Niatha, also known as the Scarlet Temptress of Ivas, was involved with the release of the Den of Rot near Icemule Trace in 5120.
Several years later, Niatha reemerged as a influential figure in the Nations on the Brink storyline. Ultimately it was revealed that she was behind many of the tragedies that befell western Elanthia in the Turamzzyrian Empire. She had kidnapped, tortured, and killed the aged healer Grenhal sometime in late 5122, posing as Grenhal to gain easy access to Baron Dunrith Malwind, unto whom she passed a virulent disease that withstood traditional treatment.
In Fashanos 5123, several present during a sea voyage escorting Sayilla Javilerre to Tamzyrr saw glimpses of a woman matching Niatha's description shortly after Steward Jarnsaixa Vargrdoittr was stabbed with a poisoned blade by someone appearing as Grenhal. The false Grenhal also attacked Sayilla, who was ultimately thrown overboard into the frigid waters. Niatha, who had been posing as Grenhal on the ship, jumped overboard and eventually made her way back to land some time later. The poison Niatha used on Jarnsiaxa festered for months afterward before a cure was finally found.
In Imaerasta, correspondence between Niatha and Thaiagol Razan-Dhur was uncovered in both Solhaven and Ta'Illistim that confirmed Niatha's involvement in the attack on Sayilla as well as her affiliation with the Dusk Coven. Grenhal's corpse was also located in Solhaven, confirming that the woman who had appeared as Grenhal earlier that year was not the real healer but instead Niatha in disguise. Rumors circulated following the eruption at Glaoveln that a red-haired woman clad all in green was seen sailing away, and that she may have made port in an island beset by plague. Captain Kimrella de'Naut eventually located the island, and Magister Odelgarde Brindlestraffe, aided by adventurers, traveled there via wizard gate where they found the inhabitants under the influence of a highly contagious plague. They also found Niatha, who was captured surprisingly easily. Upon their return to the mainland, in spite of careful precautions, the Green Death spread quickly across Elanthia, with many alchemists scrambling to produce enough of the antidote. The next day, Niatha was placed aboard a ship bound for the Elven Nations so that she would stand trial for her crimes against House Illistim.
