Horse mounts were the first type of mount introduced at Rumor Woods as part of a new mount system in 2019. Horses are summoned by reins, which are a summoning item that stores their information but is considered a separate item. There are three tiers of horse mounts: common, uncommon, and rare. All horse mounts share a similar set up with their appearance. As with other mounts, horses can be given a name visible to the owner with a Potion of Naming, available at Evermore Hollow. Unicorn mounts, while sold alongside horse mounts, are technically not classified as horses. See their article for more information about them. AppearanceHe/she stands just 16 hands at the withers. He has a well-muscled body with a healthy dun coat. He has a square face, a short forelock, and pointed ears. He has a long mane that flows loose down his neck and a full black tail. CommonCommon mounts are the least expensive option when considering purchase. They are restricted to being just "horse", and are limited in alteration options that may be allowed through the Ostler.Usage
AmbientsThis section has not been added yet; please add to it now! UncommonUncommon mounts are the second most expensive option when considering purchase. They have more options available for noun choices, as well as a wider array of feature alterations at the Ostler. Their appearance is similar to the common tier. Available Nouns

AmbientsThis section has not been added yet; please add to it now! RareRare mounts are the highest tier available for purchase and offer additional verbs unavailable at common or uncommon tiers. Rare mounts are available during their initial run, and are normally discontinued in concurrent runs. For 2019, the rare horse mount was a fiery-eyed nightmare steed. Nightmare steeds were also sold at the 5th anniversary of Rumor Woods in 2023. AppearanceHe stands just over 18 hands at the withers. He has a muscular body with a sleek ebony coat. He has a gaunt face, a black-streaked forelock, and perky ears. He has a wild mane woven of moonlight-silver and a long flowing tail. UsageNote: Only the verbs differing from the common and uncommon tiers will be included below.
Special AbilityAs with all rare mounts, nightmare steeds have a special ability unique to them. Associated with one of their random ambient messages, a nightmare steed may drop a strand of silver horsehair onto the ground. The horsehair is a weavable item. Several gnats swirl around a fiery-eyed nightmare steed which causes her to shake her head powerfully in an attempt to exterminate them. A strand of silver horsehair flutters to the ground. An additional special ability was introduced in 2022 with the release of the rare unicorn mounts. Nightmare steeds also have a chance of giving their owner a nightmare while they are summoned. Receiving a nightmare causes the owner to briefly fall to the ground asleep. Upon waking, a physical item may be found in hand as a memento of the nightmare. This cannot happen while the owner is mounted. There are a wide variety of possible nightmares and mementos from them. AmbientsA fiery-eyed nightmare steed rears back, her hooves glowing brightly for a moment before fading. A fiery-eyed nightmare steed stomps the ground with her left hoof, sending a splatter of dirt sideways. A fiery-eyed nightmare steed snorts and holds her head high, ignoring everything around her. A fiery-eyed nightmare steed whickers and tosses her head in an agitated fashion. Flashing through the area, a crimson light suddenly flares to life. A fiery-eyed nightmare steed shakes her head and closes her eyes over the fiery light seeping from them, plunging the area into momentary darkness. Leaning her head forward, the nightmare steed rips up a tuft of grass and begins to chew quietly. Raising her head high in the air, the nightmare steed exhales steam forcefully through her nostrils, loosing a loud and mighty snort. Standing perfectly still, a fiery-eyed nightmare steed holds her head high, appearing aloof and haughty. Stepping high, a fiery-eyed nightmare steed prances in place for several moments. Suddenly agitated, a fiery-eyed nightmare steed swishes her tail back and forth vigorously. The steed plants her front hooves firmly and kicks up her rear legs in a frolicking and playful display. Using her front left foot, a fiery-eyed nightmare steed paws at the air and tosses her head in a threatening manner.
