Synopsis

The sound of heavy cannonfire echoes across Darkstone Bay, heralding Captain Bodohal asking if the town has found his deserter yet. Councilor Vaemyr and Perigourd make the cases, respectively, that the town has no obligation to help him and that it's a lot of trouble to go to for one man who just knocked over cannonballs, but Bodohal asks what kind of captain he'd be if deserters go unpunished. Councilor Kiyna tries to lure him with a manifest, but gets no response. Bodohal surmises that the town hasn't found Tolmis and another cannonade heralds a smaller ship being reduced to wreckage. He warns there will be more if the Landing doesn't find Tolmis, then sails away for now.

A group of adventurers reconvenes in the council chamber to recap the situation according to Tolmis. He was an Imperial Navy recruit who discovered that his Captain had turned to piracy. Although Bodohal has slain crew members for mutiny, Tolmis stole and fled with a manifest that would expose his crimes; therefore it's suspected that Bodohal is less interested in Tolmis than the manifest itself.

The manifest Kiyna tried to lure Bodohal with was a fake one, hoping to bluff him into coming ashore to be captured. She doesn't have the manifest, nor does Tolmis, whose escape boat was destroyed in the bay before the Rooks saved him from drowning, leading him to join them.

Meanwhile, Lord Elidal greets everyone over thoughts and Sir Guarrin's group heads to the campsite. Elidal thanks everyone for their help and says the dead have been recovered and there'll be a ceremony for them. Lady Aronia is out finding a measure of peace and he's sent Commander Sablo to cut off future caravans and either send them home or escort them to Vornavis or Mestanir for the winter. He hopes for no more caravans for three weeks and that the battles with Gnul can be resolved by then, though he can't promise that and Lady Iliyaas has warned him now of the deep winter storm.

Elidal sees Dendum and says he's heard that he's not the barony's biggest fan, but thanks him for finding and guarding Aronia. He offers a handshake, which Dendum ignores; Dendum says maybe wisdom will come with his Green Sisters, as growth does not occur in the winter and he hopes they'll remind him of that and slow the cutting of the forest.

Sir Bristenn says the Order of the Azure Sun will be aiming to secure Vornavian guardsmen for future caravans. Vaemyr says that Commodore Jaysehn has an open offer to escort settlers coming by sea.

A Vornavian Missive

Delivered to the Court of Vornavis and bearing the sun-and-wings seal of the Order of the Azure Sun, the missive reads as follows:

To His Excellency Baron Dunrith Malwind, Swan Lord of Vornavis
and His Court in the Baronial Seat

As now that the settlers en route to the forming new territory of the Barony of Darkstone are, wisely, being diverted to safer havens until winter breaks, word has no doubt reached the Court of Vornavis that caravans will be arriving to our lands. I have no doubt my liege in his honorable wisdom is as well making ready for their arrivals.

It is with this that the Order of the Azure Sun offers up those lands His Excellency has enfeoffed upon us by the Right to Crenellate for use by Vornavis, in accordance with her right by the homage in vassalage paid by this Order.

We welcome not just these settlers to make camp for winter upon these lands but to do so under the protection and succor of our arm. Thus we would do so in honor of our liegelord and his beloved house, and fair Vornavis.

It is our honor to serve and protect this fair barony, her people, and her lord.

Ardently,
Sir Bristenn Colfren Mires
Imperial Knight of Vornavis
Steward-Adjudicator of the Order of the Azure Sun
Bannerman of the White Shield

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Pukk disk, the Teutalalla disk, the Maleagant disk, the Morbad disk, the Durrem disk, the Ketiosin disk, the Urpy disk, some wolifrew lichen, some wolifrew lichen, some wolifrew lichen, some wolifrew lichen, some wolifrew lichen, a kobold-shaped gingerbread cookie with candy buttons, a large acorn, a kobold-shaped gingerbread cookie with candy buttons, a sinuous bone white serpent that is sitting, a large acorn, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, some acantha leaf, some torban leaf, some torban leaf, a slice of Ma Leaftoe's Special, a slice of Ma Leaftoe's Special, a slice of Ma Leaftoe's Special, a large acorn, a fluffy white cat that is sitting, a flower-covered paper box, a gelatinous elk fat tart, a lump of wax, an ironfern root, a hummingbird feather, some wide stone benches with some stuff on it, an herbal remedy donation bin and a round silver-banded barrel.

Also here: Drektor, Bernadette, Pukk, Teutalalla, Maleagant, Morbad, Durrem, Ketiosin, Lord Grorin, Lady Urpy who is sitting, Riptyl

Speaking deeply to Pukk, Roelon says, "Sounded like Helga fell into the bay."

[General] Zeed thinks, "Cannons in the bay."

Pukk asks, "Was there a tidal wave?"

[General] Zeed thinks, "Hurry up and grab them, they sink not float."

[General] Irval exclaims, "Cannon fire in the bay!"

Roelon deeply says, "Maybe it was just her stew."

[General] Zeed thinks, "It is a diversion."

[General] Zeed thinks, "Go check, trust me."

[General] Tikba politely asks, "Captain Bodohal?"

[Wehnimer's, North Dock]

The dock's planks are dull and weathered from the salt spray of many seasons. Northward beyond the massive sea gates, a flock of ice geese passes, silhouetted against the sky over the waters of Darkstone Bay. The hulk of a derelict coastal sailer is tethered to the end of the pier. You also see the Vaemyr disk, the Seagle disk, the Khoal disk, the Demanec disk, the fiery red Grouk disk, the Trackesh disk, an animated troll-claw hovering in mid-air, an emperor penguin, the Kiyna disk, the repousse copper Perigourd disk raised in leafy designs, the Guarrin disk, a black book flying around with its feathery wings, the flaming Nairena disk, a thin-fingered dark grey tarsier, a yellow-eyed silvery lor mandrake with glossy holly leaves sticking out of her head, a lazy wild dark red dog, a fluffy white cat, the Geijon disk, the Mnar disk, the Elliathe disk, the Bellaja disk, a furious dune spirit that is flying around, a sapphire-eyed pale golden margay, a black imperial wagon with a glowing blue-white pylon on it, a portly portmaster, a stack of empty crates, a wide ramp, a rope-lined wooden plank bridge that leads to the archway of a large moored white-masted ship, a huge grey imperial warship and a huge grey imperial warship.

Also here: Town Councilor Vaemyr, The Infamous Demanec, The Infamous Grouk, The Infamous Seagle, The Infamous Trackesh, Commodore Khoal, Town Councilor Kiyna, Sir Guarrin, Perigourd, Lady Nairena, Town Councilor Kayse, Mnar, Sir Geijon, Stormyrain, Lady Elliathe, Hospitaller Yukito, Lord Thrassus, Imperatrix Lylia, Bellaja, Earthdiver, Magister Raelee, Sir Cryheart, Tikba

Mnar complains, "Some irresponsible captain, interrupting a delightful night of philosophy."

Vaemyr says, "Seems like he is still further out than he was before."

Perigourd says, "I wonder who they would have been engagign.."

Perigourd corrects, "Engaging rather."

[General] Irval exclaims, "Darkstone bay!"

Speaking to Perigourd, Kiyna says, "He was firing on fishing vessels before."

Cryheart says, "Or someone on a ship got drunk and decided to celebrate."

Speaking to Perigourd, Missoni says, "Perhaps the krolvin fleet has found its way here."

Speaking to Perigourd, Vaemyr says, "Potentially acting as a pirate again, could be robbing merchant ships or who knows."

Roelon deeply says, "Nae sure ah want ah face full of iron again. He does nae greet people well."

Tikba politely asks, "Where were we?"

Dendum says, "North docks."

Tikba says, "That is where we are."

Speaking to Tikba, Dendum remarks, ""Ahh...how far back did you wish to go?"

The billowing amber-hued sails of a massive blue man o' war reflect the moonlight as it comes into view on the horizon beyond Darkstone Bay, the ship's deep blue hull sparkling with an uncanny iridescence.

Mnar says, "Oh that's a lovely ship."

Earthdiver says, "Why is it all sparkly. That is a nice paint job."

Speaking to Earthdiver, Missoni admits, "I do like it."

Nairena says, "Its very pretty."

[General] Urpy exclaims, "Incoming Man o' War, Darkstone Bay!"

Speaking to Mnar, Dendum says, ""Is massive ship."

Mnar says, "Do we have to be enemies? It's so stylish."

Tikba says, "Perhaps you will get a closer look."

Elliathe asks, "Should I head to triage, or remain here?"

[General] Irval asks, "Should we have the pylons activated?"

Kiyna complains, "Of course it's blue. Lame..."

Kayse assures, "I think you are fine to stay."

Dendum says, "Would be odd to be in bluewater brigade and paint ship green."

Vaemyr says, "Shame the Mayor forbid us from using these without his explicit permission..."

Vaemyr glances at a glowing blue-white pylon on a black imperial wagon.

Nairena says, "Or pink."

Dendum exclaims, "Or orange!"

Speaking gratefully to Kayse, Elliathe says, "Thank ye, Councilor."

Tikba amusedly says, "But the water must be blue, not the ship."

Pukk says, "Somebody is watching us."

Tikba says, "It is not the Blueship Brigade."

Speaking to Nairena, Kiyna says, "Don't let Pookia on it, or it'll be pink within minutes."

[General] Bodohal exclaims, "...is this turned the right way? Oh it is! Well, hello! If it isn't my favorite new town!"

Speaking to Tikba, Dendum offers, ""Perhaps it is Blue....water...brigade."

[General] Kayse evenly asks, "What do you want, Bodohal?"

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "That's not bodohal's ship? I thought it was, being... uhhh blue."

Speaking to Tikba, Dendum says, "So blue ships on the water...not sure about brigade part."

Cryheart says, "Well, it could be the ship is firing on another ship...cause I dinnae hear of any cannon balls exploding in the Landing."

[General] Irval thinks, "Captain Bodohal, what is a piece of driftwood like yourself after you actions of last doing back so soon? We figured you'd take to pirating if you haven't already."

Bellaja jokes, "It's blue. Must be krolvin."

Speaking to Cryheart, Elliathe says, "Yet..."

Speaking to Cryheart, Guarrin says, "Firing on local ships in the bay is not much different."

Cryheart asks, "Do we know which ship is firing yet?"

Speaking to Dendum, Tikba says, "I fear the brigade refers to the cavalry and siege weapons he carries on board."

[General] Bodohal asks, "You know it isn't what I want! It's who I want! Did you find my deserter yet?"

Cryheart says, "Exactly, but it could be whom we think is responsible."

Speaking to Tikba, Dendum says, ""With so many of the sailors now perhaps it is blue water....squad? Think this is right word."

Elliathe asks, "Deserter?"

[General] Pukk thinks, "We have Irval for you. You can take him anytime."

[General] Geijon asks, "How about a trade, Bodohal?"

Kiyna says, "We've been told Bodohal possesses extremely dangerous siege weapons designed to demolish solid stone walls. He could do incredible damage to the town if not handled carefully."

Kiyna cautions, "Just a thought."

Speaking to Elliathe, Lylia says, "I have never met the man, but I believe he sought someone in particular...someone else may know more details."

Tikba says, "Bodohal claims that he had a deserter named Tolmis, who is hiding here."

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "We have no obligation to help you with any deserter."

Tikba says, "In fact this is all true, but incomplete."

Speaking to Elliathe, Missoni explains, "He is looking for someone who stole away from his ship."

Elliathe says, "First firecasters, now cannons..."

[General] Perigourd thinks, "It's an awful lot of trouble to go to for one man who supposedly simply knocked over some cannon balls."

Speaking to Elliathe, Missoni says, "For reasons that have changed with each of his tellings."

Cryheart says, "Took his longboat accoring do Bodohal."

[General] Bodohal asks, "A trade? What are you offering for trade? Who is Irval?"

[General] Irval exclaims, "Hey!"

[General] Xess asks, "Are you willing to clear a bar tab for em?"

Speaking to Tikba, Elliathe says, "Both make an empath go splat."

[General] Perigourd thinks, "Surely you could find yourself a better seaman than him to replace."

Kelfyr says, "Lot of ruckus for a longboat."

Bellaja bluntly says, "We all know that's not really what he wants."

Cryheart says, "That could be his excuse."

Speaking to Bellaja, Perigourd says, "Indeed."

Mnar says, "This is what happens when you give a small man a big boat."

[General] Irval asks, "And no, Im not for trade. But I have the information that you seek in regards to whom you seek. Shall we play a game?"

Tikba asks, "What is Irval doing?"

[General] Bodohal asks, "Deserters can't go unpunished. I have to save face with this one. I can't just let my sailors go deserting their crew, or what kind of captain would I be?"

Lylia says, "Acting as though he has authority he does not."

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "Being... disruptive."

[General] Kelfyr asks, "Are your actions warranted by your command? I'd think firing on a protectorate would cause quite a bit of trouble up the chain of command, would it not?"

Mnar says, "No idea, but even odds it involves that dead grifflet of his."

Speaking to Lylia, Geijon says, "Bodohal doesn't know that."

[General] Irval asks, "You sure its not about what they took from your quarters?"

[General] Perigourd asks, "A captain whose crew wants to desert in the first place says something about the captain, no?"

Speaking to Mnar, Elliathe says, "You got the words out before me."

[General] Directed to Bodohal, Dendum asks, "The kind with a full crew?"

Lylia sourly says, "He would not take long to realize that the knowledge promised is not forthcoming."

[General] Lucchese thinks, "One might opine that a captain who inspires desertion is perhaps not worthy of the title."

[General] Vaemyr asks, "Perhaps then we could discuss an arrangement then?"

Tservin asks, "Oh, ya'll getting on my ship?"

[General] Directed to Bodohal, Dendum exclaims, "Offer silvers!"

[Realm] Guarrin thinks, "I would very much like to speak to Magister Remuliad, Captain. A neutral perspective may help with this situation."

Tservin says, "I don['t think ya'll fit."

Tservin says, "Some of ya be walking le plank."

Kelfyr says, "If we did, I don't know if it'd still float."

[General] Directed to Bodohal, Nalver thinks, "I have an idea. You let us load up all the captured settlers that Gnul keeps stealing. We'll put em on your ship and give you directions to Ta'Vaalor. I hear there are lots of lands over there and they love humans."

Thrassus asks, "What?"

Tikba murmurs, "I fear for Remuliad's safety if Bodohal feels threatened."

[General] Nalver thinks, "And I'll pay you directly for your shipping of them."

Dendum asks, "Was warning that captain would possibly slit the throat of the magistar not enough to stop the yammering about magistar?"

[General] Bodohal thinks, "I take it that you haven't found my deserter then."

Tikba corrects, "Magister Remuliad."

Cryheart asks, "So he does hae the magister on his ship?"

[General] Nalver asks, "Is it Sablo?"

Tikba says, "He admitted as much, but claimed the magister was free and not chained."

[General] Kiyna thinks, "You don't want the deserter. You want the manifest I have in my possession, that was on his person. That is what I am offering to trade."

[General] Irval thinks, "Oh your deserter has been found , and in company of ill repute."

Kiyna reaches out and pulls a waterlogged off-white manifest from thin air!

Kiyna taps a waterlogged off-white manifest, which is in her left hand.

[General] Lylia thinks, "That is a large collective 'you.' Someone may know something, but it is hard to judge from a distance."

[General] Lucchese thinks, "Additionally, I fail to see how locating YOUR misplaced deserter is a duty that should fall upon us."

Speaking to Tikba, Guarrin says, "I was merely curious if we could get a word from the Magister."

Irval asks, "You have a manifest?"

Kelfyr says, "Told you, books float sometimes, if they're bound well."

A lengthy cannonade echoes across Darkstone Bay, and the silhouette of a smaller ship vanishes beneath the waves as a massive blue man o' war changes course towards deeper waters! Cannons continue to flash in the night for a moment, even after the sunken ship is left a floating wreckage.

Earthdiver says, "Pop."

[General] Directed to Lucchese, Mauss opines, "Thank you."

Bellaja says, "Great."

Thrassus asks, "So he's just going to sink random ships then?"

Elliathe muses, "I am left to wonder *why* the Imperials continue to want the citizens of the Landing to do their dirtywork?"

Kiyna says, "So that's his answer..."

Earthdiver says, "This is why I don't have a boat."

Bellaja says, "Irval angered him and now more innocents will die."

Speaking to Bellaja, Mnar says, "To be fair, Irval had plenty of help."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Dendum remarks, "Remind again how great fleet of landing is going to protect sailors on ships?"

Irval says, "How could I anger him? I said nothing an old salt like him cant take."

[General] Saraphenia exclaims, "Hey Captain Killington! Take your murdering ways back to your Empire and leave our town alone! We don't want you here, you murderer!"

Speaking to Perigourd, Lylia asks, "Were you able to find anything?"

[General] Tservin exclaims, "Make'em walk le plank!"

Speaking to Irval, Vaemyr says, "Perhaps you should not try to wield authority you do not have."

Speaking to Mnar, Bellaja says, "I suppose, but his voice was the loudest when he has not been voted to speak for the town."

[General] Bodohal exclaims, "That's two ships lost. Find Tolmis, or I'll add another to the tally!"

Irval asks, "Im not allowed to speak as a citizen?"

Kelfyr says, "You don't speak for the citizenry. There's a difference."

[General] Lylia asks, "What can you tell us about this Tolmis?"

[General] Nalver thinks, "Ohh. Tolmis? He set up a tent over in Lower Dragonsclaw."

Speaking to Irval, Mnar asks, "You can... but is it wise for you to speak as a citizen, on a matter that affects the entire town?"

[General] Kiyna thinks, "Like I said, Captain, you don't want Tolmis. You want this very interesting manifest I have here with me."

[Realm] Guarrin thinks, "Captain, firing on ships in a protectorate port is ill advised."

Cryheart asks, "Perhaps the council could ask for a parlay?"

[General] Nalver thinks, "The one that's near the crossroads, sort of. You'll see a telescope and some falcons and stuff. Bomb it."

[General] Tikba thinks, "We have searched, but I fear he does not wear a tag denoting his name."

[General] Directed to Bodohal, Dendum thinks, ""You will run out of food before this town surrenders to the empire."

Guarrin says, "I think we are well past discussions."

[General] Pukk thinks, "Cryheart wants to know if you want parsley."

Speaking to Guarrin, Perigourd says, "Indeed."

Urpy melodically says, "When I reclaim my crown, that fool will hang."

The amber-hued sails of a massive blue man o' war fade from view as it turns to deeper waters, beyond Darkstone Bay.

Reviewing the Situation

Kelfyr says, "The task is easier if he's off the boat."

Cryheart says, "Too late."

Tikba says, "He will not be gone too long."

Irval says, "See I was willing to give up the information about Tolmis."

Irval says, "But holding back."

Irval says, "Ships sank."

Pukk says, "We should have offered him Irval and parsley...maybe then he would be happy."

Lylia says, "Then why did you hold back? If you are going to assume authority, you must also bear responsibility."

Speaking blandly to Irval, Tikba inquires, "Yes?"

[General] Lahanna exclaims, "Threaten him with greens and he runs!"

Speaking to Irval, Vaemyr asks, "Would you like to go "give up" people to Gnul too?"

Perigourd says, "If he learns of his location, he will come in force to take him."

Cryheart says, "I would nae offer to give up information, until this Tolmis provides us more information, in my opinion of course."

Speaking softly to Irval, Mnar says, "We can't quite be certain that your... negotiations would have led to any other outcome."

[General] Nairena thinks, "Beware the killer parsley."

[General] Lucchese thinks, "May fair winds and following seas find his ship aground."

Irval says, "So I should just shut up and not have an opinion apparently."

Tikba asks, "What information would you give him?"

Lylia says, "Yes. Tolmis' story should be heard too."

[General] Mauss agrees, "Thass da Scurvy Schooner, dat is, or well on da way."

Missoni says, "It would also be awfully nice to know what the manifest says, that it was so important to take from the ship."

Cryheart says, "No, you hae the right to your opinion."

Speaking to Irval, Bellaja says, "Yes, in regard to negotiations."

Irval says, "Had no idea there was a manifest."

Thrassus says, "We can just go ask Mother to talk to him."

Irval says, "Apparently the counsel kept that to themselves."

Speaking to Irval, Bellaja says, "Exactly why you shouldn't be speaking."

Tikba asks, "If we were to tell him that Tolmis is a Rook, hidden in the Landing, what do you expect his next move to be?"

Geijon says, "I wonder if th' Captain has to report personal belongings."

Irval asks, "Bellaja who are you again?"

Vaemyr whispers something to Lylia.

Kayse flatly says, "That isn't the manifest."

Speaking to Irval, Mnar says, "In circumstances like this, it is often useful if the town speaks in unison... or at least as something of a chorus."

Lylia patiently says, "No, you have a right to an opinion. You do not have a right to negotiate on behalf of the town. No more than this captain has the right to negotiate as an official Imperial mouthpiece."

Speaking to Tikba, Perigourd says, "As they reside in tunnels under the town, he may shell the town to drive them out."

Speaking to Kayse, Missoni asks, "Ah, a ruse?"

Speaking to Bellaja, Stormyrain says, "As if you just arrived, off a turnip wagon."

Speaking to Irval, Dendum remarks, ""Is odd to name a person and then ask who they are..."

Bellaja says, "Someone you'd do well not to make an enemy of."

Tikba says, "That is what I would expect."

Speaking to Irval, Dendum asks, ""You get hit in head with rock?"

Speaking curiously to Missoni, Guarrin asks, "What manifest?"

Irval says, "No an arrow."

Tikba says, "Information about Tolmis would lead to a demand for Tolmis."

[General] Mauss dryly continues, "And I don' suppose those are Krol slavers that they're lightin' up out dere."

Irval says, "And maybe a rock or two."

Tikba says, "Which we cannot fulfill."

Speaking to Guarrin, Missoni says, "The one the Councilor just offered in trade."

Speaking to Irval, Dendum says, ""Hrmm well...this explains much."

[General] Lucchese asks, "Perhaps we ought to send a rescue vessel, for any survivors?"

Vaemyr says, "Perhaps we can go to a... quieter place to talk? and some that are unaware and be informed a bit about Bodohal, and what he wants."

Speaking to Kiyna, Guarrin asks, "You have his manifest?"

Geijon says, "Some folks might be playing with false cards and rounded dice."

Tikba whispers something to Kiyna.

Speaking to Lylia, Mnar says, "See? Ignorance is the root of evil."

Vaemyr says, "Talking about this out here on the docks is ill advised."

Irval says, "No I dont think I will. I think Ive had my fill of politics for the evening."

Speaking to Mnar, Geijon says, "Tolerance usually is."

[General] Mauss thinks, "I'll crew! I can fire a cannon! ...sorta. ...kinda. Ish."

Urpy melodically says, "We should post watch."

Elliathe admits, "I have had an... unsavory thought about all this, if I may?"

Speaking to Mnar, Pukk says, "I don't feel evil..."

Bellaja glances west.

Kiyna says, "I can explain all. I agree that we should probably go elsewhere, first."

Speaking to Kiyna, Guarrin asks, "Preferences?"

Kelfyr says, "I hear the Rusty Cutlass serves a fine mead."

[General] Urpy thinks, "Seconded."

Speaking to Kiyna, Vaemyr asks, "Perhaps your office?"

Speaking to Bellaja, Dendum apologizes, ""Sorry that one was hit in head with rock."

Bellaja simply says, "I just do not like him."

Dendum says, "Few days rest will be better."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kiyna asks, "With this crowd?"

Vaemyr says, "Or the chambers."

Mnar asks, "Is the value of this manifest lost if its secret is spread?"

Guarrin says, "Fine. Offices then."

[General] Lucchese thinks, "I'm fresh outta boats, myself."

Kiyna says, "The chambers work well enough."

[travel]

Bellaja says, "It's okay. I was hard on him, but honestly... he jeopardizes too much."

[Moot Hall, Council Chamber]

A rich merlot carpet stretches from end to end of this large, spacious chamber, which is aglow from the moonlight shining in through several arched windows along an entire wall. Large, verdant green plants rest in terra cotta vases in each corner of the room, and the walls are decorated with detailed paintings of nearby historical landmarks. A circular table sits in the center of the room, surrounded by several wooden chairs. You also see a pink oak door, a polished red cedar door, a reinforced oak door, an ivory-washed birch door and a wide burnished oak archway.

[General] Lylia thinks, "Some strong swimmers ventured the cold waters of the bay but found nothing but wreckage."

Mnar asks, "If we are all babbling to Bodohal about the contents of his manifest, will he care to negotiate with us any longer, or will we have lost our leverage?"

Geijon says, "I was hungry."

Stormyrain says, "That one tends to speak, loudly and often. Even if what he is saying is incorrect."

Vaemyr says, "I don't know who all Bodohal might still have in town."

Stormyrain says, "I have found it's becoming more common in the Landing."

Vaemyr says, "So better to talk in here."

Speaking to Perigourd, Geijon says, "Maybe if we'd die."

Tikba says, "I am sure nobody is lingering here to hear us."

Elliathe quietly offers, "Could this Bodahol be acting in this distasteful manner in order to give a shine to Elidal? Sort of Bad Captain, Good Baron-to-be?"

Lylia flatly says, "He epitomizes the statement 'an empty barrel booms the loudest.' We should not waste further effort on him."

Bellaja whispers something to Stormyrain.

Speaking to Elliathe, Perigourd says, "Highly doubtful."

Vaemyr says, "Unlikely knowing what Tolmis told us."

Speaking to Elliathe, Lylia says, "It would be an interesting gambit, but in this case, I do not think Elidal is that good an actor."

Kiyna says, "I have spoken with Tolmis."

[General] Cryheart asks, "Any specific thing in the wreckage?"

Speaking to Kiyna, Vaemyr says, "If you would like to explain, what we know, and well... what potentially the plan is."

Elliathe says, "Forgive me if I spoke out of turn, It was just something that came to mind."

[Realm] Geijon thinks, "Seemed like an empty boat he fired on as fodder."

Vaemyr says, "Tis fine."

Kiyna says, "He was an Imperial Navy recruit, with patriotic aspirations, only to find himself under the command of a dishonorable pirate."

Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "Also highly doubtful."

[General] Mauss suspiciously thinks, "...so Clown-Shoes out dere 'as time to round up empty boats for a shock and awe display, but can't find his own deserter? Sounds a l'il TOO convenient to me."

Kiyna says, "Captain Bodohal has, to hear Tolmis tell it, slain his own crew before for mutiny. But he fled anyway. In doing so, stealing a manifest from Bodohal that would shine a light on his crimes."

Mnar says, "Did he have anything to say about that ship? It appeared rather imposing for a pirate's junk."

Speaking to Mnar, Dendum says, ""He is captain of mighty empire vessel."

Tikba says, "It is in fact the imperial man of war it appears to be."

Speaking to Tikba, Perigourd says, "Beyond a standard one."

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "Actually is a bit more."

Kiyna says, "We strongly suspect Bodohal's real goal in tracking down Tolmis is the collection of his manifest, which would expose him to the Imperial authorities and strip him of the privileges he enjoys as a Captain."

Mnar asks, "Ah... a real Imperial captain, but one who has turned to piracy?"

Kelfyr says, "Privateer."

Cryheart says, "That is indeed possible."

Speaking to Kiyna, Geijon says, "Tolmis went out of his way th' evening during our fight with Gnul when Irval was killed by Rooks to say it wasn't his doing."

Elliathe quietly mutters, "So all of this is a self serving attempt to cover his own hindquarters."

Speaking to Kiyna, Guarrin says, "What does the manifest say."

Earthdiver asks, "So are we going to release the manifest publicly?"

Kayse crisply says, "Excuse me. I am needed else where."

Speaking to Mnar, Dendum says, ""Bit of this...bit of that."

Earthdiver says, "Or do we want something from him."

Speaking to Kelfyr, Tikba says, "Surely the actions of a privateer are known to his employers."

Speaking to Elliathe, Bellaja says, "It's being painted as that, but I have to wonder.."

Kiyna says, "This manifest, I have here... is not the one Tolmis stole from Bodohal."

Speaking to Kiyna, Mnar says, "Before you reveal the contents, be aware, doing so may ruin any leverage we have over him."

Mnar says, "Oh, well."

Earthdiver asks, "So we don't have it?"

Irval darkly asks, "A bluff?"

Strong winds can be heard coming from outside.

Kiyna says, "I was hoping to lure him ashore, where he could be captured."

Bellaja says, "We see this Tolmis.. nice enough fellow and he shows up telling us a story that we believe because he says so."

Elliathe asks, "Is the weather picking up outside?"

Kiyna says, "Dealing with him is much easier if we can remove him from his ship."

Bellaja adds, "However, first thing he does is join the Rooks."

Speaking to Irval, Mnar exclaims, "Well, you should team up with Kiyna, next time. You could bluff together!"

Irval darkly says, "That man is addicted to games."

Kelfyr says, "First thing he does is be taken in by a protectorate."

Bellaja comments, "I can't say I haven't scratched my head about it, though."

Speaking to Bellaja, Kiyna says, "Tolmis said his boat was destroyed in the Bay. He encountered a storm."

Speaking to Kelfyr, Bellaja says, "Eh, I suppose."

Speaking to Bellaja, Kiyna says, "The Rooks saved him from drowning."

Speaking to Kiyna, Bellaja says, "Uhm."

Stormyrain says, "Mayhaps sharing these types of plans, and information, is something to consider--in the future."

Speaking to Kiyna, Bellaja asks, "Who was it who was beaten in the street then?"

Ulfwine says, "Good evening."

Bellaja says, "Juramis helped him.."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Mnar asks, "And trust us all to keep a secret?"

Kelfyr says, "I'm sure they'd have stayed quiet."

Irval darkly says, "The Captain has a penchant for roshambo in a form of information exchange."

Stormyrain says, "It makes it difficult to defend the town when we have no idea what is true, what is folly--or what the Council intends. Which seems very counter to what a Council should be."

Irval darkly says, "Which is what I attempted to do."

Speaking to Mnar, Stormyrain asks, "What secret?"

Flecks of snow fall quietly from the sky, glistening like crystalline teardrops frozen in time.

Stormyrain says, "Tolmis is known."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Dendum says, ""There was fear that too much talk would have the captain dispose of....guest easiest way possible on the sea."

Speaking to Bellaja, Missoni says, "That was Todd, the militiaman."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Mnar asks, "That we're attempting to lure him ashore to capture?"

Speaking to Stormyrain, Dendum says, ""Dead and over side."

Bellaja exclaims, "Ah! Todd!"

Vaemyr says, "If he comes ashore, we can detain him for questioning for acts of piracy as we've seen him commit in the bay, disruption in town caused in Helga's, and firing on citizens in the bay."

Bellaja says, "I'm glad I asked. I was getting a little fuzzy for a moment."

Speaking to Mnar, Stormyrain says, "And what has changed? Yet the information is now shared."

Irval darkly says, "Tolmis was with Mother before she tried to rally a rebellion. That was Tolmis."

Guarrin says, "And, why, would he..."

Guarrin casually glances at Tikba.

Speaking to Missoni, Bellaja says, "I've been spending too much time with people from Solhaven and their penchants for drinks."

Elliathe admits, "Ah indeed, I remember him now."

Vaemyr says, "Seems a stormy night outside."

Speaking to Bellaja, Missoni says, "Such is life in port."

Thrassus says, "Casiphia is not well, she should be somewhere getting help."

Geijon says, "Now Todd and Juramis, highly suspicious timing."

Bellaja repeats, "Todd."

Vaemyr says, "But perhaps we can disuss further ideas about dealing with Bodohal later."

Speaking to Geijon, Bellaja says, "That situation had me a little..."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Perigourd says, "Board her, or sink her."

Geijon says, "Juramis, as a Councilperson, contributes to a long line of uneven performance in th' role."

Bellaja says, "Why not take him to Akrash."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Perigourd says, "The concern I would have is for the Magister aboard, who may be caught up in the middle."

Speaking to Perigourd, Vaemyr says, "Need him to let down his guard at least slightly to do either of those."

Stormyrain bluntly says, "I have worked with many Mayors. From Walkar on. I have worked with several Councils, including those comprised of beings no one thought I could work with-- and never--never have I felt less valued as the Marshal than with the majority of this Council. Pardon me."

Vaemyr says, "So things we learned about the ship."

Stormyrain inclines her head.

Stormyrain just went through a wide burnished oak archway.

Kelfyr says, "Much easier to board a ship at anchor than one spinning around the Bay."

Speaking darkly to Perigourd, Irval says, "Or if he's deep in his research knows not of the events that transpire around him."

Earthdiver says, "Just cut a hole in the bottom."

Dendum exclaims, "Ahh good! Someone else this council does not listen to!"

Vaemyr says, "It has anti-magic prisons inside where the magister is kept, it also has various traps and such on board."

Earthdiver says, "A ship in bay is hardly safe from anything."

Bellaja says, "Oh my.."

Kiyna says, "If you'll excuse me..."

Kiyna sighs.

Town Councilor Kiyna just went through a wide burnished oak archway.

Speaking to Aureliano, Elliathe says, "Well met again, M'Lord."

Bellaja says, "That's not like Stormy."

Tikba says, "The Mayor has not approved the use of the pylon against Bodohal. We may not act without him."

Vaemyr says, "Glad for Stormy to say something like that and run off, when I've tried to consult her about several matters including Bodohal..."

Meeting With Elidal

[General] Elidal thinks, "Hello."

Tikba says, "Nor is it clear that, if the ship is hardened, we could sink it before he could strike back."

Speaking to Aureliano, Guarrin greets, "Good to see you."

[General] Perigourd thinks, "Fair Eve, Lord."

[General] Urpy thinks, "Hello there."

Irval says, "Well sometimes its better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission..."

[General] Elliathe thinks, "Good eve, M'Lord/."

[General] Mauss thinks, "Howdy."

[General] Zeed thinks, "Ello."

[General] Tikba gently thinks, "Good evening, Elidal."

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "Hello Elidal."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Mnar says, "It's clear that frustrations abound this evening."

[Realm] Guarrin thinks, "Lord Elidal. Good evening."

[General] Irval thinks, "Good evening."

Kelfyr says, "That does require the asking of forgiveness, at some point, to be true."

Speaking wryly to Irval, Tikba asks, "Why ask for forgiveness, if you acted rightly?"

[General] Irval asks, "How is your lady?"

[Realm] Cryheart thinks, "Good evening, Lord Elidal."

Speaking quietly to Aureliano, Elliathe informs, "Elidal, who's thoughts ye may hear, is the future Baron of Darkstone."

[General] Ulfwine thinks, ""Good evening Lord Elidal."

Kelfyr says, "Well, now it's a Council chamber with no council."

Kelfyr asks, "Raid the bar?"

Cryheart asks, "Perhaps we should find Lord Elidal?"

Guarrin says, "Well, let's head out and check."

Speaking appreciatively to Elliathe, Aureliano says, "Thank you. It has been some time since I've been in the Landing."

Guarrin asks, "Shall we head to the camp?"

[General] Lylia thinks, "Good evening to you and yours."

Kelfyr says, "Would be a good starting point at least."

[travel]

[General] Zeed thinks, "Get comfy, keep your things packed, busy outpost."

Kelfyr says, "Wouldn't surprise me if he's under the harder walls of the Outpost."

Kelfyr says, "After yesterday."

Guarrin muses, "He may be."

Tikba gently says, "The altar, perhaps."

Elliathe asks, "Where did the councilors go?"

[Imperial Campsite]

A roaring bonfire demands attention from the center of this temporary town, its coppery gold flames mesmerizing as they dance. Rows of tents bordering the fire create purposeful pathways to other areas of the camp. You also see a frost-covered yellow-eyed silvery lor mandrake, the repousse copper Perigourd disk raised in leafy designs, the web-draped Missoni disk, a stained wooden keg and a long wooden log.

Lord Elidal just arrived.

Bellaja says, "They sulked off."

Elidal moves over to a log and sits down.

Evia says, "Good eve Sir."

Elidal slowly empties his lungs.

Elidal stares into the fire.

Tikba gently greets, "Elidal."

Cryheart says, "Good evening, Lord Elidal."

Missoni greets, "Lord Elidal."

Bellaja sincerely says, "I don't know what else to call it."

Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine says, ""Good evening m'Lord."

Irval says, "Give the man a drink. He's had a hard week."

Elidal says, "Good evening."

Earthdiver offers Elidal a snifter of 75 year old cognac.

Elidal accepts Earthdiver's 75 year old cognac.

Earthdiver nods at Elidal.

Elidal turns toward Earthdiver and renders a sharp salute with his 75 year old cognac.

Elidal takes a drink from his 75 year old cognac.

Elidal takes a drink from his 75 year old cognac.

Elidal smacks his lips.

Elidal says, "I wanted to thank you all again for your aid last evening."

Elidal says, "I know we lost....we lost many. In a very gruesome manner."

Elidal says, "...but our efforts should never cease."

Cryheart says, "Aye, was painful to see the destruction."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd asks, "The slain were taken to rest this evening?"

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "Indeed."

Lylia solemnly says, "I am sorry for your losses and hope that the Lady Aronia and her aide are some solace in a dark time."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "I stood vigil with them for most of the afternoon."

Elidal nods at Perigourd.

Elidal says, "Thank you."

Elidal says, "The dead have been recovered, within and out of town."

Elidal says, "There'll be a ceremony for them all in the coming days."

Elidal says, "Lady Aronia is, she is out there, finding some measure of peace I am sure."

Elidal says, "She'll return to the camp soon."

Tikba politely says, "Guarded, I hope."

Cryheart says, "May she find that peace."

Elidal says, "Sablo returned late last night. I have sent him away."

Elidal nods at Tikba.

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin asks, "Sent him away?"

Thrassus asks, "Away as in dismissed?"

Lylia echoes, "Sent him away...?"

Elidal says, "He is to cut off any and all future caravans and send them back home, or help escort them to Vornavis or Mestanir for the winter."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd asks, "What happened with him amidst the battle?"

Tikba says, "That is right."

Speaking to Elidal, Irval asks, "Who is to take charge then of your men here?"

Thrassus asks, "I assume you mean to solve the Gnul issues before bringing any more caravans?"

Elidal says, "My hope is for no more caravans for the next three weeks."

Elidal says, "Sablo is not dismissed of command."

Elidal says, "I would hope the Gnul issue is resolved, I cannot promise this..."

Speaking to Elidal, Elliathe admits, "I believe countless lives will be saved by this decision."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "That is...a far range for him to cover. I am certain they will be made comfortable in Vornavis, at least."

Elidal says, "But I have been warned of a deep winter storm coming soon, by Lady Iliyaas."

Elidal nods.

Tikba vaguely says, "Yes, we have as well."

Elidal says, "It will..."

Elidal nods at Tikba.

Elidal says, "Oh, then you know."

Elidal nods.

Ulfwine says, "It is bad enough already."

Thrassus says, "It's likely best that they do not travel in such weather, yes."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Aye... we heard about it, and other things when she first spoke to us."

Elliathe asserts, "Indeed."

Elidal says, "It will last for weeks. Between those conditions, and Gnul's activity, and lack of proper escort guard duty at this time, I've paused the caravans."

Tikba says, "It is well decided, lord Elidal."

Missoni murmurs, "It seems sensible."

Elliathe wonders, "With the storms closing in, what can be done to make the settlers here more comfortable?"

Elidal says, "Settlers had embarked so far from Mestanir, Jantalar, the edges of Talador, even as far as Phannus."

Lylia suggests, "We should still be watchful for those who venture here on their own, despite the weather."

Speaking to Elidal, Bellaja agrees, "Indeed. I think we here could use some time to get matter sorted."

Speaking curiously to Elidal, Guarrin asks, "And the status of what remains of the commander's forces? They are still stationed here?"

Elidal says, "Sablo seeks to cut them off in Mestanir and Jantalar, and return within a week or so. Word has been sent to Vornavis, who will welcome those from Phannus for the time being."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Elidal says, "Sablo took some of his best, the rest remain here."

[General] Zeed thinks, "So I out walking my, stand corrected, being walked by mastiff and there are still body parts and such strewn about? Who cleans up this royal mess?"

Elidal says, "We will spend the next few weeks keeping our people warm and fed, and building defenses and expanding our military force."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin adds, "And training them, of course."

Elliathe says, "A prudent course."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

[General] Taravangian thinks, "You will become part of nature."

Elidal says, "They knew the risks..."

Elidal says, "We all did..."

Elidal says, "But..."

Elidal shakes his head.

Elidal frowns.

Irval says, "Nothing is certain in the frontier."

Cryheart says, "Not speaking for the council or mayor, but I am sure some of the houses within the Landing will offer room and board for the settlers."

Lylia quietly says, "Knowing a thing academically and understanding it thoroughly are two different things."

Tikba murmurs, "You had not seen it before."

Elidal says, "I also wanted to thank you all for your generous donations to the camp."

Speaking to Elidal, Thrassus asks, "Was last night the first time you have seen such things firsthand?"

Elidal says, "So far, the donation bin has brought in 9.5 million silvers."

Evia says, "No one with high hopes for a good future ever expects to be murdered."

Ulfwine says, "Very nice."

Cryheart says, "The citizens can be generous."

Elidal says, "That will help measurably in hiring new soldiers, training, feeding our people, and providing more warm clothing and bedding."

Speaking to Elidal, Missoni asks, "If there is anything else in particular you need, I hope you will let us know?"

Elidal says, "You are as generous with your silver as you are your blades."

[General] Zeed thinks, "Perhaps, but not today."

'Elidal says, "I thank you."

Elidal nods at Missoni.

Elidal says, "We will, yes."

Tikba says, "Oh, no, we are much more generous with our blades."

Tikba says, "But generous enough with both."

Elidal says, "The children of the camp are working on something for the town. I have not been told what it is."'

Elidal shrugs.

Evia says, "Oooh."

Cryheart whispers something to Guarrin.

Elliathe exclaims, "That sounds lovely!"

Elidal sighs.

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "The offer for training still stands, of course."

Elidal stands up.

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Elidal says, "We will take you up on that."

Speaking quietly to Elidal, Elliathe wonders, "All this talk of others, M'Lord, but... if I may, how fare *ye*?"

Elidal says, "They could learn much from your Order, and the militia."

Elidal says, "I am only as good as my people."

Elidal nods at Elliathe.

Elliathe nods at Elidal.

Elidal says, "Tonight, I am sad. I am beaten, but I am not broken. But I will mourn, as will my people, but we will all survive, and build better."

Speaking understandingly to Elidal, Elliathe says, "As a healer I understand that sentiment entirely."

Elidal says, "I am not naive to think there would not be a single life lost or a drop of blood spilled."

Elidal says, "I am a practical man."

Speaking to Elidal, Geijon says, "Marshal Stormyrain has significant experience in ramping up forces. It would be a good start with Commander Sablo detained."

Tikba quietly says, "Survival is sometimes what we have."

Elidal says, "But I am not unmoved by loss, because I am in fact, a man."

Irval says, "But knowing it will happen and seeing it happen is completely different."

Elidal nods at Geijon.

Elidal nods at Irval.

[General] Zeed thinks, "Killing is easy, not great skill there. Mending and correcting, not so easy when egos are involved."

Ulfwine says, "On a more pleasant note, the newly constructed chapel is quite nice."

Elidal says, "Thank you. I hope you will make good use of it."

Elidal nods at Ulfwine.

Ulfwine says, "Most assuredly."

Elidal says, "The people need something to believe in now more than ever."

Ulfwine agrees with Elidal.

Elidal looks over the crowd for a moment.

Elidal moves to stand in front of Dendum.

Elidal asks, "Dendum, yes?"

Dendum blinks.

Dendum nods at Elidal.

[General] Zeed asks, "Great scholars of the landing answer me this, which should you fight, the talking mountain or the tiny shadow controlling it?"

Elidal says, "I have heard you are not...how should I say it..."

Elidal asks, "Our biggest fan?"

Elidal chuckles.

Dendum nods once.

Elidal says, "That seems a safe way to say it."

Elidal kneels down.

Bristenn offhandedly mentions, "He is right small, isn't he."

Tikba blandly asks, "Does it?"

Elidal says, "...but thank you, for finding Aronia and guarding her and ensuring we found her."

Elidal extends a hand to Dendum.

Speaking to Alosaka, Guarrin greets, "Squire."

Dendum nods at Elidal.

Dendum glances at Elidal.

Elidal looks down at his hand, then shrugs.

Elidal stands up.

Elidal says, "I don't bite."

Elidal chuckles.

Speaking to Elidal, Dendum says, ""Perhaps your...wisdom will come with your green sisters..."

Elidal says, "They have work to do, and they will see it done."

Speaking to Elidal, Irval asks, "Psst. Maybe you shoulda of sat down so you could see him eye to eye?"

Elidal says, "The land does not need to suffer endlessly for growth to occur."

Evia asks, "I could play the pipes of peace?"

Evia taps something in a dark ruby-buttoned pack with a majestic golden phoenix outlined in crimson embroidery.

[General] Urpy asks, "It's the problem of a trained dog, isn't it?"

Speaking to Evia, Stormyrain mouths, "No."

Elidal looks into the fire.

Speaking to Evia, Stormyrain mutters, "That's like Metadi asking to pull out the bagpipes, for the love of Koar."

Perigourd says, "Life is a cycle, after all."

Speaking to Elidal, Dendum says, ""Growth does not occur in the winter, one would hope these sisters would remind you of that and you would slow the cutting of logs."

[General] Urpy thinks, "You can't defeat the dog, but you can defeat the handler."

Elidal says, "I can still smell them..."

[General] Zeed thinks, "No such thing as a bad dog, bad trainer/handler."

Ulfwine says, "It is a smell you do not forget."

Lylia quietly says, "You get used to that, with time."

Speaking gently to Elidal, Tikba says, "You will remember them, each night, for some nights."

[General] Zeed thinks, "Gnul is a front, while you are busy chasing Gnul, the wolves creep in."

Elidal says, "I am not good company tonight I am afraid."

Speaking gently to Elidal, Tikba says, "And then you will remember them less."

Cryheart says, "Understandable."

Elidal says, "Thank you again for all of your help..."

Speaking to Lylia, Geijon says, "Holding onto the memory when it didn't, is wise as well."

Alosaka quietly asks, "Did we bury those settlers here? The ones we recovered, I mean?"

Elidal says, "Let us all stay warm."

Elidal says, "We will be burying them and having a ceremony soon."

Elidal nods at Alosaka.

Speaking to Alosaka, Guarrin says, "Apparently there was a small ceremony earlier as well."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "It's... a somber night, perhaps nothing else is really needed other than just enjoy the fire."

Speaking to Elidal, Missoni agrees, "Stay warm, Lord Elidal."

Alosaka says, "Graves have a way of anchoring the living, just as much as the dead."

Speaking briefly to Elidal, Bristenn ventures, "A moment of your time before you depart, Lord Elidal?"

Elidal says, "The fire brings little comfort for now."

Elidal nods at Vaemyr.

Speaking to Elidal, Lylia says, "I shall not wish you a hollow 'rest well' for there is no easy rest for you, I suspect. Instead, I shall wish you strength."

Elidal peers quizzically at Bristenn.

Speaking to Elidal, Elliathe says, "Good eve, M'Lord."

Vaemyr nods slowly at Elidal.

Elidal asks, "Yes Sir Bristenn?"

Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "As to your point about your people needing something to believe in. That must be you. You need to be that belief. You must show strength when they are weakened. You must show courage in the face of fear. And most of all you must have belief in yourself."

Elidal bows to Lylia.

Elidal says, "My thanks Lylia."

Speaking to Guarrin, Bellaja asks, "Ceremony?"

Elidal grins at Irval.

[General] Zeed thinks, "How hard is it to hide something that large? Who could do it? Why would they? sometimes the answer is no farther than a mirror or a friend."

Elidal nods at Irval.

Tikba says, "Ah, one of the Green Sisters held a small ceremony, to bless the settlement with fertility."

Guarrin says, "Ah, different ceremony. Thank you."

Speaking to Tikba, Perigourd asks, "When was this?" [It was about six hours earlier.]

Speaking carefully to Elidal, Bristenn assures, "Particularly in .. regards to recent events, my order will be doing what we can to secure Vornavian guardsmen for future caravans coming up the trail."

Elidal nods at Bristenn.

Speaking to Perigourd, Tikba says, "A few hours earlier. You would have been on vigil, I fear."

Elidal says, "Thank you Sir Bristenn, and my thanks to Vornavis."

Bristenn slowly adds, "It is something, but with His Excellency occupied, movement has been slower than acceptable in that regard."

Guarrin whispers something to Bristenn.

[General] Zeed thinks, "Killing the puppet does not remove the hand."

Speaking simply to Elidal, Bristenn offers, "And for what it's worth, I am sorry we could not have acted sooner on this last. We had no word."

[General] Tikba patiently asks, "Can you be more specific?"

Elidal says, "When it comes time for the caravans to begin again, between both Orders, and our growing numbers, I hope we can avoid any of these incidents."

Elidal nods at Bristenn.

Elidal says, "I appreciate it."

Speaking to Elidal, Alosaka says, "Speaking for myself only, but I'm sure there are others as well. We would be honored to attend the ceremony for those you lost."

Elidal says, "We have tried to coordinate as much as possible, but when word spread of the new Barony..."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "While he is not here, he has spoken with me and know that Commodore Jaysehn's offer still stands for the sentinal fleet to escort settlers that might come by sea."

Elidal says, "Many took it upon themselves to form up and make the trek."

Lylia says, "Chaotic times."

Elidal says, "Even without warning."

Speaking to Elidal, Elliathe says, "Hopefully we will have dispatched Gnul by that point."

Elidal nods at Lylia.

[General] Pukk thinks, "Unless it's a sock puppet. Then killing the puppet should kill the hand too. Unless there is an empath nearby..."

Elidal nods at Vaemyr.

Elidal says, "By sea, some may end up coming, especially those who come up from Phannus and Vornavis."

Bristenn agrees, "Rather. Land offered to a people who have only heard of its scarcity their whole lives .. makes the risk seem worth it."

Elidal nods at Bristenn.

Speaking to Elidal, Geijon remarks, "Lady Athalia of Vornavis gave an inspiring....address a few days ago, it was very much for th' success of people and settlers looking for brighter futures."

Elidal says, "There is promise, there is opportunity, it is new and exciting, and for those displaced from Talador, or those unhappy with their current lives or seeking a new start...it is alluring."

Elidal nods at Geijon.

Speaking to Geijon, Lylia says, "Word of that inspiring speech came to me even when I was not there to hear it."

[General] Zeed thinks, "It is right in front of you but you are blinded by loyalty and by a false face."

Ulfwine says, "This will be a fine place to settle in the coming months."

Elliathe says, "The Clean Slate can be alluring, to be sure."

Dendum reminds, ""The landing has always been open to those seeking new starts."

Speaking to Lylia, Guarrin admits, "It was...impressive."

Evia says, "A new home of their own, a fresh start at a new life, brings great hope to people."

Elidal nods at Evia.

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "One cannot deny the courage necessary to pursue such a hopeful endeavor."

Elidal says, "More hope, less tragedy, is my goal."

[General] Zeed thinks, "I raher enjoy watching it play out, just makes the ones thinking they are rescuing look even more foolish."

Speaking to Ulfwine, Kiyna says, "The following months are a terrible time to settle here. Winter was not a good choice, but that certainly can't be changed now."

Elidal says, "Goodnight everyone. Thank you for your words, your company, and your support."

Elidal bows.

Tikba gently says, "Good night, Lord Elidal."

Speaking to Elidal, Missoni says, "Farewell, Lord Elidal."

Elliathe says, "Good eve, M'Lord."

Elidal looks into the fire once more, clenches his jaw, then walks off deeper into the camp.

Discussion Afterward

Speaking to Kiyna, Ulfwine says, ""Winter will end, and it will not be months."

Irval says, "He'll get better. Akarti willing."

Stormyrain glances between Vaemyr and Kiyna.

Stormyrain asks, "If either of you, Councilors, see the Mayor before I do, will you let him know I wish a word?"

Vaemyr nods at Stormyrain.

Kiyna nods at Stormyrain.

Tikba murmurs, "He is young."

Stormyrain just went west.

[General] Zeed asks, "High priority arrival coming to an outpost that can defeat anything they think, they never bother to escort the priority themselves? Yet tehy are they first to find them?"

Elliathe states, "Whatever my feelings on the Empire may be, Elidal truly seems to be a good man."

Tikba says, "I hope you received my application, Marshal."

Lylia says, "In the grander sweep of history, influxes of settlers are nothing new. This is just a larger wave of them than most."

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "She seemed in a hurry."

Vaemyr says, "Indeed."

Alosaka says, "Good people, a good leader..."

Tikba says, "As Dendum said, the Landing has always been a place to go to seek a new life."

Elliathe says, "As for the rest of it, I still do not trust the Empire."

Irval says, "Toss a coin to ya wii...never mind."

Speaking to Alosaka, Lylia says, "Sounds quite dangerous."

Speaking to Elliathe, Ulfwine says, ""He seems to feel much. Whether that will help, hinder, or perhaps both . . ."

Speaking offhandedly to Guarrin, Bristenn remarks, "Erstwhile, one imagines we could have used the old Cairnfang camps in this situation."

Speaking to Tikba, Dendum remarks, ""Yes...the landing....away from the empire."

Speaking to Bristenn, Guarrin says, "I am curious how it will go with those arriving in Vornavis."

Evia says, "Protectorate of, so not so far away as all that."

Bellaja says, "Say.."

Irval says, "Alright im off to meet with a monster."

Speaking to Dendum, Vaemyr says, "Who's to say he won't end up more like us and less like the empire. The various baronies are all vastly different."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Dendum says, ""Did not know you became seer on path to servant."

Bellaja asks, "Shouldn't we have asked Elidal about the captain?"

[General] Zeed thinks, "I suppose they were too busy watching turnips grow rather than escort Priority things, but they showed up to save certain ones while the common children and such died, real heroes and protectors."

Speaking to Bellaja, Guarrin says, "We have."

Bristenn neutrally muses, "Depending on which direction whence they come, there'll be some work all around."

Elliathe asks, "If I may? thinking of both situations at play... Is Bodahol so far gone as to fire on a ship of settlers?"

Bellaja says, "I mean as a baron, couldn't he tell Bodohal to stnad..."

Bellaja says, "Oh."

Bellaja corrects, "Stand.."

[Realm] Directed to Guarrin, Yukito thinks, "I admit to being excited to have new citizens, and possibly more trade."

Lylia admits, "We probably should have, or at least mentioned his recent actions, but...ah, he seemed to have so much on his mind tonight. Understandably so."

Speaking curiously to Dendum, Alosaka asks, "Is it not enough that he is a good person?"

[General] Zeed thinks, "True example of Landing hospitality."

Bristenn slowly reasons, "Sunholm can support a fair sized garrison, but not a full caravan. We'll have to make do."

Lylia says, "Of course, as a ruler, he shall have to deal with even more."

[General] Zeed thinks, "Ask about the griffins."

Kelfyr says, "Good people are asked to do ill advised things all the time."

[General] Zeed asks, "Who actually started that?"

Speaking to Bellaja, Vaemyr says, "He told us that we can deal with him, and when the time comes offered us assistence if he's still a problem at the time. I hope it does not take that long though, as you can see Elidal has... other pressing concerns with his resources."

Ulfwine asks, "What of the Northern Caravansary? May anything be done with that?"

Speaking to Bellaja, Raelee says, "Technically, the Imperial Navy answers to the Sun Throne, not the baronies."

Speaking to Bristenn, Guarrin says, "Appreciated. Our location makes it rather difficult for the Holding."

Speaking wryly to Vaemyr, Tikba asks, "What resources?"

Speaking to Kelfyr, Alosaka says, "But, all things being equal, I'd rather start with a person of good character."

Speaking to Ulfwine, Perigourd says, "That's still within the seeming reach of Gnul."

Speaking to Ulfwine, Perigourd says, "The Vornavis Caravansary though.."

[General] Zeed thinks, "Enough clues and hints, i have faith in the lands, not everyone is blind to power."

Speaking reasonably to Ulfwine, Bristenn offers, "They would have to make the trip, and it sits close enough to the Tophs that they may be in danger."

Raelee continues, "... but if a baron is to intervene, Baron Malwind is likely far, far better equipped to do so."

Speaking to Alosaka, Kelfyr asks, "Wouldn't that require all things being equal?"

Speaking to Ulfwine, Guarrin says, "Vornavis proper, or Sunholm, would be safer."

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "The cartagropher here makes some very nice maps."

Speaking to Raelee, Bellaja says, "Ah! Thank you for clearing that up. I'm afraid I left Fairport before all of that was beaten into my brain."

Speaking to Kelfyr, Alosaka says, "Yes, but that is the point of thought exercises."

Speaking to Ulfwine, Guarrin says, "But the idea has merit."

[General] Alosaka asks, "...didn't the griffins start it?"

Speaking to Bellaja, Raelee says, "Of course."

Ulfwine says, "Yes, it is closer than is useful I suppose."

Bristenn agrees, "If it can support, yes. The lands outside the granites are well defended and patrolled."

Tikba says, "At the very least, if the caravan departed from Vornavis, we would know its route, and be able to act."

Ulfwine says, "The stockade would need reinforcement I imagine."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Bellaja says, "Yes, but in the end he will need to learn how to juggle it all just as everyone here is trying to."

[General] Lylia thinks, "Essentially, yes, at Gnul's command. They are just beasts, doing the things that are their nature to do."

Speaking to Tikba, Guarrin says, "Hopefully, by sea."

Alosaka says, "Perhaps even escort it from Solhaven."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Bellaja says, "For tonight, though.."

Bristenn slowly reasons, "There are several dreadful bottlenecks along the caravan trail."

[General] Irval asks, "Zeed are 'wha?"

Bristenn adds, "And the Stoneharrow is ripe for lost wagons."

Bristenn simply offers, "Proper escort, however."

Vaemyr says, "Seems though we will be able to much better prepare before any more come, and we'll know the routes and be able to provide proper escorts."

Kiyna says, "It's not even enough that we defeat ambushing troops - we need also protect the wagons. Hurled boulders are difficult to intercept."

Kelfyr says, "Rife with banditry as well, that trail."

Speaking to Bristenn, Vaemyr says, "Exactly."

Speaking to Kelfyr, Guarrin says, "Something I know all too well."

Evia says, "If there were places where there is a higher degree of safety, they could break up the journey into smaller jaunts, resting and keeping warm and safer, in between stops."

Kelfyr says, "As are we."

Geijon says, "I'll never understand when someone views another as such an enemy that they'd accept defenseless refugees and children or families to die for th' sake of their position or opinion on a matter."

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Iskandr says, "Perhaps building fortifications on the route up so that caravans are never far from safety."

Evia says, "And making smaller, less noticeable targets of themselves, which is sad to have to even say."

[Realm] Directed to Iskandr, Yukito thinks, "Something to consider."

Geijon says, "And it's odd when those who speak loud, vanish when th' city is attacked by Gnul."

Speaking to Iskandr, Guarrin says, "Reasonable. For the route further away from the mountains."

Alosaka says, "I'm not sure there's any way to guarantee the caravan will be safe, given the forces we've seen Gnul muster."

Speaking to Alosaka, Dendum offers, ""Kill Gnul."

Evia says, "True."

Speaking in Faendryl, Thrassus says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Geijon, Bellaja says, "It makes you wonder why they are so desperate to resort to those measures."

Speaking to Geijon, Kelfyr says, "Some who disagree also have blood on their hands in its defense."

Lylia loftily says, "Half of them do it just to cause consternation and shock, and if anything of their own were truly threatened, they would weep and beg for surcease."

Speaking to Dendum, Alosaka says, "Fair enough."

Speaking to Alosaka, Guarrin says, "Well, it seems we will have some time until the next caravan."

Tikba says, "That is what we must do."

Speaking to Geijon, Bellaja says, "What is so important.."

Speaking to Dendum, Vaemyr says, "I think we can all agree on that."

Bristenn casually muses, "I could propose to my liegelord more strongholds along the trail. Start with strongholds and hillforts."

Iskandr says, "Thinking as an outside perspective of course, but that is what Vaalor would do if we were protecting our interests."

Elliathe says, "The first step is taking out the rest of his catapults."

[Realm] Directed to Dendum, Yukito thinks, "Well, naturally."

Dendum says, "As much as some here wish to see children die by Krolvin instead of giants the sea path has its own ways of killing the weak."

Elliathe says, "Lest he repurpose them to burning the town again."

Bristenn dryly comments, "I am uncertain how such news would be received elsewhere, of course."

Geijon says, "Sometimes allusion and perception is a mistake of others. Best to sit in a circle and bare it out, truthfully."

Kelfyr says, "Something that large can't hide that many place."

Kelfyr says, "Places."

Geijon says, "Th' Landing and th' North in general often has much in common."

Geijon says, "Even when we have bitter disagreements."

Speaking to Bristenn, Guarrin adds, "Other problems with that, as well, I imagine. Clearing the areas around the trail and so forth."

Iskandr says, "The seas are rough this time of year, and I feel the Krolvin fare such discomforts better than the Imperial navy in being used to it."

Vaemyr says, "So something else I'd like to bring up..."

Bristenn agrees, "Right. Your temporary motte needs a fair amount of earthwork."

Tikba says, "The lack of caravans does not mean there will not be more attacks. But without easy victims, we may beat those attacks back."

Iskandr says, "But that is my own opinion and one can be free to disagree as they wish."

Speaking to Alosaka, Dendum says, ""Secure the land path is far easier than crushing the Krolvin fleet."

Speaking to Iskandr, Kelfyr says, "Revel in it, some of them."

Speaking to Guarrin, Evia says, "Where there is a will and enough funds, there is often a way."

Bristenn amusedly reminds, "Though I am no engineer."

Speaking to Iskandr, Perigourd says, "I would expect the imperial navy to be quite used to sailing in all weather."

Lylia says, "And for that matter, I do not trust Bodohal out there on the seas either."

Tikba says, "We must take these weeks to find another blow to deliver Gnul."

Speaking evenly to Dendum, Alosaka says, "You may be correct, or you may not. But I would not suggest that you wish children to die because of it."

Speaking to Tikba, Bellaja asks, "Yes, but who will be attacked now?"

Speaking to Evia, Guarrin says, "True, but, it seems we have a winter to take the fight to Gnul and prepare for the next caravan."

Speaking to Lylia, Elliathe says, "Just so."

Vaemyr says, "What's Gnul's source of information? He knows way too many details about people, knew about Larsya liking to act as a pirate, has figured out the locations of the caravans where even Elidal didn't know."

[Realm] Yukito wryly thinks, "I am usually of the opinion that the Chronomages should allow larger transports for such occasions, but failing that, we do what we must."

Speaking to Alosaka, Dendum reminds, ""Well can keep doing it the empire way and stick them in transportation and hope for best."

Speaking to Perigourd, Iskandr says, "Surely, they're a great navy, but if I was to visit a bookee to place money on an equal force battle in a cold winter water, well..."

Vaemyr says, "He has to be getting information fed to him in some what."

Speaking to Lylia, Perigourd says, "He did seem to be unbothered as long as Lord Elidal wasn't coronated."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Tikba murmurs, "He was quite well informed on Gutstorm's movements."

Speaking neutrally to Yukito, Raelee says, "... they will likely allow it, for a price."

Tikba says, "I found it surprising at the time."

Bellaja says, "I need to search the towns for which buildings might have steel domes or roofs."

Iskandr says, "The Empire would probably win a percentage of the time, but I will take the Krolvin odds."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kiyna says, "I have long suspected Gnul may not even be a stone giant. Bear in mind, we have never actually seen him."

Speaking to Kiyna, Vaemyr says, "We have."

Vaemyr says, "Just not up close."

Kelfyr says, "It doesn't help that his movements are loud and raucous."

Iskandr asks, "Do you wish to gamble with civilians on the seas in winter?"

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kiyna says, "We've seen a distant figure standing atop a cliff, and heard a voice in our minds."

Speaking to Iskandr, Alosaka says, "No, and I wish people would stop suggesting that we're being cavalier or gleeful with the lives of children."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Ulfwine asks, ""I was going to say, close enough to be sure the figure that appears to be Gnul is actually him?"

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kiyna says, "We have no way of knowing that was Gnul."

Tikba neutrally says, "You would not be the first to suggest that Gnul is an illusion created by a force for their own reasons."

Guarrin repeats, "The Lord said they will be spending the winter in Vornavis or Mestanir."

Geijon says, "Less targets for Gnul. We'll get to th' meat of th' matter then."

Tikba asks, "It may be so. How may we discover it?"

Speaking to Alosaka, Iskandr says, "I just suggest all routes are dangerous and there is no easy answer to your issue."

Bristenn offhandedly remarks, "And he uses the dreamstone. Bit advanced, that."

Speaking to Alosaka, Lylia asks, "How else will people know how impassioned you are, and how noble, if you do not accuse your enemies of killing children and salting fields?"

Vaemyr asks, "Regardless... even if an illusion, where are they getting their information?"

Speaking to Alosaka, Lylia says, "I question your commitment."

Speaking to Alosaka, Dendum remarks, ""Jovery was arse end of Rolton to send these people north in the winter with so little in the way of defense. This young Baron may not know better but that old wolf surely does."

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "It's certainly the case that Gnul, whether he is a stone giant or nod, commands an enormous alliance of local monsters."

Kelfyr says, "I'd imagine after that speech I heard about, Vornavis would be eager to take the travelers in for a while."

Dendum says, "And this ground feasts on the blood."

Speaking to Dendum, Alosaka asks, "Did Jovery know of Gnul?"

[General] Pukk thinks, "It's quiet in town."

Tikba says, "He knew of the Landing."

Ulfwine says, "And from Elidal has said, many took it upon themselves to make the journey here."

Speaking to Dendum, Vaemyr says, "That was one thought of someone who has the ability to both create a... clone of a stone giant, and also find out all of this information."

Tikba says, "As some have mentioned tonight, the Landing is under attack by many forces regularly. Even by the Illoke who attack us now."

[Realm] Yukito calmly thinks, "The Baron's family is very proactive in attempting to aid people that are displaced and in need."

[General] Lylia thinks, "Many are gathered by the bonfire in the Imperial camp, talking and taking the chill from our feet before walking to town."

[General] Mauss quips, "...Famous last words, perchance."

Dendum adds, ""And they did research."

Earthdiver says, "It's like they don't like us."

Speaking to Lylia, Perigourd says, "They're leaving the fire in the belly though."

[General] Pukk asks, "It's nice and quiet here. What can go wrong?"

Vaemyr says, "But I feel like Grishom is... more passive in his approaches, so doesn't feel like his style."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kiyna says, "I don't see why there's any need for clones or illusions. The stone giant we saw on the cliff may well have been real. Just... not Gnul."

Speaking to Tikba, Bellaja says, "It's like a circus with three rings here. Gnul, Bodohal and the empire."

Speaking to Kiyna, Tikba says, "The alliance is certainly real."

Evia says, "He always, always wants something."

Lylia remarks, "I cannot possibly confuse the actions of a stone versus those of the Stone."

[General] Pukk thinks, "Besides, I have Owly for company. He is guarding TSC and eatting cookies."

Speaking to Bellaja, Vaemyr says, "There are at least like two more rings around."

Speaking to Dendum, Alosaka says, "I'm sure Earl Jovery would appreciate your appraisal of his insight."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Dendum inquires, ""What is more passive than bleeding both sides into the ground while not lifting finger?"

Speaking to Vaemyr, Bellaja asks, "What do you see those as?"

Speaking to Lylia, Xorus asks, "Is Stone appropriating 'the' from me now, as well?"

Speaking to Bellaja, Vaemyr says, "The factions of our town in the middle of it all."

[General] Urpy asks, "Is Owly the patron guardian of the town square now?"

Geijon says, "Grishom is really th' impetus of all this side-eye and conflicting manner of loyalties. Th' Landing was far more united before him and that was always his intent to divide us."

Lylia says, "No, I do not think he would dare."

Geijon says, "He still lost, more than once, including his life three or more times."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Bellaja says, "Ah. The hardest one to control."

[General] Pukk thinks, "Of all of Landing."

[General] Directed to Urpy, Mauss asks, "What does Scuttlebutt say?"

Lylia says, "You know...if you say 'The Xorus' quickly enough in Common, it sounds a good bit like 'thesaurus.'."

[General] Pukk thinks, "Bodohal is afraid of Owly and with good reason too."

Speaking to Xorus, Lylia says, "I imagine this pleases you."

Xorus says, "When you look up 'Xorus' in a thesaurus, you find 'The Dreadlord'. So there is a symmetry in it all."

Guarrin says, "Well that gives us the winter to solve the Captain and Gnul. Plenty to be done."

Alosaka says, "These families began preparation for uprooting their lives and moving here months ago. They could not have known the first thing about Gnul or this alliance of his. And yes, we can say that their leaders should have, because the Landing is always threatened by some monstrocity or other... and yet...."

Ulfwine says, "I shall pay a vist to the new chapel."

Alosaka asks, "Weren't many people suggeting that Gnul's attacks and alliance only started because of this Imperial claim?"

Speaking to Alosaka, Lylia says, "Yes, they were."

Speaking to Alosaka, Iskandr says, "Should install some new leaders if these ones are so bad."

Speaking to Alosaka, Bellaja says, "Sadly the threat is still there even if the caravans aren't."

Speaking to Alosaka, Dendum remarks, ""You are saying they started trip..."

Speaking to Iskandr, Alosaka says, "Alas, humans lack the gift of prophecy in the best of times, and in the worst of times we are only able to prophecize defeat."

Speaking to Alosaka, Dendum exclaims, ""When town was under siege by Krolvin?!"

Xorus says, "I wonder if the gnolls declined, or were not invited for being too small."

Bellaja says, "Not to mention the Reivers.."

Speaking teasingly to Dendum, Bristenn asks, "Which krolvin siege?"

Speaking to Dendum, Alosaka says, "More likely, afterward. It was a peaceful time."

Iskandr says, "I used to hate that one that now leads this town, but he's grown on me a bit."

Bristenn notes, "There's been a dreadful number of those."

Speaking to Dendum, Vaemyr says, "I don't think they started coming until the original announcement of the barony, based on what Elidal said tonight."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Dendum remarks, ""This is another way of saying Alosaka is wrong?"

Vaemyr says, "But that the caravans, formed and started moving, before any organizaiton actually took place."

Evia asks, "Bears, lions, griffins, beasts all...who can direct beasts to do a thing in any sort of coordination?"

An old man limps through the area, his eyes nearly hidden under bushy brows, but sparkling with hunger as he chews upon a turkey leg in his gnarled hand, grease dripping down his wrinkled chin. [ambient message]

Evia asks, "Some sort of shaman?"

Earthdiver says, "Sympathy."

Speaking to Dendum, Vaemyr says, "I am just clarifying, what we just heard a short while ago."

Speaking to Earthdiver, Bellaja says, "I don't know, but that old man has some real insomnia to be pacing this place with a turkey leg for the past hour."

Speaking in Faendryl, Thrassus says something you don't understand.

Lylia says, "Big leg."

Thrassus says, "The Illoke are a religious organization of sorts, so shaman would be a close descriptor."

Earthdiver says, "I keep noticing it and it's making me hungry."

Speaking to Evia, Perigourd says, "Rodnay."

Evia says, "Turkey, mmm."

Vaemyr says, "That when the announcement of the Barony was formed, people just decided to pack up and come. Those people probably had zero clue what they were in for, probably thought if the empire was establishing a new barony it was already "Safe"."

Evia says, "Interesting."

Bellaja says, "Next thing we know you'll have turkey legs in your basket."

Earthdiver says, "One can hope."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Alosaka says, "But Dendum just told us that Jovery sent these people here."

Earthdiver says, "It's mostly candy and alcohol at this point."

Thrassus says, "Well, organization might be too generous a term. Perhaps 'fanatic cult mob' would be more accurate."

Speaking to Alosaka, Dendum remarks, ""Who announced the Barony was formed?"

Speaking to Vaemyr, Perigourd says, "More likely they were simply willing to risk much for a better life."

Iskandr asks, "I missed a bit in these past few days. What has occured with that....what is his name? The Captain....Bodak? And that other one, Sabaro? The griffin stomper?"

Speaking to Dendum, Alosaka says, "That's a bit of a stretch, even for you."

Iskandr says, "I apologize, their human names do not flow off my tongue."

Speaking to Alosaka, Dendum says, ""Your words make as much sense as this winter migration."

Speaking to Perigourd, Vaemyr says, "Risk of the frontier maybe, but I assure you none expected to beset by an army of monsters the moment they entered the area."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Bellaja says, "Could we just consider that while announcements of the barony were happening, the Hall of Mages was also discussing the Reach and I think reaching out to Enisius."

Earthdiver says, "It's not turkey, but it will do."

Speaking to Bellaja, Vaemyr says, "I honestly have no clue what the Hall might of discussed, that would be a question for the magister."

Speaking to Iskandr, Lylia says, "We heard from Bodohal earlier about his 'deserter,' Tolmis. As for Sablo, he is not going to be here for some time, as he is moving south to halt and protect caravans moving up to and through the region."

Alosaka says, "I'll conceed that this whole settlement process could have been more... organized, let's say. But when people are desperate they will act in a hurry, as we all well know."

Speaking to Alosaka, Dendum remarks, ""Heard from the mouth of Alosaka that things are not so desperate in the borders of the empire..."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Bellaja says, "I'm assuming as he showed up wiith a plan in mind and took action."

Earthdiver asks, "How many thousands are in these migrations?"

Speaking to Dendum, Alosaka says, "On the contrary, I believe things are quite desperate in parts of the Empire."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Bellaja says, "So I think that might also be a possible avenue of information Gnul could have overheard."

Iskandr asks, "And these refugees are from....which one was that? The Taladar Baronry? The one that was ravaged?"

Speaking to Vaemyr, Perigourd says, "Considering that our southern border harbors regular attacks by demons and undead, the dangers of the wizardwaste, the bleaklands.. I find it hard to think that an imperial citizen wouldn't have some idea of the potential for such a danger. More likely they simply thought what most folk do, that it wouldn't happen to them."

Speaking to Iskandr, Alosaka says, "Many are, yes."

Alosaka says, "A rather... desperation-making place, let's call it."

Evia says, "From many areas."

Earthdiver asks, "Talador was destroyed. But I don't know how many survivors?"

Lylia says, "We only need to look around and see that many of the people in this settlement are still in rather ragged shape. Prosperous people do not typically travel so quickly, nor with so little."

Bristenn offhandedly comments, "Talador, Mestanir, North and parts of South Hendor. Some might even be from so far as Torre and Estonia."

Iskandr asks, "Where has the Empire allowed them to settle for the last....hmmm, five years?"

Raelee adds, "Vornavis is the only Barony on the northern border that has seen something resembling peace in the past two decades."

Dendum says, "Eh...but they do have nice turkey to eat."

Speaking to Iskandr, Alosaka says, "There were isolated locations within Talador where people survived."

Alosaka says, "I would assume many of them are realizing that life out there is... unlikely to improve, let's say."

Lylia says, "The Tears."

Kelfyr says, "I'm going to get out of this damnable cold. From the sound of it, there'll be more than enough chances to shiver in the snow to come."

Bristenn neutrally mentions, "Dragach, even. Trauntor, if one is willing to trek so far."

Speaking to Bellaja, Vaemyr says, "Again, I have very little insight to the halls actions, anything else would be absolutely pure speculation. If you'd like to ask Raelee, she's over there."

Speaking to Earthdiver, Kiyna says, "Someone correct me if I am wrong, but Elidal suggested there would be another five or so caravans after the first two, and each one was carrying a variable number, but he regarded one carrying a hundred or so as among the largest. So... if we assume each caravan was to carry a hundred... seven-hundred people all told, or thereabouts."

Speaking to Iskandr, Raelee adds, "Some on the fringes. The area of effect did not precisely trace the Baronial borders."

Kiyna says, "That may be a high estimate, but it sounds right to me."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Bellaja says, "I meant magister Enisius."

Earthdiver says, "That seems a reasonable number."

Iskandr asks, "Hmmm, blue ale?"

Evia says, "Its delicious."

Speaking to Iskandr, Missoni cautions, "It is rather strong."

Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "As the fallen have been taken care of, perhaps we can rest in the south this eve."

Xorus says, "Those within the Tears are frozen in a time loop."

Iskandr says, "Indeed."

Vaemyr says, "I think I am going to get some rest, last night was wrong and... tiring."

Alosaka asks, "Ah, but Jovery should have known that declaring the barony here would lead to... let's see... an up-jumped Illoke chieftan to assemble an alliance of giants, trolls, orcs, griffins? Sure. Bears, lions, skeletons, witches... Oh, and all the might of Darkstone. Am I forgetting anything?"

Bristenn offhandedly grouses, "Just the one, and we settled that."

Speaking to Alosaka, Lylia says, "Roa'ters."

Raelee says, "It was an isolated occurance."

Earthdiver says, "I must have missed the roa'ters."

Speaking to Xorus, Perigourd asks, "The Tears of Koar?"

Alosaka says, "Are they part of Darkstone? I feel like they might be."

Iskandr says, "Good luck with your various this and thats."

Iskandr says, "Seems much on your plates."

Lylia grudgingly says, "I suppose we can count them as 'the might of Darkstone.'."

Iskandr says, "If you happen to come east tomorrow, a very special guest will be speaking in Ta'Vaalor."

Xorus says, "There was a time we made it into one of those pockets, and they had an entirely divergent understanding of the date."

Raelee surreptitiously glances at Iskandr.

Iskandr says, "She is quite well known in these parts."

Kiyna says, "Regardless, I agree that attempting this migration and forming the barony right before winter was a poor decision. Can't be changed now."

Bellaja says, "It couldn't have been anyway."

Earthdiver says, "Darkstone seems an odd choice."

Bellaja says, "The wheels of the Empire don't stop rolling."

Speaking to Earthdiver, Alosaka says, "What, here? There's already a city, a strategic port, roads to everywhere."

Earthdiver says, "But...it's Darkstone. Haven't they looked at it."

Evia says, "Hmm, cannot keep my eyes open."

Speaking to Earthdiver, Perigourd says, "They have, and want to more."

Earthdiver says, "It's a fixer-upper, I guess."

Alosaka says, "Everywhere you look has some sort of problem or other."

Speaking to Alosaka, Kiyna says, "I think he's referring to the Castle."

Lylia says, "There is just that pesky matter of the mana-storms. And the stone sentinels. Ah, and the Sheruvian cultists. Troll kings, and of course the roa'ters."

Speaking to Earthdiver, Bellaja says, "They have and they know stories of flow magic and.."

Speaking to Lylia, Dendum adds, ""Krolvin."

Speaking skeptically to Lylia, Raelee asks, "Pesky?"

Dendum says, "Err."

Dendum says, "No."

Bristenn dryly jests, "And all of you, as well."

Dendum says, "The bug ones."

Speaking to Earthdiver, Bellaja says, "Legends of artifacts."

Missoni says, "Kiramon."

Speaking to Lylia, Iskandr says, "Kiramon too."

Dendum exclaims, "Kiramon!"

Earthdiver says, "Yes. I suppose if they don't mind that in their literal backyard."

Speaking to Raelee, Lylia says, "Adds atmosphere."

Earthdiver says, "Atmosphere is one way of describing it."

Kiyna says, "I'd sooner see Darkstone Castle razed. Turn it into rubble, then pulverize the rubble, then have the sorcerer types void all the dust."

Kiyna says, "Build a new castle."

Iskandr says, "Lightrock."

Alosaka says, "It's not a terrible wish."

Dendum says, "One wonders how deep the Kiramon live."

Earthdiver says, "I think we would have razed it if we could."

Speaking to Raelee, Bellaja asks, "Do you have any guesses beyond the face-value of the Green Sisters being here?"

Speaking to Dendum, Iskandr says, "Perhaps they were at the core of this place with the Aelotoi the whole time."

Bellaja says, "And by that I mean their "here to help" answer."

Geijon says, "Sheru has been a far more significant thorn in this region than perhaps th' Empire has ever been percieved as."

Speaking to Iskandr, Alosaka exclaims, "Ah, more refugees!"

Kiyna says, "I have some things to attend to, so I'll be turning in, myself."

Speaking to Bellaja, Raelee says, "Not at this time - though Elidal does seem to have an existing relationship with them. He does seem to hold Imaera with great regard."

Geijon says, "And here th' young Baron claims land named after th' castle."

Speaking to Dendum, Iskandr says, "Makes about as much sense as another planet."

Speaking to Raelee, Perigourd says, "Not an unkonwn following for much of the empire."

Speaking to Iskandr, Dendum says, ""No."

Perigourd corrects, "Unknown.."

Speaking to Raelee, Bellaja says, "Even so, I have to wonder about their motives."

Speaking to Bellaja, Raelee asks, "Why?"

Speaking to Raelee, Bellaja says, "Of course the favor of a new baron is a good one."

Speaking to Raelee, Bellaja says, "Because I question everything."

Speaking to Raelee, Bellaja says, "It seems like a lot of effort and risk."

Bristenn neutrally comments, "They have sects and covens all about the empire. Smaller than their sisterhood was in Talador, however."

Raelee says, "Their core was in Talador."

Speaking to Raelee, Bellaja says, "We're dealing with an issue of land as well, and magic hidden in the earth."

Missoni says, "The sister who was here earlier made an offering intended to bring prosperity to the new settlement, and said she chose to come here to start anew."

Speaking to Raelee, Bellaja says, "They specialize in earthen magic."

Raelee says, "Much like the settlers, they lost their home."

Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "I'd like to speak with them about the blight."

Speaking to Missoni, Bellaja says, "That's a lovely sentiment."

Bristenn remarks, "It -is- a fair amount of effort and risk. To, as Missoni put it, start anew."

Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "I'm quite dissapointed to have missed their ceremony earlier."

Dendum says, "They do not appear to be...."

Speaking to Bristenn, Missoni says, "Well, she had lost her home and known only war since she was five, she said."

Lylia says, "And yet how many people have come here to do just that."

Missoni says, "So perhaps it did not seem all that risky in light of that."

Raelee says, "It is not much of a risk when there is little left to lose."

Speaking to Perigourd, Missoni says, "I am sure she would speak to you about it. I mentioned you follow the lady."

Bellaja says, "I didn't realize they were also refugees themselves."

Bristenn casually reminds, "Great reward does not come without greater risk."

Bristenn dryly adds, "Usually."

Bellaja says, "This is why I ask questions.. clarity and understanding. Sorry to pester."

Speaking to Bellaja, Raelee says, "They do have a notable pocket of membership in Oire but, much of their purpose was centered in Talador."

Speaking pointedly to Bellaja, Raelee says, "And one should never apologize for questions."

Speaking to Bellaja, Missoni says, "It is always good to ask."

Geijon says, "I wish people would be more plain."

Lylia says, "I try, but somehow it rarely winds up that way."

Speaking to Lylia, Perigourd says, "You succeed fairly well."

Lylia says, "I think so too, but you would be amazed at how many people think I am being sly."

Speaking to Lylia, Perigourd says, "You're plainly sly."

Lylia agrees, "Clearly."

Speaking to Lylia, Bellaja says, "Because we know you have the ability."

Geijon says, "War as a daily factor of life, weighs. It's a bit startling to be asked, "Do you live here?" earlier when you have your near entire life, but I can see th' reason behind th' question."

Speaking to Xorus, Lylia asks, "Shall I steal you away, or would you like to stay a bit longer?"

Speaking to Geijon, Perigourd says, "Peace is hard won, and typically for those who follow those who won it."

Xorus says, "We can go."

Speaking to Perigourd, Geijon says, "Lord Elidal seems to be facing a challenge of fath as they say, grit and determination or tenacy and resilience are important traits. War sometimes never ends in your lifetime, indeed."

Speaking to Raelee, Lylia says, "Thank you again for what you shared earlier, about Talador and Jantalar. Your insights are always worthwhile."

Speaking to Geijon, Perigourd says, "He's young, but he seems to have a good heart."

Bellaja says, "It is a good question Mnar brough up earlier."

Speaking to Geijon, Missoni says, "He seems steadfast, at least."

Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "It was but the truth."

Speaking to Geijon, Perigourd says, "Experience and good company ought to serve him well."

Bellaja says, "Why would a very successful captain waste his time to smuggle some goods."

Geijon says, "I can see why he was elevated to Potentate."

Bellaja says, "Or.. whatever it is he's up to."

Geijon says, "Looks like folks are ready to depart."
