Revision as of 19:57, 24 April 2024

Spider mounts released at Rumor Woods as part of a new Year of the Clockewerke Devices in 2024. Spiders are summoned by a web-covered metal device, which is a summoning item that stores their information but is considered a separate item. There are three tiers: common, uncommon, and rare. All spider mounts share a similar setup with their appearance.

Appearance

Powered by intricate clockwork mechanisms covered by a carapace of mechanical> <steel> plates, the spider is comprised of gears, levers, and cogs carefully crafted to move the arachnid about on eight articulated legs. A steam gauge is mounted beneath the hollow mechanical abdomen amidst a series of discreetly placed release valves with steel fittings. At the rear, spigot-tipped spinnerets produce silky, gossamer threads for web-making. Mechanical vice-like jaws open to reveal curved fangs, while two rows of orbicular black onyx eyes glitter atop a smooth cephalothorax.

Common

Common mounts are the least expensive option when considering purchase. They are limited in alteration options that may be allowed through the Ostler.

Available Types

  • wolf spider
  • velvet spider

Usage

You wipe away a slick of oil oozing out from under a solid plate on the side of your (mount). Might be time to head to the workshop!

(player) swipes at something leaking out of the side of (a/an) (mount).

Clean Owner Mounted

Hovering over the control panel on the back of your (mount), you press a series of buttons in a complicated pattern. A thick plume of steam erupts, showering the area in tiny droplets of water. That's one way to get clean!

(player) leans toward your (mount) with an outstretched hand, snatching at something stuck to one of (mount gender) segmented hind legs.

Nudge Owner

Slipping between the slender, mechanical forelegs of your (mount), you stand before (mount gender) sharp-edged chelicerae, under the fixed gaze of (mount gender) eight (current eyes). Reaching up, you push back (mount gender) mechanical eyelids and carefully pry the ocelli from their sockets, discarding them in turn. You replace each simple eye with a (gem held in hand), using the tip of your finger to gently push the jewels into place with a soft click.

Nudge Owner Mounted

Using your knee, you nudge a gear on the side of your (mount), cogs turning as (mount gender) moves slowly into a lunging position. After a moment, it springs forward!
