==Designing a Foraged Item Prop== |
Using a blank foraged item prop voucher, such as a blank foliage-painted document from The Roof Over, a private property owner can design a completely custom foraged item prop for their their home. This is done via GALD merchant and typically requires multiple services to fill out every option possible. |
TURN the voucher to switch between the five different foraged item prop types (tree, shrub, ground cover, potted flower, or vine). Each of the five types has slightly different options available for harvestable plants or plant parts. A GALD merchant will fill out the remaining customizations. After all desired alterations and customizations are complete, use RAISE to apply the voucher to the private property. It can only be redeemed by the private property owner. Make sure that you are in the room where you want to redeem it. It cannot be moved, altered, or further customized after it has been redeemed. Once redeemed, the foraged item prop will display in the "You also see" line following the room's description. It is possible to move a foraged item prop to be located in, on, under, or behind another prop present in the room via Property Change Vouchers ("Move a Room Item"). This is the only way to move the foraged item prop so that it does not appear in the "You also see" line. Once moved, it will instead appear in, on, under, or behind the designated prop. |
It is recommended to TURN the voucher to see what available settings there are for the specific type of plant. Before a voucher has been TURNed or customized by a GALD merchant, its analyze will be extremely sparse: |

* Thorn - 15/15/15 |
* Scent - 1 sentence or 211 characters maximum. When SMELLing a foraged item prop, "You lean in and breathe deeply of (foraged item prop), its fragrance washing over you." is automatically added before the custom scent. This line is not counted against the scent's character limit. |

Plants must adhere to the room's climate/terrain settings. Tropical plants cannot grow naturally in tundra conditions. Potted plants can ignore this rule. |
Plants can be any plant found in the real world as well as most Elanthian plants. Rare plants have restrictions. Plants native to special locations in the game, such as Rift plants, are not allowed. Plants with spells naturally in them, including all healing herbs/plants, are not allowed. |
If an item harvested from a foraged item prop is poisonous, it is not compatible with the weaving system. |

===Potted Flower=== |
Potted flower items consist of flowers or plants growing together inside a container, such as a pot, windowbox, baskets, etc. If a Fruit/Seed item is set, it has to make sense as an edible component of the potted plant or flower. Rosehips and edible flowers such as pansies, hibiscus, and chrysanthemums are allowed. |

Tree items are typically tall and referencing you reaching above the head to harvest all items from them except for the bark. If you are a small race such as a halfling and you are not wearing tall shoes, then you may have difficulty reaching things on a tree. If you are a giantman, your positioning is ignored in favor of a longer reach. |

==Additional Information== |
Trees provide reaching above head messaging for getting everything but bark. Shrubs provide waist-level messaging for getting items. Ground-cover plants provide bending messaging. |
All interactions with the item will note if you are standing, sitting, kneeling, or lying down. |
If you are a small race such as a halfling and you are not wearing tall shoes, then you may have difficulty reaching things on a tree. If you are a giantman, your positioning is ignored in favor of a longer reach. |
The terms "potted flower" and "flowerbox" are used interchangeably on the foraged item prop voucher's analyze. |
===History=== |
Custom foraged item props were first offered via auction at Duskruin in February, 2022. They were all redeemed via email. |
Foraged item prop vouchers were first introduced at The Roof Over in Ebon Gate in October, 2022. These included both pre-made planters containing five plants as well as blank foraged item prop vouchers, which were sold as a blank foliage-painted document. |
Originally the blank foraged item prop vouchers required a merchant to set the type of plant (tree, shrub, ground cover, potted flower, or vine), however the vouchers were updated in 2023 to allow for the property owner to TURN the voucher to select the plant type themselves. |

Revision as of 19:19, 5 October 2023
Foraged item props are scripted plants which are permanently located in a room and can be harvested for flowers, leaves, sticks, fruit, or other plant-related parts. They were first introduced in 2022 by GM Thandiwe. They can be found in some publicly accessible rooms in game, such as on festival grounds or in newer built areas such as Communitea House in Solhaven or along the path to Mistwatch in Ta'Vaalor. Foraged item props come in five varieties: tree, shrub, ground cover, potted flower, or vine. The different varieties have slightly different messaging when they are harvested, such as referencing reaching up to pluck a fruit from a tree vs bending over to pluck a flower from some ground cover. In addition, different varieties have different restrictions on what types of plant parts can be harvested from them. Typically taking the form of a plant or a container holding plants in a room, foraged item props can be easily identified via their ANALYZE, which outlines which verbs are available to use for that specific plant. Different verbs are used to harvest different parts of plants, such as PINCH for leaves or PLUCK for flowers. Not all foraged item props are set up with the maximum number of harvestable plant parts, so not all foraged item props will have the same number of verbs displayed in their analyze. Various plants or plant parts can be harvested from the foraged item prop. The complete list of foraged items that can be harvested from a specific foraged item prop can be viewed via GAZE. All items harvested from a foraged item prop are built as foraged items. Because of this, they are compatible with any system that uses foraged plants, such as a Veola hair accessory, Deck the Halls items, Forager Vasculums, Grafting plants, etc. Private property owners are able to purchse their own foraged item props for their properties. This is typically done via voucher. See the designing a foraged item prop section for more information on how to customize a prop for a private property. Foraged Item PropForaged item props come in five varieties: tree, shrub, ground cover, potted flower, or vine. The different varieties have slightly different messaging when they are harvested. Not all foraged item props are fully customized. Because of this and restrictions on what types of foraged items can appear on which variety of foraged item prop, not all foraged item props use the same set of verbs. To see which verbs are available for a specific foraged item prop, use ANALYZE.
You may attend to an ornamental blooming lilac tree. You may gaze at an ornamental blooming lilac tree to see if it has any harvest-worthy items. You may pinch a leaf off of an ornamental blooming lilac tree. You may pluck a flower or mushroom off/out of an ornamental blooming lilac tree. You may scratch an ornamental blooming lilac tree to harvest some bark. You may tickle an ornamental blooming lilac tree to harvest some moss or grass. You may turn an ornamental blooming lilac tree to select a specific foraged item.
Voucher for Custom Foraged Item PropPrivate property owners have the option to purchase foraged item props for their property. This is typically done via vouchers, which are used to redeem a pre-written or customized foraged item prop inside their property. Only the private property owner can redeem a foraged item prop voucher in their property. The foraged item prop will be placed in the room where the voucher is redeemed via RAISE. Vouchers can come pre-written off the shelf with a fixed foraged item prop description as well as fixed customizations (plants able to be plucked, smell, etc.). In the case of pre-written foraged item props, no components can be altered in any way whatsoever. This is clearly stated in the pre-written foraged item prop voucher's ANALYZE in monsterbold text. Vouchers can also be purchased uncustomized or blank. For uncustomized vouchers, the property owner can take the voucher to GALD merchants to add the prop description and its different customizations. While some GALD merchants may be willing to do multiple customizations for a single service, property owners should expect the entire process to take multiple GALD services and plan accordingly. Make sure that all customizations are completed ahead of time before redeeming. Alterations and customizations cannot be applied to a foraged item prop once it has been placed in a property.
You analyze your foliage-painted document and sense that the creator has provided the following information: This will grant you a foraged item prop. Any GALD merchant can customize it for you, though not all merchants may want to do all fields. You may TURN the document to change the type of foraged item prop it creates. Designing a Foraged Item PropUsing a blank foraged item prop voucher, such as a blank foliage-painted document from The Roof Over, a private property owner can design a completely custom foraged item prop for their their home.
