A portable gnomish press (also called a wine press or cedar press) is a portable press that can be used to make wine from grapes, berries, and other ingredients, and cider from apples. Unlike stationary gnomish presses, this version is portable. It is considered an auction quality item.
Portable gnomish presses were first released as a gnomish clockwork wine press during the Festival of the Fallen in 2015. Auction quality wine presses are capable of making a wide variety of wines, which vary depending on the grape, berry, fruit, or plant used. They have since been updated to allow for switching between wine press and cider press modes. Cider presses are similarly capable of making a wide variety of ciders, depending on the type or color of apple used.
Wine PressAnalyze
You analyze the clockwork wine press and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions, but the creator has stated that "The item type should not change."
The creator has also provided the following information:
This is an auction quality portable wine press. It requires ingredients to work properly. POKE it to switch between making wine and cider. Place an ingredient (such as grapes, apples, or fruits) in the press and TURN it to make wine. It can be further customized to create a unique label for your wine bottles or cider jugs. Since this is a gnomish mechanical device, it may "clog" from time to time. You must then FIX the press before it can be used again. CLEANING the machine regularly will prevent clogs.
VERBS unlocked for this press are: POKE, FIX, CLEAN, RUB, SLAP, TICKLE, PRAISE, GAZE, and TURN.
This press is currently set to create wine.
Wine Recipes can be produced from the follow fruits:

Berries: blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, elderberries, strawberries, strawberry, winterberries

A bulbous copper boiler sits directly below the tub, occasionally releasing puffs of steam with a soft whistle. A small crank juts out to one side.
Public Presses
Stationary gnomish presses can be used to create a local wine or cider from the appropriate ingredients. They typically require a fee to use and can only make wine or cider, not both. Some may have additional restrictions on the type of wine produced.
Products
Different wines, champagnes, or ciders can be created depending on what is used as an ingredient and if the press is in wine press or cider press mode.
Wines have a default LOOK/SHOW description and read of:

The sweetness of brown sugar soothes the tartness of the hot apple cider, but does little to mellow the capsaicin bite of chilies infusing the drink. This hot beverage is perfectly balanced between the sour flavor of green apples and sweet brown sugar, with an added layer of heat provided by red chilies.

In contrast to its murky dark hue, the hot cider's flavors are sharp and clear. The mellowness of ripe apples gives the drink its full body, while a generous pour of molasses adds depth and bright notes of cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger lend an aromatic bite. A dash of black pepper creates an impression of lasting warmth at the finish. Made with fully ripened fruit, the dark cider bursts with robust flavor that stands up to generous lashings of cinnamon, allspice, and mace. Tannic apple predominates at first taste but soon gives way to hints of fig and black plum.

A warm cascade of spiced cider slips over your tongue, its viscous heat curling like a blanket around your senses. The brightness of oranges peeks through, tempering the earthy depth of cinnamon sticks and clove. Nutmeg and cardamom leave a lingering warmth, a savory echo that feels like winter distilled into a single sip. The cider rolls thick and slow over your palate, its warmth laced with the tang of citrus that hums beneath the surface.
