Synopsis
Future Baron Elidal hosts a feast in the Hendoran outpost to negotiate something in return for Wehnimer's Landing in exchange for the protection of his coming caravans.
When Councilor Vaemyr asks about the Empire issuing a decree recognizing the Landing's independence and self-governance to ease concerns, Elidal says he doesn't expect the Earl to revisit the Landing's protectorate status.
When Councilor Kayse asks about aid with defeating Gnul, Elidal says he can't significantly help yet, as he currently has few soldiers.
When Chamorr asks about payment for defending the caravans, Elidal says he prefers to come to other arrangements.
When Kayse asks about leaving Rodnay unharmed, Elidal says he cannot and will not make promises regarding him and compares the request that he blindly shield him to a request to ignore the threat in the Deadfall.
When Kayse asks about leaving the Obsidian Tower alone, Elidal says he's sure a mutual agreement can be reached in the future and no one is looking to uproot them.
When Kayse asks what Elidal is willing to negotiate, he says protection for the settlers. She clarifies, asking what the Landing will get out of it. He says they'll be in need of weapons and, while they could turn to the warlords of Jantalar, he offers authorization for 40% of his people's weapon purchases to go to Landing smiths if protection of the Darkstonian settlers is provided.
Kayse asks about other contracts in the future and he says in the future, but for now he thought one request for one agreement fair (that being the protection of the caravans). Vaemyr says he thinks the deal is good business, but that some in the Landing will view it as arming invaders (the Empire). Elidal says they're not invaders and he doesn't look to convince those who won't believe him, but instead convince the logical citizens and fair-minded over time.
Having made his offer, he asks that the town council bring it to Mayor Thadston and hold a vote: "For your assistance in protecting future caravans, I will authorize forty percent of our weapon purchases made from your local smiths."
Councilor Kiyna asks for clarification on this being a deal for protection of all coming caravans after Elidal earlier said one agreement for one action; he says yes, otherwise they'd only be buying forty percent of the weapons for a day. Vaemyr asks if the numbers are negotiable, as he'll want expert analysis before reaching decision; Elidal says potentially, but advises that his initial offer has been generous.
Highlights
Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "What are you willing to negotiate this evening?" Elidal says, "Protection for the settlers arriving via caravans." Speaking flatly to Elidal, Kayse says, "I meant our end of the deal."
Chamorr heartily says, "Now the empire is inspecting our merchants." Chamorr heartily says, "How did that work on da docks." Lylia dryly remarks, "I inspect every merchant at which I might buy something." Lylia says, "If that is suspicious activity, I am a wanted woman at every boutique this side of the Dragonspine." Speaking to Lylia, Guarrin says, "I suppose that makes two of us."
Chamorr heartily says, "Ya all need lessons in negotiating." Mourdeyan quietly asks, "Who's negotiatin?" Speaking heartily to Mourdeyan, Chamorr says, "Exactly."
Speaking to Chamorr, Bellaja says, "Actually, several offers of dealings were made before he had even elaborated on his needs and offer." Speaking to Chamorr, Bellaja says, "Didn't even wait to hear what he wanted and offering deals, some of them." Speaking to herself, Bellaja says, "And the cost of life."
Kayse recalls, "As I said the other evening, show us we are not expendable." Elidal says, "No living person between us is expendable." Lylia says, "Not being expendable and feeling valued are two rather different things. I do see whence the concern, and I believe you do too." Elidal says, "A concern I look forward to celebrating with you all when it lessens." Tikba wryly says, "I fear the first step is to stop being expended."
Log
Awaiting Elidal
[Hendoran Outpost, War Room]
The room is bare but for a long conference table and a number of chairs pushed under it while not in use. Situated in the middle of the table is a map of Wehnimer's Landing and nearby environs. Neatly lined up on one side of the map are a set of miniatures depicting Hendoran troops and potential enemies. Near a small window rests an empty gilded birdcage. You also see the web-draped Missoni disk, the Guarrin disk, the repousse copper Perigourd disk raised in leafy designs, the Elliathe disk, a long wooden table with some stuff on it, a huge metal-framed slate hanging on a nearby wall and a set of large wooden doors.
Tikba says, "I hope you are well, Magister."
Speaking to Tikba, Raelee says, "The night is young, yet."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Raelee, why ye no readin a book?"
Speaking to Raelee, Perigourd says, "Surprised we haven't been stabbed yet."
Missoni looks at Perigourd with concern.
Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd reminds, "The North."
Missoni slowly says, "Ah, yes."
Speaking to Perigourd, Raelee says, "Here or in the North? They seem equally likely at this point."
Perigourd says, "I suppose."
Speaking to Perigourd, Vaemyr says, "I was gonna ask, by Rooks or by the demon things up north, but I guess you clarified haha."
Speaking to Vaemyr, Perigourd says, "So many possibilities."
Several squires and runners arrive, carrying more food and drink onto the table and then slipping off.
Missoni murmurs, "Does this mean we can eat?"
Vaemyr says, "Gonna just say help yourselves."
Evialla says, "I shall wait for our host."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "It impolite to eat before hosht git ere."
Speaking to Missoni, Guarrin says, "I would wait for our..."
Guarrin nods in agreement at Evialla.
Vaemyr says, "Elidal should be around soonish, but he wouldn't want us just sitting around starving."
Alosaka says, "Well, you can have finger-foods."
Kiyna says, "Elidal doesn't care about such things, he's said as much."
Alosaka says, "And drinks, certainly."
Missoni cheerfully says, "Just a cider."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "You people shum kinna turdip farmtersh?"
Speaking to Vaemyr, Alosaka asks, "Is that alcoholic?"
Speaking to Gutstorm, Perigourd says, "Among other produce."
Tikba says, "I am sure our host would not want us to be parched."
Guarrin says, "We do have an orchard."
Speaking to Alosaka, Vaemyr says, "Not that I can tell at least."
Feast
Lord Elidal just arrived.
Elidal smiles.
Elidal waves.
Speaking cheerfully to Elidal, Missoni greets, "Lord Elidal."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Evening, we appreciate the gracious invitation."
Speaking to Elidal, Evialla says, "Good evening Lord Dhenin."
Speaking in Giantman, Irval says something you don't understand.
Elidal says, "You are quite welcome. I am equally grateful for your attendance."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me take one dem smoochesh, Lylia."
(Gutstorm taps his cheek.)
Kiyna asks, "So now that he's here, we can stop awkwardly standing around the table, not eating, yes?"
Elidal asks, "Oh, you waited?"
Elidal chuckles.
Elidal says, "Yes, please dig in."
Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "Yes, thank you for the invitation."
Speaking to Elidal, Irval asks, "Ya mean it?"
Speaking to Elidal, Evialla asks, "I made a pie, if it is alright to share it?"
Speaking to Elidal, Elliathe says, "Thank you for such a wonderful spread, M'Lord."
Elidal says, "I appreciate your waiting. But, formalities are not something I cling to."
Elidal nods at Evialla.
Elidal says, "Sure."
Speaking to Elidal, Missoni says, "Thank you ever so."
Evialla says, "Pecan."
Evialla says, "I hope its not burned."
Speaking casually to Elidal, Guarrin mentions, "They do have their purpose."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Good to hear."
Elidal says, "Breshon let me know he has feasted with you all in here before."
Elidal gazes in wonder at his surroundings.
Elidal says, "The room is so...bare."
Vaemyr says, "We've had a few feasts here..."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me may needa take up occapantry in here."
Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "I imagine to make room for the armor."
Speaking to Elidal, Raelee says, "... and banners of Thadston Andrews still hang outside."
Vaemyr asks, "The last I think... was with Barom Slim?" [That was the last feast, if I recall, but he held that in his own location.]
Speaking to Elidal, Bellaja says, "It is only an outpost, to be fair."
Evialla says, "Lovely table, very grateful to enjoy good food with good company."
Irval exclaims, "It is a bit drab and dreary at that especially with the snow outside? You got anyone in mind that might be able to liven things up! Wait I know I got an idea!"
Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "It's a war room, right? It's tactically designed with nothing in it, so you've nothing to destroy when you're losing and frustrated."
Elidal grins at Kiyna.
Speaking to Evialla, Missoni says, "Hear, hear."
Elidal says, "I suppose you're right."
Irval exclaims, "Oh nos!"
Elidal nods at Kiyna.
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "You would understand especially why there are not windows in here, once you realize Thadston spent a lot of time in here."
Tikba wryly says, "Perhaps the war room is so empty because we hope the future will be peaceful."
Vaemyr says, "Or rather not windows that fit chairs."
Elidal says, "Hmm, an inside jest I am unsure of at this time."
Vaemyr grins.
Elidal nods.
Lylia explains, "He has a habit of defenestration."
Alosaka says, "When you meet Thadston it will make more sense."
Kiyna says, "In Thadston's defense, he's been good. I haven't seen it since the old council ousted Amos."
Irval exclaims, "Ahah!"
Speaking to Kiyna, Vaemyr says, "Now he just explodes into anti-magic bursts instead..."
Irval exclaims, "To liven things up!"
Irval raises his crystal skull skyward!
Speaking to Kiyna, Perigourd says, "He took some of it out punching krolvin ships."
Irval carefully places his crystal skull on the floor alongside him.
Elidal grins.
Elidal walks over to the chair and settles down.
Speaking to Alosaka, Evialla says, "Oh my, that looks delicious."
Elidal says, "But please, help yourself."
Speaking to Perigourd, Kiyna says, "He came up to the pylon I was manning at the time and took all that energy somewhere. Those poor ships."
Lylia admits, "I already did. The cinnamon chocolate lured me. I could not resist."
Elidal nods.
Elidal pours himself a mug of cinnamon coffee.
Speaking to Lylia, Stormyrain murmurs, "Try it with the croissant."
Elidal says, "Cinnamon is my favorite."
Elidal takes a drink from his cinnamon coffee.
Speaking to Kiyna, Tikba says, "It was an interesting introduction."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Good taste at least."
Missoni agrees, "Cinnamon is delightful."
Yardie confusedly asks, "Was...was I supposed to dress up?"
Speaking to Elidal, Lylia says, "You are speaking my language. It is one of my favorite spices as well, along with cardamom."
Speaking to Lylia, Evialla says, "There is fresh baked pie on the table, on the little tin plate, if you have a sweet tooth."
Goldstr says, "Tankee Sir for havin us to dis fine dinner."
Speaking to Lylia, Elliathe says, "The croissants pair well with the hot chocolate."
Speaking drunkenly to Raelee, Gutstorm slurs, "Shettle down, ye got play hardta git wit deez royal typesh."
Speaking to Yardie, Alosaka says, "It's a 'come-as-you-are' sort of feast."
Lylia replies, "Most of my teeth are sweet."
Speaking to Evialla, Yardie says, "Pie? Oh now I feel I should have brought something to make."
Chamorr heartily says, "They feed ya so ya hasta put yer weapon away."
Speaking to Gutstorm, Raelee says, "... no playing is necessary, Gutstorm."
Kayse affably greets, "Fair evening all....and Eli."
Speaking to Elliathe, Lylia says, "Have one; you shall not be sorry."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Sho... me git right to it, who we tackin firsht?"
Elidal says, "I see most town councilors are in attendance as well, that is good."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "So, tonight is a nice feast, but I hear you might also wish to have some discussions this evening."
Vaemyr nods at Elidal.
Elidal nods at Vaemyr.
Elidal takes a drink from his cinnamon coffee.
Lylia says, "All the serious ones, at least."
Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "Quite the spice in that coffee. I know a Wizardess whose got an equal appreciatiation for cinnamon."
Concerns and the Coming Caravans
Elidal says, "We're expecting more caravans in the future. There's dangers of course, waiting for their arrival. We've seen this."
Vaemyr says, "Indeed."
Bellaja asks, "Is there an estimation how many settlers there will be?"
Evialla says, "As if winter travel was not harsh enough."
Elidal says, "I wouldn't hope to ask for your assistance in providing a manner of protection, without some mutual benefit of course."
Elidal says, "I want to always support cooperation."
Bellaja says, "I have hear a lot of speculation walking about."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Ye mean hazard pay?"
Elidal says, "So, I am listening, councilors...and whomever."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "It is good to hear you say this."
Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "Your brother protected the outpost from Gnul's forced the last attack, no?"
Speaking heartily to Elidal, Chamorr says, "Zackly, how many caravans ya sendin."
Thrassus says, "My thanks."
Kayse corrects, "Forces."
Lylia says, "Thank Xorus; he is the one who was prepared."
Xorus asks, "Who knew?"
Elidal says, "I believe he blasted one boulder. I wouldn't say he could do it regularly and often."
Speaking to Thrassus, Yardie says, "Can't handle your drinks."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "So... I'm going to bring up something potentially of a touchy subject, but something I feel I need to on behalf of our town."
Speaking to Elidal, Raelee asks, "... why not?"
Speaking to Yardie, Thrassus says, "At least I'm not terrified of them."
Elidal says, "I mean, he could in a sense."
Elidal nods at Raelee.
Kayse says, "What can you provide to help deal with Gnul? Because as I see it he has become our problem due to the Empire's decision."
Speaking to Thrassus, Yardie says, "You know my stance on food and drink."
Speaking to Raelee, Kiyna says, "I suspect he specializes in those illusions of his. They seemed pretty impressive."
Elidal says, "It's not the Outpost I'm concerned about."
Evialla says, "Blasting boulders leads to an equally large pile of gravel."
Speaking evenly to Elidal, Kayse says, "Either am I. I am worried about our town."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "While I think we can work quite well together in the future, the citizens of Wehnimer's landing also need... well some assurances."
Speaking to Evialla, Irval says, "Unless disintegration is used..."
Speaking to his baked raccoon, Neithan says, "Kinda gamey."
Evialla says, "The smithereened bits have got to go somewhere, either way."
Elidal asks, "Assurances?"
Kayse glances expectantly at Elidal.
Kayse slowly empties her lungs.
Speaking heartily to Elidal, Chamorr says, "I missed yer answer, how many caravans are ya sending."
Elidal says, "And I am unclear precisely what you need in battling Gnul. Commander Sablo may offer more insight when he arrives with the next caravan."
Elidal nods.
Evialla says, "He's not sending, he's bringing."
Elidal nods at Kayse.
Speaking measuredly to Elidal, Kayse inquires, "How much longer do we have to wait until Commander Sablo shows up until our town is in ruins?"
Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "The illoke are notoriously hard-headed..."
Elidal says, "A half dozen more."
Elidal nods at Chamorr.
Speaking to Irval, Yardie says, "They're hard bodied as well."
Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "Sir Guarrin recommended marching up the mountain and handling him. Perhaps we lead an attack for once instead of sitting idle?"
Elidal says, "That has been an idea tossed around. Taking a more offensive route."
Guarrin agrees, "That is one approach that would ideally create a diversion for a caravan."
Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "Same sized caravans or do ye figure it will flucuate in the number of settlers. The more, the harder it is to keep an eye on without a large security force."
Speaking to Kayse, Lylia says, "It was highly effective on Glaoveln."
Guarrin adds, "There are others."
Speaking to Elidal, Kelfyr asks, "I am curious about the telescope in the settlement. To whom does that belong?"
Alosaka says, "Wars are rarely won on the defensive."
Elidal says, "It could fluctuate."
Elidal nods at Irval.
Irval nods at Elidal.
Elidal says, "I am not sure who owns the telescope."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Make peace wit war....."
Elidal says, "It could be a child's for all we know."
Elidal chuckles.
Kelfyr says, "Curious."
Kayse frankly says, "I would prefer Gnul speak to us, but if we can drive away damage from Wehnimer's it would be a small victory."
Irval says, "Well least its pointed in the right direction."
Kelfyr says, "It's trained on a rather interesting spot."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "I would like to also suggest, and we can discuss some of the further details later with our Mayor also potentially present if need be, that the Empire issue a written decree recognizing the Landing as independent, and rights to self govern. I believe this would ease some of the uneasiness about the thought of the new Barony just being a stepping stone before taking Wehnimer's Landing and other territories as well."
Elidal peers quizzically at Kelfyr.
Evialla says, "It would be deemed interesting no matter where it was pointed, is my thought."
Elidal asks, "Go big and bold from the beginning, eh?"
Elidal peers quizzically at Vaemyr.
Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "I would also suggest a different route for these caravans. It seems tonight's discussion is on the political front though."
Speaking to Elidal, Irval asks, "Have you ever heard of landing doing it any other way?"
Kelfyr says, "A valley on the Thanatoph, from where Gnul's forces have been marching."
Elidal says, "The discussion can be on any front, Sir Guarrin."
Alosaka notes, "He is merely asking for an acknowledgement of the status quo."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Well, no real need to beat around the bush I figured."
Speaking dryly to Evialla, Raelee says, "We have pointed the one on the roof of the Outpost in many directions over the years. Our view is likely better, due to the height."
Speaking heartily to Vaemyr, Chamorr says, "Good idea."
Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna says, "I think the offensive approach to defending the next caravan is a good idea, but I don't think Elidal is in any position to assist us with that."
Speaking to Neithan, Irval asks, "Try the bear yet?"
Elidal says, "I do not expect the Earl to revisit the protectorate status of Wehnimer's Landing in his lifetime or the next."
Elidal shrugs.
Kelfyr says, "Good pears in that valley."
Speaking to Kiyna, Kayse says, "Funny, because the reason Gnul is here is the Empire's problem."
Speaking confidentially to Irval, Neithan says, "I don't think he'd like that."
Chamorr heartily says, "Huh."
Tikba mildly says, "Revisit in either direction, I suppose."
Speaking flatly to Elidal, Bellaja asks, "So you want help in exchange for?"
Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna says, "What do you propose he does about it? He has almost no soldiers yet."
Speaking to Neithan, Irval says, "Well I doubt he would if he weren't cooked already."
Elidal agrees with Kiyna.
Speaking to Kiyna, Yardie says, "He somewhat does...though I wouldn't call all of us soldiers."
Geijon says, "Th' Illoke are attacking th' Landing."
Speaking heartily to Neithan, Chamorr says, "Good choice."
Speaking to Yardie, Kiyna says, "We are not subordinates of Elidal."
Bellaja comments, "I'm afraid that conversation was derailed."
Elidal says, "I think you over estimate the offensive we could muster currently."
Elidal nods at Kayse.
Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "Then I would suggest until the Commander arrives with more forces the caravans take safer roads, to the coast, and then sail north."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "I'm not sure that status would need to be revoked, to guaruntee our right to independence and self govern as well. Take Solhaven for example, an imperial district that was given free port status and the right to self govern even being part of the Empire itself."
Speaking to Kiyna, Kayse offers, "There are soliders at the outpost. He has a brother who is a Magister."
Kelfyr asks, "I wonder if perhaps Iliyaas knows whose telescope that is. Or if it might be hers?"
Thrassus says, "For the several dozenth time, I must add."
Speaking to Kiyna, Yardie asks, "Agreed. But the viewpoint does give it that impression every time we charge into certain danger, no?"
Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "I am asking for cooperation in a plan."
Elidal nods at Guarrin.
Speaking to Geijon, Evialla asks, "Is it alright?"
Goldstr says, "I think, AS a Protectorate, we are already considwews a free and indepent government."
Speaking to Vaemyr, Perigourd says, "That status can, and has been revoked at times in the past."
Elidal takes a drink from his cinnamon coffee.
Elidal says, "I have never withheld cooperation Kayse."
Elidal takes a drink from his cinnamon coffee.
Kelfyr says, "Those new settlers at the outpost sure seem nervous about Iliyaas."
Vaemyr says, "But anyways, on to the caravans, and our defenses as Kayse has pointed out are immediate concerns."
Elidal grins at Kelfyr.
Kelfyr asks, "I wonder why that might be?"
Speaking quietly to his baked raccoon, Neithan muses, "This raccoon is a little ... rocky."
Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "To Kayse's point, I have a proposal."
Elidal says, "People fear what they do not understand sometimes."
Elidal nods at Kelfyr.
Elidal turns an inquisitive ear toward Kiyna.
Kelfyr asks, "What isn't there to understand?"
Tikba notes, "The Earl has stated that we are allies, and neighbors."
Tikba says, "If he holds to that, hopefully that would satisfy."
'Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna asks, "Would it be possible to commit some soldiers to our offensive when the next caravan is to arrive, and have Enisius create illusory copies of them? To show the Outpost still well-defended?"
Speaking to Tikba, Ulfwine says, ""he could say it every day for the next year and some will not believe it."
Elidal nods at Kiyna.
Elidal says, "I believe that is a reasonable request."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "What is the likelyhood of potentially sending Caravans by sea, and then we could escort them from port to the settlement, in the meantime we could mount potentially distractions like Enisius did with fake caravans, and an offensive of our own."
Chamorr heartily says, "Ow."
Chamorr heartily says, "Ow."
Kiyna nods at Elidal.
Elidal says, "The caravans are already en route, winding up from various parts of the Empire. I would expect at least one to arrive by sea. I will know more soon of their advances."
Vaemyr ponders.
Vaemyr nods at Elidal.
Missoni curiously asks, "Do you know when the next is to arrive?"
Elidal says, "Within the week."
Elidal nods at Missoni.
Kelfyr asks, "Does she regularly wear that bright, shiny cloak of hers while wandering around in the woods? Would seem to make her a fairly conspicious scout. Or is that not her role under your employ?"
Irval says, "They are making fine time then, Im guessing the next on is currently on the way."
Vaemyr asks, "And that one also brings your new Commander as well?"
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Who hoardin all da pie?"
Speaking to Lylia, Perigourd whispers aloud, "Spare yourself."
Speaking heartily to Elidal, Chamorr asks, "Is the empire planning on paying a remittance for the protection of your caravans?"
Elidal says, "She is hardly in danger in the woods."
Elidal nods at Kelfyr.
Speaking to Lylia, Evialla says, "Do try the pie on the little plate on the table."
Speaking drunkenly to Lylia, Gutstorm slurs, "5 shecond rool?"
Lylia says, "It is so desiccated, I think it would be safe with the five-month rule."
Speaking to Elidal, Goldstr exclaims, "I fer one nae asks fer any payments fer protection!"
Speaking to Lylia, Yardie asks, "Pecan pie is your favorite?"
Ulfwine says, ""could use it in the ballistae."
Speaking to Evialla, Tikba praises, "Very good."
Elidal asks, "Payments?"
Speaking to Tikba, Evialla exclaims, "Thank you!"
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "PIE!"
Elidal says, "I had preferred to come to other arrangements, of course."
Speaking heartily to Elidal, Chamorr says, "Yes payments."
Elliathe says, "Sadly the pie is gone."
Evialla says, "Oh dear."
Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "For some of us, helping others doesn't come with any obligation in return."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "It doesn't have to be money, but it needs to be something tangible."
Tikba curiously asks, "What other arrangements had you in mind?"
Evialla says, "I meant to make several, but no time."
Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "I brought up two points the other evening--you said you were not taking negotiations. Would now be the time to address those again?"
Speaking quietly to Lylia, Yardie says, "I'll make a pecan pie for the next gathering at the Spire."
Kelfyr says, "I'm sure the Empire's monies are more carefully employed in the support of these new settlers."
Elidal says, "I am listening."
Elidal nods at Kayse.
Kelfyr says, "Curious that they'd also need donations, though, to support their settlement."
Evialla says, "There is still pie."
Speaking to Yardie, Alosaka asks, "Friend Yardie, would you answer a question for me?"
Speaking thoughtfully to Guarrin, Perigourd says, "I wonder if some of them could be rifted past danger."
Speaking to Alosaka, Yardie says, "I just did, but you can ask another."
Speaking to Yardie, Alosaka asks, "What is your favorite season?"
Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "I would like Rodnay untouched, unharmed, and left to be free. I would like to address the Obsidian Tower's borders to avoid possible violence with them."
Speaking drunkenly to Yardie, Gutstorm slurs, "Wabbit sheashin."
Speaking to Alosaka, Yardie says, "Spring."
Speaking to Perigourd, Guarrin says, "I had considered that, however, that brings additional risk."
Speaking to Perigourd, Guarrin says, "As you are well aware."
Elidal says, "Oh, those issues."
Elidal asks, "May I be honest?"
Elidal says, "It's all I know, so I will be anyway..."
Raelee whispers something to Elidal.
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Lie to ush, it better."
Tikba mildly says, "You should."
Irval says, "Please."
Speaking to Perigourd, Guarrin says, "That may be the answer should they be stuck again."
Chamorr heartily says, "Bout time."
Kayse says, "I would hope."
Elidal says, "I cannot, nor will not make any promises when it comes to the creature you call Rodnay."
Speaking to Perigourd, Guarrin says, "A combination of assault, an illusionary secondary caravan, and perhaps a rift for an emergency. Well, the start of a plan at least."
Kayse narrows her eyes, her dark sclera reduced to mere slits.
Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "Why?"
Speaking to Kayse, Lylia says, "I wondered that as well."
Speaking to Guarrin, Perigourd says, "We considered going up during the last."
Perigourd says, "But the caravan was priority."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Kayse dish wig ye gimme, it comed alived agin."
Thrassus says, "Rodnay could be harmless, or he could be a terrible danger to the region."
Elidal says, "Because we have not properly finished our assessment of the Reach, it has only just begun, and the existance of Rodnay holds a possibility of potential danger."
Speaking to Chamorr, Yardie whispers aloud, "Isn't this person mentioned a child?"
Lylia says, "Whatever Rodnay is, he is no longer a child."
Raelee says, "Benign today is not benign forever."
Speaking to Elidal, Kayse counters, "Rodnay has done nothing but assist this town over and over again. Even during the fall of Talador."
Speaking to Lylia, Yardie asks, "How so?"
Speaking to Yardie, Thrassus says, "He is a former child that has monstrous mental powers."
Elidal says, "To ask me to blindly shield the mountain boy upon my arrival, is akin to requesting me to ignore the threat growing in the Deadfall."
Speaking to Thrassus, Yardie asks, "So he's of age?"
Evialla says, "True but he has remained alone up there for quite some long time since then."
Tikba says, "Diplomacy is the tool by which you turn potential dangers into potential allies."
Speaking heartily to Yardie, Chamorr says, "Used to be, prolly grown a bit."
Kayse smirks at Elidal.
Speaking slowly to Chamorr, Yardie asks, "How old?"
Speaking to Thrassus, Alosaka says, "A former child? What an odd phrase to coin."
Speaking to Yardie, Thrassus says, "He's no longer human."
Speaking slowly to Thrassus, Yardie repeats, "How...old?"
Speaking heartily to Yardie, Chamorr says, "Dunno, prolly old nuff to shave."
Lylia says, "By any measure, he is not a child. He is...pupating up on that mountain, so whatever emerges will by definition be a mature being. And he was a lad of ten seven years ago, so he is not a youth by that measure either."
Speaking to Alosaka, Ulfwine says, ""Yet so we all were."
Speaking mildly to Thrassus, Tikba says, "A burden, to be sure, but it can be survived."
Speaking to Elidal, Goldstr exclaims, "Jess let yer assessers know dat WE do be concerned fer Rodnay!"
Lylia says, "Perhaps eight years ago now."
Kayse says, "He could still have human emotions and feelings. Despite not looking human, he has human memories."
Speaking to Gutstorm, Lylia asks, "I have a question to which I urgently need an answer: What is your favorite season?"
Elidal says, "I can appreciate your desire to protect an ally of the town, or someone who has been an ally. That bodes well. But I will not promise to shield him, nor will I promise action against him."
Kayse glances at Elidal and slowly exhales.
Lylia says, "He is human -- but not a child."
Thrassus says, "He can reach out with his mind and snuff any one of us out without leaving his cocoon in the Reach, I would say."
Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "What are you willing to negotiate this evening?"
Evialla says, "Humanish being."
Kayse gazes in amusement at Elidal.
Speaking to Lylia, Yardie asks, "So what do they mean to do with him?"
Elidal says, "Protection for the settlers arriving via caravans."
Elidal nods at Kayse.
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "None of us are asking you to ignore what might be a threat, however you may create a threat depending on how you act. I propose... that Kayse and Raelee be heavily involved with any research or dealings with Rodney. Raelee being the longest standing magister in the area, and Kayse having direct dealings with him."
Speaking flatly to Elidal, Kayse says, "I meant our end of the deal."
Elidal says, "I am sure some mutual agreement can be reached with the Obsidian Tower in the future, and we will cross that bridge when needed. No one is looking to uproot them from their home."
Lylia says, "He is his own entity; I do not think it is up to us to choose what to do with him. He is not our charge."
Speaking to Vaemyr, Yardie mouths, "Experiments?"
Speaking to Vaemyr, Yardie mouths, "With Raelee?"
Speaking to Lylia, Evialla says, "Sounds familiar that...did we not go through the same discussion about hime those many years back.."
Chamorr heartily asks, "Uproot them?"
Weapon Bartering
Elidal says, "We will be in need of weapons."
Lylia says, "We did."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Raelee may need help, me ned to be depootized ash a depooty mashigter."
Speaking to Yardie, Vaemyr says, "I didn't say experiments, I was saying the two of them, have a high amount of expertise."
Speaking to Elidal, Lylia says, "Excellent. Tykel will be pleased to hear that."
Elidal says, "Certainly, we could turn to the warlords of Jantalar...."
Elidal nods at Lylia.
Elidal says, "But if protection of our settlers is provided...."
Speaking to Yardie, Raelee says, "... 'we' are not specifically meaning to do anything to him. It is simply that making blanket promises regarding an unknown entity is tactically unwise."
Kayse smirks.
Speaking heartily to Elidal, Chamorr asks, "You buyin da weapons?"
Elidal says, "I could arrange for forty percent of our weapon purchases to be contracted with your local smiths."
Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "And how many..."
Evialla says, "That would certainly keep them busy."
Vaemyr whispers something to Raelee.
Speaking to Raelee, Yardie says, "I...."
Kelfyr asks, "Paid for from the gems donated to the settlers?"
Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "I would suggest further inspection of the local smithies. You may find their quality surprising."
Goldstr exclaims, "SAye I might get back to Forging!"
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me had to tax da donation box."
Speaking to Elidal, Thrassus says, "The quality might make you consider increasing that percentage in the future."
Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "As a local smith myself, I agree with Guarrin."
Speaking heartily to Guarrin, Chamorr says, "No."
Elidal nods at Thrassus.
Kiyna corrects, "Sir Guarrin."
Speaking to Stormyrain, Alosaka asks, "Marshall Stormyrain, would you mind settling a dispute for us?"
Chamorr heartily says, "Now the empire is inspecting our merchants."
Speaking to Alosaka, Stormyrain says, "I can try."
Chamorr heartily says, "How did that work on da docks."
Speaking to Stormyrain, Alosaka asks, "What is your favorite season?"
Stormyrain says, "Though the likelihood of my op--"
Lylia dryly remarks, "I inspect every merchant at which I might buy something."
Stormyrain bluntly asks, "What?"
Speaking drunkenly to Evialla, Gutstorm slurs, "Me thot ye married, yet ye ticklin not yoo hubband."
Speaking to Stormyrain, Alosaka says, "It is critically important that you answer."
Lylia says, "If that is suspicious activity, I am a wanted woman at every boutique this side of the Dragonspine."
Speaking to Gutstorm, Evialla says, "Sir Goldstr is our lifelong friend."
Speaking to Lylia, Guarrin says, "I suppose that makes two of us."
Speaking to Alosaka, Ulfwine says, ""Summer."
Speaking drunkenly to Evialla, Gutstorm slurs, "Oh, sho yoo dat kinna cuppa."
Stormyrain asks, "Do you mean seasons as in the turning of nature? Or based on celebrations we hold?"
Elidal takes a drink from his cinnamon coffee.
Chamorr heartily says, "Inspect the merchandise not the smiths."
Speaking to Stormyrain, Alosaka says, "I leave that entirely up to you."
Elidal asks, "Is that a measure worth considering?"
Elidal peers quizzically at Vaemyr.
Speaking to Chamorr, Evialla says, "They have not yet been contracted to make anything to inspect..."
Tikba idly says, "A contract is an interesting idea, to be sure."
Chandrellia says, "Ok the party can start now." [she just arrived]
Kayse curiously asks, "Are there other contracts besides weapons we could arrange for the future?"
Stormyrain answers, "The fall, when the air crisps, leaves turn, and Ebon Gate occurs."
Elidal pours himself a mug of cinnamon coffee.
Elidal takes a drink from his cinnamon coffee.
Stormyrain says, "If I'm forced to pick."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "We would need something in writing, but I think it could be aranged, I don't think it helps the overall situation too well though."
Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "What say you on matters to assure self-governance for the Landing? It may go a long way to cooling unrest."
Elidal says, "In the future, I am sure."
Elidal nods at Kayse.
Speaking to Vaemyr, Perigourd says, "I expect the first step to them being able to assist in defending the environs is to arm them."
Speaking heartily to Elidal, Chamorr asks, "Who ya giving these weapons to?"
Elidal says, "But for the meantime, I thought it fair, one request for one agreement."
Speaking to Elidal, Chandrellia says, "Oh, good evening sorry didnt see you there."
Geijon says, "Th' matter of th' Landing as a Protectorate has been reinforced several times."
Elidal says, "Soldiers we train."
Elidal nods at Chamorr.
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "So... you've heard several things from us, what might you be able to offer our town. Knowing that many heavily fear the expansion happening, and would like nothing more than for us to just... not help you anymore at all."
Speaking to Perigourd, Chandrellia asks, "I thought the empire was sending soldiers?"
Ulfwine says, "Victor."
Evialla says, "The smiths would be the ones negotiating for their labors."
Speaking heartily to Elidal, Chamorr asks, "The settlers?"
Chandrellia asks, "So now its up to us to arm the civilans here?"
Elidal nods at Chamorr.
Chandrellia asks, "Or am I hearing that worong?"
Evialla says, "I heard no one say that..."
Elidal says, "Some of them as well."
Speaking to Evialla, Irval asks, "Unless several smiths were put on retainer?"
Elidal nods at Chamorr.
Speaking to Evialla, Chandrellia says, "Jus trying to get my bearings here."
Speaking to Chandrellia, Kiyna says, "He's talking about buying our weapons, not demanding them."
Speaking to Irval, Evialla says, "Whatever they agree to of their own accord."
Speaking heartily to Elidal, Chamorr says, "When they are armed, they cease being settlers and become an army."
Vaemyr says, "While I do think the weapons deal is good busness, I think many in town see that just as arming our invaders."
Speaking to Chandrellia, Thrassus says, "He is proposing to purchase fourty percent of his troops' weapons from the town."
Elidal says, "The Barony will have an army Chamorr."
Mourdeyan quietly says, "Or able t'protect themselves better."
Speaking to Chandrellia, Evialla exclaims, "I can help you with that...try the pie on the plate on the table!"
Kelfyr says, "Beats setting out a box and hoping it fills with steel instead of stones."
Speaking to Chamorr, Ulfwine asks, ""Or settlers that can defend their homes?"
Geijon says, "All of us have weapons."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "And please don't take offense to my comments, I'm trying to be very frank this evening and not beat around the bush and get at the heart of some of our issues."
Elidal frowns.
Geijon says, "And I'm just eating pie."
Speaking to Evialla, Chandrellia asks, "And just who do I throw it at when I have it?"
Mourdeyan quietly asks, "We're armed, most ever one of us, by your terms doesn't that make us an army?"
Speaking heartily to Ulfwine, Chamorr says, "Or take yours."
Elidal says, "We must also be careful not to leap at every angle or perspective, as both can be flawed."
Elidal nods at Vaemyr.
Speaking to Chamorr, Ulfwine says, ""Perhaps, but I have seen no evidence of it to this point."
Speaking to Chandrellia, Evialla says, "I would suggest to eat it, its very tasty."
Vaemyr nods at Elidal.
Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "Optics can be a tricky thing."
Elidal says, "The truth, is we have not come as invaders. There are some that will not believe me, regardless."
Chamorr heartily says, "Wow."
Speaking to Bellaja, Lylia asks, "I was wondering if you could settle a dispute for us...what is your favorite season?"
Speaking to Evialla, Chandrellia asks, "Let me guess, its provided by the empire?"
Elidal says, "I do not look to convince them."
Elidal says, "I look to convince the sound minds. The logical citizens. The fair minded. Time above all else will prove it."
Chamorr heartily says, "Its a cook book."
Speaking to Chandrellia, Evialla says, "I baked it to share with everyone."
Bellaja says, "For certain the Autumn."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "I know, you all are just people. There are good people, and bad people, but just people in the end."
Citan deeply says, "Thanks."
Speaking to Elidal, Lylia says, "Yes. That is precisely right. And I am glad you realize it. There are those who will despise you regardless."'
Speaking to Lylia, Bellaja says, "The crisp air."
Elidal nods at Lylia.
Raelee mouths, "Logical..."
Lylia says, "And those who will rush to defend you no matter what."
Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "I am sure all here will remember you've said this. If they're honest words, I thank you for them."
Julenne softly says, "Of course love."
Elidal nods at Kiyna.
Tikba says, "I fear your difficulty is that Gnul may be convincing people otherwise."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me will handle Gnul."
Ulfwine says, "If Gnul is truthful."
Ulfwine says, "MAybe it is just his excuse."
Speaking to Lylia, Irval says, "Some people are happiest while making others unhappy. Its quite the conundrum."
Speaking to Lylia, Bellaja whispers aloud, "Which season is winning?"
Speaking to Evialla, Chandrellia says, "Thank you."
Speaking despairingly to Bellaja, Alosaka says, "Lylia's season."
Speaking to Bellaja, Lylia whispers aloud, "I believe it is autumn."
Elidal says, "I have made my offer. For your assistance in protecting future caravans, I will authorize forty percent of our weapon purchases made from your local smiths."
Speaking to Ulfwine, Tikba says, "If it is, then we know nothing."
Mourdeyan quietly says, "If conviction is that weak, I wager they'll wander to and fro over the lines of loyalty and dissatisf...unhappiness oer and oer."
Speaking loftily to Alosaka, Lylia says, "I am a woman for all seasons."
Speaking heartily to Lylia, Chamorr says, "I dont despise anybody, by the way."
Elidal asks, "Perhaps that is an offer you can take before your Mayor and hold a council vote?"
Speaking to Tikba, Ulfwine says, ""Not enough information about him, I think, or about his real motives."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Guesh it time to open a weppin shop."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "What would you think about establishing a joint defense council, it could be in the short term until we've deal with Gnul and whom any other threats might be, or it could much longer term, for providing stability in the region."
Speaking to Elidal, Chandrellia says, "I do have a serious question."
Irval says, "I think that would be prudent. Best to consult the mayor so to best avoid chances of being thrown out a window."
Kelfyr says, "Invaders is an interesting choice of word. It implies that you don't believe the newly drawn borders of the empire are claimed by any peoples being displaced or subsumed within them by force of will."
Mourdeyan quietly says, "To and fro."
Speaking to Kiyna, Alosaka asks, "Kiyna, would you answer a question for me?"
Kelfyr asks, "If not invaders, then what?"
Elidal says, "They are not claimed by civilized creatures."
Speaking offhandedly to Alosaka, Kiyna offers, "Autumn."
Elidal nods at Kelfyr.
Speaking curiously to Elidal, Guarrin asks, "I did notice there were a few interested in knighthood in the camp. Who will be training them?"
Speaking heartily to Kelfyr, Chamorr says, "Usurpers."
Kelfyr asks, "The reivers aren't civilized? The peoples of the Tower aren't civilized?"
Elidal says, "I will leave those decisions to Commander Sablo."
Elidal nods at Guarrin.
Speaking to Guarrin, Ulfwine says, ""Victor comes to mind."
Kelfyr says, "Even the kobolds have a society, though it might not be one the empire respects."
Speaking to Kelfyr, Perigourd says, "The Reivers are outside the borders of the Barony."
Lylia notes, "Invaders typically have hostile intent. And I shall remind once again that the lands surrounding the town were in some question years ago, and then they were ceded by the Town Council at the time."
Irval says, "Think he was referring to the inhabitants of Darkstone castle maybe..."
Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "Ah, I will speak to him once he is settled then."
Guarrin nods appreciatively at Elidal.
Thrassus says, "The reivers are on the other side of the river thus outside the borders of the barony."
Kelfyr says, "For now."
Elidal turns an inquisitive ear toward Chandrellia.
Speaking to Kelfyr, Chandrellia says, "If you are referring to the obsidian tower, I will say it again as many have already said it, its not, within, the, borders."
Tikba says, "The Obsidian Tower did come to mind."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me and Yappie are pro-kobolt."
Elidal says, "I will take a council of sorts under consideration."
Elidal nods at Vaemyr.
Evialla says, "And yet the fine citizens do not hesitate long to claim a bounty on kobolds or reivers."
Speaking to Elidal, Chandrellia asks, "In reference to us defending your caravans, will the townspeople also help with repairs should Gnul decide to attack Landing again?"
Speaking to Gutstorm, Yardie says, "I am called Yardie."
Speaking to Julenne, Irval says, "He's not that kinda squirrel..."
Elidal says, "I have advisors of my own as well. I will approach them with the prospect."
Speaking drunkenly to Yardie, Gutstorm slurs, "Me gotyoo back."
Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna asks, "Hold a moment. This deal for the protection of all the coming caravans? Wasn't it you that said one agreement for one action?"
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "I think perhaps something like that could be a good step in the right direction."
Speaking to Evialla, Ulfwine says, ""Excellent way to make peace with the Reivers I would say."
Chandrellia says, "Well, your refugees or what have you."
Elidal asks, "The settlers?" Spe aking to Elidal, Bellaja says, "Most generous of you to do so when you've really no need for approval one way or the other."
Elidal peers quizzically at Chandrellia.
Chandrellia nods at Elidal.
Elidal says, "It will be put before them, if they wish."
Kelfyr says, "I'm sure the settlers can keep their eye on the mountain. The uncivilized peoples that live on it will continue to stake their claims to their lands."
Kelfyr says, "Whoever owns the telescope has a fine view."
Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "Best to avoid making new enemies if ya can help it ...."
Julenne softly says, "Drink my wine."
Citan deeply says, "Aspis has a telescope."
Elidal nods at Kiyna.
Chandrellia says, "The enclave has one too."
Elidal says, "Protection of the caravans, is an agreement."
Lylia agrees, "We do indeed."
Speaking to Elidal, Alosaka asks, "Lord Elidal, your pardon. I know there are important matters of state being discussed, but would you mind settling a minor dispute for us unrelated to matters of war?"
Citan deeply says, "Well our is better."
Elidal asks, "Otherwise, do we only buy forty percent of the weapons for a day?"
Elidal smirks.
Evialla says, "And so does Phoenix, so ... we are all either spies or voyeurs."
Speaking to Yardie, Chandrellia says, "It does Ive seen it."
Lylia adds, "By settling it, you could avert a war, in fact."
Elidal says, "You will ask me my favorite season."
Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "You get the hilt, but have to rent the blade."
Elidal nods at Alosaka.
Speaking to Chandrellia, Yardie says, "Just a glance, nothing more."
Alosaka clears his throat.
Alosaka nods at Elidal.
Lylia admits, "That is a strong possibility."
Elidal says, "I would tell you spring."
Speaking to Elidal, Alosaka asks, "As you say, sir. What is your favorite season?"
Alosaka winces.
Speaking to Alosaka, Yardie says, "That was my answer."
Evialla says, "Curry is a good...season."
Speaking to Alosaka, Lylia says, "I believe that was the game point."
Speaking to Alosaka, Yardie says, "Just because your stories are filled with death does not mean that the seasons must reflect the same."
Elidal says, "Take my offer to your Mayor and before the council to vote, if you would."
Elidal nods at Vaemyr.
Elidal nods at Kayse.
Elidal nods at Kiyna.
Geijon says, "Occasionally no payment for goodwill is needed and when people are in need, it's given freely."
Lylia says, "I am magnanimous in victory."
Vaemyr nods at Elidal.
Kiyna slowly empties her lungs.
Speaking neutrally to Elidal, Kayse says, "Very well."
Speaking to Elidal, Lylia says, "Thank you for forestalling that conflict."
Mourdeyan quietly asks, "Is there a place where weapons may be donated?"
Speaking to Alosaka, Yardie says, "You tried."
Lylia says, "And for forestalling other conflicts quite deftly tonight."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Certainly, are the... numbers potentially negotiable, I believe I'll have some experts analyze what the deal would mean before I make my own decision."
Speaking to Alosaka, Yardie says, "You failed. But you tried."
Elidal says, "Potentially. But I would advise, I have been generous in my initial offer."
Vaemyr nods at Elidal.
Speaking to Mourdeyan, Ulfwine says, ""Not the same place as the donation box, they'll just get stolen."
Speaking to Vaemyr, Bellaja asks, "Yes, and how will you be compensated for the loss of life and bloodshed. What percentage?"
Speaking to Ulfwine, Yardie says, "Put a lock."
Evialla asks, "And don't forget with all the dealing and checking, to check with the people who will actually be doing the work, hm?"
Elidal says, "I have many parties to please, here, and to the south."
Tikba neutrally says, "It must be very difficult for you."
Speaking heartily to Vaemyr, Chamorr says, "Damage to the town from the incurring invasions."
Elidal says, "It is not as difficult as you might think."
Elidal says, "People are not as different from each other as they like to pretend sometimes."
Speaking drunkenly to Julenne, Gutstorm slurs, "No tell Lylia me do dat."
Citan deeply says, "Vaniller."
Tikba says, "Perhaps you have a talent for the job."
Lylia notes, "Forty percent of those resources going to our armorers and smiths is a large piece of the pie. If I could offer a further suggestion, the shipwrights here have become more skilled, thanks to their time working with Praxopius Fortney, and should command a higher working wage if they are enlisted in this cause."
Speaking to Chamorr, Evialla says, "Oh and let us not forget that someone in authority needs to remind certain elements that endangering public safety by setting things alight on our rooftops is a crime."
Speaking to Chamorr, Vaemyr says, "Which will happen with or without a deal, Gnul is going to consider all humankind enemies as long as this is happening."
Speaking drunkenly to Lylia, Gutstorm slurs, "Me like pie."
Lylia murmurs, "Just a thought, now that we are done settling the serious business of seasons."
Speaking heartily to Elidal, Chamorr says, "Cept when they try to put their boot on yer neck."
Speaking in Elven, Kelfyr says, "I'm troubled at the thought that taking the lands of whoever the Empire believes to be uncivilized is its right. For a long time, it believed a great many peoples were not worthy of their civilization." [OOC note: Normally I would render this as "something you don't understand," as I try to keep logs from the perspective of a character who would only understand Common. That said, I'm leaving it in because Elidal responds to it--and in Elven, for that matter. I'm still cutting out other dialogue, though.]
Lylia says, "Gnul is right. He has no friends among us."
Speaking to Elidal, Missoni ventures, "On the subject of supplies, many of our local knitters have come together to craft warm articles of clothing for the settlers, fearing some may have lost supplies when the caravans were attacked. I wonder if I may offer those to you for distribution as might be appropriate?"
Speaking to Lylia, Kiyna says, "I wouldn't be so sure. I've seen at least a few asking how they might join the Illoke, and I wonder how many were in jest."
Speaking in Elven, Elidal says, "There is more to it, then just deeming a group of creatures or people uncivilized."
Elidal nods at Kelfyr.
Speaking in Elven, Kelfyr says, "And of the elven peoples, mine are on the same side of the Dragonspine as their empire."
At the edge of your hearing, you hear a hushed voice whisper from nearby, "The shadows are your best tool and your closest friend."
Speaking in Elven, Lylia says something you don't understand.
Speaking heartily to Vaemyr, Chamorr says, "If there were no imperial caravans there would be mo invasion."
Thrassus says, "I suppose we should just pack up the whole town and leave then, since the Illoke, trolls and other such frequent attackers of the town were here long before the town was even founded."
Speaking amusedly to Kiyna, Tikba says, "You may direct them to Thanatoph, and tell them to inquire within."
Elidal nods at Missoni.
Elidal says, "Yes you may."
Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "That is what I said, yes."
Tikba gazes with interest at Elidal.
Missoni happily says, "Lovely."
Missoni produces a cable-knit prismatic pashmina carryall from the depths of her airy robes.
Missoni removes a scallop-edged prismatic card from in her pashmina carryall.
Speaking quietly to Thrassus, Yardie chides, "And they call me a troublemaker."
Speaking to Kiyna, Lylia says, "People truly do have the strangest senses of humor."
Missoni offers Elidal a scallop-edged prismatic card.
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "No buddy heard dat?" [OOC note: just a scripted item.]
Speaking to Chamorr, Evialla asks, "So all of our scores of past invasions are merely a figment of imagination?"
Speaking to Missoni, Irval says, "Healing for the sick and injured...Not that I would know about that..."
Speaking in Elven, Kelfyr says something you don't understand.
Julenne softly says, "Dely calls me one too."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "We'll certainly discuss and vote on the deal. And please do discuss the idea of a joint defense council as well, we have some very talented minded folks and I'm sure you would as well."
Speaking to Chamorr, Goldstr says, "We been fitin da Illoke fer ages Bear, nuttin new der."
Elidal accepts Missoni's prismatic card.
Speaking in Elven to Elidal, Tikba asks, "What more is there?"
Missoni offers Elidal a cable-knit prismatic pashmina carryall.
Speaking to Perigourd, Missoni asks, "Would you please give him the others?"
Missoni sheepishly says, "There were too many for me to carry."
Citan deeply says, "The bowels are always bubbling."
Missoni happily says, "Everyone was quite generous."
Elidal put a scallop-edged prismatic card in his wool cape.
Speaking to Yardie, Thrassus says, "Just saying what thier logic would conclude at if it were to be followed."
Elidal accepts Missoni's pashmina carryall.
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Din nodubby hear dat?"
Perigourd offers Elidal a glittery knitted rainbow-flecked lamb's wool carryall.
Elidal bows to Missoni.
Speaking to Chamorr, Kiyna says, "That's also simply incorrect. Gnul doesn't just want the caravans to stop, he wants the newcomers to leave. Whether back south or into the grave."
Speaking in Aelotian to Tikba, Kayse observes something you don't understand.
Chamorr heartily says, "Ya all need lessons in negotiating."
Missoni curtsies to Elidal.
Elidal put a cable-knit prismatic pashmina carryall in his wool cape.
Elidal accepts Perigourd's lamb's wool carryall.
Perigourd says, "Quite the workout there."
Perigourd nods at Elidal.
Elidal put a glittery knitted rainbow-flecked lamb's wool carryall in his wool cape.
Mourdeyan quietly asks, "Who's negotiatin?"
Elidal says, "Thank you. My people will love these."
Speaking to Thrassus, Yardie says, "I get the concern. I think tonight may have assuaged some of it, but apprehension is to be expected."
Speaking warmly to Elidal, Missoni says, "I hope they take away some of the chill."
Speaking heartily to Mourdeyan, Chamorr says, "Exactly."
Speaking to Chamorr, Vaemyr says, "Aye, there probably wouldn't... this time, but what about a couple months from now? Or a couple months from then? The invasions always come and happen for one reason or another, at least we might be able to come out of these ones with something to better our defenses longterm."
Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "I also had a gift, to honor the land and gain Imaera's blessing."
Perigourd offers Elidal an ornate delicate box wrapped in black silk.
Geijon says, "Lylia pointed out, again, that these areas were not contested by th' city and frankly, we did not actively try to find permanent solutions other than overtures with some of those inhabitants intermittantly. In peace or eradication."
Speaking to Chamorr, Bellaja says, "Actually, several offers of dealings were made before he had even elaborated on his needs and offer."
Elidal accepts Perigourd's delicate box.
Elidal put an ornate delicate box wrapped in black silk in his wool cape.
Lylia says, "Coming out better in the long term is precisely what occurred with our local shipwrights."
Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "Faewood seeds that may spring new life to the new Barony."
Elidal grins at Perigourd.
Speaking to Elidal, Tikba observes, "It is impressive to have learned Elven, with so many other tasks calling to you."
Elidal bows to Perigourd.
Elidal grins at Tikba.
Speaking to Chamorr, Bellaja says, "Didn't even wait to hear what he wanted and offering deals, some of them."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Perigourd quit brownodin."
Elidal says, "I am a man of many talents."
Speaking quietly to himself, Yardie muses, "Full of surprises."
Elidal grins at Tikba.
Vaemyr says, "And I will say this... regardless of the council or mayor's vote. No citizen of Wehnimer's Landing should be compelled to fight if they don't think the reason is correct. I will always respect people's own self choices."
Speaking neutrally in Elven to Tikba, Raelee says something you don't understand.
Speaking to herself, Bellaja says, "And the cost of life."
Mourdeyan quietly says, "Offering Succor, I fail t'see where mercy and compassion is a barterin point."
Speaking heartily to Bellaja, Chamorr says, "And chrisms."
Speaking in Elven, Tikba wryly says something you don't understand.
Vaemyr says, "But do note, these caravans are just a lot of displaced folks, families, children, workers, they certainly don't deserve to be crushed under giant rocks either."
Elidal takes a drink from his cinnamon coffee.
Speaking to Chamorr, Bellaja says, "Definitely a need for blessings."
Kayse remarks, "Either do our citizens."
Speaking heartily to Vaemyr, Chamorr says, "Who are gonna be trained and armed."
Elidal says, "I've enjoyed the cinnamon in my coffee, but I couldn't help but sense a bit of spice in the air tonight as well."
Speaking to Vaemyr, Ulfwine asks, ""Everyone that went out to help with that went of their own free will, did they not?"
Elidal says, "A different...pulse, if you will, from our shared moment at the campfire just nights ago."
Speaking to Elidal, Lylia says, "Oh, there is always spice in the air here."
Speaking to Vaemyr, Chandrellia says, "Here is my question, why would they send such a small armored team to defend teh caravans when knowing full well what was going on?, it just doesnt make sense to me."
Speaking deeply to Elidal, Citan says, "Welcome to Landing."
Citan deeply says, "It's always spiced."
Mourdeyan quietly says, "It saddens me...I have yet t'hear a cleric or healer stop to negotiate when gettin one of yer selves back to life and health, or helpin to find a lost weapon or annathin."
Speaking nonchalantly to Elidal, Kayse says, "It was rather spicy that evening as well. The bite of the winter wind even."
Elidal says, "I hope for more of the former."
Speaking to Elidal, Drazaa offers, "I believe you are attuned to more of the underlying anxiety and concerns."
Lylia says, "In fairness, news does not always travel immediately, and Gnul's depredations are new to us too."
Speaking heartily to Mourdeyan, Chamorr says, "Yer a knight, huh."
Elidal nods at Drazaa.
Mourdeyan quietly says, "No, I am just a warrior."
Elidal says, "It is not misguided anxiety. It is just misplaced."
Mourdeyan quietly says, "And a member of the order."
Speaking to Lylia, Chandrellia says, "Ok I suppose that could be the case."
Elidal says, "Time will prove that correct."
Tikba says, "Two nights ago people were excited for the future. I fear today is the present."
Elliathe says, "True, trust always does take time."
Speaking heartily to Mourdeyan, Chamorr asks, "Sworn loyalty to the empire?"
Kayse recalls, "As I said the other evening, show us we are not expendable."
Speaking to Elidal, Evialla says, "If there are other little things we may do to make the new neighbors comfortable and welcome, please do let some of us know."
Elidal nods at Evialla.
Elidal says, "I will Evialla, thank you."
Elidal nods at Kayse.
Speaking quietly to Chamorr, Mourdeyan says, "I am sworn to protect the people of the landin."
Drazaa adds, "Yes, there's a deep power to action and demonstration of it."
Speaking to Chandrellia, Vaemyr says, "I reckon that the caravans have been moving for weeks, with initial experts already, it would take significant time and potential chaos to reroute army units to try and find and meet up with them."
Elidal says, "No living person between us is expendable."
Vaemyr says, "Escorts not experts... it's late."
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Even me?"
Speaking to Gutstorm, Geijon says, "Even you."
Speaking heartily to Mourdeyan, Chamorr says, "Didnt answer the question."
Speaking to Vaemyr, Chandrellia says, "Lylia explained it to me and I see where she is comming from thank you tho."
Speaking quietly to Chamorr, Mourdeyan says, "No matter their station, or what they have or haven't to offer."
Elidal takes a drink from his cinnamon coffee.
Lylia says, "Not being expendable and feeling valued are two rather different things. I do see whence the concern, and I believe you do too."
Elidal nods at Lylia.
Elidal says, "A concern I look forward to celebrating with you all when it lessens."
Lylia says, "It can be done. You should have seen the reception Thadston Andrews got when he arrived."
Speaking to Ulfwine says, "I wish you a good evening, m'Lord."
Elidal says, "..and now he is your Mayor."
Elidal smirks.
Tikba wryly says, "I fear the first step is to stop being expended."
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Hopefully tonight wasn't too bad, I look forward to next time, although we still have many more other things to discuss."
Lylia says, "Of course, he did tear off a man's arm and beat him with it..."
Speaking to Elidal, Goldstr exclaims, "Me blade be ready to protect da next caravan!"
Evialla says, "Funny lil ole town hm."
Speaking to Elidal, Tikba says, "Perhaps one day you will rise to such heights."
Elidal stands up.
Speaking to Goldstr, Evialla says, "No more merlot for you."
Speaking quietly to Elidal, Mourdeyan says, "As is mine."
Vaemyr says, "I also appreciate the food and drink, this coffee is excellent."
Speaking to Goldstr, Ulfwine says, ""It is the drink."
Speaking to himself, Yardie whispers aloud, "Wait and see."
Drazaa whispers something to Kayse.
Speaking to Evialla, Perigourd says, "It is rather good though."
Speaking to Elidal, Lylia says, "I do not suppose you have spoken much to your brother about his coming interviews and tests."
Elidal says, "I should retire for the night. There is countless work to be done. We will break bread again in the future, and perhaps Gnul's neck as well."
Chamorr heartily says, "We should form a mercenary force."
Gutstorm surreptitiously slaps a bright yellow sign reading "KICK ME!" on Elidal's back.
Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Night elidal!"
Elliathe says, "Goodnight, M'Lord."
Lylia says, "I appreciate that he is approaching it with a serious mind, at least."
Elidal says, "I know he expects to reveal his application in a week-ish."
Mourdeyan quietly says, "That'll be a celebration."
Elidal nods at Lylia.
Yardie says, "Wiat."
Tikba says, "It is always a pleasure, Elidal."
Irval says, "Thats a proclamation I can get behind."
Elidal says, "He is ever the perfectionist."
Citan deeply says, "Well... I hope the chocolate what spiced enough for ya."
Gutstorm just went through a set of large wooden doors, dragging Yardie with him.
Seaward Gutstorm just arrived.
Speaking to Elidal, Lylia says, "Excellent."
Irval exclaims, "Break bread and gnulls neck!"
Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Till next time."
Irval says, "That should be your slogan."
Lylia says, "Be well."
Speaking to Elidal, Yardie says, "You've a sign on your back."
>l elida
You see Lord Elidal Dhenin.
He appears to be a Human.
He is tall and has a muscular build. He appears to be young and robust. He has sharp indigo blue eyes and tanned skin. He has short, silky strawberry blonde hair. He has an angular and chiseled face, a thin nose and a smattering of light stubble along his face.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a mug of cinnamon coffee in his right hand.
He is wearing a bright yellow sign reading "KICK ME!", a lacquered fireleaf locket, a single-shoulder cape of cream wool lined with silk, a folded leather satchel, a sleeveless coffee leather jerkin secured up the front with gold buckles over an open-necked viridian linen shirt, a woven black and white ring, a tooled cognac leather scabbard, a small slashed leather pouch, some fitted beige buckskin pants, and a pair of knee-high bronze oiled leather boots.
Kayse whispers something to Drazaa.
Speaking to Elidal, Missoni says, "Thank you for this meal."
Speaking quietly to Elidal, Mourdeyan says, "Fair eve and good rest sir."
Elidal says, "The food and drink will remain, enjoy for as long as you wish."
Speaking to Gutstorm, Yardie exclaims, "I'm trying to protect you!"
Elidal says, "Goodnight to you all my friends."
Tikba says, "Thank you for sharing this meal with us."
Elidal bows.
Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "Good eve."
Lord Elidal just went through a set of large wooden doors.
Kayse yells, "There's a sign on your back!"
A bolt of lightning streaks down from the sky and strikes Gutstorm!
... 19 points of damage!
Heavy jolt to right eye chars the optic nerve. Now that's pain!
He is stunned!
A tremendous crack of thunder follows instantly!
