Gambling kits are highly scripted containers that come with a variety of unlock options, some of which are not necessarily linear in nature. The gambling kit originated with the merchant Gostahl who owned the Albatross gambling boat. Locked gambling kits are still sold on the boat in the Albatross Gift Shop for silvers while gambling kit with varying unlocks are sold at Duskruin in Gamac's Goods. |
|||
Gambling kits at their core have a total of three tiers, starting at Tier 0, corresponding to Locked, Partially Unlocked, and Fully Unlocked according to their analyze information. Beyond that, "special features" references a variety of gambling games that can be played with a gambling kit, and is essentially a Tier 3 unlock. In addition, some gambling kits can hold varying amounts of coins inside them weightlessly. Prior to their availability at Duskruin, both "special features" and weightless coin storage were considered "auction" unlocks, however both are now substantially more accessible. |
|||
Gambling kits originated with the merchant Gostahl who owned the Albatross gambling boat. Many different types of gambling kits were released on the Albatross and through Droughtman's Maze, some with games, some without, all of which held a quantity of silvers, some weightlessly, similar to the effect of the spell Relieve Burden. This feature can be extremely beneficial in the Rift, where there is a limit to how many silvers one can carry out in his/her pockets. |
|||
Fully unlocked "auction level" kits have been released that hold 50,000 silvers with two games, and other kits exist that hold various silver quantities in between, some have even been released as spell knowledge items with various spells. Some of the games that might be installed on a gambling kit include Roulette and Adventure Wheel. Tier 2 Gambling kits can unfold into a table that can be placed on the ground. This table can be customized by a merchant. |
|||
Although some basic (unlocked) gambling kits hold 5,000 to 10,000 silvers, basic (locked) gambling kits have no games and hold no silvers. LOOKing in a kit will tell how many silvers are inside. TOSSing the kit will put silvers into the kit from a character's pockets, GATHERing the kit will put the silvers back into a character's pocket. |

Unlocked gambling kits are capable of storing silvers inside. Unless the kit has an additional weightless coin storage applied to it, the silvers inside are not weightless. Gambling kits are not janitor-proof when placed out as a table. |

LOOKing in a kit will tell how many silvers are inside. TOSSing the kit will put silvers into the kit from a character's pockets, GATHERing the kit will put the silvers back into a character's pocket. |

Tier 0/LockedOff the shelf verbs include CLOSE and OPEN. The kit cannot be placed on the ground nor changed into a table. In its current state, it can not hold any silvers, and does not have any games. It has special messaging for placing certain types of items inside or retrieving them.AnalyzeYou analyze your red oak case and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions.
The creator has also provided the following information:
The red oak case is a Gambling Kit. It isn't unlocked.
You could OPEN and COSE the case.
This item must stay a case or kit of some sort. When altering, keep in mind that the case's messaging references it having a small, large, and secret compartment, a cubbyhole, and a narrow slot. The table (on top) cannot be deepened.
Try as you might, you cannot get a good sense of whether or not the case's pockets could get any deeper, but you can tell that the case is as light as it can get.Usage
Tier 1/Partially UnlockedAnalyzeThe black leather kit is unlocked, but not fully unlocked.
This item must stay a case or kit of some sort. When altering, keep in mind that the kit's messaging references it having a small, large, and secret compartment, a cubbyhole, and a narrow slot. The table (on top) cannot be deepened.
You can tell that the kit is as light as it can get, but you might be able to have a talented merchant deepen its pockets for you.Usage
Tier 2/Fully UnlockedUnlocked gambling kits are capable of storing silvers inside. Unless the kit has an additional weightless coin storage applied to it, the silvers inside are not weightless. Unlocked gambling kits are also capable of having a custom table description, which shows up in the room when the kit is opened up and PLACEd onto the floor. Gambling kits are not janitor-proof when placed out as a table. LOOKing in a kit will tell how many silvers are inside. TOSSing the kit will put silvers into the kit from a character's pockets, GATHERing the kit will put the silvers back into a character's pocket.AnalyzeThe bloodwood case is fully unlocked.

Tier 3/Special FeaturesPreviously referenced as an "auction" tier unlock, the addition of "speical features" for a gambling kit involves a variety of gambling games that can be played with it when placed out in table form.AnalyzeYou analyze your quartz stone case and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions.

Weightless Coin StorageWeighless coin storage is a seperate "unlock" that is typically only present on Tier 3 or (sometimes) Tier 2 gambling kits. The available coin storage is now weightless up to a certain threshold, which may vary. Weightless coin storage capacities available at Duskruin have included 5k, 10k, and 25k silvers amounts. Higher amounts have been available even more rarely, such as at special auctions. Weightless coin storage is noted specifically in the kit's analyze information if it is present.AnalyzeThe grey wood case is fully unlocked with special features.
