Empathic Link is an open cast spell that creates a link between any targets that fail a warding roll, lasting for 60 seconds. While in effect, this link causes all affected targets to have a chance to take the same damage/critical whenever one of the targets is hit by the original caster of the Empathic Link. (Damage from other sources, or from non-critical instant death effects, are not propagated.)
The number of targets that can be affected per cast depends on training in Mental Mana Control, with a minimum of three possible targets. If the spell is recast before the effect expires, it will prioritize targets that are not yet linked.
The base chance of propagating damage to the linked creatures is 50%, increased with training in Mental Lore Telepathy. Propagation is independently rolled for each linked target. In addition, training in Telepathy Lore will provide a chance to cause electrical damage to the targets.
The mana cost for Empathic Link is 17, plus an additional 5 mana for each target beyond the second.
Propagated criticals will have the same damage type and location of the first hit. The critical rank will be identical if the target does not have critical padding, otherwise it may have diminished effect.
Usage
- PREP 1117 | CAST or INCANT 1117 to cast this spell against against anything not grouped to the caster. For INCANT, a target must be visible in the room
- INCANT 1117 OPEN to open cast this spell once using INCANT (when a target is not visible)
- INCANT SET OPEN 1117 to always open cast this spell using INCANT 1117
Mana Control Benefit
Multi-target spells and abilities choose targets based on the following criteria, unless specified otherwise:
- Multi-target spells activated by players via CAST and CHANNEL will not target other players. This includes both grouped and ungrouped players.
- All multi-target spells offer an option to EVOKE the spell, which will possibly hit other players. This version still prioritizes creatures unless directly targeting another player.
- All multi-target spells have a starting maximum targets of 3. This is increased by 1 additional target for every 50 Mana Control Skill Bonus associated with the spell circle.
As the Empath Base circle uses both Spiritual Mana Control (SMC) and Mental Mana Control (MMC), the multi-target Mana Control skill bonus is calculated as:
- Mana Control skill bonus = (higher of SMC and MMC) + (lower of SMC and MMC)/2

Link Overload
Telepathy Lore provides a chance of (skill bonus ÷ 5)% to overload a link after casting the spell. This will cause electrical damage to one of the targets that was successfully warded, which will then travel through the link to the others.
