System-based titles
A variety of systems automatically provide access to certain titles. The requirements to access them vary depending on the system.
Level-Based Titles
Level-based titles are the primary prename titles available to characters and are accessed via TITLE LIST PRENAME. They are attained by achieving specific levels in game. Prior to the GemStone IV conversion, only the Lord and Lady titles existed upon reaching level 20, and achieving this status, which was referred to as Titling, was considered a significant accomplishment. The present day game finds a more expanded title system but also a lessening of the importance associated with titling.
Titles prior to level 20 are only available during those levels. Titles from level 20 onward are always available once they have been attained.

Culture Titles
One section of the title system offers various cultures as a title option. Unlike the other title options, cultural titles cannot be freely changed! Choosing a culture here as a title will convert your character to that culture, allowing access to that culture's title and removing access to all other cultural title options. This is a semi-permanent decision that requires a special item available only through SimuCoins or as a rare prize in (paid) Quests to change.
Very rarely, a free use of a culture reset is issued when new cultures become available to a character's race. Past examples of this include the introduction of Survivors and Castaways of Caligos Isle following the conclusion of Ebon Gate's 2021 run and the introduction of Evashir as a new culture for dark elves in 2023.
Available cultural titles are dependent on a character's race. They are accessed via TITLE LIST CULTURE. While some cultural titles are available to more than one race, most are race-specific. A small handful of cultures also provide access to expanded language system options, such as the Tehir language for humans and half-elves who select the culture or the Dhe'nar language for Dhe'nar dark elves and Khanshael dwarves.
After selecting a culture, the cultural title can be displayed or hidden via FLAG or SET SHOWCULTURE [ON/OFF].
In most cases, the cultural title appears immediately before or after the race when LOOKing at a character. Certain races have additional options for displaying their culture. Elves that have selected either the Ardenai, Illistim, Loenthra, Nalfein or Vaalor cultures and dark elves that have selected the Faendryl culture can choose to display their House name immediately after the character's surname. This is done via FLAG or SET SHOWCLTRSURNAME [ON/OFF]. The character must have a surname and must also display the surname (FLAG or SET SHOWLASTNAME [ON/OFF]) in order to display the House name in this way.

Society Titles
Unique postname titles are available for those who are members or masters of the different societies in game. Each society has its own titles and criteria for accessing them. Due to the nature of the society, titles associated with the Council of Light are only visible to other members when displayed. They are accessed via TITLE LIST SKILL.

Adventurer's Guild Titles
Titles awared through the Adventurer's Guild are postname titles. They are earned based on the number of specific tasks completed or based on how many bounty points a character earns. Failures count against the total. For example, someone with 500 escorts completed, but 15 failed, will have to complete 15 more escorts successfully before attaining the Bodyguard title. They are accessed via TITLE LIST BOUNTY.

Open Sea Adventures Titles
Sailing the high seas using the Open Sea Adventures system allows access to several titles. They include both prename and postname title options. They are accessed via TITLE LIST QUEST-PRE and QUEST-POST.

Reim Titles
Titles can be earned by reaching certain achievements in the Settlement of Reim. Except for the temporary title, they are accessed via TITLE LIST UNIQUE.

Artisan Skill Titles
Completing various Artisan skill tasks will earn you different artisan skill postname titles. They are accessed via TITLE LIST ARTISAN.

Painting Titles
A unique postname title is available upon mastering the painting skill associated with an Artist's Easel of any tier level. It is accessed via TITLE LIST UNIQUE.
