The LooseLeash companion nook is a property fixture that lets your pet roam autonomously through a private property or mount stall/loft. Instead of sitting idle in your hand or following you room to room, your pet becomes a living part of your property -- wandering between rooms, reacting to visitors, and expressing a full range of moods, all on its own. The companion nook anchor is a furniture piece and can be altered like any other. A custom name can be assigned to your pet through GM alteration, overriding the creature's default name with something personal (e.g., "Mister Whiskers" instead of "a fluffy white cat"). Everything else -- mood, speed, zone, guest mode -- is controlled via game commands. Companion nook anchors work on any private property with a defined room range. This includes private properties, bungalows, and stalls and lofts. While it can support other spaces with a contiguous block of rooms (such as in a neighborhood or CHE properties), that is not offered at this time. The LooseLeash companion nook is sold at the Rumor Woods shop Song Sung Blue. When altering one, it must be altered before it is placed in a property. If it is not yet attuned to a pet, alter it first because attuning it to a pet type will cause the companion nook to be permanently placed in the property. Additional InformationSetupInstalling the LooseLeash companion nook is an automated process. Simply RAISE the automated certificate in the room where you want it placed. Once placed, the companion nook anchor cannot be moved without GM assistance, so choose carefully. The companion nook anchor starts as a companion nook. To activate it, hold your pet's summoning device and TAP the companion nook anchor. The device is stowed inside the companion nook and your pet is released to roam freely. The companion nook anchor's appearance transforms to match your pet type, becoming its home base. To reclaim your pet and its summoning device, simply GET the companion nook anchor. The pet is dismissed, its summoning device returns to your hand, and the companion nook anchor goes quiet until next time. Only the property owner can operate the companion nook anchor. Visitors may LOOK at it and ANALYZE it, but all configuration verbs are restricted to the owner's account. Pet Type RestrictionThe first time you stow a pet summoning device in a companion nook anchor, the companion nook anchor permanently locks to that pet type if unlocked beforehand. A cat anchor will only accept cat pet or Dhu kitten devices from that point forward. This ensures the fixture's appearance always matches the pet it was built for. Multiple AnchorsYou can place more than one companion nook anchor in a property. Each operates independently with its own device, mood, speed, zone, and guest mode settings. Only one companion nook anchor per room can be placed. Remote ManagementAll anchor settings can be managed remotely from anywhere via PROPERTY PET {#} {OPTION}, where # refers to the property real room number for a given companion nook anchor. For example, PROPERTY PET 51234 MOOD cycles the mood options for the companion nook anchor present in real room number 51234. The room number is required if there is more than one companion nook anchor present in the property. If a property only has one companion nook anchor, then the room number is optional.
Pet BehaviorRoaming PetsThe following pets can wander between rooms in your property: Cat pet, Dragonfly pet, Fox pet, Hedgehog, [Jerboa pet]], Lamb pet, [[[Mandrake pet]], Sewer rat, Songbird, Teadragon pet, WerePuppy. Wadering pets move room to room on a timer, and everyone in the departure and arrival rooms sees it come and go. Between movements, the pet emits mood-flavored ambient messages. Roaming pets respect roaming zone restrictions and will never wander outside your property boundaries. Stationary PetsThe following pets live inside the companion nook anchor and are not capable of roaming: Clockwerke Golem, Fishie, Lizard pet, Shade-skink, Small sand elemental, Squirrel pet, Web Anniversary spider, Wermth, Will-o'-wisp. All of their ambient behavior is delivered to the room where the companion nook anchor sits, describing what the pet is doing inside its enclosure. Fishies that are Tier 5 or higher and have the garbage disposal feature already unlocked convey this feature to their assigned companion nook anchor when they are inside it. This allows anyone to PUT an item into companion nook anchor and the Fishie will permanently destroy it. Safety checks prevent cursed, registered, magical, metal, and high-value items from being fed. Items worth 50,000 silver or more will prompt a confirmation warning. Wermths and Web Anniversary spiders support the FEED command on the companion nook anchor, which produces a flavor scene of a small creature being offered to the enclosure. Unlike Fishies, no item is actually consumed. Pet Mood SystemNine moods shape how your pet behaves. Each has its own set of ambient messages and, for roaming pets, departure and arrival descriptions. TURN the companion nook anchor to cycle through moods one at a time. Setting a mood manually disables auto-cycling if it was on. LEAN on the companion nook anchor to toggle hourly auto-cycling. When enabled, the mood automatically advances through the assigned mood numbers by one every hour.
Guest ModeTOUCH the companion nook anchor to toggle Guest Mode. When enabled, your pet only becomes active when a visitor (someone other than the property owner) is present in the room. When Guest Mode is off, the pet's ambient messages occur regardless of who's around. Roaming SpeedThree speed settings control how often your pet acts -- either moving to a new room or emitting an ambient message. PUSH the companion nook anchor to speed up. PULL to slow down. Changes take effect immediately.
Roaming ZonesTWIST the companion nook anchor to cycle through three zone options:
Stationary pets cannot have their zone changed. They live in their enclosure. Ambient MessagingAll of the pet's activity is delivered through the standard ambient messaging system, which respects the Ambient Messages window and FLAG NOAMBIENTMSG setting. When it's nighttime in the game, your pet may occasionally emit a sleep message regardless of its current mood. Default AppearancesWhen you stow a device, the companion nook anchor transforms to reflect your companion. The listed companion nook anchors are the standard appearance for each pet type if the companion nook has not been altered.
