Synopsis

An explosion rocks the Landing militia barracks and the Consortium's armigers run toward the area ablaze! Adventurers rush to put out the fires... but once there, the armigers attack! Mayor Thadston shouts for Amos to call off his boys. As the skirmish continues, more armigers push into the barracks, aiming to get to Tyrrax! Amos' thoughts order them to stand down as they're unauthorized, telling Steward of the Guard Dunigan to round up his men or be cut down.

When they don't stand down, Amos says they've gone rogue and to bleed them dry, but soon enough citizens gather with torches and weapons to also march on the barracks, setting fire to the outside! Adventurers rush to put out the fires while staving off dockworkers, blacksmiths, miners, and other citizens with a rallying cry: "Stop the blood witch! Stop the corruption! Kill the krolvin! Bring justice!" The militia try to push them back and Rooks rally to snipe the armigers from the rooftops.

Thadston guards the end of the line--Tyrrax's door--then Amos rushes out to join him. Adventurers convene there to defend the area with them and, after the area is finally safe, Amos tells Thadston this wasn't his command; Thadston says he knows, because Amos would have created a fake persona to not make it so obvious. Amos says Dunigan hasn't answered has thoughts, but has a rich and dark history with the krolvin and he suspects him. Vaemyr raises the possibility of it being Juramis, but Thadston says he's too much of a follower and coward.

Thadston orders Amos to call armigers off the streets until the mess can be sorted, and any seen will be arrested; Amos agrees. Thadston uses a magic ring to ensure that Tyrrax is still inside the cell, which he is. After Amos leaves, Vaemyr says releasing Tyrrax tomorrow might get even worse and asks if there are plans to get back to his ships; Thadston nods and says we'll need everyone's help. He's working on a specific route away from eyes on the street.

Chatter in the Rain

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the translucent Nairena disk, an onyx-nosed fuzzy grey bandicoot, an amber-eyed smoke greatfang, the Meril disk, a dejected forest spirit that is flying around, a blue wolf, the Irval disk, the Warrden disk, the Troyi disk, a golden brown coyote, a grey wolf that is sitting, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, a timber jaguar, a silver-eyed lightning wyrdling, some wolifrew lichen, some wolifrew lichen, a dark brown cap, a rose-marrow potion, a rose-marrow potion, a round silver-banded barrel, an herbal remedy donation bin and some wide stone benches with some stuff on it.

Leafiara says, "Yeah, the goal was to release Tyrrax tomorrow."

Nairena says, "So the dumb giantman was correct after all."

Leafiara skeptically says, "A few minutes until the invoker, in case Kragton does return tonightr."

Leafiara says, "Then again, with all his dispelling sigils, it wouldn't matter."

Gregnal says, "Well."

A warm summer rain descends from the sky, blanketing the rooftops of Wehnimer's Landing in a slick glisten.

Speaking to Gregnal, Tayler says, "You will! Nairena is nice, she teases you because she cares."

Gregnal drunkenly says, "Tonight."

Kialeigh says, "Well damn."

[General] Leafiara notes, "Warm summer rain in the Landing!"

Tayler says, "Beats the normal downpour."

Gregnal drunkenly says, "Tonight."

Kialeigh says, "If something happens I'm running to voln again..."

Speaking drunkenly to Tayler, Gregnal says, "Appreciate you."

Kialeigh says, "Just so you know why I suddenly dash off."

Speaking to Kayse, Tayler says, "You should let just a drop in, it really opens up the nose, no more than a drop though, that's heresy."

Thin, jagged bolts of lightning dance along the sky, arcing about the bottom of the nebulous storm clouds in the distance as a warm rain continues to fall lightly.

Speaking to Lunatick, Kialeigh says, "Paint a rainstorm next."

BOOOOOM! An explosion shakes the area and flames suddenly leap into the sky outside of the town barracks as several townspeople run screaming! Several black-armored figures can be seen rushing towards the town barracks as fires burn wildly!

Speaking to Gregnal, Tayler says, "Still got a little ways to go."

Tayler says, "Oh."

Chandrellia exclaims, "Why is it alwasy the barracks!"

Tayler asks, "That was... the barracks?"

[General] Irval asks, "Check the soon-to-be free prisoner? Might be that they dont know that he is to be released and they are making a play for him? Or an assassination attempt?"

The east-west road continues, closed in on the south by the militia barracks and on the north by the twelve-foot-high wall of the city itself. The occasional thud of leather boots in unison upon cobbled pavement and the clipped shouts of barked orders reverberate off the modwir walls along this part of the road. The scents of leather, weapon oil and hearty cooking fill the night air. You also see the bloodstained Xorus disk with scuffed and dented sides, the Lylia disk, the Meril disk, a crackling fire, a crackling fire, a crackling fire, a crackling fire, a crackling fire, a crackling fire, a crackling fire and the town barracks.

Barely visible beyond the thick iron gate stretches North Ring Road and an expanse of the palisades of Wehnimer's Landing. A large two-story brick building dominates the far end of the courtyard, its roof topped with a black and grey flag. You also see an iron bucket, a black-armored human archer, a black-armored human archer that is lying down, a black-armored human archer, a black-armored human archer that is lying down, an aquamarine gem, an iron bucket, a rune staff, an iron bucket, the palm frond-shaped Leafiara disk, the Tayler disk, the Tynks disk, the Lylia disk, an iron bucket, an iron bucket and a dark wooden table with an iron bucket on it.

Kayse says, "Those aren't armigers." [I think they are due to the black armor and they just have different nouns, but then again, it was a chaotic mess. Creatures with the "armiger" noun came in later and initially had the "watch it, I'm on your side" messaging, but then other armigers came in afterward that were enemies immediately.]

[General] The ghost of Irval thinks, "It doesnt prove Amos is a traitor it just proves that he is pissed off. But I'll admit , this does not look good for Amos. Since the Armigers are essentially extension of him. This is what happens when you decide to avoid a trial I feel. People take justice in to their own hands."

[General] Daavino thinks, "Outside the locksmith."

[General] Amos exclaims, "Stand down Armigers! You are not authorized in any form to undergo this attack!"

[General] The ghost of Chandrellia thinks, "A lil late now Amos."

[General] Kayse hesitantly thinks, "I do not think some of these are Amos' men."

[General] Pukk thinks, "Sure Amos, play innocent. You brought them here and this is what happens when you get your personal militia."

Meril yells, "Why are we fighting?"

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "Amos I think Juramis might be behind this."

Leafiara says, "They've set fire to the barracks."

Leafiara says, "And are trying to overturn the jurors' decision by taking the krolvin for themselves."

Meril exclaims, "Well, is there a krolvin here?!"

Nairena says, "I hear the thoughts that Amos is not happy and these are his thugs."

[General] The ghost of Chandrellia thinks, "Yet is was Amos that brought them here to begin with, to help with his little power struggle."

[General] Leafiara thinks, "We're still fighting in here, for the record, if anyone can spare backup."

[General] The ghost of Irval asks, "He was most distressed with the outcome to free the Krolvin, I mean but he was scared right? So its ok for Scared people to get away with murder and mayhem so long as they are scared?"

[General] Amos thinks, "A faction of the Armigers have gone rogue. They have been warned. Bleed them dry if you must."

[General] Vaemyr asks, "By that logic Chandrellia, then all these problems are the Mayor and councilors faults cause you failed to have them removed, see where that goes?"

Loud grumbling begins to fill the streets of town as dozens of townspeople, sour looks on their faces, and weapons in hand, begin to converge upon North Ring Road, torches burning bright as they march towards the barracks.

Nairena says, "I dont think Amos liked the outcome."

Leafiara says, "It seems others didn't either."

[combat]

The voice of Kayse firmly says, "He just said a group went rogue."

[combat]

[General] The ghost of Irval thinks, "It justifies everything apparently. Hence the freeing of the Krolvin, The alleged protection and what not of Kharusa's because she was scared and blew peoples heads off. But thats ok, she was scared too right? People must be held accountable for ones actions. Subverting the rule of law leads to vigilantism."

Amos glances at a tall crystalline door.

Irval monotonously says, "Defeated our enemy, Are they? Or are they just pissed off because we released the Krolvin without him being sentenced for his crimes. Essentially colluding with the enemy. If I had to guess. This faction of Armigers and who paid them off is just showing their frustration with the events a few days past."

Nairena says, "Clearly some of our enemies or those who would like to see different results reside inside these town walls."

Leafiara says, "Much as I hate to say it, unless Dunigan confesses to this, there's no proof it was him either."

Lylia continues, "And for Amos to stand alongside you in doing so is praiseworthy too. We have all had a knife turn and cut us as we held it; the armigers are no different there."

Thadston touches a ring to the crystalline door. Its thick opaque surface grows translucent for just a moment, and Tyrrax can be seen on the other side, perched in the corner, hands upon his knees as if ready to strike. The crystalline surface of the door seals back up.

Speaking to Kayse, Pukk says, "I'm hoping that would be a yes."

Speaking to Thadston, Vaemyr says, "We were all curious."

Speaking to Pukk, Tayler exclaims, "I was injured!"

Speaking to a tall crystalline door, Xorus says, "Even the Xorus was there saving your life, Czag Pritz."

Speaking to Flittacat, Goldstr says, "Maybe when we get her father back."

Speaking monotonously to Kayse, Irval says, "A trial for someone that feels that the decision to free Tyrrax was obviously wrong, but not the Krolvin himself. That is....laughable. im sorry if I seem bitter. But all these deaths I feel could of been avoided."

Speaking to Thadston, Vaemyr asks, "I suspect things might be even worse tomorrow night when we try and release him, do we have any actual plan for him to get back to his people?"

Irval monotonously says, "How many townspeople who lost loved ones you think picked up and joined in the attempt to put down Tyrrax tonight I wonder..."
