Vornavis City is the capitol of the Barony of Vornavis. It is where its ruling family, the Malwinds, reside. The city overlooks Solhaven from the east and is connected to the port by several gates. Additional gates provide access to both South Haven south of the Vornavis Canal as well as the Vornavis Caravansary on the bluff overlooking the north end of Solhaven.

Entrance to the city is restricted by the Vornavis guards stationed there. Those who may enter and exit freely include citizens of Solhaven, those with a selected culture of Vornavis, and those who have been formally recognized as part of the Orders of the Turamzzyrian Empire. This includes Knights of the Empire, Magisters of the Hall of Mages, and members of the Order of the Swan. Others may only enter when accompanied by one of the aforementioned persons (i.e. in a group together). Gates are sometimes opened for everyone to enter with no restrictions for special public events held within the city.

The Keep where the Baron's family resides only opens for court sessions and other public events. It is featured as a backdrop for some significant announcements or events associated with various storylines impacting the region.

The Solhaven realm consists of several unique boroughs that over time have merged into a larger metropolis associated with the Barony of Vornavis and its capitol: Vornavis City, Solhaven, South Haven, Marshtown, and the Vornavis Caravansary.

General Information

For many years, the only accessible part of the city was the hall where Vornavis Court was held publicly. In early 5123, a significant portion of the western city was made accessible.

Dondraek Lane runs the length of the walls just inside Vornavis City. Granite is readily visible along the walls, a historic reminder of the decades of effort it took to finally remove the thread of the kraken breeding grounds that had destroyed multiple settlements in the region.

At the north end of Dondraek Lane, the Gate of Tears connects to just outside the Vornavis Caravansary. Nearby, a series of pully systems mirrors the rails visible on Tumbledown Lane in Solhaven, both of which allow the Mercantylers' Guild to easily move wares between the caravansary and the port city in spite of the steep cliffs separating the two.

The Gate of the Tradesman connects to Abalone Street in Solhaven in the heart of its trade district. It also stands at a natural transition point within Vornavis City as northern warehouses and industry buildings transition to residential areas.

Dondraek Lane opens to a large courtyard at the Gate of Light, which connects to Liabo Esplanade in Solhaven and is the most common entry by locals. The courtyard is the primary hub within Vornavis City, with five different major avenues extending outward from it. One of them is the Outer Bailey Avenue, which leads past multiple residences and the local orphanage, ending at the Vornavis Keep.

Just as the Vornavis Canal divides Solhaven from South Haven, it also bisects Vornavis City. Dondraek Bridge crosses the canal within the city walls, offering a view of the mechanical locks allowing boats passage into the city from below. On the south shore, the Gate of Shadows provides access to Lornon Avenue in South Haven. Here, the neighborhoods are much more quiet, save for at the southern end of Dondraek Lane. There, within sight of the Vespertine Gate, construction has begun in earnest on a Wizard Guild site overlooking the southern part of South Haven.

Vornavis Keep

Vornavis Keep is in the heart of Vornavis City and is accessed via Outer Bailey Avenue. The most direct route is entering from Solhaven's Liabo Esplanade via the Gate of Light and then proceeding due east. Vornavis Keep is kept closed to the public outside of special events, such as for Vornavis court sessions. It is where Baron Dunrith Malwind and his family reside. Both of the Baron's children, Salnim Malwind and Athalia Aricia Malwind, have held court sessions on his behalf.
