The Great Western Sea is the ocean surrounding the western side of the continent of Elanith. Parts of this ocean can be traveled by ship including:
- Cobalt Depths and Cephalod Straits (west of Darkstone Bay)
- Darkstone Bay (near Wehnimer's Landing)
- Deep Viridian Sea (between Kestrel Sea and Maelstrom Bay)
- Emerald Waters (near Kraken's Fall)
- Frostmain (near Icemule Trace)
- Kestrel Sea (near Solhaven)
- Lucky Seaway (between Great Western Sea and Tenebrous Cauldron)
- Maelstrom Bay (near River's Rest)
- Mirkewater (South of River's Rest toward the Southron Sea)
- Obsidian Trench (between Obsidian Sea and Sea of Lazuli)
- Obsidian Sea (surrounds Teras Isle)
- Sea of Lazuli (just west of Kestrel Sea)
- Southron Sea (Southern side of the Southron Wastes)
The Great Western Sea is kept mostly free of piracy by the Turamzzyrian Empire in a naval program that began under Emperor Chaston Kestrel. The main source of danger on the sea, besides sea creatures, are the krolvin who still send raiding missions down along the coast.
