenly says, "I don't even have time for any muck heads."

Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "Am i wate?"

Speaking drunkenly to her drunken chinchilla, Maylan says, "Let's you and me go find a real party."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Hedoo kernel genrel."

Leafiara wistfully says, "Ahh, now this is the wild and lively place I missed.. as much fun as I had on the isle."

Ysharra says, "Mm. The snow is early, again. I'll try not to love it so much."

Speaking quietly to Razanetika, Kobane whispers aloud, "Is it time for reps now?"

Ysharra says, "Being so cold after the blight's ravages isn't a good sign...but it's certainly prettier than the dead grass."

Speaking to Ysharra, Eledryn says, "Falling as far out as the coasts travelled by the Glaesan Star."

Annahlee says, "And me without my greatcloak..."

Pukk quietly says, "I guess with all this snow, it will be time for snow and tell."

Chamorr heartily says, "Snow."

Zosopage says, "Ok that was one of your worst."

Gutstorm drunkenly asks, "Sho wotsh all da commoshun?"

Speaking quietly to Zosopage, Pukk says, "This weather is snow laughing matter."

Speaking to Pukk, Zosopage says, "Ok I stand corrected. That was the worst one."

Pukk quietly says, "Darn straight."

Speaking to Pukk, Eledryn says, "I think that joke fell a bit flat."

Glistening flakes of snow continue to drift down from the sky.

Pukk quietly exclaims, "Never!"

Zosopage says, "That joke melted before it hit the ground."

Kobane quietly exclaims, "Snowball fight!"

Speaking thoughtfully to Kobane, Leafiara says, "And me without my snowball satchel..."

Falvicar quietly says, "I smell bacon."

Falvicar sniffs at Maags.

Gutstorm drunkenly exclaims, "Puppy!"

Speaking to Razanetika, Eledryn says, "I shall always be fortunate that I managed to get this cloak improved. It certainly helps during snow."

Ensayn thoughtfully asks, "We need a fire. Where's Maylan?"

Speaking abruptly to Razanetika, Leafiara asks, "Have you seen the snowball satchel, come to think of it?"

Speaking softly to Eledryn, Razanetika says, "I wasn't so lucky."

Speaking to Razanetika, Eledryn says, "It did take two years."

Speaking softly to Eledryn, Razanetika says, "I completely forgot about my cloak."

Speaking heartily to Maags, Chamorr says, "It's snowin."

Speaking quietly to Eledryn, Kobane says, "Only took me two months for mine."

A Cord-ial Affair

Cordarius walks into view, brushing snow off of the shoulders of his robe.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Maags exclaims, "Cannot!"

Speaking amicably to Cordarius, Leafiara says, "Evenin' there."

Cordarius grins.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Maags says, "Thank yous tho."

Cordarius removes the hood of his robe, revealing his features.

Speaking heartily to Cordarius, Chamorr says, "Howdy."

Cordarius dusts off his ashen-hued robe.

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk exclaims, "Considering the weather, I should say....Ice to meet you!"

Maags says, "Was foraging and sanctuaries do not hold there."

Speaking drunkenly to Maags, Gutstorm says, "Id bow, but id prolly fall over."

Cordarius smirks at Pukk.

Cordarius says, "Well done."

Cordarius nods at Pukk.

Ralkau asks, "Who's he?"

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "Good evening, Cordarius."

Speaking curiously to Cordarius, Leafiara asks, "So you're still assigned here even though the tents were no longer needed?"

Speaking to Cryheart, Zosopage says, "I think we need to gag Pukk."

Cordarius asks, "They are no longer needed?"

Rainedrop quietly exclaims, "Snow angel!"

Speaking quietly to Zosopage, Pukk exclaims, "Never!"

Speaking to Cordarius, Leafiara corrects, "Err, the barriers, I mean."

Leafiara grins sheepishly.

Giantphang asks, "Not needs the tent because the haunted shopping is over?"

Goldstr says, "Roltons still be a pus."

Cordarius says, "I was going to say."

Cordarius chuckles.

Leafiara grins impishly at Cordarius.

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee asks, "Are you going to answer that, or should I?"

Ysharra asks, "I would imagine the research and symptom control are still going on, yes?"

Cordarius asks, "...and besides. Barriers are always needed in some way or another. What else will I find challenging?"

Cordarius chuckles.

Cordarius smirks.

Cordarius nods at Raelee.

Cordarius says, "Yes please Magister. You go ahead."

Cordarius leans against the Moot Hall.

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "Precisely."

Maags says, "Lots of challenges in this town."

Falvicar casually says, "Swordplay."

Cryheart says, "Greetings Magister Raelee."

Speaking to Cordarius, Rasson says, "Good barriers make good neighbors."

Leafiara dubiously says, "The barriers have been gone almost a month, I think."

Speaking quietly to Razanetika, Eledryn whispers aloud, "I could lend you my coat if it is too cold, if Kobane wouldn't mind. Twould be the gentlemanly thing to do."

Raelee reminds, "The Hall sent this contingent to study the blight and develop a cure. Barriers were not the entirety of the purpose."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Puppy likes rum."

A sleek white falcon can be seen soaring overhead, a bit away from the town, swooping amidst the falling snow.

Cordarius nods at Raelee.

Cordarius says, "Exactly."

Ysharra says, "Ah. The Grand Magister."

Speaking to Raelee, Ysharra says, "Sounds like this will be turning into an official report."

Maags says, "That is good news."

Mayor Lylia just arrived.

Kandarous says, "A strange gathering . . ."

Pukk quietly exclaims, "We can start the conference, our mayor is here!"

Ralkau asks, "Conference on what?"

Cordarius asks, "Are you done explaining?"

Cordarius peers quizzically at Raelee.

Cordarius chuckles.

Raelee says, "... quite."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk whispers aloud, "I think the proper protocol for meeting the mayor is for you to give her a kiss."

Lylia says, "I suppose we are all here to read the latest on the tale of the kitten overlords."

Gutstorm yells, "Owlie, get over ere!"

Lylia glances at a bone-framed bulletin board.

Giantphang exclaims, "It wants a statues!"

Maags says, "Brevity is one of the Magister's best talents."

Ysharra says, "Too late. I got caught up with Melikor a bit ago."

Cordarius asks, "Has the blight spoken to you?"

Cordarius peers quizzically at Ysharra.

Speaking amusedly to Maags, Leafiara agrees, "Can't really argue."

Pukk yells, "All hail our kitten overlord Sinister Mister Mittens!"

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "No, save for a few impressions that will surprise no one."

Cordarius nods.

Cordarius says, "Interesting."

Pukk quietly exclaims, "Got one!"

Cordarius says, "I'd like to explore that."

Cordarius says, "Some night. Or two."

Cordarius winks at Ysharra.

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "All I felt was that it's not natural, I'm sure that's shocking."

Leafiara slowly says, "...right." [in response to Cordarius]

Ysharra says, "And that it's specific to the Landing. Focused on it."

Lylia whispers something to Shinann.

Cordarius says, "We have some thoughts."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "I'm at your disposal."

Ysharra nods at Cordarius.

Cordarius says, "The Magister and I will meet with you soon."

Cordarius asks, "Oh?"

Cordarius grins at Ysharra.

Cordarius says, "Charmed."

Cordarius grins.

Ysharra gazes up into the heavens.

Maags chants a short but reverent orison, asking for love to bloom.

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra asks, "Going to exploit my weakness for charity to get a salacious quip in?"

A sleek white falcon swoops out over the bay, inching closer to town.

Speaking to Falvicar, Maags says, "How are yous Blade, well hopes."

Leafiara whispers something to Maags.

Cordarius asks, "So, I guess she's coming, and our new coffin?"

Cordarius peers quizzically at Raelee.

Zosopage says, "That falcon needs a good tail wind."

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee states, "Correct."

Cordarius says, "We really do need a better name for them."

Cordarius says, "Coffin sounds so permanent."

Speaking quietly to Lylia, Pukk says, "I heard that you like chainmail armor....but then I found out I misheard and it was chained males....."

Maags says, "Onlies if it has nails in it."

Lylia says, "Perhaps they should be permanent, in some cases, at least."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Raelee says, "In many cases, that is the intent."

Lylia removes a large blackened steel chain from in her wrap.

Lylia smiles at Pukk.

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "It does seem like their name and purpose are deviant, if the purpose is indeed what it is purported to be."

Leafiara suggests, "Bane container?"

Rasson says, "Do we have people watching the bay... that bird looks off."

Pukk taps a heavy iron wristlet that he is wearing.

Speaking to Lylia, Zosopage exclaims, "Chain him to the statue!"

Cordarius rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Cordarius says, "Magilid."

Cordarius says, "Magepod."

Ensayn musingly says, "No need to waste a comfy coffin stuffing it in the ground."

Cordarius rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Leafiara eagerly says, "Oh, I like that."

Cordarius leans against the Moot Hall.

Xorus says, "Hall of Mirrors."

Cordarius snickers at Xorus.

Speaking to Rasson, Thrassus says, "That's likely Grand Magister Octaven's familiar."

Cordarius says, "Magic Vase."

Cordarius asks, "No Churn Urn?"

Eledryn asks, "Ossuary?"

Raelee stares sternly down her nose at Cordarius.

Chamorr heartily says, "A tobagon."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "I think Magister Svala doesn't appreciate your humor."

Maags says, "A cookie box."

Lylia quietly says, "Although from what I heard after Thrayzar's stay in one, it was not a comfortable coffin at all."

Cordarius stands on his tippy toes so Raelee has to stare sternly up her nose at him next time.

Rasson says, "As long as it does not bring clickcky snakes with it."

Speaking diplomatically to Cordarius, Leafiara asks, "So, uh, as much as we appreciate your humor... what -does- bring you here tonight?" [he'll come back to this in a bit]

Lylia muses, "This gives me some joy, not knowing that Thrayzar spent time in one, but recalling that Drangell did."

Ysharra says, "Nor was Cyph's, clearly."

Lylia nods in agreement to Leafiara.

Speaking deeply to Raelee, Guarrin says, "You really do have our work cut out for you."

Cordarius says, "I do not envy the orc inside of one now."

Lylia says, "I was wondering the same, although we certainly welcome the company."

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk says, "The whole humor and Magister thing throws me off too."

Cordarius says, "But I suppose Sir Thadston had little choice."

Cordarius asks, "Can we still call him Sir Thadston?"

Lazaryth asks, "Thrayzar is in the coffin now?"

Speaking to Guarrin, Raelee says, "Constantly."

Cordarius nods at Lazaryth.

Lylia says, "He prefers Thadston, I do believe. Though you would have to ask him."

Speaking to Lazaryth, Ysharra says, "We were told it was the only way to stop the progression of his curse."

Speaking to Cordarius, Goldstr says, "He still be a Knight in me eyes."

Cordarius says, "I came out tonight, waiting for the Grand Magister's arrival."

Lazaryth says, "Better him than me."

Cordarius says, "Her bird always comes first."

Speaking to Lazaryth, Leafiara explains, "He was losing himself more to the orc instincts."

Speaking to Cordarius, Ysharra says, "No offense, Cordarius, I'm a little suspicious of those coffins. They remind me of the cases I put dead things in after I necropsy them."

Lylia says, "A pity. Those who give in to their basest instincts are often doomed by them."

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "The usage in this town has been unorthodox."

Taloin offers Cordarius a smooth vellum calling card.

Speaking to Ysharra, Raelee says, "They are prisons."

Speaking to Cordarius, Taloin murmurs, "We are open to business ventures."

Eledryn whispers something to Staceyrain.

Ysharra says, "They feel more like...something that collectors use for their finds."

A sleek white falcon swoops back out over town, soaring over the Lower Dragonsclaw forest and then suddenly a huge patch of darkness seems to detatch from the very sky itself and swallows the falcon whole, its sleek white body disappearing into the shadows leaving no trace.

Cordarius blinks.

Speaking amusedly to Ysharra, Leafiara says, "Nah, that was just Dennet."

Cordarius accepts Taloin's calling card.

Razanetika softly says, "Oh no."

Leafiara slowly says, "Well then."

Cordarius nods slowly to Taloin, but keeps his eyes to the sky.

Speaking to Leafiara, Ysharra says, "Dennet, the Grand Magister of the Hall of Mages? You don't say."

Cordarius put a smooth vellum calling card in his ashen-hued robe.

Lazaryth says, "I'm not certain what I just saw."

Cordarius says, "That's...not good."

Chamorr heartily says, "Didna seem good."

Razanetika softly exclaims, "That poor falcon!"

Shinann says, "I was wondering if that was normal."

Speaking to Cordarius, Raelee says, "... no."

Ensayn slowly says, "Could a swore there was a bird up there just a moment ago..."

Cordarius reaches out and touches his falcon pendant.

Xorus says, "It is reminiscent of the Bleaklands."

Giantphang says, "Sky eat the bird."

Speaking to Ensayn, Taloin agrees, "There was."

Gutstorm drunkenly says, "Falconsh tashte like chicken."

Lazaryth asks, "Mm. A cloud, or something more sinister?"

Leafiara cautiously says, "Well, if the falcon comes back and explodes into witchworms, at least we'll know what to expect this time."

Cordarius cranes his head, listening to someone or something, then nods.

Speaking nervously to Giantphang, Elphieya says, "I don't think skies are supposed to eat birds."

Maags asks, "Or a larger dark bird?"

Giantphang exclaims, "Lucky thing sky not try for eat Mel...Mel is not for eating!"

Cordarius says, "Be ready. Something is coming."

Speaking quietly to Cordarius, Pukk says, "It's call snow....if you sit in it long enough, you will be able to sing much higher notes."

Speaking dryly to Cordarius, Leafiara says, "Ya don't say."

Thrassus asks, "Something?"

Rainedrop quietly asks, "Soo what was all that with the bird?"

Speaking wonderingly to Taloin, Ensayn asks, "Maybe it left?"

Maags says, "Problies not purple lightning."

Speaking to Ensayn, Taloin speculates, "They dive."

Speaking to Pukk, Eledryn says, "That's... not how singing works, in my experience."

Ensayn slowly says, "Ahh prey maybe."

Lylia says, "It is night, the skies are low and gravid with snow. Hard to say what occurred."

Speaking to Ensayn, Taloin comments, "Especially sandwitch eaters."

Speaking to Lylia, Ysharra says, "Early snow brings more than just the ice, it seems."

Speaking to Cryheart, Maags asks, "Feel that wind?"

Gryphonwind Adventures

In the sky above, patches of night begin to peel away to reveal a host of huge winged griffins with pale gold and black feathers. The once magnificent beasts are tattered and twisted, their bodies bloodied and rotting, their eyes glowing red with an incarnadine hue. Despite their form of unlife, their ferocity remains intact.

Ensayn skeptically says, "I'm too heavy for a bird to pickup . . . well maybe not one of those griffin chickens."

Cryheart says, "Somewhat."

Speaking to Cryheart, Maags exclaims, "Not taking another chance!"

Cordarius says, "So yeah..."

Cordarius points at Maags.

Thrassus says, "Interesting."

Eledryn says, "That's not what gryphons are supposed to look like."

Cordarius taps his nose.

Cordarius says, "Point for you little person."

Ralkau says, "Here we go."

Cryheart asks, "What the?"

Maags forcefully crosses one arm over her chest and offers a formal bow.

Suddenly dropping out of the sky descends a group of glowing red-eyed zombie griffins that swoop down from the heavens!

Melikor says, "Well."

Guarrin deeply mutters, "Fun."

Ysharra says, "Ouch..."

Cordarius says, "I'm going to check on the Grand Magister."

Cordarius pulls the hood of his robe down over his face, concealing his features.

Giantphang exclaims, "It eated mine hand!"

Taloin coolly says, "It's a start."

Rasson says, "Yeah what they said."

Brumas Bears Down

The air shimmers briefly.

Lazaryth thoughtfully says, "Hm."

Melikor says, "Gates are clear, for now."

Rasson says, "Shimmering air is never a good sign."

Ysharra asks, "Octaven?"

Leafiara musingly says, "I bet... it's about to dispel magic..."

The air shimmers to reveal a bloodied battlefield where a huge stone dwarven keep rises in the distance. Charging into view from the battlefield comes a host of dwarven warriors!

A muscular dwarven dreadnaught gestures and utters a phrase of magic.

Pukk quietly says, "That sounds fun."

Ysharra says, "They survived a much worse blight than this."

Guarrin deeply asks, "The gate then?"

Pukk quietly says, "A bard with a horn."

Division of Labor

A low rumble echoes through the room making your hair stand on end. A single point of light flickers to life in the center of the room moments before erupting into a massive swirling vortex!

Chamorr is sucked into the vortex!

[and others]

The vortex pulls at you intensely as you lose control and are sucked directly into its depths!

Time and space blur before your eyes, stretching and warping until...

[Temporal Rift]

Time and space seem to swirl around you. You catch brief glimpses of events both past and future. Beyond these strange and confusing visions extends a vast, ever-changing field of stars, pinpoints of light against unfathomable utter blackness. It is very cold here.

[Wehnimer's, Outside Gate]

Citizens, merchants and assorted dregs of society jostle against you before the great wooden gates of Wehnimer's Landing. Harried guards and militiamen try to keep the chaos to a minimum, but it is hard to keep track of those entering, let alone leaving, this large trading post. A dirt path encircling the wooden palisade of the town leads east and southwest. Nailed prominently to the wooden wall beside the gate is a sign you really should read. You also see a clear glass wand, a reinforced wooden defense tower and the Wayside inn.

As you progress on this north-south path, the dark forest to the west catches your eye. A little forbidding in its primeval appearance, it is sure to offer a good source of small-game hunting. You also see a withered patch of grass and a mottled rolton hide tent.

Brumas's group just went south.

[Wehnimer's, Exterior]

The muted sounds of loud bartering from within Wehnimer's Landing, and the lonely calls of a pair of mated fenvaoks high up in the air vie for your attention as you march along the outer western edge of the town. You also see a pus-covered rolton, a glowing-eyed zombie griffin that is flying around, a tall wooden archery tower, a reinforced large wooden gate and a withered patch of grass.

[combat]

Ysharra says, "...but this is an improvement over wholesale murder of the human knights and the blight-ridden townsfolk-"

[combat]

Brumas's group just went south.

[Wehnimer's, Exterior]

To the west, the landscape is gradually changing from a thick dark forest to an open, green grassy plain. You also see a gruff dwarven myrmidon, a withered patch of grass and a weathered canvas tent.

Ensayn says, "Giant chickens of death."

Brumas exclaims, "THEY ARE ORCS!"

Falvicar quietly says, "They are not."

Leafiara wryly asks, "Did you guys actually expect anything else but this to happen?"

Brumas exclaims, "Can't ye bloody see with yer eyes!"

Ysharra says, "We'll need it."

Speaking deeply to Brumas, Berost exclaims, "Yer not seein clear ya fool! Thems is knights! If they orcs me mother was an elf from Vaalor!"

Ensayn hopefully says, "Try not to explode the pus-covered animals."

Speaking heartily to Brumas, Chamorr says, "Onward."

Speaking deeply to Berost, Guarrin says, "Tell 'em."

Brumas gestures and curls of icy vapor whisper into existence, coalescing around his body to form a swirling barrier of blue light.

Brumas's group just went south.

[Wehnimer's, Exterior]

Clear grassland stretches far to the southwest, a futile lesson in the immensity of Elanith. To the northwest, the grassy plain gives way to a smattering of pines that dot the landscape. Immediately east of you looms the high wooden wall of the Landing which provides you with a sense of security against all the unknown things that may lurk in plain and forest alike. You also see a withered patch of grass.

Brumas's group just went south.

[Wehnimer's, Exterior]

As you stand next to the southwest corner of the Landing, you have an unobstructed view of the plain. Some distance away you can make out the vague figures of shepherdesses tending their flocks of Rolton -- sheep indigenous to the region. Further south the grassy expanse turns hilly, eventually terminating in stark mountains that line the horizon. You also see a pus-covered rolton, a withered patch of grass and a wooden signpost.

Speaking deeply to Guarrin, Berost says, "Need ta get him good an drunk."

Brumas raises his hand up.

Speaking heartily to Berost, Chamorr says, "He's a dwarf, is there such a thing."

Brumas says, "It's quiet...they know we're comin'..."

Brumas says, "Be ready brother."

Brumas nods at Berost.

A pus-covered rolton trots in!

Ensayn exclaims, "Last call for whiskey!"

Thrassus asks, "Who, the roltons?"

Chamorr heartily says, "Shhhhhh we huntin orcs."

Pukk yells, "We has ale!"

Bernadette softly says, "Be vewwy quiet."

Brumas's group just went southwest.

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Grasslands]

Leaving the path behind you enter the grasslands. The wind blowing across the knee high grass stretching out before you has a hypnotic effect.

Brumas kneels down.

Brumas says, "Shhh.."

Brumas crouches into the high grass.

The voice of Gryzzlbok says, "I think Brumas is a ranger, we seem lost."

Brumas says, "They're coming..."

Lazaryth noncommittally says, "Mm."

Chamorr heartily says, "If orcs show up."

Speaking to Brumas, Ysharra says, "...I take it you don't mean more sheep.."

Speaking deeply to Brumas, Berost says, "Yas know. Orcs don't ride mounts an be covered in polished plate wavin banners of Hendor ...."

Speaking to a pus-covered rolton, Ysharra says, "I hate being right all the time."

Brumas says, "We'll take the main gate first..."

Ensayn hopefully says, "Let it be something short enough to smack in the head."

Brumas says, "Until our sappers finish their work they've been trying to complete with the maps we've found..."

Speaking heartily to Brumas, Chamorr says, "Lead on."

Berost deeply asks, "Where be tha gate?"

Speaking quietly to Ensayn, Pukk says, "Considering your height...that would be very low."

Guarrin deeply asks, "And you mentioned a portal?"

Brumas says, "The gateway is beyond the wall of runes, in a room of stone and silver glows."

Brumas says, "So says the priestess."

Speaking in Dwarven, Raelee asks something you don't understand.

Brumas says, "She's not failed us yet."

Leafiara simply agrees, "Makes sense."

Guarrin deeply agrees, "Oh yes, the priestess."

Linsha asks, "Are we going there soon or will I die from old age first?"

Brumas says, "Shhh.."

Brumas says, "They're coming..."

Speaking deeply to himself, Guarrin mutters, "I wonder who the priestess could be."

Speaking offhandedly to Guarrin, Leafiara says, "Not it. ...this time."

The voice of Gryzzlbok says, "I hope it's Dwi."

Brumas gestures and curls of icy vapor whisper into existence, coalescing around his body to form a swirling barrier

The very air along the grasslands begins to shimmer and almost hold a pale viridian tinge.

Lazaryth says, "Hm."

A warhorn sounds in the distance.

Brumas exclaims, "Get ready!"

Brumas stands up.

Brumas raises his dark blue steel sledgehammer in triumph!

Pouring out of the Hendoran Keep rushes a host of imperial knights, charging towards the grasslands.

Speaking heartily to Brumas, Chamorr says, "Ready."

Falvicar quietly says, "Damn."

As the knights come in closer, their forms seem to shimmer and change....and they appear as if orcs.

A shimmering orc warrior charges in!

Speaking to Brumas, Ysharra asks, "What does this priestess look like?"

Zosopage recites:

"Do not attack "

Berost deeply says, "We are pulled into his view."

Xorus says, "Brilliant."

Pukk quietly exclaims, "Don't trust those orcs!"

Lauranathalasa says, "He tricked us."

Speaking deeply to Cryheart, Guarrin asks, "What are you doing?" [he was attacking]

Cryheart says, "Hold your attacks."

Tacticsl Maneuvers

Speaking pragmatically to Brumas, Leafiara suggests, "Maybe we should just rush through their ranks and onward to the keep, or they'll delay us forever."

Falvicar quietly says, "Hold."

The orc warrior is stunned!

Brumas exclaims, "They are orcs!"

Lylia says, "What you see is not what there is. No illusion is ever flawless."

Lazaryth quietly muses, "Is it a trick, or are we now under the same illusion as he? Unwittingly?"

Taloin is revealed from hiding.

As Taloin moves to attack Brumas, the icy blue light surrounding his body intensifies in frequency and solidifies! Suddenly, the light violently flares out toward Taloin!

... 1 point of damage!

Brrrr! That was a good hit to the left leg! Knocked Taloin silly.

Speaking to Brumas, Ysharra says, "I think you're bewitched, too. And I think I know who."

Brrrr! That was a good hit to the left leg! Knocked Berost silly.

Speaking pragmatically to Brumas, Leafiara reasons, "Take out the king and none of the rest matter. You're wasting time on grunts."

Speaking to Brumas, Maags says, "They are human and yous are trying to trick us."

Speaking to Brumas, Lylia says, "You waste our time on these foot-soldiers. We should press forward."

Lauranathalasa says, "There is some sort of enchantment cast on Brumas."

Shinann says, "I am going to the Outpost and fighting with them."

Speaking to Brumas, Taloin exclaims, "Hold damn you!"

As the orc warriors bleed and take their final breaths on the ground, their shimmering forms peel away to reveal Hendoran soldiers.

Brumas's group just went south.

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Grasslands]

Far to the north can be seen the trading post of Wehnimer's Landing. From this distance, the town appears a miniature and the hustle and bustle within the walls is but a faint whisper. The scent of wildflowers and grass tells you that you are indeed far from the city. You also see a pus-covered rolton that appears dead, a pus-covered rolton, a shimmering orc warrior, a shimmering orc warrior, a shimmering orc warrior and a rutted dirt trail.

Speaking to Brumas, Taloin argues, "They are not attacking us, you are attacking them. They keep talking in common about being on our side." [OOC: I had cut out what he's referring to since it's all part of the combat text, but basically Hendoran knights as well as the "orc warriors" have three layers of warning text if you attack them... the first one is "Hey, XYZ! I'm on your side! Watch it!", then "Hey, XYZ! I said I'm on your side! Watch it!", and then if you still keep attacking them it's "That's it, XYZ! You've attacked me, and now you'll die!"]

Speaking to Brumas, Ysharra asks, "What's your priestess' name?"

Pukk quietly says, "They keep changing."

Speaking to Pukk, Taloin says, "And arguing in unbroken common, that they are on our side."

Speaking to Brumas, Leafiara offers, "We're a small force. It's not difficult to slip through if we move quickly, but the longer we delay, the harder it'll become."

Speaking to Pukk, Taloin says, "There's something wrong about this."

Brumas says, "She is the Wanderer, she has no name, only wisdom."

Lylia says, "She speaks sense."

Speaking deeply to Brumas, Berost asks, "And what wisdom did she share?"

Speaking quietly to Taloin, Pukk says, "I think the orcs are trying to pull something."

Guarrin deeply drones, "Oh no, they've slipped through the lines. No. Stop."

Speaking to Brumas, Ysharra asks, "Could we meet her?"

Speaking to Pukk, Taloin says, "I disagree."

Brumas exclaims, "We take the keep! End the orc king! Seal the endworld!"

Speaking quietly to Taloin, Pukk exclaims, "Now we know, orcs can speak common!"

Brumas's group just went southeast.

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Grasslands]

The ground slopes slightly here, giving you pause to look up at the thick, puffy cumulus clouds and their shapes, which are continuously altered by the four winds. You also see a pus-covered rolton, a pus-covered rolton, a shimmering orc warrior and a shimmering orc warrior.

[combat]

Speaking deeply to Brumas, Berost asks, "This priestess have a name or an image? Who did she worship?"

Brumas's group just went south.

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Grasslands]

Bright multi-hued patches of wildflowers fill the grassy plain to the south as far as you can see. The simple beauty afforded by the vibrant colors astounds you. You also see a shimmering orc warrior, a long metal-plated wagon, a long metal-plated wagon and a long metal-plated wagon.

Taloin is revealed from hiding.

As Taloin moves to attack Brumas, the icy blue light surrounding his body intensifies in frequency and solidifies! Suddenly, the light violently flares out toward Taloin!

... 1 point of damage!

A frosty blow to the neck. Bet that smarts!

The faewood arrow zips past its target to the ground.

Shinann: "Breshon can you hear me?"

Brumas exclaims, "END THE ORCS!"

Speaking to Brumas, Ysharra asks, "Is she a priestess of the Blacksmith?"

Speaking to Brumas, Taloin says, "End youreslf."

Pukk quietly exclaims, "Out with the imps....I mean...orcs!"

Speaking to Brumas, Ysharra asks, "What symbols of her order does she wear?"

Breshon: "Yes?"

Brumas's group just went southeast.

[Lower Dragonsclaw, Grasslands]

Growing among the warm grasses are a few scattered trees. It is hard to tell if the forest you can see to the west is encroaching upon the grasslands or if it is slowly being harvested and replaced for grazing. You also see a shimmering orc warrior, a wooden shield, a long metal-plated wagon, a long metal-plated wagon, a long metal-plated wagon, a glowing blue-white pylon, a huge imperial wagon and a fortified stone imperial outpost.

Speaking to Brumas, Taloin says, "Stop .."

Taloin murmurs a brief incantation with a casual gesture.

Taloin gestures at Brumas.

Dozens of long thorns suddenly grow out from the ground underneath Brumas! Brumas manages to jump out of the way!

Taloin murmurs a brief incantation with a casual gesture.

Taloin gestures at Brumas.

Dozens of long thorns suddenly grow out from the ground underneath Brumas! Brumas manages to jump out of the way!

Brumas exclaims, "She is no witch!"

Brumas exclaims, "Do not speak ill of the Wanderer!"

Speaking heartily to Brumas, Chamorr says, "Onward, to the keep."

Brumas exclaims, "She has shown me victory!"

Lylia indifferently says, "These orcs are nothing. You have yet to find me worthy foes. If you want to end a king, then let us do that."

Speaking quietly to Lylia, Raelee murmurs, "Is this it? We are merely going to march them into the Outpost, through my laboratory, and into the portal?"

Taloin says, "They are not orcs."

Taloin says, "The evidence is to the contrary."

Falvicar quietly says, "Raznel is a witch and she WILL die."

Speaking deeply to Brumas, Berost asks, "How an where!?"

Breshon: "Shinann?"

Speaking quietly to Raelee, Pukk exclaims, "Sounds fun!"

Brumas points his dark blue steel sledgehammer at a fortified stone imperial outpost.

Speaking to Brumas, Taloin accuses, "You are leading this band to kill those that are not orcs."

Brumas exclaims, "ATTACK!"

Maags says, "We should hurries."

Maags nods at Brumas.

Speaking to Raelee, Lylia murmurs, "Clearly not, but it would be helpful to inform the troops to stay out of the way."

Cryheart says, "No."

Speaking in Dwarven to Brumas, Ensayn says something you don't understand.

Ysharra: "Lord Breshon, don't wander outside your keep. It's not safe."

Cryheart says, "That is the Imperial outpost."

Leafiara: "If your troops could stand down for a bit..."

Speaking deeply to Brumas, Berost says, "I will nae attack it, brother."

Speaking to Cryheart, Taloin states, "And he is trying to get us to kill them."

Leafiara: "...there might be advantages for both of us."

Ysharra: "Make sure your sister is well-guarded. Brumas is here and he's still under the impression you and your forces are orcs."

Speaking heartily to Brumas, Chamorr says, "That's not the keep, the keep is over there by the Reach."

Pluuk just arrived.

Pluuk just went south.

Pukk quietly exclaims, "I still don't like that Pluuk guy!"

Zosopage says, "Orcs aren't Imperials."

Speaking deeply to Brumas, Berost asks, "If tha wanderer showed ya victory why did tha keep fall? Where is she now?"

Raelee: "What they are not saying, Breshon, is they intend to march Brumas through the laboratory to the portal to the Bleaklands."

Leafiara: "Allow him passage and we can corner him, as it were... yes."

Atop the ramparts, rows of Bourthian archers stand ready, but do not move. Nearby Hendoran soldiers mull about below in a courtyard. In the shadow of one of the towers stands a young girl with a slender suction-cup bow, smirking and grinning at the crowd below.

Shinann says, "I could not find Breshon but there are no warrior orcs in there." [she'd just come back]

Speaking to Shinann, Leafiara says, "He was asking for you."

Speaking quietly to Brumas, Pukk says, "Maybe you should raze the outpost..that should set things right."

Breshon: "We will not allow him passage. Turn back."

Cryheart yells, "Larsya, go hide!"

Lylia whispers something to Pukk.

Ensayn bewilderedly says, "That bow doesn't look very useful."

Leafiara offhandedly says, "Well, so much for that plan."

Leafiara draws a glowing pattern in the air before Brumas.

Brumas's eyes roll up into his head as he slumps to the ground.

Pukk whispers something to Lylia.

Leafiara hums a cheerful tune! Pure white and bold red mana wisps dance about her like wind-borne leaves, then pulse brightly as she sings a sylvan phrase in a strong, clear voice.

Leafiara gestures at Brumas.

Brumas is awakened by Leafiara's attack!

[SMR result: 73 (Open d100: 48, Bonus: 20)]

A distant melody gives Brumas pause, but nothing comes of it.

Speaking deeply to Brumas, Guarrin asks, "What's the interest in the portal anyway. The priestess looking for something?"

Spasm to Brumas's left hand.

Brumas drops dead at your feet!

A flash of icy blue light ripples over Brumas, healing him of all of his wounds.

Brumas gestures and curls of icy vapor whisper into existence, coalescing around his body to form a swirling barrier of blue light.

Leafiara mutters, "Was worth a shot."

Brumas waves his hand at Leafiara and he suddenly looks tired.

Speaking to Raelee, Ysharra says, "I wasn't attempting to deceive Lord Breshon. Just slow Brumas down."

Chamorr heartily says, "Why we do that."

Speaking to Leafiara, Taloin says, "Well done."

Speaking deeply to Leafiara, Guarrin says, "At least give him a chance to answer my question."

Brumas gestures at you and a column of shadows rises up and engulfs you! You are thrown into cold, eerie darkness for a few moments before you find that your surroundings have changed. [OOC note: presented in first person because I don't think we've actually seen that in any of my other logs before]

The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep.

... 4 points of damage!

Neck vertebrae snap.

You are stunned!

The soft tinkling of bells dances through the air, though you can see no source for the lovely sound. [OOC: that wasn't monsterbold, but I'm leaving it in because it was a mysterious message with no discernible source that's bizarrely relevant to Leafi's character, so maybe it's meaningful and not just some invisible character messaging around with an item or spell prep I'm unfamiliar with]

[fogs back]

Speaking dryly to Guarrin, Leafiara asks, "Because that's worked so well the rest of the night and the others?"

Speaking heartily to Brumas, Chamorr says, "Indeed."

Throwing Down the Gauntlet

Brumas yells, "SEND OUT YOUR KING!"

Falvicar quietly says, "I suggest ye lead."

Cryheart says, "Aye."

Cryheart says, "Join me."

(OOC) Kelestra's player whispers to the group, "When a group leader dies, it drops the group, FYI." [OOC: ha, whoops, unintended side effects :D]

Cryheart says, "Enough of this."

Brumas yells, "I challenge your king!"

Speaking quietly to Cryheart, Pukk says, "You have finally accepted your role here."

Chamorr heartily says, "I like his group."

Speaking to Stigs, Kelestra whispers aloud, "Do we have a king, still? I've spent a long time on the isle."

Cryheart says, "Brumas, ye are nae living in this current time of ours...ye are from the past."

The gates begin to slowly creak.

Speaking to Kelestra, Stigs says, "Water has gone to your head."

Lylia asks, "Single combat, then?"

Falvicar quietly asks, "Everybody joined to Sir Cryheart?"

Speaking deeply to Brumas, Berost says, "There be no king."

Zosopage whispers to the group, "Well I think Brumas' doesn't hold well to his surname cause he aint too bright!"

The gates slowly open and Brumas raises his sledgehammer.

Speaking quietly to Brumas, Pukk asks, "How about a round of ale?"

Lord Thadston just limped in.

Thadston says, "Hey, ugly."

Cryheart says, "His paragon think he is in the past."

Speaking heartily to Thadston, Chamorr says, "Howdy."

The gargoyle atop Pukk's gargoyle earring looks disdainfully at Thadston and mutters, "So ugly with same-size eyes... wishes he was more like the Dread Lord..."

Thadston bashes his gauntlets together and a flash of energy bursts outward, rippling across the area and slamming into Brumas! The blast sends Thadston hurling backwards into the gate, smashing through the wood and out of sight.

Shinann says, "Breshon did say to turn back."

Brumas falls over.

Pukk quietly says, "I mean."

Brumas stands up.

Lazaryth says, "Hm."

Brumas shimmers for a moment, as if stunned.

Leafiara mutters, "...he really needs to stop pulling out his trump card for every threat or he's gonna end himself..."

Thrassus says, "That had to be painful."

Speaking deeply to Brumas, Berost asks, "Ya be seein clearly yet ya daft fool?"

Speaking deeply to Brumas, Guarrin asks, "He knock some sense into you?"

Leafiara thoughtfully says, "...though maybe that's the idea..."

Speaking to Leafiara, Taloin says, "Rather hope he does, end himself."

Zosopage says, "Maybe that knocked some sense into him at least."

Cryheart says, "Time to wake up, Brumas."

Speaking to Taloin, Leafiara clarifies, "I meant Thadston, but sure, when it comes to Brumas."

Bernadette softly says, "Brumas yer not o' this time."

Speaking deeply in Dwarven to Brumas, Berost says something you don't understand.

Speaking heartily to Brumas, Chamorr says, "We kin still take em."

Cryheart says, "Ye are nae living in the time you were."

Taloin says, "Words won't stop the bewitchment. At this point we need to tie him up, or something."

Speaking quietly to Chamorr, Pukk says, "I love you..."

Speaking calmly to Brumas, Leafiara asks, "So, did that clear your head any?"

The air around Brumas shimmers and for a moment the world around him bleeds away to a land of broken dirt, jagged rocks and slate-whorled skies. Far beneath the blasted earth a cocoon rises from a muddy pool and the withered bearded form of a dwarf twitches within.

Guarrin deeply says, "Oh there we go."

Lazaryth says, "Ah -"

Pukk quietly says, "A cocoon..."

The air stops shimmering and Brumas begins to blink.

Cryheart says, "I feel for ye Brumas, a person out of time."

Brumas exclaims, "Who in the bloody 'ell was that!"

Guarrin deeply says, "Need to find that."

Brumas exclaims, "The orcs have ogre allies!"

Lylia says, "You."

Brumas exclaims, "REGROUP!"

Shinann says, "You."

Pukk quietly says, "I guess a beautiful butterfly will come out now."

Lazaryth says, "...I think he means Thadston."

Speaking to Brumas, Taloin states, "You. Leading a group on a charge against a human outpost."

Cryheart says, "Ye are nae in the time period you think."

Speaking deeply in Dwarven to Brumas, Berost says something you don't understand.

Brumas exclaims, "That ogre has magic gauntlets!"

Brumas exclaims, "REGROUP!"

Brumas exclaims, "Alert the Sappers!"

Maags says, "Problies he cannot even imagine the idea of it."

Speaking deeply in Dwarven to Brumas, Berost says something you don't understand.

Ensayn says, "He's not here."

Cryheart says, "Nae Brumas."

Speaking to Brumas, Shinann says, "No."

Brumas exclaims, "Call for the Hammers!"

Cryheart says, "Nae."

Brumas exclaims, "WE WILL RETURN KING!"

Speaking to Brumas, Ysharra asks, "It's all coming apart now, isn't it?"

Brumas marches off, disappearing into thin air.

Taloin states, "Someone get some rope, tie this guy up."

Lazaryth asks, "You all saw that, correct? The vision of the cocoon?"

Lylia says, "Yes."

Shinann says, "Now to find it and Thadston."

Berost deeply says, "Bah."

Xorus suggests, "Expedition to the Bleaklands?"

Cryheart says, "Hmmm."

Speaking deeply to Cryheart, Guarrin asks, "Why don't your gauntlets do that?"

Thrassus says, "Yet again."

Cryheart says, "They do different things."

Speaking to Xorus, Ysharra says, "Like you needed convincing."

Thadston Talks

Some Hendoran knights form around a body in the courtyard.

[travel]

Sir Cryheart's group just went through a black iron portcullis.

[Outpost, Outer Courtyard]

A pair of Hendoran soldiers stand at attention on either side of a black iron portcullis which leads outside the outpost. Beyond them, the courtyard fills a space between the outer wooden wall and an inner wall made of stone, where a fortified keep rises behind it. Above, imperial soldiers slowly walk the parapet of the outer wall, their eyes focused on the horizon. You also see a grey brick tavern.

Also here: Eent Planner Leafiara, Shinann, Kassyopia, Grand Lady Kelestra, Great Lord Kobane, High Lady Shyspirit, Pukk, Lazaryth, Stigs, Falvicar, Relic Hunter Linsha, Magister Raelee, High Lady Lauranathalasa, Guarrin, Bernadette, Zosopage, Maags, Taloin, Ensayn, Ysharra, Lord Thrassus, Melikor, Xorus who is riding a fiery-eyed nightmare steed, Mayor Lylia, Berost, Tsarok, Brave Soul Neopuron, Razanetika, Lord Lycurgus, Sir Cryheart, Lord Thadston who is sleeping

Cryheart says, "He is sleeping."

[various people tying to awaken him]

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk says, "He looks like such a cutie when he is asleep."

Cryheart says, "Apparently the attack on Brumas, backfired."

Lazaryth murmurs, "Women never let a man sleep."

Speaking heartily to Thadston, Chamorr says, "Almost blew yerself into next week."

Pukk quietly says, "But you all had to go and wake him."

Curls of blue smoke rise up from Thadston's gauntets and swathes of flesh along his arms bubble and burn.

Elphieya concernedly asks, "Is he okay?"

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra asks, "Are you all right?"

Speaking to Elphieya, Taloin asks, "Can you heal that?"

Speaking quietly to Thadston, Pukk says, "That was a blast, wasn't it."

Thadston spits, blood dribbling down his chin.

Elphieya begins a careful examination of Thadston -- she takes his pulse, checks his temperature, and checks for broken bones or any other ailments.

Elphieya looks over at Taloin and shakes her head.

Thadston says, "Hell that hurts."

Cryheart says, "Bad magics."

Speaking tentatively to Thadston, Leafiara advises, "Ya know, I think just maybe from here on you should save those gauntlets for Raznel herself..."

Thadston says, "Now I know why that Osment kid was such a crippled freak."

Speaking to Thadston, Lylia says, "I am not lending you another handkerchief. You only lose them."

Speaking quietly to Thadston, Pukk says, "See, having all your soldiers here is a pain in the butt."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra asks, "Do you?"

Ensayn comments, "Power requires sacrifice."

Leafiara surprisedly admits, "Huh, never thought about that with Osment. Makes sense."

Thadston says, "Sorry, I wasn't about to let that dwarf...spirit...paragon...phantom...whatever in here."

Speaking to Thadston, Taloin says, "You did right."

Speaking to Thadston, Raelee says, "Good."

Speaking to Thadston, Taloin says, "You did right."

Speaking to Thadston, Taloin says, "You did right."

Speaking to Thadston, Taloin says, "You did right."

Speaking to Thadston, Taloin says, "You did right."

Speaking to Thadston, Taloin says, "You did right."

Speaking to Thadston, Taloin says, "You did right."

Speaking to Thadston, Taloin says, "You did right."

Speaking to Thadston, Taloin says, "You did right."

Speaking to Thadston, Taloin says, "You did right."

Lylia says, "Of course not. I knew this."

Speaking softly to Kobane, Razanetika says, "You know I get lost easily."

Thadston says, "I know."

Thadston says, "I know."

Thadston says, "I know."

Speaking quietly to Taloin, Pukk says, "You can say that again."

Thadston says, "I know."

Taloin says, "Excuse me."

Thadston says, "I know."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "I think that you made it able [possible?] for us to see his cocoon."

Leafiara coyly says, "Temporal magic must be affecting us all."

Ensayn says, "Quite the echo in here."

Chamorr heartily says, "There's a echo in here."

Lylia says, "But we needed to know what he saw as his 'king.'."

Thadston asks, "Huh?"

Cryheart says, "Brumas is still living in a world of illusion."

Thadston peers quizzically at Ysharra.

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "So your defense of the keep was illuminating and effective."

Speaking quietly to Leafiara, Pukk says, "I blame Shiny."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "After your fight, we all saw a vision of his cocoon."

Xorus says, "His real body is in a cocoon in the Bleaklands."

Thadston asks, "Here?"

Thadston says, "Oh."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "So we know we have to find it."

Thadston frowns.

vThadston says, "Bleaklands."

Xorus says, "It rose from a muddy pool."

Speaking quietly to Thadston, Elphieya says, "It looked like the Bleaklands."

Berost deeply says, "Tha bleak. Meh."

Ensayn thoughtfully says, "Don't belive Brumas is living at this point or for quite some time."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "Of course. It's always the Bleaklands."

Lylia says, "The illusion we saw, of 'orcs,' was what he sees, I believe. He is hard-headed, but he is not stupid. And yes, we now see his true location."

Thadston asks, "So where's the dwarf now?"

Cryheart says, "He disappeared."

Falvicar quietly asks, "Getting drunk somewhere?"

Speaking to Thadston, Taloin says, "Ran off, to regroup."

Shinann says, "He shimmered and vanished."

Thadston says, "So he'll be back."

Lylia says, "The murderous one disappeared. The withered one awaits his doom, unknowing."

Speaking deeply to Thadston, Guarrin says, "Seems you ran him off. Nice punch."

Cryheart says, "Most likely."

Speaking heartily to Thadston, Chamorr says, "Almost had ya."

Zosopage says, "When is the question."

Maags exclaims, "That was a pretties good punch!"

Thadston says, "We may need to move Thrayzar."

Elphieya quietly says, "At least now we know his true location and true form."

Speaking to Leafiara, Taloin says, "Was a good attempt to stop the violence."

Speaking quietly to herself, Raelee mutters, "This is exhausting."

Lazaryth says, "All the same. If anyone has any advanced cocoon-detecting techniques, let's hear them. I can't imagine the Bleaklands are no bigger than a mud puddle."

Thadston says, "...and I saw your lady's bird."

vThadston says, "For a moment."

Thadston glances at Raelee.

Thadston asks, "Does she have my other coffin?"

Speaking to Thadston, Raelee says, "... she does."

Lylia says, "If only someone had a compass to detect such things."

Thadston says, "My son is coming."

Thadston says, "We've been tracking him, best we can. He won't come light this time."

Thadston says, "I will need it."

Thadston says, "...please."

Thadston nods at Raelee.

Leafiara admits, "A bit late on this thought, but I'm not sure Thrayzar can be moved anywhere that Raznel won't be able to see. So perhaps somewhere easy to mobilize to and defend, at least."

Ysharra says, "I wonder where Peter has been tonight."

Lylia says, "I wondered the same."

Speaking to Thadston, Raelee says, "The Grand Magister is bringing it. She was delayed, clearly."

Thadston says, "Preparing. I told him tomorrow we seek out the next paragon."

Speaking deeply to Ysharra, Guarrin says, "Good question."

Speaking to Thadston, Raelee says, "Tomorrow."

Thadston says, "So he better be asleep right now, so we can dig into his mind."

Thadston nods at Raelee.

Leafiara understandingly says, "Ahhh, finding a location, not going on the hunt."

Thadston says, "I will need to be in possession of the second coffin."

Speaking quietly to Thadston, Pukk says, "I think I know what set Brumas off. Somebody said "What's up" then laughed at him because he is a dwarf..."

Lylia says, "Ah, so soon? Good. We already have this one in sight, or at least potentially..."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "I'm sure that's where he keeps all this visions and misdeeds."

Thadston says, "If we're to subdue Disean."

Ysharra says, "I hope Octaven wasn't injured."

Zosopage says, "Brumas seems to be quite "short" sighted."

The voice of Gryzzlbok says, "Funny..."

Speaking to Ysharra, Leafiara mumbles, "Would be more concerned about her falcon if anything..."

Chamorr heartily says, "Ow."

Ensayn says, "The height of humor. Now quit it."

Thadston rubs his neck as the last coil of blue smoke rises from his gauntlets and burnt flesh.

Chamorr heartily says, "He dinna get it, went over his head."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "Thank you. For coming to help. He wouldn't listen to us."

Cryheart says, "Ye should get your arms tended to."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra asks, "How is your wound?"

Thadston nods at Ysharra.

Speaking quietly to Thadston, Pukk says, "You should have a healer look at that...if you catch the boat now, you might be able to head back and get healed."

Falvicar quietly asks, "How... exactly to subdue him?"

Speaking to Falvicar, Leafiara says, "The coffin."

Ensayn notes, "Don't believe those sorts of wounds can be healed."

Falvicar quietly says, "I know he wants to put him in the coffin."

Thadston says, "To be blunt, I'm going to throw him in the coffin and send him away."

Speaking heartily to Falvicar, Chamorr says, "Beat him senseless, stuff him in a box."

Ysharra says, "...some wounds don't respond to spiritual healing."

Thadston asks, "The how?"

Falvicar quietly asks, "But if that doesn't work to get him in there, then what?"

Thadston indicates some blackened kroderine gauntlets as a possible option.

Zosopage says, "At least it's a small coffin so not so heavy."

Thadston says, "I'll use these as many times as needed to do it."

Thadston stands up.

Leafiara understandingly says, "Well... can't talk you down in this case and wouldn't try, since it's Disean."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "I just hope the coffin severs the bonds between the witch and him, so you can do just that."

Cryheart asks, "And if ye dinnae hae any arms left?"

Speaking bluntly to Thadston, Raelee says, "You ought to see the healers in our tents on the borders. Magical aftereffects are rather their specialty."

Thadston says, "Then I will use my legs."

Lylia says, "Perhaps there are other ways."

Pukk whispers something to Leafiara.

Speaking to Cryheart, Kelestra suggests, "Feet, aye."

Thadston says, "Aftereffects from effects they usually cause. No thanks."

Thadston nods at Raelee.

Lylia asks, "Does he still trust Casiphia? Would he, at this point?"

Thadston says, "I.."

Speaking curtly to Thadston, Raelee says, "Very well. Martyr yourself prematurely, then."

Thadston says, "I do not know if she would be best, as leverage."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "Probably. At this point you could be incinerated to ash and still come back with those."

Thadston says, "I worry what the witch may show him."

Cryheart says, "Thank ye."

Thadston says, "Actually..."

Speaking quietly to Raelee, Pukk asks, "Let's not be hasty here...if he wants to martyr himself who are we to talk him out of it?"

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "Rachel has any number of methods to manipulate people, it seems."

Thadston says, "That gives me a great idea."

Thadston nods at Lylia.

Speaking to Pukk, Raelee says, "It certainly is not my responsibility."

Leafiara says, "But Raznel already has him fully under her control, it seems--"

Lylia smoothly says, "Perhaps not, and we know the witch lies. Who knows what calumnies she has poured into his ear? But I would prefer to use softer means of persuasion."

Chamorr heartily says, "Uhoh he has a idea."

Chamorr heartily says, "We doomed fer sure."

Thadston says, "We'll see. I'll need to think on it."

Speaking to Thadston, Lylia says, "If there is any way I can help, you have only to ask."

Thadston says, "Rage is a powerful motivator."

Cryheart says, "Ye need just to ask any of us for aid."

Lylia says, "Yes."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra asks, "We'll see you tomorrow evening, then?"

Chamorr heartily says, "Great idea, let's piss him off."

Speaking deeply to Thadston, Berost says, "An if ya get word o' that idjit dwarf Brumas, let me know."

Thadston nods at Ysharra.

Cryheart says, "Brumas is soooo obsessed."

Speaking pragmatically to Chamorr, Leafiara says, "That's when they don't think clearly. It's a good tactic."

Taloin coolly mutters, "Because we can't allow cool heads to prevail. We must stir everyone up instead."

Thadston says, "I want to be present during Pylasar's mind thing."

Thadston says, "I don't trust Quinshon."

Thadston glances at Lylia.

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "No one trusts anyone in these events."

Speaking heartily to Thadston, Chamorr says, "Send Pukk to talk to him."

Thadston says, "I also don't trust the chronomage."

Speaking curiously to Thadston, Leafiara asks, "You think he'll be there? Chrysamber still hasn't fixed her compass?"

Thadston says, "I don't trust any of them all really."

Leafiara understandingly says, "Ahh... so in either case no trust."

Speaking deeply to Cryheart, Berost says, "He be thinkin he let his keep fall. It will eat at him ... always."

Thadston asks, "Can we get sixteen coffins?"

Raelee looks thoughtfully at Thadston.

Thadston peers quizzically at Raelee.

Zosopage says, "Put out a huge table full of ale. That might get him to stop fighting."

Speaking to Thadston, Raelee asks, "What is your budget?"

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "You're starting a little collection of your own."

Speaking deeply to Thadston, Guarrin says, "Well. Can't argue with any of that."

Ensayn says, "Trust noone and ya won't be surprised."

Chamorr heartily asks, "Sixteen coffins?"

Thrassus asks, "Sixteen?"

Razanetika softly says, "Building a cemetary."

Lazaryth asks, "Mm? Why stop at sixteen?"

Thadston says, "I figure there's at least sixteen people I don't trust."

Speaking to Lazaryth, Ysharra says, "He doesn't need duplicates."

Thadston moves to stand in front of Thrassus.

Thadston is admiring Thrassus.

Leafiara wryly says, "Yeah, I bet."

Chamorr sings:

"Sixteen coffins"

Lylia gives a sidelong glance at Thrassus.

Thadston nods at Lylia.

Chamorr heartily says, "Ow."

Thrassus asks, "What?"

Speaking slowly to Thadston, Ensayn says, "Sixteen is a start."

Thadston says, "I hope for some updates from Peter tomorrow."

Speaking dryly to Thadston, Raelee asks, "You do realize that if you put me in one, your supply will be cut off, yes?"

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra asks, "...do you trust him?"

Thadston says, "I have not heard anything of the chronomage's compass. Perhaps she has repaired it."

Thadston says, "It's been long enough."

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra asks, "Peter, that is?"

Thadston says, "I trust you."

Thadston shrugs at Raelee.

Speaking quietly to Raelee, Pukk asks, "If he puts you into a coffin. Would that make you his mummy?"

Leafiara surprisedly blurts, "Will wonders never cease."

(Raelee raises both eyebrows at Thadston.)

Speaking to Raelee, Ysharra says, "Faint praise, I know, but I think he means it."

Speaking deeply to Raelee, Guarrin says, "How bout that. New friends."

Thadston says, "Don't flatter yourself. You're predictable, that's why."

Thadston asks, "Do I trust who?"

Thadston peers quizzically at Ysharra.

Speaking to Thadston, Ysharra says, "Peter."

Thadston says, "I trust Peter far enough to bring us to Raznel's end but not end her."

Speaking quietly to Thadston, Pukk says, "I am not predictable! I reject that notion."

Thadston says, "So we must ensure we are there to crush her throat with our boot."

Lylia notes, "He has spoken often of ending Raznel."

Thadston says, "Ending Raznel does not mean ending the witch."

Leafiara decisively says, "Wouldn't miss it."

Thadston says, "I do not trust the wild mage to have some notion to "repair" her."

Ysharra says, "No. She has too many other names to make it a simple matter like a killing."

Thadston says, "Return her. Heal her, whatever love tries to tell people."

Lylia says, "I can understand it. A pity he is wrong about it, but I can understand it."

Thadston says, "I will not hesitate to kill six paragons and a purple mage to end a witch."

Speaking quietly to Thadston, Raelee admits, "Grand Magister Octaven has expressed a similar concern."

Xorus says, "Naimorai was witch enough before 'Raznel'."

Thadston nods at Raelee.

Speaking to Xorus, Lylia says, "It is probably one of the reasons he was so smitten with her."

Speaking to Lylia, Ensayn says, "He won't stop if love drives him."

Speaking to Xorus, Ysharra says, "From what little I know, the term witch was made for people like Naimorai."

Lylia quietly says, "It is part of why we are here, then."

Zosopage says, "He didn't realize the w was actually a b."

Lazaryth quietly says, "Love has taken many fools to their doom."

Thadston says, "Goodnight. I'll see you all tomorrow."

Chamorr heartily says, "When the time comes, there should be a box for him."

Leafiara simply wishes, "Rest well and recover."

Lylia says, "Rest well, then."

Speaking approvingly to Thadston, Ensayn says, "Until tomorrow."

Speaking to Ysharra, Xorus says, "Given her centuries and the drift of Common in the same period..."

Falvicar quietly says, "Dream with Ronan."

Thadston glances at a grey brick tavern.

Speaking to Elphieya, Taloin asks, "Shall we?"

Xorus says, "Maybe."

Thadston slowly empties his lungs.

Speaking to Thadston, Kelestra says, "Let us know if you need a hand."

Lord Thadston just limped south.
