Synopsis

Wintora meets people at Lake Eonak, where she shows off a pale ice blue sapphire she received from Bellaja, who had been kind to her even though she wasn't the biggest fan of her sons--not that Wintora faulted her. The last time they talked, Bellaja had pulled the gem from her diadem and told her she wasn't long for this place anymore, but would never forget it or the the faces there. She has asked for the gem to find a new home in the lake. Wintora relays wisdom from her mother, and her mother's mother before her, that when we find those we know and care for to have passed beyond the life we know, their journey hasn't ended, but transformed, and their story continues in our hearts. She places the sapphire into the lake and it briefly floats without sinking, glowing, before dipping out of sight.

Afterward, discussion commences, as she wonders how to resolve the situation between her sons Elidal and Enisius. She asks if people believe Enisius is guilty of what he confessed to; Lylia, Leafiara, Kiyna, Vaemyr, and Envoy Thrassus say no. Wintora asks what should become of the one who is guilty; Leafi and Sir Cryheart say that depends on the motivation; Thrassus says no lasting harm was done, so nothing severe. Councilor Vaemyr says restitutions for the families of kidnapped victims. Councilor Kayse says she just wanted protocol so the obelisk couldn't be used against Wehnimer's Landing. Wintora implies that coins wouldn't be a difficulty, referring to Vaemyr's suggestion, but the relief is fleeting; he says restitution doesn't necessarily need to be coin. As for Councilor Irval, he's still assessing everything and says anything regarding Enisius' actions should be public.

Wintora says there are really many little camps and towns pretending to be one camp and town, with divided people saying things that are simultaneously true and false, and Elidal is seeking the heart of the people of Wehnimer's while facing a decision on how to appear strong while wielding grace with Enisius. She says we all know Enisius didn't use the obelisk and we all know who did, but she won't utter the name nor nod at acknowledgment. The conversation eventually and briefly shifts to Elidal's history of love interests, then Wintora thanks everyone for their candor.

Idle Chatter in the Snow

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Dzorix disk, the Sareyna disk, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, a double bubble, a nimble blue phase fox with dainty silver paws, the Rivienne disk, the earth brown Staran disk, the Tairngaire disk, the Dwi disk, a flame-eyed burnished ember fox, an animated flayed gigas disciple, the Plonkus disk, the Littlemelody disk, a skeletal bone white serpent that is sitting, a large acorn, a round of fried dough branded with a charred design, a large acorn, a large acorn, some wide stone benches with some stuff on it, an herbal remedy donation bin and a round silver-banded barrel.

Also here: Whimweaver Leafiara, Dzorix, Rhazin, Zandie, Sareyna, Imperatrix Lylia, Lornon Chair Rivienne, Great Lord Staran, Xorus, Sohlee who is lying down, Demid, Lady Tairngaire, Emperia, Urchin Gutstorm, Mauss, Dwi, Kiyna, Town Councilor Vaemyr, Salarus, Plonkus, Valideus who is sitting, Jouster Littlemelody, Onicas who is sitting, Lord Thrassus, Andromalius who is sitting

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me not shore da da right shpell, me not familir wit me helpful shpellsh."

Mauss says, "Wow, da whole crew's 'ere! Da important ones anyhoo."

Speaking heartily to Mauss, Dwi says, "I was here to begin."

Speaking drunkenly to Gemiliano, Gutstorm slurs, "CATCH!!"

Dwi heartily says, "Dey turnin onna me."

Speaking to Gemiliano, Mauss asks, "Like dancin'?"

Speaking heartily to Gemiliano, Dwi says, "Bote fer da ferst one."

Speaking to Gemiliano, Mauss says, "Yer gonna git danced."

Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna says, "Even the sky is drowsy."

A light dusting of snow falls loosely from the sky.

Speaking casually to Kiyna, Kayse says, "The sky looks angry."

[General] Markx thinks, "Seems I'm the only one finding that onimous."

Mauss mildly says, "It IS noisy in 'ere."

Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna says, "You think so? I've always found the snow to seem... tired."

[General] Vaza sadly thinks, "Yes, my sister is going to snowball me. Very Ominous indeed."

[General] Guennwhfar thinks, "It's quiet ... too quiet."

Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna adds, "Unless you're talking about the continued Reach nonsense, in which case, yes."

Gutstorm sings with jollity:

"Yoink"

Gutstorm glances between Leifa and Leafiara.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me always git ye two mished mashed."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Mauss says, "Find da RED one."

Leafiara recites:

"Since Pukk's still away on some business... Everyone join Vaemyr!"

[but his group was closed]

Tikba wryly says, "I am glad to see, at least, that winter is not always as difficult as last year."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "She got da lil red booger on her shoulder."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "I was prepared."

[now his group's open, though]

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara protests, "Stubborn."

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi exclaims, "Dat booger's name is Ida!"

Mauss asks, "Dere gonna be a fite tonite?"

Speaking to Mauss, Leafiara muses, "Never know."

Vaemyr says, "I'll do my best to get us lost wherever we go."

The coppery barn owl hoots at Vaemyr.

Speaking heartily to Mauss, Dwi says, "I'd fite ye...but dont wanna here fer sump reason."

Speaking to Leafiara, Mauss says, "Dat'd be shore nice. I ain' git one in Mule, dey just force fed me.,"

Speaking to a pale-faced coppery barn owl, Leafiara agrees, "He's no real Cryheart, but we make do."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "I am unfortunately considerably less shiney."

Speaking uncertainly to Gutstorm, Tikba asks, "Escooches?"

Speaking to Gutstorm, Mauss says, "I ain' smarter than nothin'!! I just keep swingin'."

Dwi heartily says, "'I always thought Owly was da real Cryheart anyways."

Mauss asks, "So whass da dilly-o?"

Leifa comments, "The eyes look bright n' shiny."

Mauss asks, "Do we know yet?"

Speaking to Mauss, Ouidanna says, "I found a banana, hazelnut, chocolate sammich."

Leafiara says, "Shiny Eyes might be a bit long of a nickname..."

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "Da Sprout issa safely dock'd sumplace else."

Speaking drunkenly to Leafiara, Gutstorm slurs, "Yoo wearing shtockinsh?"

Speaking to Ouidanna, Mauss says, "So yer thirty three percent correct."

Speaking in Dwarven to Dwi, Lecrand asks something you don't understand.

Speaking vaguely to Gutstorm, Leafiara says, "You'd never be able to tell if I were. This whole appearance could be an illusion."

Speaking in Dwarven, Lecrand asks something you don't understand.

A curtain of light snow falls from the sky.

Vaemyr says, "Yep, sure keeps snowing."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Mebbe Faireve comin to vishit."

Ouidanna says, "I need warm clothes."

Leafiara optimistically exclaims, "Can only hope!"

Speaking to Leafiara, Mauss says, "Don' start bein' da Violet Lady, ya'd hafta repaint yer boat."

Speaking in Dwarven to Dwi, Lecrand asks something you don't understand.

Vaemyr says, "The reach has actually seemed kinda quiet tonight, the usual activity has seemed pretty sparse."

Speaking drunkenly to Clodheart, Gutstorm slurs, "Relative of Cryheart?"

Thrassus says, "Don't jinx things."

Clodheart says, "Sorry no."

Speaking in Dwarven, Dwi heartily says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Thrassus, Kiyna says, "Too late now."

Speaking drunkenly to Tikba, Gutstorm slurs, "Me keep all me credentialsh inna folio too."

Gutstorm removes a flimsy off-white license from in his floristics folio.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me need dishin back."

Gutstorm offers Tikba a flimsy off-white license.

Tikba accepts Gutstorm's off-white license.

Tikba glances dubiously at a flimsy off-white license in her hand.

Mauss whines, "Where's da fite??"

Speaking to Nyaria, Leifa asks, "Delicous, yes?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me giff ya da wrong one?"

Speaking softly to her vivid green absinthe, Nyaria says, "You are good, but not strong enouigh."

Dwi heartily exclaims, "Look!"

Speaking politely to Gutstorm, Tikba says, "No, this seems correct."

Dwi heartily exclaims, "Issa backup Cryheart!"

Tikba offers Gutstorm a flimsy off-white license.

Gutstorm accepts Tikba's off-white license.

Speaking politely to Gutstorm, Tikba asks, "Who provided this license?"

Speaking drunkenly to Kayse, Gutstorm slurs, "Datll be fiffy shilver pleash."

Geijon says, "He's better with a shield. I'm bigger."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me brudder."

Speaking amusedly to Gutstorm, Kayse asks, "For what?"

Gutstorm offers Kayse a flimsy off-white license.

Kayse accepts Gutstorm's off-white license.

Tikba whispers something to Kayse.

Gutstorm grunts happily, grinning.

Kayse glances dubiously at Gutstorm.

Kayse offers Gutstorm a flimsy off-white license.

Gutstorm accepts Kayse's off-white license.

Dwi heartily says, "Ida wants to play."

Stormyrain offers Kayse a glass of golden whiskey.

Stormyrain asks, "Whiskey instead?"

Kayse accepts Stormyrain's golden whiskey.

Speaking casually to Stormyrain, Kayse says, "Always."

Kayse surprisedly asks, "Your fingers haven't been removed yet?"

[General] Fehala exclaims, "'With a phenomenal ten-minute travel time. The wind in those sails!"

Vaemyr says, "Still just kinda snowing it seems."

Blades arrives, guided by an urchin, who nods to Blades and quickly takes off.

Speaking to Stormyrain, Kayse says, "He left..."

Stormyrain says, "He's back."

[General] Fehala thinks, "Thinking is hard sometimes."

Remembering Bellaja

[General] Wintora thinks, "The way the surface of the lake catches the snow at night, its breathtaking."

Speaking to Blades, Stormyrain says, "To the Lake we go."

Vaemyr asks, "Ahhh Lady Wintora, at lake eonoke I guess?"

Stormyrain says, "Or we can join Vaemyr."

Blades asks, "We kickin Gutstorm in a lake?"

Vaemyr says, "I will head that way in a moment."

[General] Kiyna thinks, "The best thing to do on a wintry day is to stay inside... but if you must be outside, the view is lovely."

Stormyrain says, "As you wish."

Leafiara recites:

"Everyone join Vaemyr who didn't join Vaemyr before!"

Vaemyr says, "Leaving in 3."

[travel]

[Melgorehn's Reach, Lake Eonak]

You are on the bank of a beautiful mountain lake that is fed by a waterfall gushing from the mountain side. There is a path which seems to actually lead up the side of the mountain. You also see an animated flayed gigas disciple, the Blades disk, the Stormyrain disk, the discordant Tikba disk, a tiny blue-black teadragon with silver-green wings, a surly wasteland spirit that is flying around, a barely visible trail leading into a grove of ancient trees and a cedar chip path.

Thrassus says, "This place is a bit dangerous to be wandering in."

Tikba agrees, "It is a beautiful lake."

Wintora quietly says, "I thought that might gather a crowd."

Speaking to Wintora, Kiyna asks, "Cold?"

Wintora quietly says, "An old woman should never be left alone for too long."

Kiyna offers Wintora a ball of red fire.

Wintora declines Kiyna's offer.

Wintora shakes her head.

Raelee says, "... there is a difference between not being alone and being in a crowd..."

Wintora quietly says, "Cold? Not yet. The season has only begun to turn."

Vaemyr says, "Good evening Lady Wintora."

Mauss says, "It'll git dere."

Tikba wryly says, "We must hope it will not turn much further."

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "Alas."

Lylia says, "I hope it will not be as bitter as last winter."

Speaking softly to herself, Nyaria says, "How fitting."

Stormyrain sticks her tongue out and manages to catch a snowflake on its tip!

Blades says, "You don't know where that snow has been."

Speaking slowly to Blades, Stormyrain says, "In the sky."

The voice of Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "It got ash onnit."

Wintora quietly says, "It is absolutely stunning though. The calm of winter's first waking moments."

Tikba politely asks, "How is your son doing, Wintora?" [she'll revisit this much later in the discussion]

Blades asks, "See?"

Sareyna asks, "The sku ...clouds?"

Speaking to a beautiful mountain lake, Mauss coaxes, "Here fishy fishy fishy."

Wintora quietly says, "As if the heavens are shedding the past. A step, a turn, forward."

Wintora tilts her blue sapphire side to side, making the light play off it.

Wintora quietly says, "This did not belong to me."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Loralaii gimme;d dat."

Wintora taps a pale ice blue sapphire, which is in her right hand.

Speaking to Wintora, Kiyna asks, "Where's it from?"

Wintora quietly says, "A young woman. Well, young to me, nonetheless."

Blades says, "Not sure what you're doin with a pickled potato in your pocket."

Speaking to himself, Mauss says, "Mebbe da better question is, who in dere right mind would pickle a tater in da first place."

Wintora quietly says, "I spoke with her at length not long ago. She had a mark, her flesh was set in such a way. She had said she was once declared "disdained."."

Wintora quietly says, "A woman of Torre? A Claybourne? I could not see how."

Speaking to Blades, Sareyna asks, "Warriors and dwarves will ear anything?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Dat kinna like ordained but oppasit?"

Speaking amusedly to Gutstorm, Tikba says, "Kind of, yes."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Lylia says, "Astute observation. Rather like that."

Speaking to Wintora, Thrassus asks, "What sort of mark exactly?"

Wintora quietly says, "She was kind to me, asked many a question, but I could tell she was not the biggest fan of my sons. Which I never once faulted her."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me like her already."

Leifa whispers something to Nyaria.

Wintora quietly says, "A red claw. A fierce looking scar. I cannot imagine it was painless to acquire it, and even more painful to carry it."

Nyaria whispers something to Leifa.

Tikba carefully asks, "You say she was a Claybourne?"

Geijon says, "Th' marks would seem to be obvious enough to recognize her."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Wottin if she wear mashk."

Wintora quietly says, "But with her own ties to Torre, it did leave me wondering what other scars she carried."

Wintora taps a finger to her lips a few times.

Raelee quietly states, "The Claybournes have taken great losses in the past decade..."

Wintora quietly asks, "I'm sorry, names sometiimes are fleeting. Bellaja?"

(Nyaria tries to wipe away tears.)

Leifa trembles.

Nyaria bursts into tears!

Lylia lets out a long, contemplative breath.

Tikba nods slowly.

Kiyna frowns.

Wintora quietly says, "On the last eve we talked, she pulled this from her diadem."

Wintora taps a pale ice blue sapphire, which is in her right hand.

Wintora quietly says, "I had worried it doing so would leave her diadem with less sparkle. That was not the case."

Xorus nods.

Stormyrain slowly empties her lungs.

Geijon nods.

Nyaria scoots over next to Leifa.

Nyaria whispers something to Leifa.

Wintora quietly says, "She told me she was not long for this place, not anymore, but that she would never forget it, and the faces along the way."

Nyaria nods at Leifa.

Wintora quietly says, "She did mention something in passing about some bats, but I am afraid I did not follow that part well enough to understand."

Leafiara nods slowly.

Tikba nods somberly.

Lylia sits down.

Kiyna lowers her gaze.

Geijon closes his eyes for a moment.

Wintora tilts her blue sapphire side to side, making the light play off it.

Vaemyr glances up.

Kayse bites her lip.

Stormyrain quietly offers, "Once upon a time, there were bats that had her face, among others."

Wintora quietly says, "She asked for the gem to find a new home here."

Wintora points at a beautiful mountain lake.

Thrassus nods understandingly.

Wintora quietly says, "I can't understand the signifance, perhaps nothing beyond beauty within beauty..."

Wintora quietly says, "Oh, I see."

Wintora nods at Stormyrain.

Wintora quietly says, "An interesting tale I am sure."

Lylia softly says, "She has always had many of them."

Geijon shivers violently for a moment.

Stormyrain nods slowly at Wintora.

Kiyna takes a drink from her warm mulled wassail.

Vaemyr glances at a beautiful mountain lake.

Leifa weeps gently, trying to smile through her tears.

Wintora tilts her blue sapphire side to side, making the light play off it.

Stormyrain gazes with interest at a beautiful mountain lake.

Wintora quietly says, "I will recall what my mother had once told us, that her mother before her had shared as well."

Gutstorm sits down next to Lylia.

Mauss takes a drink from his creamy kumis.

Mauss looks rather relaxed.

Nyaria clasps her arms around her knees and rocks back and forth.

Wintora quietly says, "When we find those we know, those whom we care of, to have passed beyond the life we know."

Kayse tilts her head up.

Lylia nods at Gutstorm.

Wintora quietly says, "Bellaja, your journey has not ended, but merely transformed. In our hearts, your story continues."

Gutstorm grunts sadly, a small tear forming in the corner of his eye.

Tairngaire nods somberly.

Nyaria whispers something to Leifa.

Nyaria weeps softly, quiet tears falling from her eyes.

Sir Cryheart just arrived.

Lylia nods at Cryheart.

Kayse frowns at Wintora.

Cryheart nods at Lylia.

Kayse places a hand over her heart.

Tikba tilts her head down.

Stormyrain folds her hands behind her back.

Wintora kneels and places the pale blue sapphire into the waters of the lake, where for a moment it does not move, it does not sink, but it stays there, almost glowing with a soft cerulean glow beneath the glass like water, until it finally begins to dip and sink out of sight.

Cryheart glances at a beautiful mountain lake.

Leafiara gazes thoughtfully at a beautiful mountain lake.

Stormyrain grabs a glass of golden whiskey from a small pocket inside of her ebon lambskin jacket.

Kiyna lowers her gaze.

Raelee gazes at a beautiful mountain lake.

Kiyna closes her eyes for a moment.

Cryheart folds his hands behind his back.

Stormyrain takes a drink from her golden whiskey.

Blades takes a drink from his rye whiskey.

Blades looks rather relaxed.

Vaemyr nods slowly.

Kayse gazes fondly at a beautiful mountain lake.

Thrassus nods once.

Tairngaire takes a drink from her strawberry champagne.

Nyaria weeps softly, quiet tears falling from her eyes.

Wintora slowly empties her lungs.

Leifa places a hand over her heart.

Cryheart places a hand over his heart.

Stormyrain nods gratefully at Wintora.

Speaking quietly to Wintora, Stormyrain says, "Fitting, for her. To have the gem be in a place as beautiful as this in her memory."

Wintora nods.

Mauss watches a beautiful mountain lake closely for a moment.

Wintora quietly says, "Precisely, as I imagine was her wish."

Cryheart nods.

Kayse folds her wings across her back.

Vaemyr nods.

Kayse lowers her gaze.

Leifa nods somberly.

Darkstone Dilemmas

Wintora quietly says, "But I will confess..."

Wintora quietly says, "Remembering the great, was not my only reason to seek an audience tonight."

Wintora quietly says, "There can be value in crowds."

Wintora winks at Raelee.

Raelee surreptitiously glances at Wintora.

Blades asks, "Burning the place?"

(Nyaria glances up, tries to wipe her tears.)

Nyaria softly says, "She would have wanted that."

Nyaria nods at Blades.

Blades says, "Shes probably not alone."

Blades glances at Nyaria.

Speaking softly to Blades, Nyaria says, "Truly isnt."

Wintora quietly says, "Someone asked me earlier..."

Wintora quietly says, "How my children are doing."

Wintora quietly asks, "They are not well, are they?"

Tikba carefully agrees, "I fear not."

Thrassus says, "Not at the moment, no."

Thrassus says, "But I hope that the moment will pass and the situation rights itself."

Speaking to Wintora, Vaemyr says, "They certainly are a bit at odds with each other it seems currently."

Kiyna muses, "One is soon to decide the fate of the other, if I'm not mistaken..."

Wintora quietly says, "Yes, but how shall we get this situation to pass."

Wintora quietly asks, "Do you think my son is guilty of the action he has confessed too?"

Lylia says, "No."

Leafiara simply replies, "No."

Tikba shrugs her shoulders indifferently, lifting her wings slightly.

Speaking to Wintora, Kiyna says, "Not particularly, no."

Vaemyr says, "I think he is at least partially responsible, but is also protecting someone else."

Thrassus says, "The action does not seem like it was him, no."

Tikba asks, "He says that he is. Why would he lie?"

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "To protect someone else."

Wintora quietly asks, "But someone is guilty, no? What should become of someone such as this?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Banishment."

Speaking mildly to Kiyna, Tikba says, "It would be quite unkind of that person, to hide behind his protection, and allow him to take the punishment."

Tikba asks, "Who would do such a thing?"

Leafiara says, "Depends what the intent was, which remains unknown. It could have been malicious, accidental, or any number of possibilities."

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "Indeed it would."

Cryheart says, "First, we need to determine the motivation."

Thrassus says, "No lasting harm was done, so I am not sure it would need to be anything severe."

Wintora quietly asks, "Malicious, towards the reivers?"

Wintora peers quizzically at Leafiara.

Wintora quietly asks, "So nothing severe. But still something then?"

Wintora peers quizzically at Thrassus.

Lylia quietly says, "Nothing. No lasting harm, and the intent was to destroy the common enemy of both the Landing and the nascent barony."

Thrassus ponders.

Speaking to Wintora, Leafiara says, "It could have been malicious to fire on our own gathered in the Vale. This is entirely speculative, though, either way."

Tikba says, "My concern is for ensuring that the obelisk will not be used carelessly again."

Thrassus says, "Personally I would be satisfied with just making sure it can't happen again."

Leafiara says, "It could just as easily have been not that. More easily been not that, in fact, considering all the unknowns."

Kiyna says, "The obelisk can't fire again if we destroy it."

Raelee neutrally states, "Enisius does seem to think whoever used it, used it poorly."

Speaking to Wintora, Vaemyr says, "That is a good question, and hard to answer. As far as the damage done by the Obelisk to the landing defenders and citizens, restitutions and support for the kindnapped victims' families could be appropriate. As far as the Reivers, that is hard to judge... wars rarely end cleanly."

Tikba wryly says, "As to Enisius himself, perhaps he has suffered enough already by being forced to rest from his labors."

Speaking drunkenly to Dwi, Gutstorm slurs, "Lylia and Xorus helped."

Wintora quietly says, "Oh, that is the thing about my little Eni."

Wintora nods at Tikba.

Wintora quietly says, "He is never resting from his labors."

Wintora chuckles.

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "Perfessor Xorus ran."

Tikba grins wryly at Wintora.

Tikba nods understandingly at Wintora.

Leafiara agrees, "He did say his work was continuing when we spoke with him last."

Lylia says, "Not in the mood tonight."

Wintora quietly says, "Of course. His mind spins endlessly."

Speaking to Wintora, Raelee says, "Which is precisely as it should be."

Vaemyr says, "Enisius has agreed that we can discuss safeguards on the obelisk, I think that is a good step forward."

Nyaria softly says, "Bless you."

Wintora quietly says, "Yes, there will be safeguards."

Cryheart says, "Good."

Wintora quietly says, "I am almost certain of that."

Speaking to Wintora, Vaemyr says, "But the fact that this is still, one way or another, a betrayal of one brother to another. As far as them to trust each other again, I'm not sure how to bridge that gap other than time, potentially a lot of it."

Wintora quietly says, "In fact, it will not be the first time."

Wintora smirks.

Kiyna says, "What manner of safeguards? Restricting it to a single bloodline - of which there are merely four individuals present - did not seem to help."

Thrassus asks, "Something similar has happened before?"

Wintora quietly says, "When has it not? When raising children."

Wintora quietly says, "One does not wish to burden or stunt their children with chains, but sometimes fences are needed for if they run too far in the field."

Kayse adds, "Or leashes."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Eashier to pull dere shtringsh dat way."

Wintora quietly says, "It is not about pulling strings, little one."

Wintora nods at Gutstorm.

Lylia whispers something to Xorus.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Ye know, me inda vale when it got fired on, how me know dey not tryta kill me."

Wintora quietly says, "It is about shaping, and guiding, and sometimes directing towards beneficial decisions."

Speaking to Wintora, Vaemyr says, "How has your husband been? It seems that noone has really seen him for a while."

Blades asks, "Are you alive?"

Speaking to Blades, Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Cuz me ran like hell when da fire fallin from da shky."

Wintora quietly says, "My husband is ready to move home."

Wintora chuckles.

Blades says, "Poor shots then."

Wintora quietly says, "He has not yet realized, this is now home."

Blades says, "I'll pay better."

Wintora quietly says, "Well..."

Wintora points north and then northwest.

Speaking quietly to Blades, Dwi says, "I aint stabb'd my boodoo doll o' Guts inna months...it's in me locker back in da Landin...so...."

Blades says, "Want me to stab em? It'll be more fun."

Speaking quietly to Blades, Dwi says, "Sellit to ye fer lebenty leben million silbers."

Wintora quietly asks, "What of my son then? What would your people, your leaders, accept as fairness for his actions? Or the actions of whomever is decided to be guilty?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Banish boff dem, dat way we know we get da right one."

Stormyrain says, "Banish them from...the Landing? They're rarely in the Landing proper."

Lylia says, "Some of us do not hold him, or whomever destroyed Ember Vale, guilty at all."

Speaking to Wintora, Kayse admits, "I was never looking for punishment for Enisius. I just wanted a protocol in place so the Obelisk can't be used against our home."

Speaking to Lylia, Kiyna says, "And some of us do."

Speaking drunkenly to Stormyrain, Gutstorm slurs, "From da barony."

Stormyrain says, "I imagine the answer may be different based on the leader you speak to."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Stormyrain asks, "..but why? They did nothing to harm the Barony. They were protecting it?"

Lylia says, "The idea that we are to punish someone for destroying a common enemy, no matter how haphazardly done, is baffling to me."

Speaking quietly to Blades, Dwi says, "Moob a needle around...watch wot happins...."

Tikba carefully says, "I would prefer that he not be able to activate the obelisk again alone. That must be considered when planning the safeguards."

Speaking to Wintora, Vaemyr says, "I mentioned that, it is not up to us, to determine any punishment for the reivers, we can be upset or accepting of what happened. As far as the Landing people hurt, resitutions, helping families rebuild and recover from the ordeals they've had to do, seems an appropriate way to move forward."

Speaking to Tikba, Stormyrain asks, "Did he even activate it, this time?"

Lylia asks, "Was there reasonable expectation that people from the Landing would be there in the Vale?"

Speaking wryly to Stormyrain, Tikba says, "If not, we must extend this to all those who had the power to activate it."

Wintora quietly says, "I see."

Wintora nods at Vaemyr.

Speaking to Lylia, Kiyna says, "How easy it is to trod on the ash and dust that is all that's left of a settlement and call them all enemies. A weapon that annihilates entire villages is wrong."

Cryheart says, "Restitution."

Wintora quietly says, "Coin, riches, are not often a difficulty for certain parties."

Wintora quietly says, "Unfortunately, their relief is fleeting, for silver does not replace blood. Not truly."

Cryheart says, "Acts of charity for those harmed."

[General] Meishera asks, "Anyone what to hunt ghostly warriors with me?"

'Lylia snaps, "I am not in the mood to stand in the snow and argue niceties with you or anyone else, Councilor. We were collectively asked a question, I have given my answer, and you may voice your opinions to the contrary without aiming them at me."

Wintora quietly says, "But I think your assessment is fair Councilor Vaemyr."

[General] Ouidanna exclaims, "Hello Loamian!"

Vaemyr says, "It does not nesscarily need to be coin."

Wintora quietly asks, "And you, Councilor Kayse, you seek only safeguards?"

Wintora quietly asks, "What of you Councilor Irval?"

(Lylia folds her arms and stalks away, closer to the edge of the lake, where she glares out into the distance.)

Wintora grins at Lylia.

Speaking to Wintora, Kayse says, "Yes. A strong protocol and safeguards."

Stormyrain whispers something to Lylia.

Irval says, "Hm."

Blades offers Dwi a red-bearded robust dwarf doll holding a mug of ale.

Speaking heartily to Blades, Dwi says, "Push it in."

Blades says, "Its broken."

Blades says, "Hit him with it."

Speaking to Wintora, Kayse asks, "Was the intent of the obelisk to help with the mana storms as Enisius noted and never meant to be used in the way it was?"

Dwi heartily says, "I gots more pracktiss."

Blades says, "It only works for his closest lover."

Wintora quietly says, "That is a question for my son I am afraid."

Kayse notes, "Perhaps a question more for Magister Svala."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Dat me brudder perv."

Kayse adds, "Or him."

(Raelee merely raises both eyebrows.)

Dwi heartily says, "Kint win fer loosin."

Wintora quietly says, "Whenever he speaks to me of mana storms, flow lines, nexus points, rotes and moats...I do this..."

Wintora snores quietly out of boredom.

Wintora smirks.

Blades says, "I can't tell the difference."

Irval says, "Im still assessing everything to be frank. I think it should definitely be public."

Speaking to Wintora, Kiyna says, "You and I both."

Wintora quietly asks, "What should be public?"

Wintora peers quizzically at Irval.

Wintora agrees with Kiyna.

Irval stares off into space.

Irval says, "Everything."

Wintora quietly asks, "It has been nearly two months councilor. How long had you required to assess things?"

Wintora peers quizzically at Irval.

Wintora smirks.

Speaking to Wintora, Lylia says, "Your son, if he did it, is a hero in my estimation. If anyone understands what it is to be punished for doing what must be done, we do."

Wintora quietly says, "A giantman conducting business on elven time. Fascinating."

Wintora chuckles.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Go easy on Irval sometimes shtuff he see play trick on him."

Irval says, "Im not sure what you want of my assessment. Anything regarding the actions of Elidal's brother.."

Kayse opines, "I think it should take more than one person to activate it. As far as the science and magic behind it, I am unclear--but that is not up to me to figure out."

Irval says, "Needs to be public to the people of Landing for it was them who fought at the forefront and tried Resucing those they could."

Wintora quietly says, "Are you a representative of the town? That is why I've asked a proper assessment."

Speaking in Guildspeak, Gutstorm drunkenly slurs something you don't understand.

Speaking to Irval, Kiyna says, "Nothing has been or is being hidden from the public. It was a gigantic laser."

Irval says, "But when Enisius was told to stop."

Split Reaction

Wintora quietly says, "Here is my concern as a mother."

Irval says, "He kept firing the "laser" you call it."

Irval says, "Like a child with a giant magnifying glass and ants."

Stormyrain says, "You assume it was Enisius. I believe others hold the opinion it was not."

Xorus says, "I rescued hostages, brought them to Dikirk. The rest of them would have lived if they had followed instead of lingering behind."

Wintora quietly says, "There is a camp, and a town, but in truth, there are many little camps and towns all pretending to be one camp and one town."

Leafiara says, "That's never not the case."

Speaking heartily to Irval, Dwi asks, "Wotta bout a giant witta giant ant made outta glass?"

Speaking to Wintora, Thrassus says, "Apt observation."

Speaking to Dwi, Irval asks, "Hope they don't hold a grudge?"

Wintora quietly says, "Some will cry the Empire has come and they will cause issues, and others will cry that those who cling to freedom want only blood..."

Speaking in Guildspeak, Gutstorm drunkenly slurs something you don't understand.

Wintora quietly says, "Unfortunately, both are true, and both are not."

Speaking in Guildspeak, Gutstorm drunkenly slurs something you don't understand.

Speaking in Guildspeak, Lylia says something you don't understand.

Wintora quietly says, "My son, the soon to be Baron, seeks the heart of the people of Wehnimer's Landing."

Wintora quietly says, "He may forever want that. I will not work to change that."

Wintora quietly says, "He is faced with the decision of how to maintain strength, while wielding grace, with his brother. Our little Eni."

Wintora quietly says, "We all know Enisius did not use that obelisk."

Speaking heartily to Wintora, Dwi says, "He could always moob back home."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Didja push da button Wintora?"

Wintora quietly says, "Likewise, we all know who did, but you will not heard me utter the name, or even nod at your acknowledgement."

Leafiara wryly says, "Yes, well."

Wintora quietly says, "So then now, I have concerns as a mother, and as a wife."

Speaking to Wintora, Lylia says, "I understand. Were I in your shoes, I would do likewise."

Wintora quietly asks, "Do you understand my situation?"

Wintora nods.

Speaking in Dwarven, Dwi heartily says something you don't understand.

Stormyrain says, "The things we do to protect those we love. I do not envy your position, either position."

Vaemyr says, "But, Ensisius has some responsibility in allowing it to happen in the first place, but I think he knows that. That's why he's trying to take the blame all upon himself in all this."

Irval says, "Frankly your Little Eni disobeyed direct orders during a time of war."

Wintora quietly says, "That is not why."

'Wintora smirks at Vaemyr.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Ye know, he not dat Lil!"

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kayse says, "He is taking the blame to win his father's approval."

Tikba says, "He cannot win his approval."

Tikba says, "But I suppose he must try."

Wintora quietly says, "No, he will not."

Wintora quietly says, "But yes he must."

Wintora nods at Tikba.

Speaking to Wintora, Vaemyr says, "Well... ok... it's more likely he's still trying to protect someone, just like trying to protect their memory that they can still fish and catch a big one..."

Kiyna says, "I think you need to be even harder on family. If my old man fired the obelisk, he'd be missing both shins. At least."

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi asks, "Hey Guts...ye hear da one bout dem Imps anna der Game o' Pants?"

Speaking slowly to Wintora, Raelee says, "... perhaps if he were elevated for his brilliance rather than constantly being told there is something wrong with him, when there is not."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me dint."

Wintora quietly says, "But let us return to the topic at hand. While there is no crime, no rally for a barrister to march behind, there is still the crime of perception. Of wounded pride, of wounded flesh."

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "One pair o' britches tween da lotta dem."

Tikba carefully says, "I hope it is clear that this makes the problem of safeguards that much more pressing."

Kayse stresses, "The one thing I have been asking for."

Wintora quietly asks, "That must be addressed, and it seems, a measure of safeguards and silvers, will turn the wheel back, so to speak?"

[General] Gleandryl asks, "How do I get my mail from the mail clerk?"

Wintora peers quizzically at Raelee.

Wintora quietly says, "There is nothing wrong with Eni."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Iffin no "Crime" wad commited, den wot we talkin bout?"

Speaking to Wintora, Raelee says, "I know."

[General] Gleandryl exclaims, "Ah, thanks!"

Vaemyr says, "I think the biggest issue in all of this is fear. There was already the fear of the weapon being there in the first place. And now here's the perfect example of it being used without the authority of the persons in charge."

Lylia concedes, "Yes, there was no crime, but there are wounds that need mending. That is something to consider."

Wintora quietly says, "He is a brilliant man, who still at many times feels a boy."

Leafiara says, "Perhaps with some people. But, as you said, many small towns."

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "Crime dont stick aroun long nuff to commit to nuffin."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Lylia says, "Very good question."

[General] Golleas thinks, "You do have to be in the mail shop to check for mail, though."

Wintora nods at Leafiara.

Wintora quietly says, "A valid point. Not all little towns and little camps will agree."

Speaking to Wintora, Raelee says, "... his brother and father see him otherwise, however."

Speaking drunkenly to Dwi, Gutstorm slurs, "Me think iffin ye dont git caught, it not crime."

Wintora quietly says, "It is merely a matter of, how many can we win."

Wintora smiles.

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "Close yer eyes."

Wintora quietly asks, "Interesting observation. You think Elidal has disregarded Enisius?"

Wintora peers quizzically at Raelee.

Speaking quietly to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "We totally gittin away wit it."

Tikba wryly asks, "How much older is Elidal than Enisius?"

Speaking to Wintora, Raelee says, "The notes written on his hands, with guides on what to say and how to act... rather than simply being allowed to exist as he is."

Tikba says, "I do not know how many minutes, but I know he knows."

Leafiara agrees, "I concur with the Magister on this point."

Speaking drunkenly to Dwi, Gutstorm slurs, "Me gittin good at dish."

Wintora begins chuckling at Raelee!

Wintora quietly asks, "Are manners a crime?"

Wintora peers quizzically at Raelee.

Kiyna says, "Even if I think the perpetrator is deserving of punishment, it's not mine to decide on or carry out. I just want to ensure this cannot happen again. Vague 'safeguards' are not enough. Not for me."

Speaking to Wintora, Raelee says, "No. Though I did not call them such either."

Speaking to Kiyna, Kayse says, "They are vague because they are not yet planned, discussed and established."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Look."

Tikba says, "When we spoke to Magister Enisius in the dungeon last night, he was well enough mannered on his own, with no helpful advice."

Tikba wryly says, "Perhaps a few rough spots, but after all, this is the frontier."

Wintora quietly says, "My sons have difficulty at times telling each other no. Even though so many around them do not."

Dwi heartily says, "Oh."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Dey shpoiled."

Lylia adds, "Has a marvelously dry sense of humor, too. He is very different from his brother -- but no less than him in any sense."

Dwi heartily exclaims, "Needs dat!"

Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna says, "Let me rephrase, then. They -will- be insufficient."

Raelee quietly mutters, "Saying no is a valuable skill."

Stormyrain says, "I would prefer to know Enisius as he is, rather than believe he is simply putting on an act, out of a sense of duty, and he means not one bit of it--at the core of him."

Speaking to Kiyna, Kayse says, "You do not know that until we try."

Speaking heartily to Stormyrain, Dwi exclaims, "Cuttin out da middle man!"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Iffin me had shilver everytime Raelee tole me no, me could retire wealthy man."

Wintora quietly says, "Here is the thing about children."

Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna says, "I have known that since I laid eyes on the accursed thing. But it's no longer my decision."

Blades says, "Profits."

Nyaria whispers something to Leifa.

Blades suddenly turns and grabs Gutstorm's wrist!

You notice Gutstorm reach into Blades's pockets.

Blades points at Gutstorm.

Speaking wryly to Kiyna, Kayse says, "You must be a seer then."

Blades exclaims, "Marshal! A criminal!"

Wintora quietly says, "...and do not consider this a lecture, for I am no master of that craft. No, I do not think any parent is honestly."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "No one shaw nuffin, no crime."

Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna confesses, "I do have eyes, it's true."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Raelee says, "... no. At this point it is likely a three digit sum, which is not actually extravagant wealth."

Stormyrain says, "I..saw it, it was a terrible attempt."

Speaking heartily to Blades, Dwi says, "If'n ye sing to it...it'll sing back."

Blades says, "I found you another brother."

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi asks, "Dey grow inna ground ye know?"

Wintora quietly says, "Sometimes our children can find a niche to fill, a place in their limited world, a place among the crowd that they align with and fit. But time shifts, and so does life and those within it, and sometimes our core transforms with it. I am less worried about Enisius being unable to be himself. I worry more about will he find his new self, in this new world."

Speaking heartily to Gutstorm, Dwi says, "Ye dint haff ta whine fer one."

Speaking evenly to Wintora, Raelee asks, "And what do you fear he will be, then?"

Speaking in Dwarven, Dwi heartily says something you don't understand.

Speaking carefully to Wintora, Stormyrain says, "I think he may just find this place to be exactly the right place, with exactly the right beings, to find that new self."

Wintora quietly says, "Perhaps he allows such...direction and reminders, because he sees it as a step towards a new niche, no matter how uncomfortable."

Nyaria whispers something to Leifa.

Leafiara ponders, "If anything, Enisius has seemed to adapt to the area far more quickly than his brother, at least to me."

Speaking to Leafiara, Irval asks, "You get that from all the hand notes?"

Wintora quietly says, "I fear he will spend his whole life chasing the unattainable, while missing everything else along the way."

Speaking to Wintora, Lylia assures, "He would always be welcome at the Alabaster Spire. We hold those who take swift, decisive action -- or those who take responsibility for it -- in high regard. I do not think he would have trouble finding his place, if he looks farther afield."

Wintora quietly says, "And of course, that a woman will break his heart, or he'll love her more than his mother."

Speaking to Irval, Leafiara says, "No, I get it from all the moments when he's not busy wasting our time after Elidal wasted his own time on creating said notes."

Speaking to Wintora, Stormyrain says, "One does not have to live a certain life to find fulfillment and happiness."

Wintora quietly says, "Normal fears."

Wintora chuckles.

Wintora nods at Leafiara.

Speaking slowly to Wintora, Raelee says, "... the pursuit of knowledge is chasing the unattainable."

Wintora quietly says, "While Enisius may seek one niche, Eli tends to seek many."

Leafiara nods knowingly at Wintora.

Wintora quietly says, "We cannot be all things, to all people."

Wintora shakes her head.

Tikba wryly says, "Indeed, he is all things..."

Tikba nods at Wintora.

Cryheart says, "One niche is sufficient if it is truly a passion."

Wintora quietly says, "He won't be forever."

Wintora nods at Tikba.

Leafiara dryly says, "One can only hope."

Wintora quietly says, "He will settle. As he did when he returned to Riverwood, as he did after the death of the Weaver Widow, or whatever they named that woman."

Thrassus asks, "The Weaver Widow?"

Wintora nods.

Thrassus says, "I don't think I have heard that name before."

Tikba says, "I would like to hear more of this widow. She seems quite important to Elidal."

Leafiara says, "Ah, yes... that story that somehow had some of us briefly paranoid that Drazinoth's deceased wife was her..."

Tikba amusedly says, "More details will prevent such errors in future."

Wintora quietly says, "She shouldn't be important."

Xorus whispers something to Thrassus.

Wintora quietly says, "But men are men, and men are boys."

Wintora quietly says, "He loved twice in Lolle. He will tell you. Maybe he won't."

Wintora quietly says, "I doubt it was love either time, but, I recognize my bias."

Vaemyr says, "He's talked about it some."

Lylia primly says, "I do not pry much into the affairs of others."

Wintora quietly says, "He rarely visited home, it was in Lolle he spent..."

Wintora ponders.

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara asks, "Was it him or was it his father?"

Wintora quietly asks, "Three years during that time?"

Speaking drunkenly to Lylia, Gutstorm slurs, "Me nosey."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Elidal talked about it some."

Wintora quietly says, "One was a fleeting thing...and as my husband would say, "Made him a man."."

Wintora rolls her eyes.

Wintora quietly says, "A fact we will not discuss further."

Wintora quietly says, "The second...."

Wintora quietly says, "The Weaver Widow."

Lylia murmurs, "I have heard that title before."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Dat you Lylia?"

Kiyna says, "We have heard a version of the same story from Elidal, but the details escape me."

[General] Chandrellia asks, "Target in Landing please?"

[General] Leafiara thinks, "Several of us at Lake Eonak."

[General] Valdume thinks, "I am sitting at the small park Chandrellia."

A shadowy gloom swiftly pushes upward from the ground. When the darkness lifts, Chandrellia is standing in its place.

Wintora quietly says, "Beyond his reasonable age, she was quite wealthy after the death of her husband in South Hendor. He was a very powerful weaver merchant there. Of course, after his death, she sold the business the man had bled and sweat for over decades, and lived a life of luxury in the courts of Lolle."

Wintora quietly says, "My son, unclear why, but eventually the relationship ended and he returned to Riverwood. But in 5116, when Chaston Griffin, of whom you are all familiar with, conquered Lolle for a time, she perished."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Where all dat money goed?"

Wintora quietly says, "He hadn't loved since. But I suspect he is close to it."

Lylia says, "No doubt another victim of his cleansing of 'undesirables.' Chaston Griffin was a vile zealot."

Wintora agrees with Lylia.

Speaking to Wintora, Kiyna says, "He does seem to fancy Aronia quite a bit. His gifts for her have seemed... more than friendly."

Vaemyr says, "I'm not so sure those feelings are mutual, she seems to like... well more of the Haidan type."

Leafiara admits, "I did briefly see them exchanging compliments in battle once."

Chandrellia says, "It is good his heart and soul have found reason to try again."

Wintora shrugs at Chandrellia.

Tikba neutrally says, "I suppose if one is to have a baron, the baron must have an heir."

Wintora quietly says, "Trying does not always equal success."

Speaking to Wintora, Chandrellia says, "But unless ne tries, one will never know success."

Wintora quietly says, "I will save my comments on Aronia for now."

Kayse dryly remarks, "As much as I enjoy hearing about Elidal's past romps in the hay, I must attend to business."

Chandrellia says, "Just my opinon."

Kayse wishes, "Fair evening all."

Wintora nods.

Wintora gazes in wonder at her surroundings.

Town Councilor Kayse just went southwest.

Wintora quietly says, "Indeed, the hour is late. But I believe we've accomplished what I sought to do."

Wintora quietly says, "To remember those whose presence were a gift to us, and to perhaps feel the pulse of your town and her idea of consequences."

Tikba wryly says, "I am sure Elidal will be grateful for your advice."

Lylia quietly says, "You were right. The lake is beautiful, and I am glad I came to see it."

Wintora nods.

Wintora quietly says, "It truly is."

Wintora quietly says, "I want to thank you all for tonight. I appreciate your candor and sage advice."

Speaking to Wintora, Thrassus says, "Anytime."

Tikba amusedly says, "Perhaps more the former than the latter."

Speaking drunkenly to Wintora, Gutstorm slurs, "Yoo welcome."

Speaking to Wintora, Kiyna says, "You'll find our little towns are not shy about sharing their ideas."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Hmmm, all fa fitersh runned off."

[OOC note: Kenstrom coincidentally lost his Internet connection for the rest of the night here, but it was basically done anyway]
