Spirit Barrier creates a wall of air around the target, slowing the movement of physical and elemental attacks and providing a defensive bonus as a result.

Effect

-20 penalty to melee and ranged Attack Strength and an additional -1 penalty per two (2) Minor Spiritual spells known.

+20 bonus to melee, ranged and bolt Defensive Strength and an additional +1 bonus per two (2) Minor Spiritual spells known.

Boost to maneuver defense for some standard creature maneuvers. The spell will protect the user from a maneuver if the maneuver is able to be defended against by a shield. For example, soul golems pushing a character into steam vents can be deflected by a shield, so this spell would give the user protection.

This is a very useful defensive spell for bolt spell casters, including wands, and practitioners of Voln fu (Order of Voln unarmed combat system) since there is no penalty to either bolt AS or Voln fu MB.

Due to its negative effect on melee and ranged AS, this spell cannot be STOPped.

Mana Cost

+1 mana per three (3) additional bonus over the base +20.

Initial cast:

The air thickens and begins to swirl around you.

Wearing off:

The air calms down around you.
