Prayer grants a +10 bonus to the caster's spiritual target defense (TD) and increases protection against maneuver attacks. At 35 ranks of Cleric Base training, the spell grants a bonus of +10 to defensive strength (DS), which increases by 1 for each rank after 35. Overtraining in Cleric Base ranks does not yield additional bonus past the caster's level.

The mana cost of the spell is 13, and increases by 1 for every 3 DS granted over 10.

The spell will protect the user from a maneuver if the maneuver is able to be evaded. In addition, it provides an unknown defensive benefit against SMRv2 spells and maneuvers.

Messaging

Main article

When casting this spell, the messaging will be different depending upon the deity of the caster. Others will see a different color of light in your eyes, depending on what who your patron deity is.

Charl
Caster sees: Turning your thoughts inward, you ask for the wrath of your deity to protect you. The scent of brine and lightning-struck sand surrounds you, and you sense that your prayer has been granted.
Others see: Brilliant white light flickers in <caster>'s eyes.
