Description

You are able to exert yourself and perform an attack much quicker than normal.

Mechanics

Reduces the roundtime for one swing with a penalty to Attack Strength. Can be used in an unarmed attack by specifying the unarmed attack type (e.g. "cman qstrike kick kobold").

Additional Information

At rank 5 the AS penalty is eliminated. This cman also functions with two weapon combat and closed fist attacks. There is an increasing stamina cost with higher weapon base speeds.

Characters in the Striking Asp Stance can perform quickstrikes with less of a stamina cost.

3 -10 -2 sec
4 -5 -2 sec
5 0 -3 sec

Stamina Cost

Quickstrike has a minimum stamina cost of 8 and a maximum of 25. Costs within this range are determined by the weapon's base speed. In the case of two weapon combat, both weapon base speeds are factored into the calculation.

For weapons with a base speed of 5 or less, a stamina penalty of +2 per second of base speed is applied. For example, a player swinging a longsword (base speed +4) will incur a stamina cost of 16.

8 base + (2 × 4) penalty = 16 stamina

For weapons with a base speed greater than 5, an increasing penalty of 1 stamina per base speed over 5 seconds is applied. For example, an attack with a katana gripped with two hands (base speed of +6) will incur a stamina cost of 21.

8 base + (2 × 5) + (3 × 1) = 21

Stamina Cost Table

This table lists the stamina cost for each weapon base speed.

Weapon
Base Speed
Stamina Cost
1 sec 10*
2 sec 12
3 sec 14
4 sec 16
5 sec 18
6 sec 21
≥ 7 sec 25

*There is no additional weapon base speed penalty with closed fist attacks, therefore, only the base (8 stamina) cost applies.

Two Weapon Combat

When wielding dual weapons the base speed value to determine stamina cost is calculated as follows:

1 + primary weapon base speed + [(round up)secondary weapon's base speed ÷ 2]

Use this value in the base speed column in the above table to determine the stamina cost.

Example 1

Primary Weapon: Scimitar (base speed 4 sec)
Secondary Weapon: Rapier (base speed 2 sec)

1 + 4 + (2 ÷ 2) = 6 sec. base speed

From the table above a 6 sec. weapon base speed has a stamina cost of 21.

Example 2

If the weapons in EX. 1 are swapped the combined weapon base speed used to calculate stamina cost would be:

1 + 2 + (4 ÷ 2) = 5 sec. base speed

In this example, the 5 sec. weapon base speed will have a stamina cost of 18.
