Aevilir Kil'naedesth, known as Aevi to her friends, was born in Ta'Vaalor on the twenty-third day of Charlatos to an Ardenai mother and a Vaalorian father. She currently resides in Wehnimer's Landing, which she considers home, and has since 5103. She arrived in time to help defend the outpost from Jantalarian forces led by Baron Lerep Hochstib and has been suspicious of the baronies of the Turamzzyrian Empire ever since. She's quick to defend her home, and enjoys the freedom and independence she has there.

Although she considers archery her primary skill, she enjoys locksmithing as a hobby after having spent several years making ends meet by picking boxes in the East Tower. While she no longer frequents the East Tower, she cherishes the friends and memories she made there... even the several arrests. Most of her time is now spent adventuring with friends and resting at Moonshine Manor. She is very social and enjoys going to events, parties, and galas as much as she enjoys the collecting of fashion and accessories to wear to them.

Appearance

You see Aevilir Kil'naedesth the Nightstalker.
She appears to be a Vaalor Elf.
She is perfectly postured. She appears to be in the spring of life. She has thick-lashed and ebon-haloed, viridian eyes and ethereally pale, smooth ivory skin. She has loosely waved, light sienna-highlighted deep auburn hair with several intricate braids extending from her temples woven into a voluminous center braid gathered into a diffuse high ponytail. She has an angular face and thin pointed ears. She has slender features that are further enhanced by the sharp angles of her face. A set of tapered kelyn earcaps wrought with spiraling crimson blazestar helixes hugs the curve of her ears.
She has a cluster of sleek eahnor rings in her right eyebrow, a silvery crescent moon tattoo on her neck, and a small lockpick tattoo on her wrist.
She gives off a pitiless demeanor.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a crimson silk face-veil, a tailored obsidian starsilk longcloak with a crimson-stitched hem, a fine-chained eahnor necklace strung with an ebony-haloed merlot red bloodjewel pendant, a midnight black satin bodice buttoned with silver stars, several thin alternating eahnor and spiderweb obsidian bangles, a thin crimson leather belt with a moonstone crescent buckle, a midnight black starsilk sack clasped with a slim eahnor arrow, a midnight black skirt with narrow eahnor buckles set over dual thigh slits, and a pair of black silk slippers.

Tattoos

  • a black feather tattoo on her shoulder
  • a silvery crescent moon tattoo on her neck
  • a small lockpick tattoo on her wrist
  • a crimson-tipped ebon arrow tattoo (Flypaper tattoo) - Highlighted to emphasize the fine grain of the arrow, the charcoal-colored tattoo appears to pierce through the smooth ivory skin. A short-barbed arrowhead exits the flesh, the ebon-inked projectile splattered with erratic droplets of vivid sanguine. A tight array of sharply cut fletchings balance the unswerving arrow, each one banded in tones of grey to create a realistic gradient.

History

Though Aevilir favored her mother Devitae in many ways, she had a fairly typical upbringing for Vaalorian elves. She discovered her talent for sharpshooting with a bow when she served in the Crimson Legion for her allotted time of 100 years. Frustrated with the bureaucracy and formality, she left the military as soon as she could, to the chagrin of her father who was still serving after hundreds of years. She met and eventually married her husband, a Faendryl dark elf, who was never accepted by her parents, friends, or extended family. In spite of the ostracism from her loved ones, she dedicated herself to the marriage and they had three children together - Devishal (Faendryl) the eldest son, Vaalas (Faendryl) the middle son, and Taedie (Vaalor) the youngest daughter. When her husband was lost in the Griffin Sword War, her devotion to releasing the souls of undead was born and she resolved to join the Order of Voln. Overwhelmed by grief and extreme isolation following her husband's death, she was found by Zelia and blessed with some relief from her sorrow.

Having no reason to stay in the Elven Nations, she decided to move west. Before she was able to leave, she was approached in secrecy by the wife of one of her former colleagues from her days in the military. Aevilir will not go into great detail about the circumstances, even to this day more than twenty years later, but the lady beseeched her for an extremely dire favor - that she bring her young daughter with her across the Dragonspine Mountains. The lady knew about Aevilir's disdain for the military and was desperate to protect her daughter from the cruelty of her zealous husband, who expected his daughter to follow in his footsteps as a high-ranking military official and sought to discipline her into his image from a very young age. In her desperation, she saw no other choice but to send her daughter away. It was a great risk for both women to execute this plot. Thus, Aevilir left Ta'Vaalor with four children instead of three, under the cover of night. Although it could not be proven to be related, her sudden departure, along with the coincidence of the girl going missing around the same time, was not without suspicion. She understood she could not go back any time soon and made her children understand the gravity of the situation. However, the girl she rescued was yet too young to understand and harbored resentment for being taken away from her mother and forbidden to ever return home.

Upon arriving in Wehnimer's Landing with no friends and very little money, Aevilir sought to make a living by learning locksmithing. She set up in the East Tower and started off humbly with very easy locks. While she was working, and setting off the occasional (or not-so-occasional) trap, her children occupied themselves with their new life. Her sons enmeshed themselves in the Faendryl presence they found in their new home, and quietly grew distant as the years went by. Her daughter had a gift for healing and spent her days learning and socializing with the Empaths she met in Town Square Central. Her ward spent her time in solitude in the forests surrounding the outpost, and bitterly did her best to avoid her guardian. Aevilir also enjoyed her solitude as she continued to adapt to her surroundings, slowly growing more acclimated to the freedom she had long desired. With this freedom came a strong desire to protect it, and she was given the opportunity to do so when Jantalarian forces arrived under Baron Lerep Hochstib. She and her daughter threw themselves into the fray, helping where they could with sniping from the tower, operating the ballistas, cutting down trees for ammunition, and healing. The defense of the outpost was successful, and left them both deeply distrustful of the Turamzzyrian Empire.

Present Day

In recent years, Aevilir began to grow weary of solitude and slowly became more comfortable that she was not going to be pursued by forces from the East due to her involvement in absconding with her ward. She started to allow herself to be more social and made some friends through picking boxes in the East Tower. She credits her best friend Saesyra for solidifying her reintroduction to society and the importance of community. They met through a mutual friend when Aevilir received an unexpected lick from a lady who was admiring her perfume. They quickly became inseparable, attending many events together. Through ups and downs, they have remained at each other's side, with a deep and often-misunderstood devotion.

Curious and eager to meet new friends, Aevilir joined Raise Your Stout Krew and quickly accomplished that goal when she fell into a group that was close in training to her, including Ouidanna, Craeguile, Granfenberg, and Lucraine. They regularly began hunting around Thanatoph and training together, relying on each other's skills to form a well-rounded party. Their bond was further cemented with the birth of Super Squirrel Arena team during Duskruin Arena in Phoenatos of 5123; they rotated in various team members depending on availability, who were immediately adopted as members of the Super Squirrel Arena team. This marked the beginning of a dynamic and growing group of friends as mutual acquaintances started to join them. Following Duskruin, a particular incident in the Minotaur Labyrinths of the Krag Slopes caused the Squirrel team name to stick. The group began their first (but not last) chaotic foray into the Labyrinth whereupon one by one, the team began to split up and get lost, like squirrels all running in different directions. Having a military background and being used to solo hunting, Aevilir found this disorganization extraordinarily frustrating, but can now look back and laugh at the evolution of understanding each other's strengths, weaknesses, and quirks.

With her newfound social outlook, Aevilir stepped into a position her daughter once held as an officer of Moonshine Manor alongside her longtime friend, Fireback. While she was busy and still fearful of discovery, she had remained on the fringes of the group since 5103 when her daughter helped in the founding of the organization. She always had a sense of pride and relief that her daughter was able to integrate into society so successfully, and was very grateful for the involvement of Taedie's close-knit group of friends who remained supportive of her even through streaks of extreme recklessness, when Aevilir wasn't able to be around. She feels that it is now an honor to be able to support the organization that meant so much to her daughter and seeks to preserve the family-like atmosphere of (perhaps) misfit members of society who are looking for a home. In her role, she is happy to induct new members and host occasional events, especially when her favorite co-host is able to join her.

Personality

Aevilir has been known to be a shameless flirt with no intention of following through on her antics. She enjoys engaging in witty banter, and is always looking for a fun challenge, but typically values friendship over romance. While she is social and friendly, she remains cautious and guarded with her personal life and time. She can be blunt and uncompromising, but is often touched by a little silliness. Although she exudes confidence, she is sometimes unsure of her place in society, and relies on her friends to keep her grounded.
