Weaving tools are a collection of tools that allow you to create weavable items from a wide variety of treasure system or other found objects. While not necessary to use the weaving system, they enable you to use a wider variety of materials for weaving. Each tool type is capable of turning a certain category into a weavable item, such as the awl for feathers or the scissors for ribbons. |
Weaving tools are often sold at events like Ebon Gate. The Evermore Hollow shop The Witching Flower sells all of the available tools plus additional items related to the weaving system. The lathe can be unlocked with a certificate from Quinton Manse, also at Evermore Hollow. |

A lathe can carve a gemstone to convert it into a weavable item. When first released, lathes had no tiers and converted gems into beads with no other options available, however later updates added greater functionality, including a second tier that can be unlocked via certificate. Older lathes are automatically converted by using ANALYZE on them. Beads are still available as a noun for unlocked lathes. |

Most treasure system gems can be worked on by a lathe. Gem replicas created via the Bugs on Parade, Life Aquatic, and Jeepers Creepers systems also work. |

Special Handling Items: |
Some gemstones (based on their special nature) will either not be allowed for use at all, will have special handling, or will have specific restrictions. Some of those restrictions are: |
Agita |
These will only ever have the noun of agita. |
Glass |
Any gem fashioned of glass or seaglass will have the glass or seaglass moved into the adjective field. Whenever possible, the color will move with it. They can either retain their noun OR will default to bead; other nouns are available. |
Insects, Sea Critters, and Such |
These types of gemstones have restrictions. Their noun can only be: (gemstone noun), bead, or bauble. |
Metal Gemstones |
This category includes the following: aranthium-bloom, dust, faenor-bloom, mithril-bloom, nugget, pyrite, razern-bloom, rhimar-bloom, tanzanite, titanite, vultite-bloom. |
All of the above may only have the noun of bead. Where applicable, the "-bloom," "dust", and "nugget" will be dropped and the metal base will remain in the adjective field. You may customize with article options. |
Organics |
This category includes the following: chrysalis, crescent, cube, egg, eye, fang, fishscale, sandsilver, spur, star, talon, and tusk. |
All of the above will only ever be allowed to have the noun and adjective that is innate to them. You may customize with article options. |
Pearls |
These will only ever have the noun of pearl. |
Saewehna |
These will only ever have the noun of saewehna. |
Shells and Mother-of-Pearl |
These items now have the option to be a spacer or bar using SPIN. If spacer or bar is used then they will appear (shell adjective) (spacer/bar). You may leave the article natural or select from your options. |
Mother-of-Pearl will have the noun of "fragment" if left natural but may also have "spacer" or "bar". |
Stones |
These items include the following: bluerock, coral, feldspar, and stone. They can either retain their gemstone noun OR will default to bead. |
Wood |
These items include the following: driftwood, haon, maoral, modwir, thanot, and wyrmwood. These items will default to bead if a noun isn't selected. The adjective will always be the noun of the gemstone. Wood items cannot be nodules, therefore, they will default to bead. |
Forbidden Pieces |
The following items cannot be turned into weaving items: ambergis, plinite, and salt. |

AwlAn awl can pierce a feather to convert it into a weavable item. Eligible feathers include those dropped by wizard familiars as well as NPC animals, like the toucan and parrot on Mist Harbor. Feathers found via a Jeepers Creepers Spyglass also work.
You analyze the polished steel awl and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions, but the creator has stated that "The item has restrictions on changing the noun." The creator has also provided the following information: This is a tool that can be used to change a feather into a weaving item. POKE the feather with the awl. This polished steel awl may be altered with either a long or show description. The noun cannot change. The material it is made out of may be changed, but it must remain something metallic. It can also be rubbed.
LatheA lathe can carve a gemstone to convert it into a weavable item.
You analyze the pine-handled lathe and sense that the creator has provided the following information: A small pine-handled lathe with a sharpened iron tip is a tool used to transform a gemstone into a weaving item. Directions: POINT {my} lathe at {my} <gemstone>: Gives a preview of all settings with the current gemstone. CUT {my} <gemstone> with {my} lathe: Creates the weaving item based on the settings. Settings: You analyze the pine-handled lathe and sense that the creator has provided the following information: Special Handling Items: Some gemstones (based on their special nature) will either not be allowed for use at all, will have special handling, or will have specific restrictions. Some of those restrictions are: Agita These will only ever have the noun of agita. Glass Any gem fashioned of glass or seaglass will have the glass or seaglass moved into the adjective field. Whenever possible, the color will move with it. They can either retain their noun OR will default to bead; other nouns are available. Insects, Sea Critters, and Such These types of gemstones have restrictions. Their noun can only be: (gemstone noun), bead, or bauble. Metal Gemstones This category includes the following: aranthium-bloom, dust, faenor-bloom, mithril-bloom, nugget, pyrite, razern-bloom, rhimar-bloom, tanzanite, titanite, vultite-bloom. All of the above may only have the noun of bead. Where applicable, the "-bloom," "dust", and "nugget" will be dropped and the metal base will remain in the adjective field. You may customize with article options. Organics This category includes the following: chrysalis, crescent, cube, egg, eye, fang, fishscale, sandsilver, spur, star, talon, and tusk. All of the above will only ever be allowed to have the noun and adjective that is innate to them. You may customize with article options. Pearls These will only ever have the noun of pearl. Saewehna These will only ever have the noun of saewehna. Shells and Mother-of-Pearl These items now have the option to be a spacer or bar using SPIN. If spacer or bar is used then they will appear (shell adjective) (spacer/bar). You may leave the article natural or select from your options. Mother-of-Pearl will have the noun of "fragment" if left natural but may also have "spacer" or "bar". Stones These items include the following: bluerock, coral, feldspar, and stone. They can either retain their gemstone noun OR will default to bead. Wood These items include the following: driftwood, haon, maoral, modwir, thanot, and wyrmwood. These items will default to bead if a noun isn't selected. The adjective will always be the noun of the gemstone. Wood items cannot be nodules, therefore, they will default to bead. Forbidden Pieces The following items cannot be turned into weaving items: ambergis, plinite, and salt.
You analyze the steel-tipped lathe and sense that the creator has provided the following information: A small steel-tipped lathe with a hoarbeam handle is a tool used to transform a gemstone into a weaving item. Directions: FLIP lathe: Cycles through nouns available to qualifying gemstones. Stock Settings: bead, bauble, disk, nodule, orb SPIN lathe: (For Shells and Mother-of-pearl ONLY) Cycles through the nouns of shell, spacer, or bar. TURN lathe: Cycles through available articles for qualifying gemstones. Stock Settings: a carved, a silver-chased, a gold-chased, a rune-incised, a faceted. (Note about faceted: Stones, shells, and mother-of-pearl will become "a smooth," while insects, birds, and sea critters will become "a crystallized." POINT {my} lathe at {my} <gemstone>: Gives a preview of all settings with the current gemstone. CUT {my} <gemstone> with {my} lathe: Creates the weaving item based on the settings. Settings:
ScissorsScissors can trim a ribbon to convert it into a weavable item. Eligible ribbons include those found randomly as part of the treasure system. Plain ribbons made by a Ribbonator 2000 also work.
You analyze the sterling silver scissors and sense that the creator has provided the following information: A pair of sterling silver scissors inlaid with mother-of-pearl can be used to turn bolts of fabric or ribbon that is unscripted into items that can be woven. You analyze your sterling silver scissors and sense that it may be altered with either a long or show description. Based on the design, you realize that changing the noun would be impossible. While the material it is made out of may be changed, you sense that making it anything other than metallic would be useless and would weaken the integrity of the scissors. You get no sense of whether or not the scissors may be further lightened.
ShearsShears can cut a creature's pelt to convert it into a weavable item. A single pelt can yield multiple weavable items. Cutting a pelt will cause the multiple converted pelt weavable items to be placed inside a worn container. Eligible pelts include those acquired via skinning creatures. Only soft skinned objects work with the shears, such as pelts and skins. Hard skinned objects, such as carapaces, knuckles, and shells, do not work with the shears.
You analyze the oak-handled shears and sense that the creator has provided the following information: A pair of oak-handled shears can be used to turns strips of skinning items into items that can be woven. You analyze your oak-handled shears and sense that it may be altered with either a long or show description. Based on the design, you realize that changing the noun would be impossible. While the material it is made out of may be changed, you sense that making it anything other than metallic would be useless and would weaken the integrity of the shears. You get no sense of whether or not the shears may be further lightened.
SnipsSnips can trim a foraged plant to convert it into a weavable item. Eligible plants include most foraged items, such as flowers, leaves, grass, moss, bark, and twigs. Foraged items from a Foraged Item Prop can also work. Edible foraged items, which includes all herbs, do not work with the snips.
You analyze the slender snips and sense that the creator has provided the following information: A pair of slender snips with sturdy oak handles can be used to turn foraged items into items that can be woven. You analyze your slender snips and sense that it may be altered with either a long or show description. Based on the design, you realize that changing the noun would be impossible. While the material it is made out of may be changed, you sense that making it anything other than metallic would be useless and would weaken the integrity of the snips. You get no sense of whether or not the snips may be further lightened.
Weaving Tool BeltThe weaving tool belt is a lightly scripted belt that is capable of storing weaving tools inside of it. It cannot store anything else. A weaving tool belt can store one type of each tool inside. It has a variety of customization fields for the different storage loops for each of the weaving tool types.
You analyze your suede belt and sense that it may be altered with either a long or show description. Based on the design, you realize that changing the noun would be impossible. While the material it is made out of may be changed, you sense that it is pliable, and should never be solid metal. The buckle's adjective field can be customized. The awl-pocket, scissor-sheath, shears-hook, snip-loops, and lathe-ties may be customized with an adjective field only. On the suede belt you see a silver buckle. On the right side, you see the slim awl-pocket and the rawhide lathe-ties, while on the left, you see the metal shears-hook, the suede scissors-sheath, and the thin snip-loops.
