Holy Bolt hurls a stream of holy water at a target. This stream damages the target with the concussive weight of the water or with the cleansing power of acid against the undead. It is the spell that is found in the aquamarine wands found in the treasure system, if blessed by the Cleric Base spell Holy Blade (304).
Factors That Affect Holy Bolt
The chief factor with Holy Bolt is the type of target. Living targets are affected as by Minor Water (903), as are Undead targets that have armor covering the hit location. Undead that are not covered, however, are burned as if by acid.
The Attack Strength for this spell is determined by dexterity bonus and Spell Aiming bonus.
30 ranks of Spiritual Lore, Religion unlocks an ability which causes an acidic degeneration against undead when the target is hit.
Spell Usage
Can also be used to extinguish burning objects, creatures or characters (may be subject to a skill check). Casting at oneself or characters from defensive or guarded stance simply drenches them with water (no mechanical effect), and gives them a 'penitent' feeling.
