The Isle of Glaoveln is one of the home islands of the krolvin. It is a krolvin settlement northwest of Wehnimer's Landing and west of Icemule Trace.

Glaoveln is located in the arctic region of Elanthia, west of Pinefar. It is visible from as far south as Wehnimer's Landing, however. It is mainly a cold and desolate location ringed with rocky cliffs and sandy beaches. Pine forests covers parts of the island not cleared for habitation. The main and only city on Glaoveln is the city of Glaeve, which serves as a center for trade and commerce between the krolvin. The population of Glaoveln experienced massive ecological and cultural devastation due the eruption of the volcano on the island. These event's, and following efforts from the nation of Northwatch, have transformed the economy from a slave based economy to a trade based economy. The ramifications of these changes are still being felt to this day.

History

Glaoveln was first established as a safe harbor during the era of the early raids against the Turamzzyrian Empire, but the harsh, wintry island boasted only a shifting, seasonal population of krolvin until the 4870s.

  • In 4925, Glaoveln was involved in military actions against the Turamzzyrian Empire. The krolvin fleet was able to outmatch the Turamzzyrian fleet until Talbot Dabbings, a halfling from Wehnimer's Landing, managed to sneak into the leader's tent and kill him. Leaderless and fighting amongst themselves in bids of succession, the Krolvin fleet was destroyed by Turamzzyrian ships.
  • In 5114, a massive fleet of krolvin gathered and set out from Glaoveln under the command of Kragnack, laying waste to the western coast and primarily targeting the Turamzzyrian Empire. Attacks also occured on Teras Isle and Wehnimer's Landing.
  • In 5118, an attacking force from Wehnimer's Landing landed on Glaoveln and attacked the island with a targeted poison that killed the warlord Kragnack, who was in charge at the time.
  • In 5123, the volcano on the island unexpectedly erupted. Krolvin fled the island and landed across different areas of Elanthia's northwestern coast.
  • In 5124, an expedition out of Northwatch drove out one faction of krolvin that had remained on the island, then placed a faction that was pledged to Northwatch. The Northwatch krolvin agreed to end the practice of slavery on the island.
