Mystic Focus (1711)

|
Mystic Focus makes a person more attuned to the arcane, providing them with new insight into spells. The resulting bonus is a boost to the caster's Casting Strength for all spell types. Because lower level characters have the most to learn about spells, they receive the greatest benefit, using a formula of (30 - caster level) with a minimum of +10 CS.
Warding spells from the Elemental (MnE, MjE, Bard)† and Sorcerer spheres receive a further bonus based on the caster's Magic Item Use or Arcane Symbols skill, depending on whether Mystic Focus was cast from a magic item or a scroll. The Elemental CS bonus is a base +25 CS if the caster has at least 25 ranks of MIU or AS, with an additional +1 CS for every two skill ranks above 25 up to a maximum of +50 CS at 75 ranks. The Sorcerer CS bonus is a base +13 CS at 25 ranks, with an additional +1 bonus for every four skill ranks above 25 up to a maximum of +25 CS at 73 ranks. The Elemental/Sorcerer sphere bonus does not stack with Elemental Targeting (425).
This spell can commonly be found in heavy quartz orbs. It is activated by rubbing the orb.
† Elemental spells include Wizard Base, but as there are no Wizard Base warding spells, this bonus is not applicable.
