The Mental Mana Control skill serves the same purpose as Elemental Mana Control and Spiritual Mana Control; it determines the efficiency with which a player can share mana with other players. Currently the Empath Pure profession and Bard Semi profession benefit the most from MMC, though eventually the Monk and Savant professions will as well. The maximum benefit for sharing mana is achieved at twenty-four ranks, though many casters continue to train in it to aid some of their spells, increase the rate of return of their mana, or compensate for another player's low skill. It should be noted that even at maximum efficiency, there is still approximately a 5% loss of mana during the transfer.
The Mental Mana Control skill serves the same purpose as Spiritual Mana Control and Elemental Mana Control; it determines the efficiency with which a player can control the flows of mana of the Mental realm. Mana Control skill has an effect on a wide variety of spells and magical abilities.

MMC also factors into avoiding spell burst, runestaff defense, and some alchemy skills (mainly determining success at the training cauldrons).
This skill directly increases the amount of mana gained per pulse. If this is your primary mana control skill, if you have more ranks in it than Spiritual Mana Control or Elemental Mana Control, then you will receive a bonus of one mana per pulse for every ten ranks. If this is a secondary or tertiary mana control skill, if you have fewer ranks of mental mana control than you do of one of the other two mana controls, then you will receive a bonus of 1 mana per pulse for every twenty ranks. These bonuses stack with the bonuses you receive from any other mana control training.

Spells and Abilities Affected by Mental Mana Control

Mana sharing

This skill allows you to share mana with other players who also have some Mental Mana Control skill by using the SEND (verb). The mana transferred is:

Mana Sent × 0.95 × [Sender's MMC skill / 100] × [Receiver's MMC skill / 100]

Mana gain

This skill can directly increase the amount of mana gained per pulse.

Profession Status Effect on mana per pulse
Bard Primary if MMC > EMC, otherwise Secondary +1 mana per pulse for every 10 ranks if primary, 20 ranks if secondary
Empath Primary if MMC > SMC, otherwise Secondary +1 mana per pulse for every 10 ranks if primary, 20 ranks if secondary
Monk Primary if MMC > SMC, otherwise Secondary +1 mana per pulse for every 10 ranks if primary, 20 ranks if secondary
All others Auxiliary Does not affect mana per pulse

If both skills are equal, an arbitrary one is concerned primary; for the purposes of calculating how much mana you gain per pulse, it doesn't matter which one is chosen.

Scrolls and Magical Items

Characters trained mana controls to gain applicable additional benefits from spells activated by items using Magic Item Use or scrolls using Arcane Symbols will receive full benefits when the spell cast through the item/scroll is a native learned spell to the character's profession, a minor circle spell, or known through a spell knowledge enhancive item. When the spell is a major circle or unknown profession base spell, only half of the pertinent mana control ranks count toward the effect of the spell activated/invoked.
